Havig defied the project structure ad selected the basic techical data, the required paels for medium voltage trasformers protective ad sw itchig devices for low voltage busbar trukig systems, icludig the specificatio of special compoets such as feed-i compoets, directioal chage compoets ad pow er tap-off uits chargig uits for electric vehicles ad other sigle compoets ca be selected. By automatically selectig ad placig suitable pow er distributio board systems based o your specificatios, SIMARIS project fids the space requiremets of the pow er distributio as w ell as the basic data for determiig the required budget, w hich you ca request from your Siemes cotact w ith the data from SIMARIS project. Or, you ca draft it yourself i a budget sheet that ca be saved. 5 1.3 Setup istructios Setup from DVD Close all other applicatios o your computer. Isert the SIMARIS DVD ito the DVD drive ad start setup.exe. The setup w izard guides you through the istallatio ad ot oly eables you to istall SIMARIS project, but also SIMARIS desig ad SIMARIS curves. SIMARIS project caot be selected for all coutries ow ig to the product portfolio cotaied, so that this program ca oly be istalled if you have selected at least oe of the available coutries i the coutry selectio. A specificatio of coutries for w hich SIMARIS project is curretly available ca be foud at w w w.siemes.com/simarisproject Follow the istructios of the setup w izard. SIMARIS project ca be set up as local istallatio oly, i.e. ot as a etw ork istallatio. Please check after program istallatio, w hether updates are available ad istall them if required. To check w hether a update is available, you ca use the Help meu 14 à "Start olie-update" to make a query provided your computer is coected to the Iteret. The you ca directly istall available updates olie. Aother optio is to use the Help meu 14 à "Dow load update package" to call the correspodig page of the SIMARIS w ebsite to dow load the update package ad istall it afterw ards. By settig or removig checkmarks, follow ed by a click o the "Accept" butto, you ca istall or uistall techology packages. The iformatio about available techology packages is provided from the DVD ad their setup is iitiated from there, too. Havig dow loaded the.zip file that ca be accessed through this lik, decompress it o the hard disk of your computer ad the start setup_sp40.exe. Follow the istructios of the setup w izard. SIMARIS project ca be set up as local istallatio oly. The iitally dow loaded istall package oly comprises the basic package for istallig SIMARIS project. I the process of the setup routie you w ill be asked i oe w idow w hich techology packages (coutries) you w at to istall. After you have ticked off the coutries you require, the istallatio of the desired techology packages is performed olie, meaig these packages are dow loaded durig the setup process. Oly those days are couted o w hich you actually ope the program. I order to be able to use SIMARIS project permaetly, you must register o the Iteret at w w w.siemes.com/simaris/register. Please eter your data there ad request a licece by submittig the form. This licece w ill the be set to you by w ithi half a hour. Please save the file w ith the extesio.lic (= licece key) o your computer. As log as the licece key has ot bee read i, you w ill be asked durig every program start, w hether you w at to read i the licece key ow or respectively, w hether you w ould like to register ow or later. Clickig the "Import licece key" butto starts the import process of your licece key. The brow ser opes w here you ca set the file path of your licece key ad select the licece file idetified by the file extesio.lic-sp. As soo as you ope this file, the licece file is read i ad the program is started. Clickig the "Register ow " butto automatically opes the registratio page for the SIMARIS tools provided you are olie. How to proceed from there w as decribed i the previous sectio. Clickig the "Register later" butto takes you straight to the program, but you w ill be asked about registratio agai durig the ext program start. You ca also iitiate the licece key import w hile the program is ruig usig the Extras meu 12 à"licece". 6

