3 STANDALONE - QUICK USER GUIDE ipac at a Glance This guide is intended for use by System Operators. Master Operators should refer to the ipac Installation Guide. To Log-in simply present your card or fob to the Enrollment Reader. Oneprox Enrollment Reader. Cardholders are simply and efficiently added by presenting a card or key fob to the enrollment reader which reads the unique embedded code. Similar to left and right mouse buttons, but typcially to cancel (left) or accept (right) changes The soft keys are located at the bottom of the screen, where the buttons invoke functions described by the text at that moment shown above the button on the ipac display The yellow context-sensitive help button provides help for the situation that is associated with that menu. The ipac is supplied with a USB Flash Drive, if this is left plugged an automatic daily back occurs at midnight. The Drive can also be used for cardholder import at setup and event log export Screen Display ipac includes a Title Bar, Menu Options and Soft Keys The title bar at the top of the screen displays the name of the current menu. 6 STANDALONE - QUICK USER GUIDE Adding New Cards A card or key fob is encoded with a unique number and the cardholder s access rights.for example, in addition to its unique number, a card allows the cardholder to be granted access to selected doors. To add a new cardholder: 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. At the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select each option (see table below and the instructions that follow) The Add New Card screen enables you to create new cardholders with the following information: Field Name Name 1 Name 2 Token Code PIN Access Rights Time Profile Allow Extra Door Time Description Cardholder s first name, in any combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers. Cardholder s last name, in any combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers. The unique number embedded in the card/fob by which the cardholder will be identified. Specifies the cardholder s optional Personal Identification Number (PIN). The PIN number has a maximum of four digits.the cardholder may use their PIN if particular readers at your site have been configured for Card and PIN, Card only or PIN only Every cardholder can be granted access to specific doors, select the checkbox next to the door. The access profile specifies the time schedule during which the cardholder can be granted access. For example, a cardholders access profile might allow the employee to enter the facility only 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cardholders can be provides an extra period of time the lock will unlock or the door can be held open by selecting this option. Deleting Cards To delete a card: 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name 4. At the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Delete 5. At the prompt Are you sure you want to delete?, press Soft Key OK 6. Press Left Action Button to return to Main Menu Note. Deleting cardholders is not recommended, as attempts to use lost cards will appear as Access Denied - Unknown Key, instead of a cardholder name. We recommend deselecting a cardholders Access Rights (uncheck doors) 7

7 STANDALONE - QUICK USER GUIDE Adding or Editing First and Last Name Use this function to add or edit a cardholder s first or last name, in any combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers/characters. 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name or at the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select First or Last Name 5. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 6. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to each letter of the name, pressing the button to select. (Use the Mode button to select Upper/Lower/Numeric character sets as required) 7. When complete, press Right Action Button Enrolling a Card or Key Fob Each Stanley Card/Key Fob contains a unique code (Token Code), that is read in the ipac by simply presenting it to the enrollment reader. 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name or at the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select Token Code 5. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 6. Present a Card or Key Fob to the Enrollment Reader, the code will appear in the text box 7. When complete, press Right Action Button Specifying a PIN The optional Personal Identification Number (PIN) has a maximum of four digits. To use a PIN, readers at your site have been configured for Card and PIN, Token or PIN, Card only or PIN only 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name or at the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select PIN 5. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 6. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to each number of the PIN, pressing the button to select. 7. When complete, press Right Action Button 8

8 STANDALONE - QUICK USER GUIDE Selecting Access Rights Every cardholder can be granted access to specific doors, simply check the box next to each doorto which access is to be granted. 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name or at the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select Access Rights 5. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 6. Using Push-button jog-wheel, select from the list check the doors you want the cardholder to access (Note. Deselect All and Select All Option) 7. When complete, press Right Action Button Selecting a Time Profile Specifies the time schedule during which the cardholder can be granted access. In this example, a cardholders can enter the facility only 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mon through Fri. 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name or at the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select Access Rights 5. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 6. Using Push-button jog-wheel, select from the list the Access Rights you want to grant to the cardholder 7. When complete, press Right Action Button Allow Extra Door Time Cardholder carrying heavy loads, or those with a disability, may require extra time to get through a door, without causing an alarm. (Only applies where a door is monitored for Door Left Open). 1. Navigate to and highlight the Keys option 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Using Push-button jog-wheel, navigate to an existing cardholder name or at the bottom of the screen, press Soft Key under Add 4. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate and select Allow extra door time 5. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 6. Using Push-button jog-wheel, select from the list yes or no 7. When complete, press Right Action Button 9

9 STANDALONE - QUICK USER GUIDE Alarm Viewer Alarms are events, or system transactions, that have been assigned alarm status. These often include events such as an invalid card read or a forced door. Alarms are viewed as system-generated messages that may indicate the need for user attention. 1. Navigate to and highlight the Alarms option (or at Main Menu, press Alarms Soft Key) 2. Press the Push-button jog-wheel 3. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate list as appropriate 4. Acknowledge individual alarms or all (Ack All) using Soft Keys 5. When complete, press Left Action Button to go back to Main Menu Note that acknowledging an alarm simply means that you acknowledge that the alarm exists; an acknowledgement does not mean action has been taken. Alarms that have been acknowledged and restored are cleared from the screen. If the cause is still present, the event will be flagged with a yellow warning triangle until resolved. Events The Events screen monitors controller events. For example, the reading of a card by a reader or an Operator login. You can view the last 500 events and export the event log database of the last 10,000 records. The Events screen dynamically refreshes when new events are generated, this can be switched on or off with the Auto Refresh Soft Key. 1. Navigate to and highlight the Alarms option and press the Push-button jog-wheel (or at Main Menu, press Events Soft Key) 2. Use the Push-button jog-wheel to navigate up and down the list (see Export below) 3. When complete, press Left Action Button to go back to Main Menu Export the Event Log as a.csv File (up to 10,000 records) 1. At Events Menu, press Export Soft Key) 2. Press Yes (to Delete Events in ipac after export) or No Soft Key 3. Remove ipac Backup Flash Drive and plug into PC 4. On Flash Drive, Open Directory ipac Exports 5. Select an ipac_events file, they will be appended with time and date of creation 10

10 WEB INTERFACE - QUICK USER GUIDE Web Browser Interface This section introduces the web browser interface that enables you to configure and manage your ipac Access Control System. Your ipac provides a built-in browser interface that enables you to configure and manage it remotely using a standard Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. Online Help is also provided. This procedure assumes that you are using a compatible web browser and that the ipac is configured with an IP address accessible from your PC or workstation. (see page 18, Installation Notes for the assigned IP Address) Log-In 1. In the web browser enter the ipac s IP address and press Enter. The Login screen appears. 2. Login Options: 2a. Enter the Username and Password provided to you by your Installer 2b. Present your card or key fob to the USB Enrollment Reader The Alarm screen of the ipac browser interface displays. Enrollment Reader 11

11 WEB INTERFACE - QUICK USER GUIDE Alarm Viewer Alarms are events, or system transactions, that have been assigned alarm status. These often include events such as an invalid card read or a forced door. Alarms are viewed as system-generated messages that may indicate the need for user attention. Alarm Status Description Color Outstanding Acknowledged Restored The initial status of an active alarm is Outstanding. When an alarm is in this state, the action must be taken. Example: A person tries to open a door forcefully. When an outstanding active alarm is acknowledged, the status changes to Acknowledged. When the access control activity becomes normal, the alarm in Alert state goes to Normal state. Example: When the forced open door is closed. Red Yellow Green Alarms Icon Acknowledge All Alarms Acknowledge Alarms Individually In the above example, a case tamper and door override alarm are indicated in red and flagged as Outstanding. 1. Alarms events will be highlighted in Red, and their Status will indicate Outstanding 2. To acknowledge the alarm, point and click on the Gold Alarm Bell Icon with Green Tick 3. The Gold Alarm Bell will no longer be display and the event will change color from to yellow Alarms that have been acknowledged and restored are cleared from the screen. Note. Acknowledging an alarm simply means that you acknowledge that the alarm exists; it does not mean action has been taken. 12

12 WEB INTERFACE - QUICK USER GUIDE Events The Events screen monitors controller events. For example, the reading of a card by a reader or an Operator login. Up to 500 events are displayed in time order with the most recent at the top. Some internal system event numbers will not be displayed. Up to 10,000 events are stored in the event log. To retrieve new events as they occur, select the Continue to retrieve newer events checkbox. This is the default, to pause the display, deselect the checkbox. Retrive Newer Event Event Log Export To export the event log to a.csv file, select the Event Log Export Icon. You have the option to delete the events after the download if desired. Click the Download File Button and save the file. The.CSV file can be opened in applications such as Microsoft Excel. 13

13 WEB INTERFACE - QUICK USER GUIDE Keys A card or key fob is encoded with a unique number and the cardholder s access rights. For example, in addition to its unique number, a card allows the cardholder to be granted access to certain doors during a certain time of day. To display the Keys screen, select the icon in the menu bar. Keys are displayed in alphabetical order by Last Name (Name 2); 10 keys to a page. The maximum number of keys is The key colour in the icon denotes the type of key: MASTER OPERATOR STANDARD CARDHOLDER Search Next Page New Cardholder Previous Page The Search Card(s) screen enables you to: Display cards by searching on any of the following keys: Cardholder s last name (Name 2) Card/Key Fob number 14

Present a card or key fob to the USB Enrollment Reader to enroll (Token Code) 4. If required, enter the PIN. (PIN) 5. If required, select a time profile. (Time Profile) 6. If required, select the allowed extra door time. (Allow Extra Door Time 7. Select the doors that the card/key fob can unlock. (Access Rights) 8. Select Save to confirm or Cancel to cancel any changes. To ensure you receive quick and easy access to the help you need, ipac Help provides you with context-sensitive, online help. The help is directly related to the task that you are performing in browser. 17

19 QUICK USER GUIDE Install USB Enrollment Reader To install the USB Enrollment Reader for use with the ipac web interface, before connecting the reader, first it is necessary to install the USB driver from the Installation CD, alternatively download the driver from Additional Configuration if using the ipac Web Interface: 1. Display the Internet Explorer window. 2. Choose Tools > Internet Options and the Internet Options window is displayed. 3. Choose the Security tab and select the Trusted Sites icon: 4. Choose the Sites button and the Trusted Sites window is displayed: 5. Ensure that the Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone checkbox is deselected. 6. Enter the web site address for the ipac web interface. 7. Choose the Add button and the site is added to the list of web sites. 8. Choose Close / OK to close the Trusted Sites dialog box. 20

Set the following items with their corresponding values as follows: ActiveX controls and plug-ins Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls to Enable (only required for Internet Explorer ver. 7) Binary and script behaviors to Enable Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Prompt Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting to Prompt Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins to Enable Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting to Enable Downloads File download to Enable Miscellaneous Allow META REFRESH to Enable Include Local directory path when uploading files to a server to Enable (only applicable to Internet Explorer ver. 7) Scripting Active scripting to Enable 11.
