1 Pointer Tool Text Tool Table Tool Word Art Tool Picture Tool Clipart Tool Creating a Text Frame Select the Text Tool with the Pointer Tool. Position the mouse pointer where you want one corner of the text frame to appear, click and hold down the button, and then drag the mouse diagonally. Release the mouse button when the text frame is the size and shape that you want. Create a Table and Type Text Select the Table Frame Tool with the Pointer Tool. Position the pointer where you want a corner of the table to appear, and then drag the mouse diagonally. In the Create Table dialog box, choose the options you want. As you click different table formats, the Sample box displays them. Click OK. In the table, click where you want to add text, and then start typing. 2 Adding WordArt Pointer Tool Text Tool Table Tool Word Art Tool Picture Tool Clipart Tool Select the WordArt Tool. Position the mouse pointer where you want the WordArt to appear, and then drag the mouse diagonally until the WordArt frame is the size you want. In the text entry box, type your text. To begin a new line of text, press ENTER. Using the toolbar, choose the effects you want for the text. Publisher updates the text in the WordArt frame whenever you click the Update Display button or finish applying one effect and begin working on another. When you are finished, click outside the WordArt frame to exit. Create a Picture Frame Select the Picture Tool with the Pointer Tool. Position the mouse pointer and click where you want one corner of the frame to appear, hold down the mouse button while you drag the mouse diagonally until the frame is the size you want, and release the mouse button. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File. Click the name of the picture file you want to add. If you don't see the file you want, switch to the drive or folder it's in. 3 Create a Clip Gallery Frame to Add Clipart Pointer Tool Text Tool Table Tool Word Art Tool Picture Tool Clipart Tool Select the Clip Gallery Tool. Position the mouse pointer and click where you want one corner of the clip art to appear, hold down the mouse button while you drag the mouse diagonally until the frame is the size you want, and then release the mouse button. The Clipart Gallery will open. Click the tab for the type of clip you want. Click the category you want. Scroll through the category, click the clip you want, and then click Insert clip. The clip is inserted in your publication. If the Clip Gallery is covering your publication, click outside the Clip Gallery window. To make an arrow, on the Formatting toolbar, click the arrow direction you want. 5 Draw a Rectangle or Oval Select the or. Position the mouse pointer where you want one edge of the shape, and then drag the mouse diagonally. Draw a Circle, Square, or Horizontal or Vertical Line Select the,, or. To draw the object, hold down SHIFT as you drag the mouse. Release the mouse button before you release SHIFT. To Center an Object at a Specific Location Select the tool for the object you want to create. Place the mouse pointer where you want the center of the object to be. Hold down CTRL as you drag the mouse. If you also want the object to be a perfect square or circle, or a line that s perfectly vertical, horizontal, or at a 45-degree angle, hold down SHIFT and CTRL. 6 Draw custom shapes Select a shape from the Custom Shapes tool menu. Click the custom shape you want to draw. Position the mouse pointer where you want the initial point of the shape to be, click and hold down the mouse button, and drag the mouse diagonally. Release the mouse button when the custom shape has the size and shape you want. Fill a Frame or Shape with a Pattern or Color Click the frame or shape. On the Formatting toolbar, click Fill Color. Choose the color you want, OR select More Colors or Fill Effects.
