Impossible Solutions, Inc. JDF Ticket Creator & DP2 to Indigo scripts Reference Manual Rev Overview: This reference manual will cover two separate applications that work together to produce a more efficient workflow for sending rendered PDF output from the Kodak DP2 software to the HP Indigo Press. 1. The first part is a stand alone application that will be known as the JDF Ticket Creator ( JDFTC ), and will be used to generate individual JDF Ticket templates for each Product in DP2 that will rendered as a PDF and destined for printing on the Indigo Press. It will run on a single workstation anywhere on the network that can write files to a directory that can be shared and accessed by any DP2 workstation. 2. The second part will be custom DP2 scripting that will be installed into the DP2 application work space that will add custom fields to DP2 tables, add custom System Settings, and add an Order Complete script that will execute when DP2 Order Items are submitted to a Queue that is calling the Order Complete script. The Order Complete script will load the default JDF Ticket info and modify it with the variable information, then send it to the Indigo DFE ( Digital Front End ) for printing. The DP2 scripts will be installed on the DP2 Server and will add functionality to all DP2 client workstations on the same network. Installing the JDF Ticket Creator : There is only one file involved with installing the JDF Ticket Creator. The installer file is named JDFTC_1.x.x.EXE. Simply double click on this executable and the application files will be installed on your computer and a new program group will be added to your Start / Programs menu. Once the installation is complete, you should see the new program group in the Start / Programs menu, ISI JDF Ticket Creator. To start the application, click on the JDFTC_v1.x.x. icon under the ISI JDF Ticket Creator group as shown above. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Registering the JDFTC application and Database engine: Registering the JDFTC application involves two steps. 1. You must first register the 4D Runtime Single User with 4D Inc. You may be wondering, what is 4D Runtime? It is the database engine that the JDFTC is built upon. A single workstation license is included in the purchase price of the JDFTC and you will use the License key supplied with the software to register your license with 4D Inc. The application will run in evaluation mode for 30 minutes at a time until you register it, but it will display the evaluation dialogs every time you launch the application until you register it. Note: It is important that you think about what workstation you wish to use for the JDFTC application so that you don t have to change the registration. 2. Next you must register the JDFTC Application within 30 days of first launching the software. Each license is registered based on your company name and an unlock key supplied to you with the install files. Please make sure to enter the User Name and Unlock Code exactly as shown in the install information. If you choose not to register immediately, you will be presented with the demo dialog each time you launch the application until the 30 days runs out or until you enter your User Name and Unlock Code. If you know which workstation you wish to register 4D Runtime for, skip the Evaluation Mode of 4D Runtime section and go directly to the Activating 4D Runtime section. Evaluation Mode of 4D Runtime: When you launch the application by selecting JDFTC_1.x.x in the Start Menu or by double clicking the shortcut, the following Welcome to 4 th Dimension dialog will open: ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

The Window / Close All Windows menu item will close all windows that are open in the application window. Navigation Palette: Some of the tables that are included in this application will be accessed directly from the floating Navigation Palette. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Navigation Palette Currently there are only two tables accessible via the Navigation Palette. Click on the Table name in the Navigation Palette and the list view (Output Form) for that table will be opened. Output Forms ( List view ): Each table has an Output form ( List View ) for displaying multiple records in that table. Tools are included in the header of each Output form for Adding, Deleting, Finding, Sorting, and Printing the selected records in that table. Example of an Output Form / List View To Modify an existing record the user will simply double click on a record in the List view and the Input form will be opened. To Add a new record, the user will click the New button in the header of the Output form or select the Enter / New Record menu item from the menu bar at the top of the application window. To Delete a record or selection of records, the user will select the record and then click the Delete button at the top of the Output form. Clicking on the Show All button will display all records in that table. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

