3 What the LaunchPad program does Using LaunchPad LaunchPad enables you to run any of the programs which make up your access control system without having to log in to each one individually. You can configure any of the programs so they run automatically as soon as you log in to LaunchPad. You can configure System Manager and any Comms Drivers or Modem Drivers to start communicating with Controllers and collecting data before the operator is asked to log in to LaunchPad. This is useful if there is a power failure as the system will re-start automatically when power is restored. LaunchPad contains the details of the operators - the people who can log in to the software. You use LaunchPad to add new operators, delete operators, and set the permissions for each of the operators. The permissions define which parts of the software each operator is allowed to use. The master operator has access to all parts of the software, and can set all the other operators permissions. You use LaunchPad when you want to change your operator login name or password, or your language. LaunchPad enables you to read any of the manuals from portable document files (.pdf files) using a pdf reader which is supplied on the DVD-ROM. LaunchPad enables you to open any of the help files for the access control programs. LaunchPad is installed automatically when you install any part of the access control software from the DVD-ROM. You can run LaunchPad from an icon in your access control folder in the Start menu in the normal way, or you can add it to the StartUp folder so that it runs automatically whenever the computer is switched on, see Putting LaunchPad in the StartUp folder later in this section. When you run LaunchPad, you are asked to log in using your name and password. When you have done this, programs configured to run automatically will immediately start up. You can start the other programs if you click on their icon on LaunchPad s pages. 7-3

4 Using LaunchPad Note: if you log in to LaunchPad as a master operator, then log out and leave other programs running, anyone who uses those programs will have access to all the functions of those programs. Running LaunchPad LaunchPad may be configured to run automatically when you switch on your computer or re-boot it, see later. If not, you can either run LaunchPad from the shortcut placed on your desktop when you installed the access control software, or from the Start menu in Windows. From the LaunchPad shortcut Double-click on the LaunchPad shortcut on your desktop. When the Login box is displayed, the default name and password are master and password. From the Start menu Click on the Start button, move the pointer to Programs, then move the pointer to your access control program folder, then click on the LaunchPad entry. When the Login box is displayed, the default name and password are master and password. On Line / Off Line indication The colour of the panel on which the clock is displayed tells you whether the computer is communicating with the controllers. If the panel is green, System Manager is running and all the Comms Drivers are on line. If the panel is yellow, System Manager is running, but one or more Comms Drivers are off line. If the panel is flashing red, either all the Comms Drivers are off line, or System Manager is not running. 7-4

5 Running a program from LaunchPad LaunchPad has several tabs which display different pages in LaunchPad. Each of these pages has buttons which you click on to run the various programs and features which make up the access control software. To run a program from LaunchPad, click on the tabs until you find which page it is on. (If you do not know what program each icon represents, move the pointer to each icon and wait for the hint text to appear. This will tell you the name of the program.) The Operator tab displays Cardholders, Monitor & Control, Reports, Local Printing, Remote Site Supervisor, Eventys (DVR Viewer): The Administrator tab displays Access Configuration, System Administrator, Archive, CLIC, Hardware Systems, Time Synchronisation, Setup Wizard: The Communications tab displays System Manager, Comms Drivers, Modem Drivers, TCP/IP drivers and Granta Pipes: The Extras tab displays Image Monitor, Alarm Graphics, XLink, CCTV, Visitors: When you have found the program you want, click on the its icon to run it. 7-5

6 Logging out of LaunchPad To log out of LaunchPad, click on the button. Reading a manual from LaunchPad To read a manual from LaunchPad, click on the Manuals page tab, then click on the icon for the language you are using. The acrobat reader opens and the document index is displayed which gives a list of all the available manuals, and a brief explanation. Click on the manual in the list which you want to read. (If the pdf files are not installed, the DVD-ROM must be loaded.) Opening a help file from LaunchPad To open a help file from LaunchPad, click on the Help page tab, then click on the icon for the language you are using. In the help contents, click on the help you want to see. 7-6

7 Setting up the operators (people who can log in to the software) Master operators and permissions At least one operator (the system administrator) has access to the permissions of all the operators able to log in to the system. (The permissions determine which parts of the access control software an operator is able to use, and whether that operator is allowed to change things, or just look at them.) A master operator can change any operator s permissions, password, name, or language. The very first operator record is always a master operator; it cannot be deleted and it always has the full set of permissions. A master operator can add new operator records, as described later. If a new operator record has the Add/Edit Operator Permissions check box selected, that operator will be a master operator. Warning: master operators can change their own and any other operator s permissions and passwords, including the system administrator s password. Be careful. Changing the master name and password (When you first install the software, you should change the default name and password for the master operator as soon as possible to prevent unauthorised use of the software.) 1. Right-click on the main area of LaunchPad s Title page (not on one of the tabs) and choose the Permissions command from the menu. The Permissions box shows the one master operator called MASTER (MP are the initials of this operator). 7-7

