2 UNIVERGE SV8500 LICENSE & REGISTRATION PROCEDURE OVERVIEW This document describes how to obtain a license file (also referred to as svi.zip file) and an Activation Code from the LMS server for a UNIVERGE SV8500, the UNIVERGE SV8500 UMG and the SR-MGC. It does not cover software installation or software upgrades. Refer to the UNIVERGE SV8500 Installation Manual (NWA ) for further information and details. REQUIREMENTS A PC with Internet Access A valid login to the NEC Information Portal. PROCEDURE I. CREATE A CUSTOMER AND LOCATION 1. Log into the NEC Information Portal: 2. Once logged into the portal: Select Programs, then Licensing Portal (upper left hand corner). 2

3 3. Customers and Locations are managed through the Customer Management tab. To add A customer, select either the Customer tab or the Customer Administration link. 4. Select the Create New Customer icon in the upper right hand corner (the green plus sign). 5. Complete the customer profile; then press the Create button. A confirmation message: Customer was created successfully will be displayed. Note: Once added, existing customer s can be viewed on the Customer Administration page. 3

4 6. Add a Location by selecting the Location icon to the right of the Customer. 8. Select the Create New Customer Location icon (green plus sign) in the upper right and enter the Customer Location information. Select SV8500 for the System and enter the Hardware Key Code(s) for the SV Press the Create button when done. Note: For a SV8500 UMG, select the Is UMG checkbox. This option will enable the UMG Hardware Keys button that will allow entry for all the SV8500 UMG HKCs. 4

5 II. ATTACH LICENSES TO A CUSTOMER Note: This option requires that the Customer / Location profile has already been created. 1. Select the License Administration link on the main page. 2. The License Administration section is used to review orders and attach licenses to a Customer and Location. This page contains three sections: Available Purchase Orders (top of page) Recently Attached Licenses (middle of page) Recently Activated Licenses (bottom of page) 3. Locate the Available Purchase Orders section (top of page). These are the licenses that are still awaiting action; these licenses have not yet been attached to a Customer or Location. Select the applicable purchase order by clicking on the icon to the right of the PO. Note: This section can be searched by the Purchase Order Name or Number. 4. Once a purchase order is selected, a list of the unattached part numbers is shown in the right panel. To select licenses that are to be attached, enter the quantity in the Sel field. When all quantities have been entered, press the Add button. 5

6 5. The selected part numbers will be shown in the right panel and a confirmation message will be displayed on the top of the page. Note: Licenses may be removed from the list by clicking on the delete icon. 6. To attach all licenses that are displayed in the right panel, click the Attach button. 7. Once the Attach button is pressed, a Customer Location Selection pop-up screen is shown. Enter the name of the Customer and Location in the applicable fields. Note: After the first 5 characters are entered, a list matching the entered criteria is displayed. 8. Once the name of the Customer and Location are entered, select either the Attach button or the Attach & Activate button on the pop-up screen. 9. The attached licenses will be shown on the License Administration page. 6

7 IV. REGISTER ATTACHED LICENSES & DOWNLOAD THE SVI.ZIP FILE Note: Registering a license binds the SKC to the HKC and the license can no longer be moved. If you have already navigated to the Attached Licenses section for the customer, using the previous section, then skip to step #4. 1. Select the Customer Administration option on the main page. 2. Select the customer from list by clicking on the Locations icon to the right of the customer. 3. Select the License Information icon to the right of the customer location. 7

8 4. Place a check mark in the box to the left of the license and click Activate. 5. Read the License Agreement and place a check in the checkbox to agree to the terms; then press Proceed. 8

9 6. Press the Download icon to retrieve the svi.zip file from LMS and save the file to your PC. Write down the Activation Code that is displayed, prior to closing the License Activation panel. Download icon Note: When license are downloaded, an is generated and sent confirming the download. The license file is labeled svi.zip. Do not unzip the file; the file is used by the system in the zip format. 7. The license file can now be uploaded to the system, refer to the UNIVERGE SV8500 Installation Manual (NWA ) for further instructions on how to upload the license file and register The Activation Code. 9