The Find button is used to query for a certain selection of records or single record. When the user clicks the Find button, the following dialog will open. Fast Find Dialog for doing quick search on one field in the table The Fast Find dialog is used when querying on one field is sufficient. The user selects the field name to search on in the first drop down list on the left, then selects the search criteria in the middle drop down, and then enters the data to look for in that field. There are also radio buttons that allow the user to further specialize the search, with the default being to Search All Records. If the Fast Find is not powerful enough for what the use needs, then they have the option of clicking on the Query Editor button in the bottom left corner of the dialog. This will open a powerful query editor in which complex searches can be built, saved, and reloaded to use over and over again. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Query Editor Dialog for doing complex searches The application is built with a multi-process architecture so that multiple windows can be open at the same time with multiple processes communicating with each other so that if data is modified in the Input form for a table and the Output form for that same table is open, it will automatically be updated when the user saves the record in the Input form. The positioning of the windows within the application window will be remembered so that the user can size and position windows to their liking and they will open in the same location the next time the window is opened in the same session. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Input Forms Each table will have an Input form ( Detail View ) for displaying a single record for that table so that a new record can be created, or so that existing records can be viewed or modified. Example of an Input Form Input forms will contain various types of fields and form objects depending on what is required for that specific table in the database. However, all input forms will contain four navigation buttons in the bottom left corner of the form as well as a Cancel and Save button in the bottom right corner of the form. Navigation Buttons Cancel and Save Buttons Included Forms If a table has relational links to child tables ( One to Many relationships ) then an Included form ( Subform View ) will be included on the parent table s Input form for displaying a list view of the related child records. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Example of an Input Form with an Included form If there are multiple child tables for a parent table, then multiple Included forms may be viewed on the parent table Input form by using Tabs, with each Tab representing a different child table. To add, modify, or delete records for the Included form table, there will be Add, Change, and Delete buttons to the right of the Included form. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Setting up Preferences: Before you go any further, you need to setup a few preferences. 1. Click on the Edit menu item and select Preferences. The Preferences window will open: By default, the Display Navigation Palette at Startup checkbox is checked. This causes the Navigation palette to be opened automatically each time you launch the JDFTC application. If you do not wish for it to open automatically, you can uncheck it. Note: If you uncheck this preference, you will still have access to the tables in the database from the File / Open Table menu item or you can reopen the palette by selecting the Tools / Navigation Palette menu item. Next, you will need to set a preference for the JDF Tickets Directory. The JDF Tickets Directory is the directory that you wish to store all of the JDF Ticket templates that you will create using the JDFTC application and will be accessed by the custom DP2 scripts associated with this application workflow. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Note: It must be a directory that is shared and accessible by all DP2 workstations that will be sending print work to the Indigo press. Click the explore button to the right of the JDF Tickets Directory field. The Browse For Folder window will open: It is strongly suggested that you explore the Entire Network when loading this directory path so that a complete UNC path will be stored in this preference. Select the directory that you wish to use, or click the Make New Folder button to create a new directory, and then click the OK button. This will load the complete path to the directory into the JDF Tickets Directory field. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Close the Preferences window by clicking the Close Box in the top right corner. This will save your changes to the preferences. Setting Up user defined Lists: There are several lists that are used in the JDFTC application to populate pop-up lists in the various input forms which must be populated with information that is stored in the Indigo DFE. To access and modify these lists you will use the List Editor. Select the File / Administration menu item. The Administration dialog will open. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Select List Editor and click the OK button to open the List Editor window. The Lists that are editable by the user are displayed on the left and the List Items within each list are displayed on the right. The Add and Delete buttons are used to modify the existing list items within the selected list. Note: Do not use the Sort button as there are certain list items that should be at the top of the list, and by sorting the list the item would no longer be the first choice. For testing purposes the developer has pre-populated each of the lists with a few list items. However, you should replace these list items with valid entries that exist on the DFE. Adding a List Item Select the List on the left side of the window that you wish to modify. Click the Add button. This will insert a new list item at the top of the list labeled Untitled Item. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Hold down the Alt key, place the cursor in the Untitled Item entry and click and the name will become editable. You can now type in the new list item name. Once you have completed the new list item entry, you can click and drag the new item to the desired location in the list. Deleting a List Item Select the List on the left side of the window that you wish to modify. Select the List Item on the right side of the window that you wish to Delete. Click the Delete button and the list item will be removed. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Note: It is Very Important to modify all of the lists so that only valid entries remain that exist on the Indigo DFE in order to prevent errors when work is submitted from DP2 to the DFE. Creating Substrate records: In order to allow the user total flexibility for defining Substrates in the database that can be used to select from when creating JDF Ticket records, a Substrates table has been added that you will need to create a valid record for each Substrate you intend to use. A few dummy records are included in the application for demo purposes, but you can delete these and add your own valid records. Creating a New Substrate record: Click the Substrates button on the Navigation Palette to open the Substrates list view. The Substrates list view will open. Click the New button in the top left corner of the Substrates list view window to open the Substrate Input form. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Substrates input form Substrate Name and Stock Type may be exactly the same or may be different depending on the version of the Press software that you are running. Older versions only support StockType, whereas newer versions support both Substrate Name and Stock Type. JDFTC will include both when creating the JDF Ticket. Please check with your HP representative if you are unsure about what is supported on your press. Substrate Name is a descriptive media name that allows special characters such as spaces in the substrate name and it must match a substrate already defined on the DFE. Stock Type is a media name that must meet NMToken standards ( Letters, Numbers, -,., and :, but NO SPACES ) and it must match a substrate already defined on the DFE. Dimensions Width is a numeric field in which you specify the Width of the media in millimeters. The Minimum accepted value is 279 and the Maximum is 331 for width. Dimensions Length is a numeric field in which you specify the Length of the media in millimeters. The Minimum accepted value is 210 and the Maximum is 483 for length. Both Width and Length fields can be entered directly. You may also use the Up Arrow button next to the field to increment the value by one for each click of the button. Use the Down Arrow button next to the field to decrement the value by one for each click of the button. Click the Save button to save your changes. Deleting existing Substrate records: To Delete an existing Substrate record, highlight the record in the list view by single clicking on the record. You can select multiple contiguous records by using Shift + click. Select multiple non-contiguous records by using Ctrl + Click. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Next, click on the Delete button in the top bar of the list view window to delete the selected records. The confirm dialog shown below will appear. Click the OK button to confirm and complete the delete process. Click the Cancel button to abort the delete process. Once you have completed creating a few valid Substrate records, you are now ready to begin working with the JDFTC application to create JDF Tickets. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Working with the JDF Ticket Creator: The purpose of the JDF Ticket Creator is to create a JDF Ticket template with all the default settings that are to be used for a specific DP2 Product or DP2 Printer Queue and store that JDF Ticket in a directory that will be accessed by the custom DP2 scripts that are the second part of this DP2 to Indigo workflow. Once a JDF Ticket has been generated and stored in the JDF Tickets Directory, the Display Name will be entered in the Template Name field of the Book Product Data for NexPress record in the DP2 database that contains the Product ID of the Book Product that the JDF Ticket is to be associated with. That s correct, we are using the Book Product NexPress table to link a Book Product to an Indigo JDF Ticket and it works just fine. We had to do this because it is currently the only we can store the Template Name at the Product level in DP2 so that when an Order Item is created manually from that Book Product, the Template Name will be carried forward to the order item Book Attributes Template Name field. This will be explained in more detail in the DP2 to Indigo Script section of the reference manual. The JDFTC allows you to create a new ticket in one of two ways. 1. Create a new record in the JDF Tickets table and enter the settings for that ticket. 