8 2. Right-click on MASTER MP and choose the Details command from the menu. The Operator Details box shows the name of the operator and the operator's initials, the language the screens are displayed in for this operator, and the password (which is shown as stars so it cannot be read). 3. Type the name you want to use to log in to the software in the Name field, your initials in the Initials field and your password in the Password field. When you change the password, another field is displayed labelled Confirm Password. You must type your new password in both the Password field and the Confirm Password field and the two entries must be identical for the new password to be accepted. 7-8

9 Note: remember your password - if you forget your new password you will not be able to log in. 4. When the details on the screen are correct, click on the OK button. The screen now shows your name and initials as the master operator. Note that the first master operator has access to all features of the software and the permissions cannot be changed. If you want to add new operators, you can right-click on the master operator in the above screen and choose New from the menu, as described below. New operators can be given access only to those parts of the software which you want them to use. Adding a new operator If you are logged in as a master operator, you can add operator records for everyone who needs access to the Software and you can select the features which each operator can use. 1. Right-click on the main area of LaunchPad s Title page (not on one of the tabs) and choose the Permissions command from the menu. 2. Right-click on your name and choose the New command from the menu. The cursor flashes in the Name field, ready for you to enter a new operator record. 3. In the Name field, type the name the new operator wishes to use when logging on to the Software. 7-9

10 4. We recommend that you leave the Password field unchanged. The new operator can choose his or her own password later. 5. You must type the operator s initials in the Initials field. 6. To change the language for the new operator, click on the Language field to see the list of languages available. 7. If you are using Alarm Profiles and you wish this new operator to be able to see only certain types of alarm on the Alarm List screen, click on the Change button, then click on the Alarm Profile field and choose the alarm profile you want from the list. Alarm profiles are defined using the System Administration program. 8. Click on the OK button. The new operator s login name and initials are now displayed in the list of operators on the left. 7-10

11 9. Click on to the left of the new operator s login name. Using LaunchPad The headings for each group of permissions are now displayed. 10. Click on one of the headings on the left and select the parts of the Software which the operator is allowed to use by clicking in the relevant check boxes on the right. Checked options are available when the operator logs in. Here is an example for LaunchPad permissions: Warning. Putting a check in the Add/Edit Operator Permissions check box enables the operator to add new operators, delete existing operators and change permissions, as you are doing now. This makes the new operator a master operator. Anyone who is a master operator can change any part of the system setup and can also prevent people logging on by changing their passwords, including the system administrator s master password. Be very careful. Normally, no one but the system administrator should be a master operator. Any 7-11

12 operator who is not a master operator can still change their own password any time they wish. 11. Repeat step 10 until you have chosen permissions for each of the headings on the left. 12. Click on the OK button to save the new operator record. Note: if you right-click in the permissions panel on the right of the form, a pop-up menu is displayed which enables you to Select All permissions, Clear All permissions, or Reset the permissions to the default values. Adding a new operator with the same permissions as an existing operator You can add a new operator and at the same time copy the permissions of an existing operator so you don t have to enter them all again. 1. Right-click on the main area of LaunchPad s Title page (not on one of the tabs) and choose the Permissions command from the menu. 2. Right-click on the name of the operator whose permissions you want for the new operator, and choose the Copy command from the menu. 3. Enter the name, initials and language of the new operator. 4. Click on the OK button. Adding a new operator to a system which uses partitions The most common use for partitions is in a situation where you have one access control system for a whole building, but several different organisations or companies within that building who only wish to see and edit records relating to their own cardholders, doors (access points) and access levels. You do this by setting up a partition for each organisation and putting their cardholders, access points and access levels into that partition. Every operator can be a member of one or more partitions. Each operator can only see and edit cardholders, access points and access levels which belong to those partitions. (Note that the first master operator in the list of operators in LaunchPad always has access to all records in all partitions.) There is a fixed partition called PUBLIC which cannot be changed or deleted. You should give each operator access to their own partition and also to the PUBLIC partition - doing this enables them to move all their own cardholder records and access points from the PUBLIC partition into their own partition, and to define the access levels which they need. To add a new operator and give them access to their own partition and the PUBLIC partition, take the following steps: 7-12

