1 Uploading Files to WorldClass The move from web-classrooms to WorldClass, and eventually the migration to the new Learning Management System requires a slightly different approach to adding and managing content files. The following steps describe how to upload files to WorldClass. This first part deals with the back-end, or storage area of WorldClass. Only Faculty access this, and all files used in the course get placed here. 1. The _assoc folder is where all course content not streamed from the web is stored. Click on Manage. 2. Click on Course Files Manager Link. 3. No files or folders other than _assoc should reside in this location; if others do they should be moved in the appropriate course folder within the _assoc folder. Click on the _assoc link.

2 4. The only content directly inside the _assoc folder is the course folder titled with the course number and department. Click on the Course Folder. 5. In some cases a second course folder may be inside the first, notice one is already in the breadcrumbs. Click the Course Folder again. 6. Content must be put in specific folders, this keeps content organized, and easier to locate for linking.

Folders need to be opened before content can be added to them. Click on the folder you want to add content too. 8. Click on Add Content.

4 9. Click on Upload Files. 10. Click Browse to locate the file you want to upload. 11. A Choose window opens, Locate the file you want to upload and click on it to select it, then click Open.

5 12. The link to the document appears in the Browse field. Click on Upload File. 13. When the success message appears you file has been placed into the designated folder. You can upload another file, or click on Done. 14. If you have multiple files of the same type to upload, zip them into a folder first. Then use the upload file option to browse for the folder. Once the zipped folder has been uploaded you are presented with this option. Click on Extract Its Contents.

6 15. Make sure delete file after unzipping is checked, you do not need the zipped folder anymore. Click on Ok For all content types, the files will be placed into the designated folder, if they have the same name as an existing file(s) the older file will be replaced by the new files automatically.

7 Linking Content for Students As mentioned at the beginning of this document, activity in assoc folder is for faculty. Students cannot see or access this material. Your next task is to link the material to the Content page for the students. 1. Click on the Content tab along the top of the window. To add content to this page you will use the Add Content link. At this location the Add Content link allows you to create folders such as demonstrated here. The format shown here divides the content into weeks, but that is not a requirement. 2. To make new folders click Add Content.

8 3. The Add Content menu allows you to chose from a variety of content you may be interested in using in your course, but this document will only demonstrate the use of the folders and links. Click on Folder. 4. A folder will be used to contain other folders and links. In this window give the folder a title and if desired a subtitle. Then click Save.

9 5. Once you click Save, the folder opens. You can see the folder Icon and the name of the folder in the upper Left corner. There is currently no content in this folder so click Add Content. 6. You could add a new folder in the folder, but we are going to put a link in the course, so you would click on Link.

10 7. The basics of a link involve giving it a title, and linking to content back in the assoc folder. You would add a title, and then browse to create a link.

11 8. The Browse button opens the Content Links window which you will use to navigate back to the content in the assoc folder. Click Course. 9. Next, the _assoc folder appears in the window. Click _assoc.

12 10. Next the course folder will appear beneath a blank folder, click on it. If there are two course folders back in your assoc, you will need to click two course folders to continue. 11. Next the content folders inside of the course folder will appear. Click the content folder that holds the content you want.

13 12. Now all of the files inside this folder will become visible. Scroll through them until you find the one that you want and click on it. The Content Links window will close and the link is complete. 13. Once the Content window closes, the Browse field will populate with the link to the content you selected. Click Save and the link will be created.

14 14. You now have a Link to the content in the assoc folder. Test it to make sure it works properly, and you then you can continue on with other links and folders.
