1 EASY ADVERTISER CARD FIRMWARE UPDATE WHAT IS NEW IN THIS RELEASE Improved performance: Faster loading time from slides or picture to video Faster navigation in user interface response with remote control keys Improved video playback behavior Improved scheduling behavior including the auto standby function Remarks: MPEG2 Program stream type of video is not supported and should be recoded to MPEG Transport stream. 2 EASY ADVERTISER CARD: NEW FIRMWARE (CARD SOFTWARE) INSTALLATION DOWNLOADING EASY ADVERTISER FIRMWARE You are now looking at a screen similar to the picture below. Select Software and drivers, Firmware Upgrade You have clicked on Release Notes, reading the text of this file. It is recommended to print out this file for later use when you are sitting in front of the monitor with the Easy Advertiser card in it. Print it out now. 1. Preparation: Connect a USB drive with enough free memory to one of the USB ports of your PC. When you use the Philips USB drive (as originally delivered in the box with Easy Advertiser) it will show itself as: PHILIPS UFD (F:) on your PC The F: can also be D: or E: or any letter from the alphabet depending on how many other storage devices have been connected to your system and on settings your PC 2. Click on the download button near the text Firmware Upgrade Software

Save : save the file crd01_00_fus_eng.exe on a location on your PC where you can easily find it back. Use the Windows Explorer to select the file and click on it. The next steps are the same as under 2 2. Run : start installing the correct file immediately on a USB key USB drive (recommended) You may get a second security warning that asks you if this file is save to choose Run Choose Run Important note: you should always save the firmware file to the root directory/folder in the USB drive, otherwise the firmware will not be able to be located or run by the Easy Advertiser card when you insert the USB drive into the USB connector on the card. 4. With Run the system is going to put the firmware on the right place of your USB drive but you have to tell exactly where. Next the following window will appear. Click on browse to the select the correct USB drive connected to your PC Click on Unzip and wait until the system is ready You will no get a notification that you have successfully saved / unpacked firmware to the USB drive Close the WinZIP Self Extractor by clicking on the red cross Remark: The file on the USB drive has a name ending with.bin (see picture at the left bottom) 5. Remove the USB drive safely from your PC, walk with the USB drive to your Easy Advertiser and proceed with all the steps on the next pages

Insert a USB drive that contains the firmware with which you want to upgrade your Easy Advertiser card Switch both monitor and card on again Wait until you see a screen similar to the picture on the left Press OK to proceed If you want to continue please confirm by selecting yes with your remote control and press OK to proceed While the card is upgraded with new firmware from the USB drive a progress indicator shows a percentage Do not switch off until the progress indicator has reached 100% When 100% completed the text Reboot now will appear. Press OK and after about 8 seconds the system will reboot and is ready for use. Important note: The system will rename the.bin file to a.deleteme extension after having updated your system. This is to prevent that the whole sequence starts again if you use the same USB drive for your slide shows and movies and have forgotten to remove this file. When you need to update more than one Easy Advertiser, keep in mind that you cannot use the same USB drive: you need to copy or extract the firmware again onto the USB drive or rename this.bin file to its original name.