13 1. Right-click anywhere in the left panel of the Permissions screen and choose the New command from the drop-down menu. 2. In the Name field, type the name the new operator wishes to use when logging on to the Software, and type his or her initials in the Initials field. 3. Choose the language they want to use in the Language field. 4. We recommend that you leave the Password field unchanged. The new operator can log on using a blank password and choose his or her own password later. 5. Leave the PUBLIC partition ticked and tick the partition to which this operator belongs. 7-13

14 6. When all the details are correct, click on the OK button. The new operator s login name and initials are now displayed in the list of operators on the left. 7. Click on to the left of the new operator s login name and set up their permissions as you would do normally. Warning. Putting a check in the Add/Edit Operator Permissions check box enables the operator to add new operators, delete existing operators and change permissions, as you are doing now. This makes the new operator a master operator. Anyone who is a master operator can change any part of the system setup and can also prevent people logging on by changing their passwords, including the overall system administrator s master password. Be very careful. Normally, no one but the overall system administrator should be a master operator. Any operator who is not a master operator can still change their own password any time they wish. 7-14

15 8. When you have set up this operator s permissions, click on the OK button. 9. Repeat steps 1 to 8 for all the operators you need to add in all the partitions. Removing an operator record If you are logged in as a master operator, you can delete operator records. 1. Right-click on the main area of LaunchPad s Title page (not on one of the tabs) and choose the Permissions command from the menu. 2. Right-click on the name of the operator you want to delete and choose the Delete command from the menu. 3. Click on the OK button. The operator cannot now log on the the Software. You cannot delete the first operator record - there is no Delete command in the menu. Changing an operator record If you are logged in as a master operator, you can edit operator records. 1. Right-click on the main area of LaunchPad s Title page (not on one of the tabs) and choose the Permissions command from the menu. 2. Right-click on the name of the operator whose details you want to change and choose the Details command from the menu. 3. Edit any of the fields. If you change the password, another field is displayed labelled Confirm Password. You must type the new password in both the Password field and the Confirm Password field and the two entries must be identical for the new password to be accepted. 4. When you have finished, click on the OK button. Changing your own operator password If you are not logged in as a master operator, you can still change your own password and other details. 1. Right-click on the main area of LaunchPad s Title page (not on one of the tabs) and choose the Permissions command from the menu. 2. Right-click on your operator name and choose the Details command from the menu. 7-15

16 3. When you change your password, another field is displayed labelled Confirm Password. You must type your new password in both the Password field and the Confirm Password field and the two entries must be identical for your new password to be accepted. 4. When you have finished, click on the OK button. Make sure you remember your new password or you will not be able to log in. Configuring LaunchPad Configuration options When you install a new system, LaunchPad is automatically installed and configured with up to seven pages: Title page - cannot be removed or dragged to a different place. Operator, Administrator, Communications and Extras pages - these four pages list an icon for each installed component. You can run any of the components by clicking on them, or you can configure them to run automatically as soon as you log in to LaunchPad, see Setting a program to Auto Start later in this section. Each copy of Comms Driver has its profile number displayed next to its icon. If you have remote sites, each copy of Modem Driver has its modem number displayed next to its icon. Manuals page - enables you to read the index of manuals available in the language of your choice, plus a brief description of each one. Just click on a manual in the index to read it. Help page - enables you to read the index of help files available in the language of your choice. Just click on a help file in the index to display its contents. You can add icons to pages, remove icons from pages, and add or remove the pages themselves. You can also change the settings for icons, for example, so that programs automatically run when you log in to LaunchPad. You can use just one LaunchPad configuration for everybody (the default configuration), or each operator can choose his or her own configuration (operator configurations). 7-16

