1 System Office IT Connecting to the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) There are four ways to connect to the system office Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Web client Windows client - personal computer Windows client - work computer Chromebook client Mac client Web Client Supported browsers: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, Mobile Safari, Firefox 1. Browse to 2. Click on the VMware Horizon View HTML Access icon: 3. Enter your StarID in the username field, and StarID password in the Password field. Click Login.

2 4. Click on the Virtual Desktop Pool icon: The virtual desktop will load in the browser window. Return to top Windows Client - Personal Device (That is, not a device provided by the office) 1. Browse to

3 2. Click on the Install VMware Horizon View Client icon. 3. Under the Product Downloads tab, selec the installation file for your operating system and click Go to Downloads, and then click Download. 4. Install and launch the client. 5. Enter the server name: secureapps.mnstate.us, username: StarID, and password StarID password. The virtual desktop will load in the VMware Horizon View Client. Return to top Windows Client - Work Computer VMware Horizon Client should already be installed on your work computer. To verify the application has been installed, go to Start > (A) and begin typing VMware in the search field (B). Open VMware Horizon Client from your desktop (C).

4 If you don t find VMware Horizon Client installed on your work computer, it may be installed from the Software Center administrative privileges not required. Browse to the Microsoft System Center - Configuration Manager in your All Programs Menu, and click Software Center: Click on VMware Horizon Client icon in Software Center and click Install. 1. Launch VMware Horizon Client from your Start Menu.

5 2. Enter the server name: secureapps.mnstate.us, username: StarID, and password StarID password. 3. Click on the Virtual Desktp Pool icon. The virtual desktop will load in the VMware Horizon View Client. Return to top Chromebook Client 1. Make sure you are connected to the internet on your Chromebook. 2. Click on the Chrome launcher located in the lower right corner of the screen. 3. In the search window that opens, click on the All Apps icon. 4. In the list of available applications, click on the Web Store icon.

6 5. In the search window, enter VMWare Horizon and type the Enter key to search. 6. Click the Add to Chrome button the application will download which may take several minutes. 7. A new window will appear; click the Add App button to add the app to your device. The VMWare Horizon client will now appear in the All Apps menu.

7 8. To complete the setup, click on the VMWare Horizon icon to launch the application. A new window will open asking you to Select a folder to open. 9. Browse to and select any folder in your Google Drive and click the Open button. If you don't have any folders in your Google Drive, create an empty folder (which can be named anything), selec the new folder, and then click the Open button. 10. Exi the VMWare Horizon application. 11. Open the VMWare Horizon application, enter the server address: secureapps.mnstate.us, and click the Connect button. 12. A login screen will open. Enter your StarID in the User Name field and StarID password in the Password field, and click the Connect button.

8 13. Double-click on the Virtual Desktop icon to launch the virtual desktop. The Virtual Desktop will load and appear in a few seconds. Return to top

9 Mac Client 1. Download VMware Horizon Client for Mac: < productid=578&rpid=11463 > 2. When the download is complete, double-click the title in the Downloads list. 3. Click Agree to the license agreement. 4. Double-click on thevmware app.

10 5. Click Open when prompted. 6. In the security window that opens, type your Mac admin rights, OR - If you are using your personal Mac, type your own credentials. If this is a system office Mac, please contact Desktop Support for assistance.