2. Duplicate an existing JDF Ticket record using the Special Functions menu item, change the Display Name and any of the settings that you wish to change. This second option would be used when most of the settings for the new Ticket are the same as an existing Ticket in the database. Creating a New JDF Ticket: Click the JDF Tickets button on the Navigation Palette to open the JDF Tickets list view. The JDF Tickets list view will open. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Click the New button in the top left corner of the JDF Tickets list view window to open the JDF Tickets Input form. JDF Tickets input form The JDF Tickets input form contains several tabs, each of which contain fields and settings specific to that tab name. Click on a different tab to display that tab page of settings. The fields at the top of the window, above the tabbed area, are displayed and modifiable on all tab views of this form. When you have completed all the entries and settings for a specific JDF Ticket, click the Save button to save your settings in the database. Click the Generate JDF Ticket button to save your settings in the database and generate a JDF Ticket that is saved in the JDF Tickets Directory that you stored the location of in Preferences. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Note: The application automatically saves any changes you have made to a record when you click the Generate JDF Ticket button so that the changes are applied to the resulting JDF Ticket without being lost. There are three fields across the top of the input form that are not modifiable and get populated automatically by the application. Created Date is the date that the record is first created. Modified Date is the date that the record was last modified. ID is the unique Key ID field that uniquely identifies the record in the database and is only displayed for developer use. General Settings: The enterable fields in the top portion of the input form are General settings that apply to the JDF Ticket. General settings fields on JDF Tickets input form Display Name is a unique name that you will use to identify the JDF Ticket and it will also be the filename that the JDF Ticket is saved as when you click the Generate JDF Ticket button. The Display Name can be anything you like, but you may want to use a naming convention that relates to the DP2 Product or Queue that it will be associated with to keep things user friendly. Note: Display Name is a required field and it must be a unique name. Input File should be left blank when used in conjunction with the DP2 to Indigo script since the DP2 script will replace the Input File entry with the path to the PDF file rendered by the DP2 printer. Input Method is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a user definable list of Input Methods that have been pre-defined and stored in the Indigo DFE. The Input Method must exist on the DFE or an error will occur when the JDF Ticket is sent to the printer. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Click on the Input Method pop-up list to display the list and select a list item. Comment is a field used to enter a descriptive comment about the JDF Ticket being created. Copies is used to enter the number of copies of the rendered PDF to print. The default value is 1 and there is no need to change this setting since the DP2 script will replace this value with the Book Group Quantity from the Order Item record that generates the PDF. Job Priority field is a pop-up list that allows you to set the Job Priority on the DFE. The default value is Medium. Number of Pages is where you will indicate the total number of pages that make up the Book Product in DP2 that you will link to this JDF Ticket. The default value is 1 but you only need to enter the number of pages if you use a negative number in the Substrate Sheet Range field. Substrate Tab Settings: The Substrate tab of the JDF Tickets input form provides the ability to specify multiple Substrates for different page ranges within the book product. Use Default Substrate is checked by default. You must uncheck this field in order to activate the Substrate Add Item button, which will allow you to add specific substrates for specific page ranges of the document. To Add a new Substrate record, click on the Add Item button on the right side of the Substrate tab. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

This will open the JDF Substrates input form. Substrate Name is the first field you will populate by clicking on the Lookup Item button to the right of the field. This will open the Select a Substrate dialog which displays all records in the Substrates table and allows you to select a substrate. Click on the Substrate selection to highlight it and then click the OK button. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

This will populate the Substrate Name, Stock Type, Width, and Length fields with the data from your Substrate record selection. The Dimensions (mm) Width and Length fields are enterable and you can also adjust the numbers up or down using the up and down arrows to the right of each field. Sheet Range specifies the page range that this Substrate is to be used for. Sheet Range values are zero indexed for the Indigo meaning that numbering starts at zero instead of one. The formatting of the Sheet Range entry must follow one of two options. 1. Page X and Page Y Ex: 0-1 represents First page and Last Page Ex: represents Page 2, Page 4, and Page 7 2. Page X through Page Y Ex: 1 ~ -2 represents Second page through Next to Last page Ex: 0 ~ 100 Use this to indicate all pages in the book as long as 100 is more than the pages in the book. Note: It is important that no Commas are entered to separate page values, only spaces and / or tildes. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

