2 1. First recmmendatins: See the Media type functinality & features and chse the mst apprpriate media. It is essential t have the media type crrectly calibrated with the printer and print mde, cnsult the Calibrate my printer sectin. In rder t get a crrect display, it s als essential t have the mnitr prfiled, cnsult the Prfile my mnitr sectin. 2. Open the EFI Designer Editin RIP. 3. EFI Designer Editin RIP settings, Preferences: Clr: Check the Active Clr Management checkbx. Paper name: Select the paper type that is laded n the printer (always calibrated) and Best print quality. Print reslutin: 600 x 600. Clr utput mde: Pht print. Yu dn t need t wrry abut the prfiles and rendering intent because yu will select PstScript Clr Management ptin in the applicatin, then, the applicatin tells the RIP which surce prfile and rendering intent shuld be used fr the cnversin t the print space, these are the Dcument prfile and the Print Space Intent f the applicatin. The RIP clr settings will be verridden. Click OK. 4. Open Adbe Illustratr CS. 5. Cnfigure the Clr Settings, Edit menu > Clr Settings : 2

Make sure the Advanced Mde check bx is ticked. Wrking Space > RGB: Adbe RGB (1998). Wrking Space > CMYK: Eurscale Cated v2 (fr Eurpe), U.S. Web Cated (SWOP) v2 (fr US) and Japan Standard v2 (fr Japan).

Prfile Mismatches: check Ask When Opening and Ask When Pasting. Missing Prfiles: check Ask When Opening. Cnversin Optins > Intent: Perceptual (fr RGB images) r Relative Clrimetric (fr CMYK images). Click OK 6. Open the image, File menu > Open : If the dcument has an embedded clr prfile that des nt match the current wrking space, select Use the embedded prfile. Otherwise, select Assign wrking space. 3

Click OK. 7. If yu place an image, yu can embed the image in the dcument.

File menu > Place : brwse the image and uncheck the Link checkbx.

If it desn t have an embedded clr prfile, Illustratr will assign the dcument clr prfile. File menu > Place : brwse the image and uncheck the Link checkbx. If yu are ask Hw d yu want t treat the data?, select Cnvert. Click OK. 8. Make sure yu have cnfigured the Dcument Setup apprpriately fr yur dcument, File menu > Dcument Setup. 9. Cnfigure the Prf Setup dialg bx in rder t prf the utput n the mnitr, View Menu > Prf Setup > Custm : 4

Prfile: Select the prfile f the utput device yu want t prf; the printer prfile generally depends n the printer mdel, media type, it shuld be the same as selected in the EFI RIP Prperties dialg bx.

Nw, yu can retuch yur image and the mnitr will shw yu hw it s ging t lk nce yu ve printed it. 10. Printer Settings, File menu > Print : Printer: Select the printer (ex. EFI Designer Editin).

If yu dn t have it n the list, yu shuld cpy it t the fllwing flder: /Library/ClrSync/Prfiles Intent: Perceptual (fr RGB images) r Relative Clrimetric (fr CMYK images). Click OK. Nw, yu can retuch yur image and the mnitr will shw yu hw it s ging t lk nce yu ve printed it. 10. Printer Settings, File menu > Print : Printer: Select the printer (ex. EFI Designer Editin). Page Setup : Frmat fr: Select the printer. Paper Size: Select the paper size f the media laded n the printer. Orientatin: Select the rientatin f yur image n the paper. Click OK. Printer... buttn: Printer Features (Mac OS X v10.3): Paper Size: Setup. Select RIP s Default n the thers settings. Click Print. 5

6 11. Adbe Illustratr Print settings: General (left hand menu): Media > Size: Defined by Driver. Optins: Select the scaling ptin yu need. Output (left hand menu): Mde: Cmpsite. Clr Management (left hand menu): Print Space > Prfile: PstScript Clr Management Print Space > Intent: Perceptual (fr RGB images) r Relative Clrimetric (fr CMYK images), it shuld be the same as selected in the Prf Setup dialg bx. Click Print. 6