7 1.3.4 Setup ad use of coutry-specific versios I the setup w izard, you ca select techology packages you w at to istall from a list of coutries. O the oe had, this implies the laguage selectio, because every coutry selectio istalls the atioal laguage ad Eglish as laguages. O the other had, this also implies the istallatio of the techology package pertaiig to the selected coutry, i.e. the product ad systems rage available for the coutry, the techology w hich complies w ith the regulatios ad coditios of the respective coutry. It is possible to select several coutries, w hich is above all ecessary if you are editig projects for differet coutries, because you should, of course, edit each project w ith the relevat techology package oly. If you later w at to edit a project for a coutry w hose techology package / laguage is ot istalled, you ca do so w ithout ay problems w ith the help of the Extras meu 12 à "Localisatio", or by restartig the istallatio, selectig aother coutry or several more coutries ad thus istallig the required laguages ad techology packages. All istalled coutries ad, if a coutry w as selected, also the associated laguages are provided for selectio i the program step Project Defiitio 17. How ever, ay chage of coutry selectio requires a program restart. Please ote that i that case ay available updates must also be reistalled, sice a update alw ays istalls that part w hich belogs to the coutry packages already istalled o your computer. How to check w hether a update is available ad how to dow load ad istall it is described i the sectio Setup from DVD 5 ad Setup after dow load 6 If you have created a project i a specific coutry settig ad ope this project w hile have made a differet coutry selectio, you w ill be iformed that to ope this project, your coutry settig must be adapted accordigly. This meas that the coutry settig for a project caot be chaged at a later stage. Whe editig projects for differet coutries, the atioal laguage ad Eglish are each provided for editig. This meas, for example, that you ca edit the project i Eglish, but you ca chage to the atioal laguage for documetatio purposes. Or you ca sed the project file to the respective coutry ad the editor there ca ope ad edit the project i his/her atioal laguage. 7

9 2.2 Navigatio bar / workflow bar With the help of the avigatio bar you ca go to the desired program step by directly clickig it. Project Defiitio Uder, you ca fid the subordiate project steps i w hich you ca eter the project data ad desig the project structure from the various systems. System Plaig Uder Medium-voltage sw itchgear is compiled i you ca fid subordiate project steps depedig o the selected system, i w hich you ca pla the respective system. from the cubicles library. Trasformers, busbar trukig systems ad sigle compoets are compiled uder from device libraries or a catalogue. Low -voltage sw itchgear is automatically cofigured after you have selected devices, w he you sw itch from "A Device List" to "B Frot View " or ca be cofigured directly i the program step "B Frot View ". Low -voltage sw itchgear is automatically cofigured after you have selected devices, w he you sw itch from "A Device List" to "B Frot View ". Chargig uits for electric vehicles are selected i usig the available templates. Budget Uder you ca fid the subordiate project steps, i w hich you ca either sed your project file to your SIEMENS cosultat for budget price calculatio or calculate a budget yourself i the summary of the cofigured systems. 9

10 Project output Uder you get directly to the output scree w ithout havig to select a subordiate project step. For the etire project or idividual systems you ca create a documet to be edited i your w ord processig program ad/or a teder specificatio text i Germa or Eglish i GAEB90 or text format. For sw itchgear, trasformers ad pow er distributio boards you ca geerate frot view s, ad for sw itchgear ad distributio boards also sigle-lie diagrams i.dxf format. 2.3 Ico bars Mai widow New project Delete Ope project Oly those projects ca be opeed w hich w ere created w ith the same coutry settig as the oe curretly set. If you w at to ope a project w ith a differet coutry settig, proceed as described i chapter Project meu 11 i this Help text. Cut Save project Copy Save project as Paste Graphic area I the selectio m ode you ca select required compoets (e.g. complete cubicles/sectios, devices) i the graphic area. I the area selectio m ode you ca select several required compoets (e.g. complete cubicles/sectios, devices) i the graphic area. I the zoom m ode you ca zoom ito a cut-out of the graphic. By clickig the geeral view butto, the etire plat is show i the graphic. By clickig this butto, the etire plat is displayed horizotally aliged. 11 2.4 Meu bar ad key combiatios Project meu I the Project meu, select New project to create a ew project. Ope project to ope a existig project w ith the extesio.sp. Save to save the curret project. Save As... to save the curret project i a freely selectable project path uder ay ame. Import from SIMARIS desig... to import a SIMARIS desig file w ith the extesio.sx. oe of the projects last edited from the displayed listto further edit it. Exit to close SIMARIS project. If you try to ope a project created w ith a differet coutry settig tha the oe curretly set, a error message w ill be displayed, sice the coutry settig, ad thus the techology package, oce selected w he a project w as ceated, caot be chaged ay more i SIMARIS project later. To be able to ope the project, you must first choose the regioal settigs i "1 Project Defiitio" at "B Project Data" that match this project. If they caot be selected, you may possibly have to istall a matchig techology package. The procedure how to istall techology packages later is explaied i chapter Setup after dow load 6 ad Setup from DVD 5 i this Help text Edit meu The optios Cut, Copy, Paste ad Delete ca be foud i the Edit meu ad also uder the same icos i the ico bar of the mai w idow. 11