The tilde ( ~ ) character is used to represent a range of pages. The space character is used to separate specific pages. In our example shown below we are specifying two substrates, 150lb cover and Content for this JDF Ticket. We specified the 150lb cover for the fist and last pages only of a book, so we entered in the Sheet Range field: 0 + Space + -1 or 0-1. We specified the Content for the second page through the next to last page of the book, so we entered in the Sheet Range field: 1 + Space + ~ + Space + -2 or 1 ~ -2. To Modify and existing JDF Substrate record you highlight the record in the included form, which will activate the Modify button. Then, click the Modify button to open and modify the record. Make sure to click the Save button once you are satisfied with your changes. To Delete and existing JDF Substrate record you highlight the record in the included form, which will activate the Delete button. Then, click the Delete button to delete the record. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Layout Tab Settings: The Layout tab of the JDF Tickets input form provides the ability to specify many characteristics related to the layout on the press such as Imposition, Scaling, Duplexing, Resolution, Line thinning, and Negative. Layout tab of the JDF Tickets input form Imposition Template is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a user definable list of Imposition Template names. The Imposition Template must exist on the DFE or an error will occur when the JDF Ticket is sent to the printer. The default value is None. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) Click on the Imposition Template pop-up list to display the list and select a list item. Fit to Page is a checkbox field that allows the user to specify whether to scale to fit the page or not. The default is unchecked. Negative is a checkbox field which indicates to print as a negative. The default is unchecked. Resolution is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from different output resolutions, with the default being 800 dpi. Duplexing is a checkbox field that allows the user to specify whether or not to turn on Duplexing. When Duplexing is checked, the Tumble checkbox becomes active and enterable. The default is unchecked. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Tumble is a checkbox field that specifies Tumble when checked and Turn when unchecked for Duplexing. The default is unchecked. Colate is a checkbox field which indicates to turn on collating. Destination tab of the JDF Tickets input form The Send Job to group box contains two radio buttons: Post-RIP Storage and Device. Post-RIP Storage is the default and indicates that the print job is going to be ripped and sent to a Post RIP Storage location. If the Device radio button is selected, this indicates a specific print device, and the Device pop-up list allows you to select a specific press name. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Output Destination is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a list of Output Destinations. The default value is Use Press Defaults. Separations Tab Settings: The Separations tab of the JDF Tickets input form provides the ability to specify attributes related to RIP Overprint, Screen Frequency, Separation Mode, and Spot Colors. Separations tab of the JDF Tickets input form Overprint Black is a checkbox field which indicates to turn on RIP Overprinting of Black text. The default is unchecked. Screen Frequency is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a list of Screening Frequencies. The default value is Use press default. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Click on the Screen Frequency pop-up list to display the list and select a list item. Separation Mode is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a list of three Separation Modes ( CMYK, Grayscale, & IndiChrome ). The default value is CMYK. Note: If Grayscale is selected, you will not be able to add any custom Spot Colors. Click on the Separation Mode pop-up list to display the list and select a list item. Custom Spot Colors can be added to the JDF Ticket if the separation mode is set to CMYK or IndiChrome, but not Grayscale. Note: The Spot Color must be defined on the press or an error will occur when the JDF Ticket is sent to the DFE. Adding Spot Colors: 1. Enter the custom color name in the Spot Color Name field as shown below. 2. Click the Add -> button to add the Spot Color Name into the list on the right. This will clear the Spot Color Name field on the left as shown below. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

