1 MACBOOK AIR USER GUIDE MACBOOK AIR IN THE CLASSROOM
2 1 DEVICE CARE MacBook Air in the Classroom 1
3 Device Care: 1. Do not attempt to repair your device. If your device fails to work or is damaged, report the problem through the work order system as soon as possible, so that a certified technician can repair the issue. 2. Never leave a device unattended. When not in your personal possession, the device should be in a secure, locked environment. Never expose a device to long-term extremes in temperature or direct sunlight. An automobile is not a good place to store any technology. 3. Technology does not respond well to liquids. Avoid applying liquids to the device. The device can be cleaned with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do NOT use window or household cleaners. Use of unapproved cleaners may remove the protective film covering the screen or face of the device. 4. Avoid placing weight on the device and never throw or slide devices. Also, do not place pens or pencils on the keyboard, as this is a common cause for cracked screens. 5. Your device comes with ports for charging and other accessories. Care must be exercised when plugging and unplugging accessories. 6. Do not lend your device to another person. Each device is assigned to an individual and the responsibility of the care of the device rests solely with that individual. Each device has a unique identification number and at no time should the barcode or fixed asset tag be modified or removed. 7. Your device has a battery life of 12 hours when fully charged. Therefore, you do not need to have your device constantly plugged up and charging. Only charge when needed. 8. A case will be provided for your device to protect your MacBook from dents and scratches. The district-owned device must remain free of stickers, writing, painting, or any other forms of adornment. You may purchase and decorate your own case. 2
4 Damaged, Lost, or Stolen Devices: 1. In the event that a district-issued device is lost or stolen, the employee should immediately notify the school administrator. 2.In the event that a police report is filed for a lost or stolen device, Duplin County Schools may aid the police in recovering the device. All devices are tagged with an asset label. The label is not to be tampered with or removed. 3.Employees who leave Duplin County Schools during the school year must return the device, along with any issued accessories, at the time they leave the district. The device and all accessories should be returned to the school s media coordinator. 3