12 2.4.3 Extras meu I the Extras meu, select Localisatio (Regioalisatio) to add or remove techology packages for differet coutries. Istallatio/uistallatio of techology packages is performed depedet o your selectio, as soo as you click the "Apply" butto. Licece to check your licece status, or to import a ew licece. The licece file to be imported i SIMARIS project comes w ith the file extesio.lic-sp. Settigs to specify persoal settigs defied for SIMARIS project. A w idow opes i w hich a tree is displayed o the left w ith the user prefereces that ca be set: 12 - If "Wizards" is selected, the right part of the w idow provides the optio for eablig or disablig w izards. This meas by removig the checkmark, you ca deliberately disable automatic distributio board cofiguratio for certai plat types ad eable it later, or eable it for a differet project. - Whe selectig "Notificatio service", it is possible to eable or disable the otes below the avigatio bar.

Show SIMARIS desig Im port Log to check the import of a project from SIMARIS desig. A complete log is geerated i w hich you ca check w hich devices w ere imported, for example, w hether the order umber w as perhaps adjusted for some devices, or w hether o suitable device might have bee foud. Ope GAEB Error Log i order to be able to uderstad errors durig specificatio text export i the GAEB format, if ay. 15 3 First Start 3.1 Call start wizard Whe you start the SIMARIS project softw are, the start w izard opes automatically Create ew project Select "Create a ew project". Clickig "Next" opes the w idow for the project data. Eter the project data here. The etry of a project ame is madatory (default etry is "ew "), the etry of ay other project data is optioal. With "Next" you are requested to save the project i a user-cofigurable project path. Clickig "Fiish" saves the project file. 15

16 3.1.2 Import from SIMARIS desig Select "Import from SIMARIS desig" i the start w izard ad the "Brow se..." to select a SIMARIS desig file w ith the extesio.sx. By clickig the "Fiish" butto, the SIMARIS desig file is imported Ope existig project Select "Ope existig project" i the start w izard ad the "Brow se..." to select a SIMARIS project file w ith the extesio.sp. By clickig the "Fiish" butto the SIMARIS project file is opeed. Whe a project is imported w hich w as created w ith a previous versio of SIMARIS project, a backup file w ith the same ame but a differet extesio is created. This file extesio cotais the versio umber of the SIMARIS project versio i w hich the project w as created. This eables you - if required - to post-edit the project agai w ith the previous versio o the basis of this file status. 17 4 Project Defiitio After a project w as loaded or created ad the start w izard completed, you w ill automatically be take to program step "1 Project Defiitio".à "B Create Project Structure". I order to be able to view data kept i the project defiitio from other editig steps, or to complete ad chage them, click o the avigatio bar ad choose - depedig o w hether you w at to edit the project data or the project structure - "A Project Data" or "B Project Structure". 4.1 Project data Below you w ill fid a overview of how to edit project data ad the cotet available o this w idow. I a existig project, the master data, customer data ad commet ca be completed ad chaged uder at the top left. Localised settigs of SIMARIS project are show i the Project Defiitio at the botto left ad ca be adapted there. They are closely liked to the istalled coutry packages. This meas that by selectig a coutry, the associated techology package, w hich comprises the products suitable ad regioally available for the istallatio methods of the respective coutry, is used for cofiguratio, too. The atioal laguage ad Eglish ca be set for every coutry. Chagig the laguage ad/or the coutry oly becomes effective after a restart of SIMARIS project. To this date, 12 coutries w ith a total of 8 laguages ca be istalled ad set for SIMARIS project. A detailed list of all of the available coutry settigs is displayed i the setup ad ca be view ed olie at w w w.siemes.com/simaris. 17

18 O the right part of the scree, you ca display a overview of electrical pow er distributio i buildigs (for ifrastructure ad idustrial projects) by clickig the letterig "Totally Itegrated Pow er", w hich icludes a schematic graph of various compoets ad brief explaatios for each compoet that are show as soo as you hover the mouse poiter over oe of the compoets. I additio, both the graphic elemets ad the texts i the list o the right are liked to product pages of the compoets, so that you ca easily start a more comprehesive product search from the program. 18

