Creating Book Trailers Using Photo Story 3 Why Photo Story 3? It is a free program anyone can download. Before you begin using Photo Story 3 you will need to create a folder and title it Book Trailer. Store all of your pictures, music, and JPEG slides in this folder. You will also need to create your citation page, creator page, blank page, and any other text as JPEG and store in this folder. Open Photo Story 3 and select Begin a new story Click Next at the bottom of the window Click Import Pictures Follow the prompts to located and upload the pictures and any other JPEG slides you saved on your computer in your Book Trailer folder.
The imported photos will be viewable in a filmstrip along the bottom of the program window. Click and drag the pictures to arrange pictures in order. Each picture can be edited using the tools under the picture. Hover over icon to see what it does. When you have made the changes you wish to that picture, click the arrow on the bottom right corner of the edit area to go to the next picture for editing. Save your project before moving to the next step by clicking Save Project. (Save to student server)
When you have edited each image and are ready for the next step in the process, click the Next button. You can select Back if you wish to go back and change something in a previous step. After you click the next button you are ready to begin adding text to the image. A text box will be located on the right side of the image Buttons above the text box allow for editing the font on each slide. More Effect Options can be accessed through the drop-down menu underneath the image After you have added the text for each slide, select Next to move to the next step. You can select Back if you wish to go back and change something in a previous step. Click Save Project (Save after each step) The next step is adding narration and motion to each slide To record narration click on the Red button and click the Square button to stop narration (You may skip this step if you are not recording voice) To add slide animation click on Customize Motion button Select the Motion and Duration tab
Set the start and end position for the image by clicking and dragging the size of the image. The best way to explain this is to say that the anything inside the box is what moves. Whatever the box is located is where the end slide stops. Customize the duration of the slide Save between each slide Select the Transitions tab Customize the transitions between each slide. Customize the length of transitions Click on the first image slide in the timeline and select the Preview button to watch the video in its current state Continue to click Save Project Click the Next button when you are ready to move to the next step. You can always click Back if you wish to back and change something from a previous step. The next step is to add music. Select Music to add the audio file. Navigate to the location of your music file on your computer. (should be in your student server in the book trailer folder) Or add electronic music by selecting Create Music and following the prompts. Once you have added or created your music, click Preview to see the video When you are happy with the music selection and volume, choose Save Project Click Next button to move to the next step. You can select Back if you need to make changes to something from previous step.
The final screen is for saving your Photo Story You need to save this project in two ways: as a project and as a movie 1. Select Save Project... You should have been saving after each step. By saving the project this way, Photo Story will allow you to access and make changes. Once the project is saved as a movie, no more changes can be made. Having the video saved in the project format allows you to make changes and save the video again. 2. You will need to select how you want the movie saved. Select the first option Save your story for playback on your computer. This will save the video as a Window Media Video(WMV) file. Save to your h: drive in your Book Trailer file and click Next The program will render and save your Photo Story. The screen will show that your story was saved successfully and allow you to view the finished product.
