1 Joomla 2.5 Kunena Component Installation For installing the Kunena component in Joomla 2.5, you have to first login through the administrative panel of joomla by simply entering the url_of_your_website/administrator in your browser. Enter the username, password and leave the Language to Default, click on Login as shown in Diagram 1. Diagram 1 After logging in to the backend, a control panel page opens as shown in Diagram 2. The Control Panel provides access to many default Joomla! functions and features. From the Control Panel, you can create and manage articles and categories. Other features available in the Control Panel are the media, menu, language, and user managers. Diagram 2 1

2 In the top menu, locate Extensions. Click Extensions. From the drop down menu that appears click on Extension Manager as shown in Diagram 3. Diagram 3 An Extension Manager page opens. In the Upload Package File section, click the Browse button as shown in Diagram 4. Diagram 4 After clicking on the Browse Button a file navigator window opens. Navigate to the appropriate folder where the Kunena component zip file is located, select and open the file as shown in Diagram 5. Diagram 5 2

3 The zip file name appears in the Package File text box. Click Upload & Install in order to upload the Kunena component zip file and install it into the Joomla framework as shown in Diagram 6. Diagram 6 Once the Kunena component zip file has been uploaded you will see the successful installation message with description as shown in Diagram 7 and then click on finish. Diagram 7 3

4 Now to display the Kunena Forum on a website page we need to create a menu and assign Kunena to this menu item. In the top menu, locate Menu. Click Menu. From the drop down menu that appears click Top and then click Add New Item as shown in Diagram 8. Diagram 8 The Menu Manager: Edit Menu Item page opens. To select the Kunena Forum click on Select as shown in the Diagram 9 Diagram 9 4

5 A Lightbox appears. Select Home Page under Kunena Forum title as shown in the Diagram 10 Diagram 10 Enter all the details required and click Save and Close as shown in Diagram 11. This will save the Menu Item and close the edit screen. You can also click Save, in order to save the Menu Item and stay on the editing screen. Diagram 11 5

6 Now click on View Site at the top-right hand corner as shown in the Diagram 12 Diagram 12 The homepage of the website opens. In the top menu click on Kunena Forum as shown in the Diagram 13 Diagram 13 6

7 The Kunena Forum page will appear as shown in Diagram 14. Diagram 14 7

8 Uninstallation: To uninstall Kunena, in the top menu, locate Extensions. Click Extensions. From the drop down menu that appears click on Extension Manager as shown in Diagram 3. Diagram 15 An Extension Manager page opens. Click on Manage as shown in the Diagram 4 Diagram 16 8

9 The Extension Manager: Manage page opens as shown in Diagram 5. Select component from dropdown list. Select the check-box adjacent to Kunena and then click the Uninstall icon at the top-right hand corner as shown in Diagram 5. This will successfully uninstall the Kunena component.