17 Putting LaunchPad in the StartUp folder If you want LaunchPad to run whenever you switch on or re-boot your computer, you need to put it in the StartUp folder in Windows. 1. Click on the Start button, move the pointer to Settings, then choose the Taskbar option. 2. Click on the Start Menu Programs tab. 3. Click on the Add button. 4. In the command line field, type the path and filename of the LaunchPad program file, or use the Browse button to find the LaunchPad program file, then click on the Next button. The default path is c:\program Files\Siemens\Granta\sysmgrsql\Progs\launch32.exe go Note: the go parameter causes LaunchPad to run System Manager, Comms Drivers and Modem Drivers (if configured to Auto Restart - see the next section on Setting Auto Restart ) before asking you to log in. The advantage of this is that if the power to the computer fails, when it powers up again the System Manager, Comms Drivers and Modem Drivers can collect data and communicate with the Controllers in the system without waiting for the operator to log in. This means that data collection resumes automatically after a power failure. 5. In the list of folders, find StartUp and click on it, then click on the Next button. 6. In the Select a name for the shortcut field, type LaunchPad then click on the Finish button. Setting Auto Restart When you have put LaunchPad in the StartUp folder, it will run automatically whenever the computer is powered up or re-booted. You can also configure LaunchPad so it will run System Manager and any Comms Drivers and Modem Drivers before asking the operator to log in, so data collection resumes automatically after a power failure. You do this by entering go at the end of the command line, see the previous section on Putting LaunchPad in the StartUp folder, and by setting the System Manager, the Comms Drivers and the Modem Drivers to Auto Restart. To configure System Manager and any of the Comms Drivers and Modem Drivers to Auto Restart, take the following steps: 1. Right-click on the Title page (not on the tab). 2. Choose Auto Restart from the menu. 7-17

18 3. Click on the System Manager check box and any of the Comms Driver and Modem Driver check boxes to select them. When you click on a Comms Driver or Modem Driver check box, you are asked for the Comms Driver profile number or the Modem Driver profile number. Enter the profile number and click on the OK button. 4. Click on the OK button. The checked programs will start collecting data on power up before LaunchPad asks the operator to log in. Setting a program to Auto Start Programs which are configured in LaunchPad to Auto Start will run immediately after the operator logs in. To set a program to Auto Start, take the following steps: 1. Click on the tab for the page containing the program icon. 2. Right-click on the program icon. 3. Choose Properties from the menu. 4. Click on the Auto Start check box to select it. 5. Click on the OK button. Setting a program to Auto End Programs which are configured in LaunchPad to Auto End will either log out (if this option exists) or terminate immediately after the operator logs out of LaunchPad. If the process affects data collection then the usual Are you sure? message is displayed. To set a program to Auto End, take the following steps: 1. Click on the tab for the page containing the program icon. 2. Right-click on the program icon. 3. Choose Properties from the menu. 4. Click on the Auto End check box to select it. 5. Click on the OK button. 7-18

19 Adding a component icon to a page 1. Display the page on which you want the new component by clicking on the page tab. 2. Right-click on a blank part of the page (not on the tab or on one of the existing icons). 3. Choose Add Item from the menu. 4. Click on the Browse button and find the program you want to add to the LaunchPad page. If the program is recognised as being part of the access control system, the box beneath the Hint field is automatically checked. 5. In the Hint field, enter the text you want to appear on the screen to describe the component when you move the pointer over its icon. 6. Type any parameters which you want to add to the command line in the Parameters field. Note that if you are adding a Comms Driver or Modem Driver component, you must enter the profile number which the Comms Driver or Modem Driver will be using. 7. Choose whether you want the program to start automatically when you log in to LaunchPad - click on the Auto Start check box to select it or de-select it. 8. Click on the OK button to add the component to LaunchPad. 9. Drag the icon to any position you want on the page. 10. Use the Auto Arrange Items option to display the icons neatly: rightclick on the page tab and choose the Auto Arrange Items command. The maximum number of icons per page is 30. Note: see later for a description of all the other fields and buttons on the Program Parameters screen. Removing a component icon from a page 1. Display the page from which you want to remove the component by clicking on the page tab. 2. Right-click on the component s icon. 3. Choose Delete from the menu. 4. Click on the OK button. 5. Use the Auto Arrange Items option to display the icons neatly: rightclick on the page tab and choose the Auto Arrange Items command. 7-19

20 Adding a new page 1. Click on one of the existing page tabs (not the Title tab). 2. Right-click on a blank part of the page (not on the tab or on one of the existing icons). 3. Choose Add Tab from the menu. The new tab is displayed and the Color box is displayed. 4. Choose a colour for your new page and click on the OK button. 5. Type in the name you want on the new tab - this will replace the highlighted New Tab text. 6. Click on any part of the new page. 7. Drag the new tab to any position you want in the row of tabs. The maximum number of pages is 10. Removing a page 1. Click on the tab of the page you want to remove. 2. Delete all the icons on the page (you cannot remove a page unless it is blank). 3. Right-click on the page (not on the tab). 4. Choose Remove Tab from the menu. Resizing LaunchPad You can alter the width of the LaunchPad window by dragging the sides in the normal way. The height of the LaunchPad window is fixed. Setting your own LaunchPad configuration Each operator who logs in to LaunchPad can have his or her own configuration (different pages, icons on each page, layout, colours, etc). To create your Operator Configuration, take the following steps: 1. Log in to LaunchPad using your own login name and password (not the default master name and password). 2. Right-click on the Title page (not on the tab). 3. Choose Use Operator Configuration from the menu. 7-20

