1 Welcome to Solving Systems Using the TI-Nspire Presented by: Julie Speelman Madeira High School Cincinnati, Ohio Please login to your calculators. Press the button. Select 5: Login

2 Agenda 1. Solving by Graphing 2. Solving by Substitution 3. Solving by Elimination Helpful tips for using the TI-Nspire and the Quick Poll functionality in all three of these areas.

3 Solving by Graphing y = 2x + 3 y = 2x + 7 By hand: Slope and Y-intercept TI-Nspire: Trace Points and Lines TI -Nspire Key Strokes 1: New Documnet Graphs (on the bottom) Type first equation into f1(x) Type second equation into f2(x) Menu 5: Trace Graph Trace You can type in the x-value Menu 7: Points and Lines 3: Intersection Points Move the mouse over one graph, click or press enter, move the mouse over the other graph and click or press enter. The coordinate of the intersection will appear. (I stay away form the Intersection Point when clicking on the graphs.)
