Cnnect t Internet; the wrking Internet cnnectin is needed, unless packages sp, R2HTML, RODBC and XML have been installed befrehand

NB Fr crrect functin f GCDkit, packages sp, R2HTML, RODBC and XML are essential. Select libraries t be (re)installed nte that sme f the are required, if nt present already in the system. Recmmended packages are als rgdal, tkrplt, and curl used fr map tl in the EartChem mdule Fr their installatin, wrking Internet cnnectin is required The R system will prmpt yu t select a CRAN mirrr nearby

If dne, GCDkit is laded autmatically. Specify sme GCDkit ptins: yu may like t set the default data directry, language fr the classificatin plts and sme clur ptins. D nt wrry, these can be set up even later, frm within GCDkit, using the menu GCDkit > Optins

8 Running GCDkit (Windws RGUI) 5. Running GCDkit is pssible in three ways: If the shrtcut has been created successfully n yur Windws desktp, simply duble click it and R (RGUI) shuld start lading the GCDkit n fly. Run R, preferentially 32 bit versin f RGUI (the R i386 shrtcut). If in GUI, yu can lad the GCDkit library using the menu Packages > Lad package > GCDkit. Otherwise type library(gcdkit) int the R Cnsle/Rterm windw. WARNING: DO NOT DELETE the file.rprfile in yur GCDkit directry. Otherwise the desktp shrtcut t run the GCDkit will stp wrking.

9 Installing GCDkit (via Windws installer) TROUBLESHOOTING If the shrtcut has nt been created autmatically, r des nt functin prperly, fllw the instructins n the errr screen t make yur wn versin. If installatin fails fr any unfreseen reasn, yu can always resrt t the installatin as a library frm either RGUI r Rterm (see the fllwing slides). See als the relevant entries f ur blg at NOTE that the library RODBC is essential fr imprt/exprt f many file frmats, including Excel (XLS, XLSX), MS Access (MDB) and DBase, IgPet, MinPet and utput f the nline database NAVDAT (DBF).

Install GCDkit Still frm the R cnsle, invke the menu Packages > Install package(s) frm lcal zip files...

Install R2HTML, RODBC, XML and sp supprting libraries Run the Rterm Type in [wrking Internet cnnectin is required]: install.packages(c("r2html","rodbc","xml","sp")) Alternatively, yu can install these three libraries ffline using the menu Packages > Install package(s) frm lcal zip files Dwnlad the GCDkit_5.0.zip library frm 4. Install GCDkit Still in Rterm, type: install.packages("full_path\\gcdkit_5.0.zip",reps=null) where FULL_PATH is a full path t the installatin (.zip) file NB that dubled backslashes are t be used in path names as custmary in R
