1 How to Connect to the CSH Virtual Desktop From Home (or anywhere you have an Internet connection) We recommend you print the section that applies to you 1. 2 How to Connect to the CSH Virtual Desktop from your Windows Device

3 1. Launch your Internet browser 2. Go to Cold Spring Harbor Schools 3. Click on the link to View Client for windows This will start the installation process. You only need to install the software ONCE. After that, you can just double-click on the icon on your desktop to access the program.

4 Select the VMWare view for Windows for either 32 bit or 64 bit depending on whether your operating system is 32bit or 64bit.

5 Click Download to download the installation file Cold Spring Harbor Schools

6 After Downloading go through the install process outlined in the following slides. Click Next

7 Click Accept and Next

8 You should disable the installation of Log in as Current User by clicking the dropdown arrow and selecting This Feature will not be available. Click Next.

9 In the Default View Connection Server type the web address of View.csh.k12.ny.us into the field. Then click Next.

10 Click Next

11 Click Install. This will go through and install the program. If you leave the Launch VMware client checkbox checked, when the install is finished it will open up the VMware view login dialog box.

12 This is what the VMWare view Icon will look like on your desktop. You can use this to launch the login dialog box.

13 This should already be pre-populated with the web address specified in the Installation section. If it is not, type in view.csh.k12.ny.us into the Connection Server box. Click Connect

14 Login using the username and password that you use in school

15 Connect to the desktop that you see. This is an example for a Lloyd Harbor student, West Side and Jr/Sr High students will see the desktop that corresponds to their schools.

16 You now have access to your desktop. Just open and save files as though you were sitting in school. They will be sitting in your home folder when you come back to school. Cold Spring Harbor Schools

18 Go into the App Store and Search for the VMWare View Client. Download and Install it. You only need to do this step once.

19 This new Application Icon will appear on you ipad. Open the VMware View Application

20 Click on Add Server

21 In the View Connection Server Field, type in view.csh.k12.ny.us Cold Spring Harbor Schools

22 Login using your username and password that you use in school. Click Done.

23 Connect to the desktop that you see. This is an example for a Lloyd Harbor student, West Side and Jr/Sr High students will see the desktop that corresponds to their schools.

24 The first time that you login and connect to a desktop, the Gesture Help Guide will pop up. Take a minute to read through and understand what each of these are, they will be very useful when navigation i the Desktop on you IOS Device. Click Done

27 Open Safari and go to Click the link to download the View Client for Mac OS. This will start the installation process. You only need to install the software ONCE. Once it s installed, you can just launch the application to access the CSH desktop.

28 Click the View Download button for Mac

30 After it downloads, open the VMware View Client.dmg file and it will ask you to agree to the license agreement. Click Agree.

31 To install the application, Drag the View Client Icon into the Applications folder on the Install Screen.

32 Open the VMware view Client after it Installs into the Application Folder.

33 Click the add server button and type the web address of view.csh.k12.ny.us into the hostname address field and click continue.

34 Login using your username and password that you use at school. Click Connect. hsstudent

35 Select the desktop (LH-Student, WS-Student or HS-Student) and Double Click it to open the desktop

36 You now have access to your desktop. Just open and save files as though you were sitting in school. They will be sitting in your home folder when you come back to school.

38 Open Google Play Store and Search for VMware View Client

39 Select the VMware View Client from VMware, Inc.

40 Click Install. This will start the installation process. You only need to install the software ONCE. After that, you can just run the app to access the CSH desktop.

41 Click Accept & Download This Icon will be added to your Applications

42 Click Add Server Cold Spring Harbor Schools

43 In the Server Name field, Type view.csh.k12.ny.us and then give it a name, i.e. CSH Desktops. Click Connect Cold Spring Harbor Schools

44 You should now have a connection in the main screen labeled what you had specified in the previous step. Click on it to launch the Login Dialog Box. Cold Spring Harbor Schools
