3.0 LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool System Requirements NOTE: The performance requirements below are for the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool only. Geoprocessing services can be published to ArcGIS for Server. It is recommended to refer to Esri s guidance for actual ArcGIS for Server performance requirements. Operating System: Windows 0, Windows 8/8., Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Server 003, Windows Server 003 R, Windows Server 008, Windows Server 008 R, Windows Server 0, Windows Server 0 R Processor: GHz or higher Memory: GB RAM or higher Hard Drive: 00MB of drive space free Applications: Other: ArcGIS for Desktop 0.0 or later ArcGIS for Server 0.0 or later NOTE: ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS for Server do not need to reside on the same machine PDF - For maximum capabilities when processing PDF files, a PDF IFilter is required. Windows 8 and later typically include PDF IFilters. For Windows 7 and Windows XP, typically, this just means that Adobe Reader is installed. If not, follow support item # at to download and install the appropriate Adobe IFilter. Microsoft Office Documents - For maximum capabilities when processing typical Microsoft Office files, the Microsoft Office 00 Filter Pack and subsequent Service Pack and updates are required. Links to download these filters are included in the LocateXT software install or they can be downloaded and installed anytime from Microsoft: Filter Pack: Filter Pack Service Pack : The specific instructions for publishing LocateXT geoprocessing services provided in this guide apply to ArcGIS for Server 0. or later. LocateXT services can be published in ArcGIS for Server 0.0, but the process is different and not as straightforward. Contact ClearTerra at support@clearterra.com for resources. 6

4.0 LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool Configuration Publish Services Host Services Issue Licenses The following is provided in order to understand the configuration, communication, and licensing for using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool.. The LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool must be installed on the same system that has ArcGIS for Server. LocateXT geoprocessing services require this tool to be physically on the server.. The LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool must be installed on a system that has ArcGIS for Desktop, in order to follow Esri's geoprocessing service publishing methods. NOTE: ArcGIS for Server and ArcGIS for Desktop can be on the same system or different systems. 3. LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool licenses are Concurrent Use (Floating) licenses 4. The ClearTerra License Server must be installed somewhere on the network where the ArcGIS Server machine and ArcGIS Desktop machine can both communicate, and both machines have to be configured to communicate with the license server. 5. One license is used from ArcGIS for Desktop system while running the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool to create the geoprocessing results for publishing a service. After the run, it never has to run the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool again (unless it is publishing more services, etc.). 6. One license is used from the ArcGIS for Server system every time the tool executes (the geoprocessing service) on the server. The Scenarios provided assume publishing of new services would not be performed at same time as users running services. Otherwise, additional licenses may be required. Additional licenses may be required for the hosting machine if it is likely users will often be processing jobs at the exact same time. A license is used by the hosting server for the exact time that it takes to process a file. Scenario Scenario ArcGIS for Desktop LocateXT AG Svr Tool Publish Services Host Services ArcGIS for Server LocateXT AG Svr Tool ArcGIS for Desktop ArcGIS for Server LocateXT AG Svr Tool ClearTerra License Svr ClearTerra License Svr Issue Licenses Here are two scenarios with different configurations. In each case, a single LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool license could be used. Scenario : Separate systems are used to create/publish services and to host services. The publishing system briefly checks out a license from the license server when a model is created to create geoprocessing results. The hosting system checks out a license from the license server each time a job is processed by users using the services. Scenario : A single system is used to create/publish services and to host services. The system briefly checks out a license from the license server when a model is created to create geoprocessing results. The system also checks out a license from the license server each time a job is processed by users using the services. In either of these cases, the license server can be anywhere (including the same machine) as long as it can communicate. 7

5.0 LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool Setup After installing the product on a system that has ArcGIS for Desktop, follow these steps to setup the tool:. In ArcCatalog, right-click on My Toolboxes to create a New Toolbox.. Name the toolbox. 3. Right-click to Add Tool Add the ClearTerra Server Tools for the appropriate ArcGIS version. 5. The new toolbox now has the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool

6.0 LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool Capabilities The LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool has many of the same option settings that are available in the LocateXT Desktop product. These options provide two very powerful capabilities for the Server tool: Allows for publishing a LocateXT geoprocessing service to ArcGIS for Server that provides these options settings when it is run as a service Allows for using the tool inside of a model, custom configured with specific options, and then published as a service with those options. This allows for very powerful, automated custom geoprocessing services to be designed. Options overview:. Open the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server tool.. Provide an Input file or Input Text (type or paste string of text with a location) or File Path. Either of these two inputs can be used or they can be used together. 3. Name/select an output location 4. Coordinate Options - The tool offers the same Coordinate Option categories as the LocateXT Desktop software. See Pgs in the LocateXT User Guide. 3 Continued on next page... 4 Click on the Show Help >> button on the tool window at any time to get detailed help for the tool inputs and options. The File Path option is an additional input parameter that has been provided for developer and integrators that work with the LocateXT GP service. 9