3. Repeat the same process if you wish to add additional Spot Color Names. Deleting Spot Colors: In case you make a mistake or just need to delete a Spot Color that you have entered, highlight the Spot Color Name in the list on the right, then click the Delete button. This will remove the Spot Color entry for this JDF Ticket. Color Management Tab Settings: The Color Management tab of the JDF Tickets input form provides the ability to specify Input and Output profiles. Color Management tab of the JDF Tickets input form CMYK Input Profile is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a user modifiable list of CMYK Input Profile names. The default value is None. The list name is CMYK Input Profile and can be modified using the List Editor. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Click on the CMYK Input profile pop-up list to display the list and select a list item. RGB Input Profile is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a user modifiable list of RGB Input Profile names. The default value is None. The list name is RGB Input Profile and can be modified using the List Editor. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) Gray Input Profile is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a user modifiable list of Gray Input Profile names. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) Press Output Profile is a pop-up list field that allows the user to select from a user modifiable list of Press Output Profile names. The default value is None. The list name is Press Output Profile and can be modified using the List Editor. ( See the List Editor section for details on modifying the items in this list ) Customer Info Tab Settings: The Customer Info tab of the JDF Tickets input form provides the ability to specify attributes regarding Customer information related to the press job. Customer Info tab of the JDF Tickets input form Company ID is a required field if you wish to enter Customer info data. All of the other customer info fields are disabled until a value is entered in the Company ID field. It can be any alpha numeric string that you wish to use. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Once a non-null string is entered in the Company ID, all of the other customer info fields will become enterable. Saving the JDF Ticket record: Once you have entered all of the attributes for the JDF Ticket, you have the option to simply Save the record in the database, or to Save the record and Generate the JDF Ticket. Click the Save button in the bottom right corner of the window if you only want to Save the record. Click the Generate JDF Ticket button in the lower left corner of the window and the record will be Saved, and then the JDF Ticket will be written to disk in the directory specified in the Preferences for the JDF Tickets Directory. Also, anytime you click one of the record navigation buttons the record is saved automatically. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Duplicating an existing JDF Tickets record: In certain cases there may be a need to duplicate an existing JDF Tickets record and rename it in order to save the time required to modify all the settings for a ticket. This can only be done from the JDF Tickets list view window. 1. Highlight the JDF Ticket record in the list view window that you wish to duplicate as shown above. 2. Select the Tools / Special Functions menu item. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

This will open the Special Functions dialog window. 3. Select Duplicate JDF Ticket in the Special Functions list and click the OK button. The following Confirm dialog will appear asking you to confirm the action. 4. Click the OK button to continue duplicating the record. Click the Cancel button to abort the duplication process. Once the record is duplicated you will see a new record in the list view with the same Display Name as the original record, but with the string _Copy appended to the Display Name. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

5. Double Click the new copy record to open it in the Input form. 6. Change the Display Name to an appropriate name. 7. Make any changes required in the field settings on the various tabs. 8. Save the changes by clicking the Save button or the Generate JDF Ticket button. Assigning a JDF Ticket to a DP2 Book Product: Once you have created a JDF Ticket record, generated and stored the Ticket in the JDF Tickets directory, you will assign the ticket to the DP2 book product that it will be linked with when sending rendered PDF output to the Indigo press using this DP2 to Indigo workflow. Assumptions: 1. Each Product that will be used in this workflow must be designated as a Book in the Product Data record by checking the Book checkbox. 2. The Product Device Type field value must be Nexpress. Note: This will not cause the product to be printed on the Nexpress, but it does enable us to activate the NexPress Book Product functionality which allows us to store the JDF Ticket Display Name in the Template Name field of the Book Products for NexPress record. 3. A Book Products for NexPress record must be created for each Book product that will be sent to the Indigo press. Enter the Book Product ID in the Product ID field and the JDF Ticket Display Name in the Template Name field. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Once this is done, any time an Order Item is created manually using this Product by drag and drop or by using the Commands Importer script command CreateOrderItemAndJob, the Template Name will get copied to the Order Item Book Attributes record. The example above is a single page book product that we created by dragging the product from the Products table thumbnail view into the Order Items view and then dragging an image onto the Order Item. When you right click on the Order Item and select Books / Book Attributes in the contextual menu...the Books record opens in the grid view and you see the Template Name and Device Type values that were entered in the Book Products for NexPress record. When an Order Item is submitted to an Indigo Queue using the DP2 to Indigo script workflow, it is this Book Attribute record that will loaded to check for the Template Name for the script to know what JDF Ticket to load from the JDF Tickets directory. Repeat this process of creating the JDF Ticket and assigning it to a DP2 Product for each product that will be submitted to an Indigo queue. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

