2 1. First recmmendatins: See the Media type functinality & features and chse the mst apprpriate media. It is essential yu the media type crrectly calibrated with the printer and print mde, cnsult the Calibrate my printer sectin. In rder t get a crrect display, it s als essential yu have the mnitr calibrated, cnsult the Prfile my mnitr sectin. 2. Open Adbe Illustratr CS2. 3. Cnfigure the Clr Settings, Edit menu > Clr Settings : Make sure the Advance Mde is displayed. Wrking Space > RGB: Select the prfile f the scanner r camera that yu have used t get the phts (surce prfile), if yu dn t have it, select Adbe RGB (1998).). Wrking Space > CMYK: Eurscale Cated v2 (fr Eurpe), U.S. Web Cated (SWOP) v2 (fr US) and Japan Standard v2 (fr Japan). Clr Management Plicies: Preserve Embedded Prfiles. Prfile Mismatches: check Ask When Opening and Ask When Pasting. Missing Prfiles: check Ask When Opening. Cnversin Optins > Intent: Perceptual (fr RGB images) r Relative Clrimetric (fr CMYK images). Click OK. 2

3 4. Open the image, File menu > Open : If the dcument has an embedded clr prfile that des nt match the current wrking space, select Use the embedded prfile. Otherwise, select Assign wrking space; in this case, if the displayed image des nt lk crrect, try assigning it t ther clr spaces with Edit > Assign Prfile (try srgb, Adbe RGB, ClrMatch RGB and thers) until yu are satisfied. Click OK. 5. If yu place an image, yu can embed the image in the dcument. If it has an embedded prfile, it will be cnverted frm the embedded clr prfile t the dcument clr prfile preserving the clr appearance. If it desn t have an embedded clr prfile, Illustratr will assign the dcument clr prfile. File menu > Place : brwse t the image and uncheck the Link checkbx. If yu are asked Hw d yu want t treat the data? Select Cnvert. Click OK. 3

4 6. Make sure yu have cnfigured the Dcument Setup apprpriately fr yur dcument, File menu > Dcument Setup. 7. Driver Settings, File menu > Print : Printer: Select the printer (ex. HP Designjet Z in Pht). Page Setup : Frmat fr: Select the printer. Paper Size: Select the paper size f the media laded n the printer. Orientatin: Select the rientatin f yur image n the paper. Click OK. Printer... buttn: Paper Type/Quality > Paper tab: Paper Type: Select the media type that is laded n the printer. Quality Optins: Standard and drag the slider t Quality. Clr tab: Select Print in clr. Select Clr Management > Applicatin Managed Clrs. 4

5 Click Print. 8. Adbe Illustratr Print settings: General (left hand menu): Media > Size: Defined by Driver. Optins: Select the scaling ptin yu need. Clr Management (left hand menu): Print Methd > Clr Handling: Let Illustratr determine clrs. Print Methd > Printer Prfile: Select the prfile f the printer and media type that yu will use t print. Print Methd > Rendering Intent: Perceptual (fr RGB images) r Relative Clrimetric (fr CMYK images). 5

Yu shuld cnsider that each persn has their wn perceptin and their wn subjective pinin abut the result; this is because there are varius factrs that can influence ur pinins, such as the type f pht (prtrait, landscape ), the surce clr space, the media used, the envirnmental cnditins, the subjective perceptin abut yur wn pht, etc... This means that the printing suggestin may nt cmpletely match with yur wn persnal pinin. 6