6.0 LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool Capabilities 5. Select a Custom Attribute file if desired for custom extraction of data. 6. Select a Custom Locations gazetteer if place name extraction is desired. 7. Set a Fuzzy Error level if desired. 8. Date Formats - The tool offers the same Date Format categories as the LocateXT Desktop software. See Pg 90 in the LocateXT User Guide. 9. The Input File information section contains extra parameters that can be built into custom models that use LocateXT ArcGIS for Server geoprocessing services allowing for file path and file time modified data to be maintained. SEE SECTION 9.0 for more details. 0. Select a desired Standardized Coordinate Output (DD, DM, DMS, UTM, or MGRS are available).. Output features are generated based on geocoord formats and place name matches (if Custom Location gazetteer if used) The LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool can make use of LocateXT Custom Location gazetteers (.lxtgaz) for place name extraction and Custom Attribute files (.lxtca) for other custom extractions. The files can be created/generated using the LocateXT Desktop product and then shared with the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server tool. Workflows should be developed/tested with the Desktop product and then these files can be shared with the Server tool for publishing custom services. IMPORTANT: Due to the fact there are many intertwined complexities in play (3-bit or 64-bit OS, 3-bit ArcGIS Desktop, 64-bit ArcGIS Server) the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server tool may not process Office documents or PDF documents properly when used on its own. The tool is designed to be used to publish geoprocessing services. Text files will always work properly and text (.txt) files should ALWAYS be used when publishing geoprocessing services. 0

7.0 Publishing a Basic LocateXT Geoprocessing Service A basic LocateXT geoprocessing service can be published directly from the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool. This basic service has all of the same options available as the server tool itself. This provides user flexibility, but perhaps not as much automation as a custom LocateXT geoprocessing service (SEE SECTION 8.0). To publish a basic LocateXT geoprocessing service, do the following: 3 4. In ArcMap, select the Geoprocessing drop-down menu, and then Results.. In the Results window, delete all previous geoprocessing results for a clear slate. 3. In the Catalog window, Open the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool. 4. Select an input file. Make sure this is a text (.txt) file. 5. Select a feature class output location and name. The name/location does not matter - it just has to be valid. 6. There is no need to set any other options at this time. The basic LocateXT geoprocessing service will present these options each time it is run as a service. To configure specific options for a custom service, SEE SECTION Click OK to run the tool and generate geoprocessing results. 8. Return/reopen the Results window. Right-click on the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool results and select Share As -- Geoprocessing Service Continued on next page... IMPORTANT: When publishing services, ALWAYS use a text file (.txt) to generate the geoprocessing results that are the basis for publishing the service. Processing text (.txt) ensures results are generated (seen the related nd note on the previous page). When using ArcGIS for Server 0. (due to a limitation), the text file used to generate results must have no file extension. Simply remove the.txt extension and process the file with no extension.

7.0 Publishing a Basic LocateXT Geoprocessing Service 9. Choose to Publish a service now, Save the definition for later, or to Overwrite an existing service. Click Next. 0. Choose a Server connection with permissions to publish and Name the service. Click Next.. Use the existing (root) folder or create a New folder on the server for organizational purposes. Click Continue.. The Service Editor window appears. 3. Click on Geoprocessing on the left-side list menu. Make sure Upload is checked under Operations allowed. 4. Click the Publish button (if there are no significant errors from the Analyze) to publish the service. 8. Publishing can take seconds to minutes. Watch for the Successfully published service window and click OK to complete the process When the Analyze service button is clicked and the service is analyzed for possible errors, this possible yellow warning error will be shown: LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool for 0.3 is based upon a DLL and may not be available in other installations. This is effectively a reminder to install LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool on the same machine as ArcGIS for Server

7.0 Publishing a Basic LocateXT Geoprocessing Service A basic LocateXT geoprocessing service is now hosted on the server. To use the basic LocateXT service:. In the Catalog window, browse/connect to the ArcGIS Server, find the LocateXT service and open.. The LocateXT service window is opened. Select a file to process. 3. Any and all other options are available and can be adjusted each and every time the service is used. Users can leverage their local LocateXT Custom Location gazetteers and local LocateXT Custom Attributes files as needed, even though the LocateXT extraction process is running on the Server. 4. Click OK. 5. The LocateXT geoprocessing service returns the results back to the client. FILE