It is suggested that you start out with just a couple of products for testing purposes so that you can get familiar with the process before setting up all of the Indigo products. DP2 to Indigo custom DP2 scripts: This section of the reference manual will deal specifically with the custom DP2 scripting portion of this application workflow. Installation Important Note: Due to the fact that one of our install scripts adds a new field in the Printer Queue table of the DP2 database, it is advisable to shut down all DP2 printers before doing the installation. This is just a precautionary step to avoid the possible loss of work in a print batch. The installation files for the custom DP2 scripting are contained in the zip file labeled DP2_to_Indigo_ zip Unzip the file and you will see the following: There will be two directories inside the DP2_to_Indigo directory. 1. DragOnToDP2ToInstall 2. GoesInScripts First, you will copy the contents of the GoesInScripts directory into the Scripts directory in the DP2 application directory on the DP2 server machine. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

Next, you will need to launch any DP2 client workstation and drag each of the two files inside the DragOnToDP2ToInstall directory onto the grey background of the DP2 application window. This will install the new interface objects and the new System Settings to the DP2 application. After this is done, any DP2 workstation that is restarted will be updated with the new features. New System Settings: There will a new System Setting added by the install script. The installation script will add the new SystemSetting record but will leave them disabled until the user modifies the records and then checks the Enabled checkbox and saves the record. The Type field for all new records will contain ISI_DP2ToIndigo so that all the SystemSettings for this application will be grouped together. The new Setting will store the network path to the directory in which the JDF Ticket template files are stored that get created by the JDF Ticket Creator tool application. This will be the same directory that you designated in the JDFTC application as the JDF Tickets Directory. The new record will look similar to the following: New JDF_Templates_Directory System Settings record Each of the System Settings records shown above will be created by the installation script but it is the user s responsibility to modify the Setting field in each with the correct entries and check the Enabled check box to make them active. The OnOrderComplete script will not function without these settings being completed properly. Setting up an Indigo Printer Queue: The new OnOrderComplete script that you installed in the Scripts directory has a filename of ISI_IndigoOrderComplete.txt. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev

In order for the DP2 to Indigo scripts to work, you must set up at least one Printer Queue that calls the ISI_IndigoOrderComplete script. Load the Order Complete script into the Order Complete Script column of each Printer Queue that will be used to send work to the Indigo press using this script functionality. Order Complete Script entry in Printer Queue This will designate that Queue as an Indigo queue and the script will be called each time work is submitted to that queue for printing and the render engine has completed rendering all the order items in the print batch. Next you will enter network path to the Indigo DFE Hot folder in the Control Folder field of the Printer Queue record. This will be the directory path on the Indigo DFE where the JDF Tickets will be written into for each PDF that is rendered from a Printer Queue that is designated as an Indigo queue. It will look similar to the following: Control Folder entry in Printer Queue You will need to check with your Indigo documentation to determine what the proper location of this directory should be for the DFE to function properly. By storing the path to the DFE Hot Folder in the Queue, you will be able to support multiple Indigo press printers by setting up a Printer Queue for each press. Optional Queue setting: One optional feature of the DP2 to Indigo script workflow is to assign a JDF Ticket template to a Printer Queue. If you choose to do so, this JDF Ticket will override any JDF Ticket linked to the product submitted to the queue. This feature would probably only be used for simple one page products that all use the same substrate and the same attributes. When designing this workflow, we added this feature not really knowing how the labs would use it, but understanding that the queue is used to override product output settings in the normal DP2 workflow, so we wanted to at least make it an option. You get to figure out how or if you want to take advantage of it. ISI JDFTC & DP2 to Indigo Reference Rev
