1 System information update for system board replacement events Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) When you replace the system board on the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1, the system s EEPROM is not able to detect the platform information from the new system board, consequently the tablet does not function properly. To address this, you need to rewrite the system board information in the EEPROM to enable the correct functioning of the tablet. HP has developed a tool, bundled within the latest version of the DMIFIT tool, which enables you to manually update the new system information from the command-line interface and overwrite the system information stored in the system's EEPROM. This SOP discusses how to manually update the system information in the EEPROM on the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1. August 2015 Page 1

4 Before you begin Before you update the tablet s system board information, make sure you have the latest version of the system board update tool NbDmiFit-2.07, or later. NOTE: The NbDmiFit-2.07 tool contains the files required to update the system board information. Also, be sure to check the following prerequisites: 1. Make sure to have the following items: USB flash drive (at least 1GB) Formatted as a bootable disk Host computer that runs a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8 operating system USB hub External USB keyboard On-the-go (OTG) microusb-to-usb cable SOP document 2. Use the USB hub and the OTG microusb-to-usb cable to connect the tablet to the USB hub. Then, plug the USB flash drive and the external keyboard in to the USB hub. 3. Copy the NbDimFit.2.07 tool to the bootable USB flash drive. You also need to do the following: Check whether the tablet uses a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system (OS). Make sure the tablet has sufficient battery power to perform the system board details update. Tools and SOP location If you don t already have the required DMIFIT tool for the tablet you will need to download it from the appropriate platform folder at the HP Channel Services Network SharePoint location. An account is required to access this site and if you don't have one, you can request one: If you are an external partner, you should contact your HP CSN administrator at your company to get a CSN user account. If you have HP internal access, you should fill out the Channel Services Network Internal User Request Form and it to mailto:hpsd.system.cases@hp.com. You should also find the SOP for the procedure at the same location. August 2015 Page 4