8.0 Publishing a Custom LocateXT Geoprocessing Service A custom LocateXT geoprocessing service can be published from a model constructed using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server tool saved with various option settings and parameters. This allows for a geoprocessing service to be published that is custom designed and automated for specific workflows. Examples of custom workflows include: ) extraction of specific coordinate formats only, ) extraction of place names based on a specific Custom Location gazetteer, 3) extraction of specific Custom Attributes, 4) extraction for specific document formats, or all of the aforementioned. To publish a custom LocateXT geoprocessing service, do the following: 3. In ArcMap, select the Geoprocessing drop-down menu, and then Results.. In the Results window, delete all previous geoprocessing results for a clear slate. 3. In the Catalog window, Right-click on a toolbox and select New--Model 4. The ModelBuilder window appears. Click on the Add Data or Tool button. 5. Browse to the toolbox containing the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool, select and add it by clicking the Add button. 6. The Modelbuilder window shows the tool added in. Right-click on the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server tool object and select Make Variable--From Parameter-- Input File. 7. Double-click on the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool to open it Continued on next page

8.0 Publishing a Custom LocateXT Geoprocessing Service 8. The LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool is now open. Configure all other parameters and options that are desired to be in the custom model. Some key considerations/options: Identify/extract coordinates or not? Perform Custom Attribute extraction based on a LocateXT Custom Attributes file (.lxtca)? Extract place names based on a LocateXT Custom Location gazetteer file (.lxtgaz) or not? Fuzzy error level if using Custom Locations Date formats? For example, the configuration shown is designed for social media. It does not look for geocoordinates. It does look for place names based on a Syria-based gazetteer, including fuzzy match. It also performs key word searches for terms referring to the Kurds (Kurd, Kurdish, etc.) 9. When configured as desired, click OK. 0. The model is filled in with inputs and parameters.. Right-click on the Input File and the Output Feature Class objects in the model and select Model Parameter.. The final model will have the letter P above the Input File and Output Feature Class objects. Notice the LocateXT Custom Locations gazetteer and Custom Attributes files are also model inputs. 3. Click Model on the top menu and select Save As Continued on next page

8.0 Publishing a Custom LocateXT Geoprocessing Service 4. Name and Save the model. 5. In the Catalog window, select and Open the model. 6. Select a file (make sure it is a text file.txt) to process and name and browse to save location for a feature class output. Click OK to run the model. 7. Spatial results will be displayed on the map. NOTE/ TIP: The resulting features will be a small point feature of random color. If you prefer for the Custom service to output a different symbol/color (perhaps something more obvious), change the symbol now before moving to the next step. 8. Select Geoprocessing from the top menu, then Results. 9. In the Results window, right-click on the Model results item and select Share As--Geoprocessing Service. 4 5 Continue on next page

8.0 Publishing a Custom LocateXT Geoprocessing Service 0. Choose to Publish a service now, Save the definition for later, or to Overwrite an existing service. Click Next.. Choose a Server connection with permissions to publish and Name the service. Click Next.. Use the existing (root) folder or create a New folder on the server for organizational purposes. Click Continue. 3. In the Service Editor window, Click on Geoprocessing on the left-side list menu. Make sure Upload is checked under Operations allowed. 4. Click on Parameters on the left-side list menu. Choose Synchronous or Asynchronous. 5. Click on Item Description on the left-side list menu. The Summary, Tags, and Description fields must be populated. Edit as desired. It also may be necessary to populate Descriptions for the model Input and Output. 6. Click the Analyze button on the top of the Service Editor window to ensure the service is configured properly, checking for problems. See NOTE below. 7. Click the Publish button (if there are no significant errors from the Analyze) to publish the service. 8. If the Custom Service is using a LocateXT Custom Attributes or Custom Location Gazetteer file, it must be copied to the Server. Click OK to accept and continue. 9. Publishing can take seconds to minutes. Watch for the Successfully published service window and click OK to complete the process When the Analyze service button is clicked and the service is analyzed for possible errors, these possible errors will be shown. This is expected behavior and you can continue. LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool for 0.3 is based upon a DLL and may not be available in other installations. This is expected behavior and will not create a problem. Data source used by Model is not registered with the server and will be copied to the server. 9 7