21 4. Configure LaunchPad to start all programs that you generally require automatically, see Setting a program to Auto Start. Choose your colours, page layouts and icons on each page. 5. Right-click on the Title page and choose Operator Configuration from the menu. Change any of the settings. These settings are described in the section on Default Configuration and Operator Configuration. When you log in next time, your LaunchPad will keep your chosen layout and settings. Menu options and buttons on the Title page Exit button When you click on the exit button, LaunchPad asks if you are sure, then terminates LaunchPad and any running programs which are configured to Auto End, see Setting a program to Auto End. Logout button When you click on the logout button, LaunchPad logs out and any running programs which are configured to Auto End also log out (if they can) or terminate, see Setting a program to Auto End. Customise Languages Enables you to add or remove a language from your system. To install a new language, you must have the language files on a floppy disk. Right-click on the title page (not on the tab) and move the pointer to Customise Languages on the menu. If you choose Add New Language, you are prompted for a disk in drive A: containing the language you want to install. If you have such a disk, LaunchPad will install your new language files in the correct subdirectories for all the components configured in LaunchPad. Note that language disks must be obtained from your supplier. The Remove Language option is only available if you are logged in as the master operator. If you choose Remove Language, LaunchPad gives you a list of currently installed languages. If you choose to remove a language, LaunchPad checks to see if any operator is configured to use it. If not, the language files are deleted (unless it is the only language installed). 7-21

22 Remove Deleted User Profiles From Registry? When you delete operators, the Registry entries are not deleted. Use this command every now and then to keep the Registry tidy. Permissions Used for adding new operators, deleting operators, and setting operator permissions and passwords - see Adding a new operator. System Performance Displays current Windows resources for diagnostic purposes. Right-click on the title page (not on the tab) and choose System Performance from the menu. The text Database/Log Space - Drive C: xxxxmbytes indicates the space remaining on the disk drive. The Oldest Log Record reports the oldest record in the log file, and the Transaction Throughput reports the mean transaction rate as transactions per minute, and the peak rate as transactions per minute. The rates are calculated as follows: Mean = number of readings in file / (time of last reading in mins - time of first reading in mins) Peak = greatest number of readings in any one minute in the file Setup button Enables you to specify system parameters. Alarm Disk Space - The level at which an alarm should be given to the operator that disk space is dangerously low. You can see what the alarm looks like when it occurs by clicking on the Test button. Warn Disk Space - The level at which a warning should be given to the operator that disk space is becoming low. You can see what the warning looks like when it occurs by clicking on the Test button. Note: When the warn level is reached, a warning message disk space: xxmb will be displayed on either an orange (warn level) or red (alarm level) background over the tab selectors. If the LaunchPad is minimised when this occurs, it will automatically return to normal display mode, and will also move to the top of the open windows. This message will continue to appear and disappear on a 5 second cycle, until either the disk space is increased, or the alarm levels lowered. At the same time one of two.wav files will be played every 30 secs. These are called lp_alarm.wav and lp_warn.wav and are in the same folder as Launch32.exe 7-22

23 To disable the warn level, simply set its value to the same as the alarm level value. To disable the alarm level, set its value to 0. To disable both, set both values to 0. By default the warn level is 100Mb, and the alarm 50Mb. Transaction Rate - The records that are used for the Transaction Rate calculation. The choice is between Today (use today s transaction records) and Last Day (use the records from the last day before today on which there were transactions). Auto Restart Configures System Manager, Comms Drivers and Modem Drivers to start collecting data before the log in screen is displayed, see Setting Auto Restart. Default Configuration and Operator Configuration Only one of these options is enabled, depending on whether Use Operator Configuration has been selected, see Setting your own LaunchPad configuration. Right-click on the title page (not on the tab) and choose Default Configuration or Operator Configuration from the menu. Splash Screen Check this box if you want the splash screen (pretty picture) displayed when LaunchPad runs. (Default Configuration only). Play.wav File Check this box if you want the default sound file played when LaunchPad runs. (Default Configuration only). Close all components on exit Check this box if you want to shut down all access control programs when you exit LaunchPad. (Default Configuration only). Initial Display Mode Choose whether you want LaunchPad to be minimised when it runs, or displayed in its normal window. 7-23

