2 The Toolbar Moving the Toolbar Place the mouse at the top of the Toolbar near the Interwrite icon. Click and drag the Toolbar to the desired location. Resizing the Toolbar Place the mouse on the edge of the Toolbar. A double-headed arrow appears. Click and drag the double-headed arrow to change the size and layout of the Toolbar. Toolbar Settings Click on Workspace Menu and select Preferences. Click on the Toolbar Settings tab. In the Shape Files box, select a desired shape. Notice the Preview window. Note The Classic Rectangle seems to work the best. In the Toolbar Button Size section, select the desired size. Enable the Primary Toolbar The Primary Toolbar is a small toolbar with basic tools. Click on Workspace Menu and select Preferences. Click on the Toolbar Settings tab. In the Toolbar Options section, click to select Show Primary Toolbar. Enable Properties with Right Click When the Right Click is enabled, a right click displays the settings and properties for the selected object. Click on Workspace Menu and select Preferences. Click on the Toolbar Settings tab. In the Toolbar Options section, click to select the Use Right Click for Settings/Properties. Customizing a Toolbar Toolbars come in Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each can be customized with the desired tools. Click on Workspace Menu and select Preferences. Click on the Customize Toolbar tab. In the Current box, click on the down arrow and choose the desired toolbar to start with. To add a tool, drag the desired tool from Available Tools box to the Main Toolbar box. To remove a tool, drag the tool out of the Main Toolbar box. Changes can also be made to the Toolbox and the Right Click Toolbar. Click on Save Scheme. Type in a name for the toolbar. Davis School District, Farmington, Utah Page 2 Revised 10/5/2011

4 Page and Annotation Tools New Page Setup Freehand Text Freehand Shape Multicolor Pen Picture Pen Stamper New Page Setup allows the user to change the properties on blank, grid, gradient, and calendar pages or to access image pages. (See page 11) Freehand Text converts text written with a Mobi or a Pen into formatted text. Click on Freehand Text Select the font style, color, size, etc. from the Properties Bar. Write with a Mobi or a Pen. Freehand Shape converts a shape drawn with a Mobi or a Pen into a formatted basic shape. Click on Freehand Shape. Select the style, color, size, etc. from the Properties Bar. Draw the desire shape with a Mobi or a Pen. Multicolor Pen draws with two colors. The two modes of the Multicolor Pen are Gradient and Color on Color. Click on Multicolor Pen. Gradient o On the Properties Bar, click on Gradient. o On the Properties Bar, choose the color, width, and transparency of the Starting Color. o On the Properties Bar, choose the color and the transparency of the Ending Color. Color On Color o On the Properties Bar, click on Color on Color. o On the Properties Bar, choose the color, width, and transparency of the Border Color. o On the Properties Bar, choose the color, width, and transparency of the Inside Color. Picture Pen draws shapes or images in a line. Click on Picture Pen. The currently selected picture is displayed on the left side of the Properties Bar. Click on Current Picture and choose the desired picture. Click on Line Width and select the desired size. Click on Add Picture to add a new picture to the picture menu. Note: Images must be a BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, or PNG format type. Stamper adds a quick shape or image with each mouse click. Click on Stamper. Click on Current Picture and choose the desired picture. 5 Fill Fill adds quick fill color to image or page with each mouse click. Click on Fill. Click on the desired color in the Properties Bar. Click in the area to be filled. (The tip of the color coming out of the bucket is the end of the pointer.) Presentation and Multimedia Tools Curtain Capture Math Tools Compass Curtain displays a virtual curtain to partially cover the screen. Click on Curtain. Use the drag handles to resize the Curtain. The Properties Bar has choices to change the color, maximize the size, change transparency (scroll bar), and close the Curtain. Use this tool to capture items, windows, or screens from the computer screen or the Workspace page. Click on Capture. Same page or new page? o Select Place capture in new page to automatically create a blank page in Workspace with the captured image. o Unselect Place capture in new page to place as a graphic on the same page. Click on the desired option in the Capture window: o Partial Use the mouse to highlight a rectangular area on the screen to be captured as an image. o Freeform Use the mouse to draw around an area on the screen to be captured as an image. o Window Use to capture the foremost window, or move cursor to other windows, as an image. o Screen Use to capture the entire screen as an image. Compass draws circles, arcs, and measures distances interactively. Click on Compass. To move the compass, place the cursor over the compass (four headed arrow) and drag to the desired location. The number in the head of the compass indicates the distance between the points. Click on the double-headed arrow on the one leg of the compass and drag to the desired distance. On the Properties Bar, choose the desired color, line width, transparency, line ends, and line style. Click on the color end of the compass and drag to draw the arc or circle. The degrees in the head of the compass indicate the angle of the arc drawn thus far. Click on the Selection tool to exit. Davis School District, Farmington, Utah Page 5 Revised 10/5/2011