8.0 Publishing a Custom LocateXT Geoprocessing Service A custom LocateXT geoprocessing service is now hosted on the server. To use the custom LocateXT service:. In the Catalog window, browse/connect to the ArcGIS Server, find the LocateXT service and open.. The LocateXT service window is opened. Select a file to process. 3. Click OK. 4. The LocateXT geoprocessing service returns the results back to the client. 3 Publishing custom LocateXT geoprocessing services can provide a highly automated tool that is easy to use. However, it provides less flexibility on the fly than a basic LocateXT service where all options are available. In many cases, hosting both types of services will provide the best overall capabilities. 8

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool The LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool includes a special python script tool that can be used to capture the local file path and time modified data of files processed with the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool. When using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool, a user s local file is uploaded to the Server for processing and results are sent back. Due to this process, the local file path (the LocateXT Filename field) and the file time modified (the last time the file was modified in Windows - the LocateXT Modified field) are based on the Server, and not the local user machine. Therefore, the Filename field will contain an ArcGIS for Server folder path on the remote server and the Modified field will contain the time modified on the Server - neither are useful. To demonstrate:. The file Lake Erie Docks.txt is located in the C:\data folder and has a time modified of 7/4/05 at :pm.. Once the file is processed by a LocateXT geoprocessing service however, the local file path (Filename) and the time modified (Modified UTC) are not accurate. They reflect the Server process. 3. The Filename and modified time python tool can be used in conjunction with a model to capture the accurate data. 3 9

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool There are two ways to setup the tool. To add the tool to an existing toolbox, do the following:. In the Catalog window, browse to the LocateXT install directory (typically C:\Program Files (x86) \ClearTerra\LocateXT or C:\Program Files\ClearTerra\LocateXT). Browse and open the LocateXT Helper Tools toolbox and right-click and copy the Filename and modified time tool. 3. Browse to the desired toolbox location, right-click on the toolbox, and Paste the tool into the toolbox. 4. The Filename and time modified tool is now in the same toolbox as the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server tool. 3 4 To add the tool by adding a new toolbox, do the following: 5. Click the ArcToolbox button in ArcMap. 6. In the ArcToolbox window, right-click on the top level folder (ArcToolbox) and select Add Toolbox 7. Browse to the LocateXT install directory (either of the locations described in Step above) 8. Select the LocateXT Helper Tools toolbox and Click Open. 9. The toolbox is added and the Filename and modified time tool is now available The two setup options above are not necessary to use the tool, but simply suggestions of how to move the tool into a desired location. 8 0

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool To use the Filename and modified time tool, it must be put into a model along with an existing geoprocessing service. Do the following:. Right-click on the desired toolbox and select New-- Model. In the model window, click on the Add Data or Tool button. 3. Browse to and select and add in the Filename and modified time tool. 4. The model looks as shown. Again, click on the Add Data or Tool button. 5. Browse to the Server that has a LocateXT geoprocessing service. 6. Select a LocateXT Geoprocessing service and add to the model Continued on next page

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool 7. The model should now look as shown. 8. Right-click on the File name and modified time tool object, select Make Variable--From Parameter--Input File. 9. The model should now look as shown. 0. Click on the Connect tool in the model window.. With the Connect tool, click on the Output File object once, and move the connector line to the LocateXT Geoprocessing Service object and click once again.. On the resulting menu, select Input File Continued on next page

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool 3. With the Connect tool, click on the Output name object once, and move the connector line to the LocateXT Geoprocessing Service object and click once again. 4. On the resulting menu, select Input file link text (local path). 5. With the Connect tool, click on the Output modified object once, and move the connector line to the LocateXT Geoprocessing Service object and click once again. 6. On the resulting menu, select Input file modified data and time. 7. Right-click on the Input File object and select Model Parameter. Note the P for parameter above the object. 8. Right-click on the Output Feature Class object and select Model Parameter Continued on next page

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool 9. The final model should look as shown. 0. Select Model from the top menu and then Save As. Name and save the model to a desired location

9.0 Using the LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Filename and modified time Python Tool The new model combines the Filename and modified time tool along with a published LocateXT geoprocessing service into one tool that can still use a service, but also maintain the local file attributes desired.. In the Catalog window, select and open the model.. Select a file to process and click OK. 3. Note the proper local file path (Filename field) and time modified (Modified field) in the output. The local hyperlink to this file will work. 4. This capability is especially useful if several files are processed with the Batch function

0.0 LocateXT ArcGIS for Server Tool used in ArcGIS Platforms LocateXT geoprocessing services can be used with ArcMap clients and web mapping applications such as ArcGIS Viewer for Flex or WebAppBuilder. ArcMap 4 ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 6 3
