13 Keyboard Shortcuts Tabbing Commands D Program Mode Media 100 gives you a number of tabbing options for moving rapidly through a timeline with Program mode active. You can also extend or contract a timeline range selection by depressing the Shift key while you use any of the following combinations. Tab Key Pressing the Tab key advances the CTI to the next cut, or, in the absence of a cut, to the next In point or Out point in the active (chosen) track. Control Key and Tab Key Pressing the Tab key with the Control key pressed moves the CTI to the previous cut, or, in the absence of a cut, to the previous In point or Out point in the active (chosen) track. Next Button Right (Edit Suite window) Clicking the advance-right button advances the CTI to the next cut, or, in the absence of a cut, to the next In point or Out point in the active (chosen) track. Previous Button Left (Edit Suite window) Clicking the advance-left button moves the CTI to the previous cut, or, in the absence of a cut, to the previous In point or Out point in the active (chosen) track. Option Key and Tab Key Pressing the Tab key with the Option key pressed advances the CTI to the next user mark (green) or the next In or Out mark (yellow) on the timeline ruler. Option Key and Left Arrow Key Pressing the Left Arrow key with the Option key pressed moves the CTI to the previous user mark (green) or the previous In or Out mark (yellow) on the timeline ruler; or to the previous cut; or, in the absence of a cut, to the previous In point or Out point in the active (chosen) track. Edit Clip Mode With both Edit Clip mode and a program active, the following tabbing conventions apply. The clip chosen by the tabbing action is automatically transferred to the Edit Suite window for editing. Tab Key Pressing the Tab key advances the CTI to the next In point of the next clip in the active (chosen) track. If a bin is active, the next clip in the current sort order is transferred into the Edit Suite window. Control Key and Tab Key Pressing the Tab key with the Control key pressed moves the CTI to the previous In point of the previous clip in the active (chosen) track. If a bin is active, the previous clip in the current sort order is transferred into the Edit Suite window. 640

Next Button Right (Edit Suite window) Clicking the advance-right button advances the CTI to the next In point of an overlay clip in the G (Graphics) track. Previous Button Left (Edit Suite window) Clicking the advance-left button moves the CTI to the previous In point of an overlay clip in the G (Graphics) track. Transition Mode The following tabbing conventions apply with Transition mode active. Tabbing in the fx track requires that clips have durations. Tab Key Pressing the Tab key advances the CTI to the In point of the next clip in the fx track. 641

17 Timeline Navigation Keyboard Shortcuts The subsampler in the Edit Suite window and an external video monitor connected to an appropriate video output channel at the Media 100 Junction Box always display the frame at the CTI position. There are a variety of ways to move the CTI or scroll the Program window to the current time. The Program window and the Edit Suite window in Program mode work together. You can use the miniature program displayed in the Edit Suite window to move quickly to the approximate area of interest. You can zero in on a particular clip or frame using the timeline in the Program window. The following tables summarize the ways in which you can navigate through a program timeline. D Mouse Action Click in the Program window timeline or in a track outside any clips. Click in the miniature program in the Edit Suite window. Drag the CTI in the Program window. Drag the CTI in the miniature program in the Edit Suite window. Click the left or right scroll buttons in the Program window. Click in the scroll bar near the left or right scroll buttons in the Program window. Result Moves the CTI to where you clicked. Moves the CTI to the frame time where you clicked. Updates the current time dynamically as you drag. Updates the current time dynamically as you drag. The Program window does not scroll to the new location unless you press the Enter key. Moves the CTI three time divisions in the specified direction. Moves the CTI left or right by the length of one screen (the number of displayed time divisions minus one). 643