6 Ruler Protractor Triangle Main Tools Lesson Mode Ruler shows measurement between two points interactively and also converts from inches to centimeters. Click on Ruler and select the 20 cm or the 1 m ruler. The distance between the red lines is displayed in inches and centimeters. Drag the red lines to change the distance as desired. Exit the Ruler by clicking on the red button in the top corner. Protractor demonstrates angles and how to measure an angle interactively. Click on Protractor and select the 180 or the 360 protractor. The angle of the orange lines is displayed in radians and degrees. Drag the orange line to change the angle as desired. Exit the Protractor by clicking on the red button in the top corner. Triangle demonstrates how to measure distance or an angle interactively. Click on Triangle and select the Left Facing or the Right Facing triangle. The distance between the red lines is displayed on the short edge. Drag the red lines to change the distance as desired. The angle of the long edge of the triangle is displayed in the corner. Exit the Triangle by clicking on the red button in the top corner. Click on Lesson Mode to return to the default Workspace Toolbar in Interactive Mode. Annotate Over Desktop Office Mode Annotate Over Desktop is like Mouse Mode. The desktop is underneath and can be accessed for use without the annotations disappearing. Click on Annotate Over Desktop. Use the Selection tool for mouse function. When another tool is selected, a prompt asks if the annotations should be saved as a page or discarded. Office Mode integrates Workspace tools with Microsoft Office programs. Click on Office Mode. Click on the appropriate tool to launch Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, or Excel. Click on Insert all annotations to insert the annotation(s) directly into the file. Click on Insert selected annotations to insert only the selected annotation(s). Click on Add Blank Slide to insert a new blank slide into PowerPoint. Click on Save as Slide in PowerPoint to save the current annotated screen as a slide in the open PowerPoint presentation. 7 Line Text Line creates straight lines. Click on Line. Click and drag to create the desired line. To change the angle or length of the line, click on the Selection tool and the fourheaded arrows to make the desired changes. Use the eraser tool to cut the line in parts maintaining the endpoints chosen for the original line. Use the circular arrow at the top of the box to change the angle of the line. Recycle Bin Selection Text creates text boxes on the page. Click on Text and then click on the page where the text to be placed. Type text into the box. Use the tools at the top of the box to change the text color, font, font size, bold, italic, underlined, justification, or bullets. Click on Duplicate Text to create a new copy of the text box with the same text. Click on Split Text to separate words into their own individual text boxes. Use the Recycle Bin to delete selected objects from the page. Drag the selected object to the Recycle Bin. The lid goes up when the object is dropped in. The Selection tool allows items to be selected and changed. Click on Selection and then select the desired item(s). Options to redo, undo, cut, copy, paste, select all, arrange, rotate, group, export, move to background, move to gallery, etc., are on the Properties Bar. When an item is selected, a bounding box appears around the item. Options for that item appear in the Properties Bar. Move o Place the mouse over the item to get the four-headed arrow. o Click and drag the item to the desired location. Resize o Click on the item. o Click on the Resize icon and drag box to new size. Rotate o Click on the item. o Click on Rotate at the top center of the box and drag to the desired angle. Lock o A locked item cannot be moved or changed. o Click on the item. o Click on Lock on the Properties Bar. o The Lock icon displays when the item is selected. o To unlock an item, click on it and then click on Lock. 8 Copier o When the Copier is turned on for an item, clicking and dragging creates a copy rather than moving it. o Click on the item. o Click on Copier on the Properties Bar. o The Copier icon displays when the item is selected. o Each time you click and drag the item a copy is dragged to the new location but the original item stays in place. o To move the original item the Copier must be turned off. o To turn off the Copier, click on the item and then click on Copier. Order Selected Entries o Items can be arranged in front or behind other items. o Click on the item. o Click on Order Selected Entries on the Properties Bar and choose Bring to Front, Send to Back, Bring Forward, or Send Backward. The Selection Tool Properties Blank Page Background Opens a blank page for use within the Annotation window. Grid Page Background Opens a grid page within the Annotation window. Page Background Color When Page Background Color is selected, the Colors dialog box opens. Select the color desired, and click OK. Page Transparency Click on Page Transparency and choose the desired transparency from the pop-up menu. Page Name and Notes Click on Page Name and Notes and type the name and any notes to be associated with the file. Page Transitions Snap To Grid Link Click on Page Transitions. Select desired effect and speed and click OK. See page 12. Workspace