1 How to boot Mac OS X 10.5 from RocketRAID esata for Mac Step 1: Prepare 3 files 1) Carbon Copy Cloner 2) EFI BIOS 3) Driver for Mac OS X 10.5 Step 2: Install Mac OS X 10.5 Install Mac OS X onto the hard disk connected to the Mac Pro system. Step 3: Install Driver Install RocketRAID esata for Mac driver for Mac OS X 10.5, and restart system. Step 4: Create install partition on array. Log into the RocketRAID esata for Mac web GUI, and create an RAID array or single disk. Open Apple Disk Utility then partition and erase RAID array or single disk. Step 5: Clone Mac OS X ) Install Carbon Copy Cloner. This is the Carbon Copy Clone website: 2) Open Carbon Copy Cloner. 3) Select Source Disk and Target Disk. 4) Click Clone. * Visit Carbon Copy Cloner web site to get more info. Step 6: Flash EFI BIOS. 1) Log into the RocketRAID esata for Mac web GUI 2) Use the update firmware function to flash EFI BIOS. Step 7: Set startup disk. Open System Preferences, click Startup Disk, select startup disk attached to the RocketRAID esata for Mac. Step 8: Restart System

2 Install XP or Vista on RAID Array or Single Disk Install Steps (Windows Vista): 1) Update BIOS to EFI BIOS and Install Mac OS X 10.5 (Get more info from "How to Boot Mac OS X 10.5.pdf") 2) Remove the Apple internal SATA disks. You can insert them after the installation. Note: (This is a precaution to prevent problems during installation of Windows). 3) Boot up, MacOSX from our array. 4) Update BIOS on RocketRAID esata for Mac to standard PC BIOS. 5) Run Boot Camp Assistant, create Boot Camp partition on array, Insert vista CD, reboot. 6) Now, install windows vista to Boot Camp partition! Windows driver in USB or CD is needed when install vista. Note: Bootcamp partition must be formatted when in installing. *Don't transpose the steps. *Step 1,2,3,4 is only for create Boot Camp partition on array. Boot Camp partition can't be created on our array if MacOSX boot up from apple internal SATA HD. Perhaps MacOSX new version Boot Camp has this limitation. So we have to boot from our array and make Boot Camp partition on it. (re. "Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide"). Which version of windows is supported: See more info from "Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide" manual from Apple Inc. After install finished: * If you using EFI BIOS, you can only start Mac OS system in Array. * If you using standard pc BIOS, you can only start Win system in Array. 3 2) Remove all disks from apple internal SATA, and you can insert them after install finished. (This step can void much trouble in installing windows on Raid Adapter). 3) Boot up Mac OSX from our array. 4) Update BIOS to standard pc BIOS 5) Run Boot Camp Assistant, create Boot Camp partition on array, Insert XP CD, reboot. Note: The XP CD must integrate card driver for windows XP. (Get more info from "How to make OEM windows CD") 6) Now, install windows XP to Boot Camp partition! Note: Boot Camp partition must be formatted when in installing. *Don't transpose the steps. *Step 1,2,3,4 is only for create Boot Camp partition on array. Bootcamp partition can't be created on our array if Mac OSX boot up from Apple internal SATA HD. Perhaps Mac OSX new version Boot Camp has this limitation. 7 Step9: Select Textmode driver, and select x32 for x32 OS or x64 for x64 OS:
