1 Handy dandy Guide to the Village of Lombard Interactive Maps Hi Users! This is a brief guide to the GIS map application. These are made from the ESRI Flexviewer & we are continuing to research ways to enhance these maps more & more so check back often. GO TO AN ADDRESS (OR INTERSECTION) NAVIGATION TOOL Navigating the map There is a navigation tool to the left of the screen. The graphic below shows what icon does what The Globe on the top center will bring you to the original extent, which is Lombard. The halo around it moves the map up down & left right. The two right left arrows under it bring the map to the previous views you were looking at (left arrow) and brings you back to the most recent (right arrow) The Sider zooms the map in & out as you click & drag it up & down. The Hand icon pans the map around as you click, hold, & drag the map The two Magnifying glasses at the bottom, you draw a box on the map to specify where you want to zoom in to ( + icon) or zoom out from ( icon). Simply enter in an address in the Enter address box in the top right. Enter the address & city. It may auto complete the address for you, but enter the City, State, & ZIP as well. (**TIP** The Viewer will recognize as Lombard, IL so if you were to just enter 255 E Wilson it will bring you the results you want.) Search for an INTERSECTION like this >> (don t forget the city, state and/or ZIP) <<<<< The results will bring you to the street (Wilson Ave) where the House Number (255) is on the street range.

2 SEARCHING ATTRIBUTE DATA Notably: Parcel Identification Numbers (aka:pins) If you Click on the Binoculars Icon on the top of the map, it will bring up a pop up box which allows you to select map features by drawing a geometric figure. Within that box (circled in RED above) is a tool to allow you to search attribute data. If you click on that icon, it will open up a search box. The only search we have currently set up is to find a Parcel by 10 dgit PIN. (See below) After entering the 10 digit PIN, click search. A box will pop up with your result and an option to zoom to the parcel. (See Below)

3 DRAWING & MEASURING To draw on the map you can click the paint pallet icon at the top of the map. It will open this box >>>> Click on the shape you want to draw & options will appear. Choose colors, sizes, types, fills, transparencies, etc, BEFORE you draw. After you draw you can select your drawing features by clicking on them. After you select a drawing feature you can right click your mouse button & choose CLEAR to delete it. Using Draw to measure distance & area Click on the icon to draw a line. This time check the Show Measurements box on. When you do it will ask you for the distance unit. After choosing these options, your line will now include a linear distance. When choosing these options on a polygon or circle, it will give you area distance.

4 VIEWING MAP LAYERS Choose the legend icon a box will pop up showing what map layers are in the map & the how those layers are symbolized. Clicking on the MORE button at the right of the map, allows you to expand those layers, turn them off (by checking them off), move them to the top or bottom, & changing the transparency of them. The latter is important in viewing your BASEMAP underneath the operational layers. Speaking of which. CHANGING THE BASE LAYER (AERIAL PHOTOS) To the right of the MORE button is the Basemap button. The basemap you are using as a default is a Bing Street Map. If you wish to have a different map as your basemap, simply click on the Basemap button & choose one. If you cant see the basemap (such as the aerial photos) underneath your map layers, you may need to turn the layers off or change the transparency closer to 100%. Turn a layer off or change a Layer s Transparency

5 VIEWING DATA & SELECTING To view data from a feature, simply click on it. However! All feature data in the map is not enabled. For instance, the only layer you can view data from in the Zoning Map is the Parcel data So, when you click on a parcel, you will get all the parcel data, as shown on the right