automatically aligns text, pictures, and other objects as placed or moved on the page by snapping them to an invisible grid. When Snap to Grid is turned off, Workspace allows placement or movement of items anywhere on the page. See page 15. Click on an item. Click on the Links tool to create a link for the selected item. 9 The Toolbox Click on Toolbox and choose the desired item. Open ExamView File Opens an Exam View file for use in Workspace. Import from a Device Obtain images, documents, or other files from a device such as a scanner or a digital camera and insert them into Workspace. Create Image Page Spotlight Link History Zoom Adds a page with a background image, such as a music staff or graphs. Click on Create Image Page and select the desired background image from the list or click on Import and browse to choose a file. Spotlight masks the page and only displays the area inside the spotlight shape. Click on Spotlight. Use the cursor to drag the Spotlight to the desired location. (Four-headed arrow) To change the size of the spotlight, move the cursor close to the shape to get a twoheaded arrow, and then click and drag. The Spotlight Properties Bar has resize handles, gives a menu option for shapes, transparency and window color, and closes the Spotlight. When done, click on the Close Spotlight button at the bottom of the screen. Link History is an account of the GWB links. It maintains a record of back links, allowing a click to follow the history of the links and go back to any of the links during the current session. Link History is only available when a presentation file is open in the Annotation window and a GWB link has been executed. Zoom enlarges a portion of a Workspace page for viewing details. Click on Zoom and then click on the portion of the page to be enlarged. Create Duplicate Page Creates a copy of the current page as a new page. Create Calendar Page Adds a new page with a calendar into the Workspace file. See page 12. Create Gradient Page Flash Player Adds a gradient page into the Workspace file. See page 12. Use to import an interactive Flash (.swf) file into the Workspace file. Davis School District, Farmington, Utah Page 9 Revised 10/5/2011

10 Audio File Video File Audio File imports an audio file in a virtual player onto the page with the name of the file in the player. File types include: WAV, MP2, MP3, MPA, MPEG, SND, WMA Click on the Toolbox and select Audio File. Browse to the desired file and click on it. In the player box, click on Play. The player has options to play, pause, stop, or change the volume of the audio file. Video File imports a video file in a virtual player onto the page with the name of the file in the player. File types include: AVI, WMV, MOV, MPEG Click on the Toolbox and select Video File. Browse to the desired file and click on it. In the player box, click on Play. A player window opens with Annotation tools and player controls. When selecting Annotation tools, the video automatically pauses to make notes on the video. To resume the video, click on Play. Export PDF File PDF File Pan Page Exports a Workspace lesson as a PDF (Portable Document Format). A file must be saved before it can be exported as a PDF. Exports a Workspace lesson to a PDF and opens the default client. A file must be saved before it can be exported as a PDF. Moves a page up, down, left, and right when viewing area is larger than the screen. Scroll bars are available to perform the same function. Onscreen Keyboard Lock Pads Onscreen Keyboard opens a virtual keyboard on screen. Note: Changing options for the keyboard only affects the keyboard itself. It does not affect the font or text. Click on the red button to close the keyboard. Lock Pads locks all wireless pads connected to Workspace except the Master pad. 11 Page Up Page Down Insert Media Page Up goes to the previous page in a PowerPoint slide show, while saving the annotated page in the Annotation window to the presentation file. Even though the tool was specifically designed to work with PowerPoint, it works with any application that is directly under Workspace and uses a Page Up command. Page Down goes to the next page in a PowerPoint slide show, while saving the annotated page in the Annotation window to the presentation file. Insert Media imports audio, video, or image files saved on the computer into Workspace. Device Manager Redo Preferences Device Manager opens the Device Manager window for connecting or disconnecting devices, such as the board, a panel, or pads. Redo reapplies a change that was recently undone. Preferences opens the Workspace Preferences window. Freehand Text Recognition Timer Freehand Text Recognition converts handwritten text into typed text and inserts the typed text into an active application, such as Word, or Excel. The Freehand Text Recognition window provides a spell checker and the ability to insert carriage returns, spaces, tabs and backspace characters into the text. Timer puts a timer on the screen for timed activities. Click on Timer. Click on the desired radio button to set the timer to Timer or Stopwatch. Timer o To set the Timer, click on the Set Timer drop-down arrow to select the length of time. o Click in the radio button to select Play Sound if desired. o Click on Start to begin. o Click on Stop to stop the sound if it was selected. Stopwatch o Click on Start to begin. o Click on Stop to end. o Click on Reset to return to 0. Click on the X to close the Timer Davis School District, Farmington, Utah Page 11 Revised 10/5/2011

12 Page Setup Gradient Pages Click on Workspace Menu and select Preferences. Click on Gradient Page Setup tab. For a two color page: o In the Two Color section, click in each of the color boxes at the top and choose the desired colors. o Click to choose the desired color pattern. For a four color page: o In the Four Color section, click in each of the color boxes at the top of the section and choose the desired colors. o Click to choose the desired color pattern. Click on Workspace Menu > Pages > Create Gradient Page OR click on Toolbox > Create Gradient Page. Calendar Pages Click on Workspace Menu > Pages > Create Calendar Page OR click on Toolbox > Create Calendar Page In the Dates section, select the desired view and the month and year. Click on the Choose Background Color button and choose the desired background color. Page Transitions Page Transitions provides different effects when moving from the page with the transition to another page. Open a page in Lesson Mode. Click on the Selection tool. On the Properties Bar, click on Page Transitions. Click on the Effect down arrow and choose the desired transition. If a speed is available for the transition, click on the Speed down arrow and choose the desired speed. A preview of the transition is shown. Click on Apply to All to apply this transition to all pages in the file. Copy and Paste Graphics can be copied and pasted into a Workspace page. Right click on the picture and select Copy. Go back to the Workspace lesson and navigate to the desired page. Paste the graphic on the page by clicking the Paste button or with Ctrl+V. 13 The Gallery Gallery tool Categories Note: The first time the Gallery is clicked on, it to load the content. Click Yes and then click Build. This will take a few minutes. Click on Gallery to open the Interwrite Gallery. The resources of the Gallery are organized into categories. Click on the desired category to view the files. Click on a sub-category if desired. The resources are displayed in the lower window. Use the bread crumbs or the navigation arrows at the top to navigate back. Click and drag the desired resource from the lower window to the existing page. Resources from Gallery There are several types of resources in the Gallery. Background o A folded corner indicates the image is a background that covers the whole screen on a page. o To delete a page: Click on Page Sorter. Click on the page to be deleted. Click on the Trash Can. Image o A single image can be resized, moved, or rotated on a page by using the selection tool and then clicking and dragging the item. Sims o The Flash symbol indicates the resource is an interactive program called a Sim. o A Sim is made in Flash and includes animation, sound, and/or games. Searching for Resources At the top of the Gallery window, click in the Search box and type in a keyword. Click on the Search button. Scroll through the resources in the lower window to find search matches. To search for a specific type of media: o Click on the Advanced Search tab. o Select the desired media type(s). o Enter a keyword in the Search For: box. o Click on the Search button. Gallery Tabs Content - Shows a folder-oriented display of categories. Just above the folder window is a bread crumb trail for navigating the Gallery. o Click on Pin button to Auto hide or Auto unhide tab details and only show category contents in the bottom pane of the Category window. Favorites - Displays all files added to favorites. Advanced Search - Allows searching by media type. Davis School District, Farmington, Utah Page 13 Revised 10/5/2011

Click to go back one Category. Click to go forward one Category. Type in a word to search for files in the Gallery. Click to search for a file within the Gallery. Click to clear the Gallery search window. Click to open the Onscreen Keyboard. Click to tag a file for quick access in a Favorites Category. Click to create a new category to insert your own files. Click to open the Add Files to Gallery window. Click to delete a file from the Gallery. Add Media from a Selection Media can be added to the Gallery. Select a Folder category or create a new category. Click on the Selection tool. Click on the item on the current page and drag it to the Category window of the Gallery Right click on the item in the Category window and choose Properties. Click in the Display Name box and enter a name for the item. Adding Media from a File Select a Folder category or create a new category. On the Gallery File Menu, click on File > Add Files to Gallery. Navigate to the location of the item and select it. File formats that can be added include: o Images: BMP, JPEG, GIF, EMF, WMF, TIFF, PNG, ICO o Sound: WAV, MP2, MP3, MPA, MPEG, SND, WMA o Video: AVI, WMV, MOV, MPEG Adding Media to Favorites Add the item to the Gallery if it is not already there. 15 Remove Media from the Gallery Select the item to be deleted and click on the Delete button. Right click on the desired resource to be removed in the lower Gallery window. Click on Delete. Other Resources Video Tutorials: To view video tutorials, go to the einstruction online tutorials ( Images Using Transparency with Images Images inserted on a page or in the Gallery have a background color, which covers objects under them. Use transparency to correct this. Click on Workspace Menu > Preferences. Click on the Transparency and Language tab. In the Options section, check the Use Transparency box. Click on the Change Transparent Color button and choose a color. Click on OK. Export Entities Export Entities allows annotations to be saved as image files to a location other than the Gallery. Use the Selection tool to select the annotation. Click on Export Entities on the Properties Bar. Click on the File Type down arrow and select the type of file. Click in the File Name box and enter a name for the file. Click on Browse and navigate to the location where the file is to be saved. In the Background section, choose the desired background. Click on Export. Using Snap to Grid Workspace automatically aligns text, pictures, and other objects as they are placed or moved on the page by snapping them to an invisible grid. When Snap to Grid is turned off, Workspace lets items be placed or moved anywhere on the page. The grid is turned on when the Snap to Grid button is depressed. To turn off the grid, click on the Snap to Grid button. To change the grid, click on Workspace Menu > Preferences > Options and make changes in the Snap Grid section. Then click OK. 16 Multi-User With the DualBoard, two people can write on the board at the same time with the pens. With multiple pads or Mobis, more than one can write on the screen at a time. Using the Multi-User option and RF receivers with the Mobi or DualBoard, up to 9 devices can write on the screen at the same time. Using a Bluetooth dongle, up to seven devices may be connected at once. Setting Up Multi-User First, connect all devices to be used in the Device Manager window. Open Workspace in Interactive Mode and create a blank page. Click on the Multi-User button on the bottom right corner of the Properties Bar. Note: The connected devices are displayed. Select Multi-User Page Setup or select Quick Start and select the number of areas. Select the desired page layout. Click on each device and drag it to the desired area. Note: Do not add the pad needed for controlling the main toolbar and the other devices. If this happens, the only way to maintain control of the multi-user devices is from the computer or a DualBoard Pen. Click Ok. Each device in the page layout has its own simplified toolbar. At the top of each user area are the Instructor tools. o The Zoom User tool enlarges an individual user s work within the entire multi-user window. o The Return to Settings tool returns the user back to multi-user view. o The Move User tool allows the instructor to move the user to another area within the Workspace page. Multi-User Individual Toolbar Select Erase Clear Pen Pen Color Select allows the user to select items within his or her window. Eraser removes text or annotations within the user's window. Clear deletes the selected object or objects. If nothing is selected on the page, Clear deletes everything in that user's window. Pan annotates within the user window. 17 Pen Width Export Entities Pen Width changes the width of the pen line. Export Entities is an instructor function allowing the instructor to export a user's work to save in another format. See page 15 for more information. Show/Hide Multi-User Show/Hide Multi-User is an instructor function allowing the instructor to show or hide a particular user's window. Show Tablet ID on Cursor The cursor can be set to identify the user. Click on Workspace Menu > Preferences... Click on the Options tab. In the Cursor Orientation section, check the Show Tablet ID on Cursor option. Note This is also where the pen can be set to be Right Handed or Left Handed. Device Manager Set Presenter The device used by the presenter can be set in the Device Manager. Open the Device Manager. Click on the device that is to be the master pad. Click on Options > Set Presenter and click OK OR click on the Set Presenter button. Locking Pads Locking a device presents it from communicating with Workspace. Open the Device Manager. Select the device to be locked. Click on the Lock Pad icon. To unlock, select the device and click on the Unlock Pad icon. To lock all pads, click on Toolbox > Lock Pads. 18 Programming Soft Keys The Board, Pad, and Mobi have programmable Soft Keys or short-cut keys. Note: The Board has three programmable keys, the Pad has nineteen, and the Mobi has fourteen. Soft Keys can be programmed to be another tool, function, webpage, program launch, document, or keyboard function. 19 Programming Custom Buttons for the Pad or Mobi Click on Workspace Menu > Preferences. Click on the Toolbar Settings tab. In the Custom Buttons section, click on the button to be programmed. In the Edit section, click in the Description box and enter a description. For access to a program or application, click on the Application path button, click on the Find button, and then navigate to the location of the desired program or application For a link to an Internet address, click on the Link button and then type or paste the address of the desired site in the box. Saving and Exporting Files Click on the Save button on the Toolbar OR click on Workspace Menu > File > Save or Save As. Enter a name for the file. Click on Save. The file is saved as a.gwb file type. To save files in a different format, press ctrl+e to open the Export Current Pages window. Select the desired format from the Export As drop-down list box. In the Export File Name field, type the new name of the file. In the Export Directory, use the default location or click Browse to open the Browse for Export Folder window and save the file in the location needed. In the Range field, select All or select Pages and type the range of pages to save. Click Export.