24 Always On Top Check this box if you want the LaunchPad window to be displayed on top of all other windows on the screen, even when it is not active. Use Small Icons LaunchPad displays 16x16 program icons - the LaunchPad window becomes smaller. Show Menu The LaunchPad menu is displayed from which you can choose all the options described. Visit our Web Site Runs your web browser program and displays your supplier s web site. Help Gives a list of options for getting information from the LaunchPad help file. Menu options on the page tabs Add Item Enables you to add an icon to a page, see Adding a component icon to a page. Auto Arrange Items If the icons on a page are spread out irregularly, selecting Auto Arrange causes them to shuffle up to the left to a regular spacing. 1. Display the page on which you want to arrange icons by clicking on the page tab. 2. Right-click on a blank part of the page or on the page tab (not on one of the existing icons). 3. Choose Auto Arrange Items from the menu. 7-24

25 Add Tab Enables you to add a new page to LaunchPad, see Adding a new page. Rename Tab Enables you to rename a page tab. 1. Click on the page tab you want to rename. 2. Right-click on a blank part of the page or on the page tab (not on one of the existing icons). 3. Choose Rename Tab from the menu. 4. Type in the name you want on the new tab. 5. Click on any part of the page. Remove Tab Enables you to delete a page from LaunchPad, see Removing a page. Tab Colour Enables you to change the colour of a page. 1. Click on the page tab you want to change the colour of. 2. Right-click on a blank part of the page or on the page tab (not on one of the existing icons). 3. Choose Tab Colour from the menu. The Color box is displayed. 4. Choose a colour for your page and click on the OK button. 7-25

26 Menu options on the program icons Logout Attempts to log out of the program (only works for a very few programs - most can only terminate). 1. Click on the page tab. 2. Right-click on the program icon. 3. Choose Logout from the menu. Close Attempts to terminate the program (only works for programs which are part of the access control system (they must have the relevant check box selected in the Properties option). 1. Click on the page tab. 2. Right-click on the program icon. 3. Choose Close from the menu. Delete Removes this icon from the page (does not delete the files from the computer), see Removing a component icon from a page. Move Enables you to move an icon from one page to another. 1. Click on the page tab containing the icon you want to move. 2. Right-click on the icon you want to move. 3. Choose Move from the menu. 4. Choose the page you want to move it to and click on the OK button. 7-26

27 Properties Displays the properties of the program or file represented by the icon and enables you to change these properties. 1. Click on the page tab containing the icon whose properties you want to view or change. 2. Right-click on the icon whose properties you want to view or change. 3. Choose Properties from the menu. 4. Change any of the settings and click on the OK button. The settings are as follows: Program Name This field contains the pathname of the file, and is the command line used to run it. The pathname can be typed into the field directly, or you can click on the Browse button and locate the file in the usual way. When a pathname is entered, if LaunchPad recognises the filename as part of the access control system then it automatically selects the Component check box. Parameters Characters entered in this field are appended to the command line in the Program Name field (with a space character between the end of the command line and the parameters). Valid parameters for access control program components are: Comms Driver - comms driver profile number - for example: 1 Modem Driver - modem driver profile number - for example: 1 Note that for Comms Drivers and Modem Drivers, the profile number entered here is displayed next to the icon on the LaunchPad page. Hint Text entered here is displayed on the screen when you move the pointer over the icon and keep it still for a moment. We recommend that the text entered here describes what the icon represents, for example, System Manager, or Monitor and Control, etc. 7-27

28 Change Icon button When you enter a program name, LaunchPad will choose an icon for it initially and display it in the top left corner of the Program Parameters box. Click on the Change Icon button if you want to use a different icon. You can choose from some standard icons supplied with Windows, or you can load your own from disk. Component This check box is selected automatically by LaunchPad if it recognises the file in the Program Name field as being part of the access control system. Auto Start Programs which are configured in LaunchPad to Auto Start will run immediately after the operator logs in. Auto End Programs which are configured in LaunchPad to Auto End will either log out (if this option exists) or terminate immediately after the operator logs out of LaunchPad. If the process affects data collection then the usual Are you sure? message is displayed. 7-28
