1 Click the down arrow to find your picture(s). 2. To change the view of the pictures, click the Thumbnail View button. 3. If you are only resizing ONE picture: Click on the picture that you want inside the large white box on the right hand side and click the ADD button If you are resizing MORE THAN ONE picture that is listed in order in the box: Click on the first picture in the large white box on the right hand side, hold in SHIFT, and click on the last picture in the list. Click the Add button. If you are resizing MORE THAN ONE picture that is NOT listed in order in the box: Click on the first picture in the large white box on the right hand side, hold in the CTRL button, and click on the other pictures you want in the list. Click the ADD button.

2 If you are resizing ALL of the pictures that are listed in the box on the left hand side: Just click the ADD ALL button. 4. If you accidentally add a picture that you do not want, click on the picture in the large white box on the LEFT hand side to highlight it and click the REMOVE Button. If you want to remove ALL of the pictures listed in the large white box on the LEFT hand side, press the CLEAR button. 5. The OUTPUT FORMAT should be set to JPEG Images (*.jpg) smaller files 6. Press the SELECT button and choose where you would like to save the resized pictures. A box will appear like the one on the right. Click on the folder you want the pictures to go in. If you need to create a NEW folder, click the CREATE button at the bottom and a new folder will appear in the list in the white box. The words New Folder will be highlighted. Erase them and give the folder a new name. 7. Put a checkmark in the box that says Use Advanced Options (i.e. Resize ) A button will appear that says Advanced Options. Click this button and a box will appear that looks like this. Put a checkmark in the box that says Use Resize / Resample and more options will appear. Click the down arrow on the box that says Pick a Standard Size. Choose 640 x 480. Press OK at the bottom of the box. **There are more tabs with many more options at the top of this box, but we can do all of these things in the Faststone Image Viewer where you can work on the pictures one at a time Moon Page 2

3 8. If you would like to rename the pictures, make sure there is a checkmark beside the RENAME button. Erase the word Images. *If you have 1-9 pictures, leave one # at the end. *If you have pictures, leave two #s at the end and so on. *If you would like the numbering to begin with a different number than 1, press the up arrow until the number you want to begin with is in the box. (**This could effect how many #s you leave at the end of the titles.) 9. Press the START button at the bottom of the box to begin resizing. When it is finished, press the DONE button at the bottom of the box that appears. 10. Press the CLEAR button to remove the pictures from the box on the left and start the process over again. **If you would like to erase the original pictures from your folder, double-click MY COMPUTER and find the pictures. If you are deleting a group of pictures that are all together, click on the first picture you want to delete, hold in the SHIFT button and click on the last picture that you want to delete to highlight the group. Press the button on the left hand side that says Delete the Selected Items. If you are deleting a group of pictures that are NOT all together, click on the first picture you want to delete, hold in the CTRL button and click on the other picture(s) that you want to delete to highlight them. Press the button on the left hand side that says Delete the Selected Items. When prompted with the message, Are you sure you want to delete these items?, press Yes. Moon Page 3

4 Find your pictures here. When you click on the folder, the pictures will be displayed on the righthand side of this box. When you double-click on a picture, this box will appear. Press OK. Your picture will be full screen. Moon Page 4

5 When you touch the top, bottom, or left-hand side, you will see a magnifying glass and then these toolbars will appear. TOP: History list Rotate Pictures Print Close Full Screen All pictures in this folder will be displayed here. BOTTOM: Moving to next Picture Zoom Resize Crop Draw Board Red Eye Removal Print Close Full Screen Red Eye Removal: You can zoom in on an area by changing the zoom ratio. Use the left and right arrows or the up and down arrows to see different parts of the picture. Click and drag on the left hand side picture to draw an oval / circle. You can move the oval / circle by touching it and getting a four-headed arrow and dragging the oval / circle. Either double-click inside the oval / circle to remove the Red Eye or click the Remove Red Eye button If you make a mistake, press the Undo button. Moon Page 5

6 Crop: When you click the crop button, it will open a new screen. Below the picture are the cropping tools. You can either choose a size by pixels or by paper ratio FREE HAND allows you to make the picture any size you want. You must click and drag to draw the box with this option. Once you make your choice, you will see a box with dotted lines. You can click on a handle and get a double-headed arrow to change the size. Unless you choose Free Hand, the picture will change the size in prospective. You can click on the picture (inside the box) and get a 4-headed arrow to move the box around. Display Rule of Thirds shows gridlines on the cropped picture. The Outer Darkness tool blackens out the part of the picture that will be cropped away. Lossless Crop to File lets you save the cropped picture as a new name so that you can still access the original. Crop to Clipboard puts the cropped picture on the clipboard so that you can paste it later. Crop actually crops the picture Moon Page 6

7 Drawing Board: This tool allows you to add text, lines, rectangles, circles, highlighted areas, and watermarks to the images. When you click on this tool, a new window appears with the tools on the left side. Allows you to select objects. Adds text to the image. Click and drag to draw a rectangle and type your text inside. Draws arrows. Click and drag to draw. Allows you to draw whatever shape you want. Click and drag to draw. Draws rectangles that are empty on the inside. Click and drag to draw. Draws rectangles that are colored on the inside. Click and drag to draw. Draws circles / ovals that are empty on the inside. Click and drag to draw. Draws circles / ovals that are colored on the inside. Click and drag to draw. Free Hand Highlighter. Allows you to highlight using any shape you want. Rectangular highlighter Adds a saved watermark to the pictures. Erases any object on the picture. Click on the object to get handles around it and then click this button. Actual Size Fit With almost all of the tools, there are color, size, and opacity options at the bottom of the screen. Moon Page 7

8 LEFT-HAND SIDE: Many of the same tools are found here as are in the top and bottom toolbars. Save As - allows you to save the changes you have made to the picture, but still keep the original (*you must give the picture with changes a new name.) Copy Image allows you to copy the image so you can paste it. Slideshow allows you to watch all of the pictures in the open folder as a slide show. When you click this button, it brings up a new window with many slideshow options. Adjustments Section allows you to adjust the coloring of the picture, to lighten / darken the picture, and sharpen or blur the picture. When you click these buttons, it brings up new windows with many options. Effects Section adds special effects to the picture. Frame Mask puts a picture frame around the picture Undo & Redo fixes any mistakes that you make. Congratulations!