20 4.2 Create project structure The follow ig is a defiitio of the terms used i the idividual areas of the user iterface of the project structure. Project tree Systems library Favourites 20 Data of the selected system

21 Uder To add a system, you ca select the systems required for the project structure. select the system i the systems library ad drag it to the project tree by keepig the left mouse butto pressed, - or double-click the required system i the systems library - The further defie the required features i the system-specific w izard for specificatio. To cut, copy or delete a system, - right-click the required system i the project tree ad select "Cut", "Copy" or "Delete" from the cotext meu, - - or select the system i the project tree ad the select the correspodig ico, or from the ico bar, or choose from the Edit meu à "Cut", "Copy" or "Delete" o the meu bar. To paste a system after havig cut or copied it, - right-click the desired positio i the project tree ad select "Paste" from the cotext meu, or select the desired positio i the project tree ad the select the ico or i the meu bar i the edit meuà "Paste" o the meu bar. If a system i the project tree is marked by the yellow ico, characteristics are missig for the specificatio. To eter these, - double-click the selected system i the project tree ad the select i the follow ig w idow s - stepw ise, if ecessary - the missig characteristics w hich are also marked by the yellow ico, either by eterig them or usig the drop-dow meu, - or select the system i the project tree ad the click "System Plaig" i the avigatio bar so that you ca select the missig characteristics i the same w ay. Users of SIMARIS Cofiguratio Advaced (SIMARIS CFA) ca export a SIVACON S8 low voltage sw itchboard from SIMARIS project i order to edit it further i SIMARIS CFA. To do so, select the plat i the project tree ad start the export usig the cotext meu (right mouse butto) by choosig "Export S8 à SIMARIS CFA" Hadlig of systems i the project structure Whe a system is added to the project tree, the w idow s for selectig the desired system as w ell as for eterig master data ad system characteristics are opeig oe after the other. Whe clickig the "Fiish" butto i the system characteristics w idow w ithout havig completely filled the characteristics, you w ill remai i the program step Project Defiitio ad ca add further systems to the project tree. Nevertheless, the system remais marked by, because specificatio characteristics are missig. The w idow for eterig the missig characteristics ca be opeed agai by double-clickig the marked system i the project tree. Whe clickig the "Fiish" butto after havig completely selected the required characteristics, you w ill automatically be take to the program step System Plaig. There you ca select the required trasformers, cubicles, devices, etc. from the templates or libraries depedig o the selected system type. How to hadle the various system types i the program step System Plaig is described i the follow ig chapter. The system data etered durig the creatio of the system ca be see ad also chaged o the bottom right i the "Plat data" area. To this ed, select the required system i the project tree so that the data of the selected system is displayed ad the make your chages i the correspodig fields, e.g. the system ame or commet. 21

22 4.3.1 Create ew medium-voltage switchgear Whe ew medium-voltage sw itchgear is created, the w idow for the system selectio opes first Oly those systems are displayed that match the set coutry selectio. This meas, the techology package for a coutry w ill offer oly those systems for selectio w hich are compatible w ith applicable regulatios of this coutry ad are also available there. By clickig the "Next" butto you get to the w idow for eterig the plat master data. Sice this w idow looks the same for all systems, it is show as a example here ad w ill ot be show ay more for the follow ig system types. 22

To do so, you must first create a folder o a drive you ca access, w here you w at to save your Favourites. But you ca also use the "My Library" folder created durig setup. If several users shall be eabled to access the saved Favourites, correspodig folder may also be created o a server drive accessible to them. By clickig the ico you ca defie the desired / this folder as storage locatio i the explorer. You ca ow save idividual systems from each edited project as favourites by selectig a system w ith the left mouse butto, draggig it to the list of favourites keepig the left mouse butto pressed ad droppig it there by releasig the mouse butto. The system is the added to the alphabetically sorted list. I the correspodig folder o the drive, you ca idetify the files cotaiig favourites by the file extesio.spx. If "Fuctioal edurace" w as selected for the busbar lie, the correspodig legth of promatig w ill be automatically show i the Promat ifomatio of the compoet list. Chagig the legth of the busbar lie also adjusts the legth value for the promatig. But a shorter promatig legth may be chose tha the legth of the busbar lie if promatig is ot required for the etire busbar lie.
