Settings Settings Set DJ Rig comfortable with your preferences. You can access the section by tapping on the Settings button at the top bar of the interface. [fig 3.1] Input, Output and HP (Headphone) level This setting monitors and trims the input, output and the headphone level. Increase the level by moving the fader. Keep the fader below the point where the clipping LED starts to blink to avoid clipping and hearing damage. To return to the default settings, just double-tap the faders. The levels are set to 0dB by default. Output Mode This button lets you choose through three different output configurations: DJ: this configuration sends the main mix output to the left channel and headphone output to the right channel. This way with, a proper Y-splitter, you can mix your tracks in a common DJ configuration without a DJ Mixer by sending the left channel of the splitter to the PA and attach headphones to the right channel. Full: this configuration sends the mix of both decks to the device s output and should be used for a semi- automatic mixing scenario with a pre-prepared playlist to switch between songs. Split: this configuration split decks between the two device output channels. Deck A will play through the left channel and Deck B through the right channel of the device s audio output. This configuration sends the decks outputs to your separate channels on your irig Mix using the proper 1/8 TRRS cable included in the package. Deck A will play through the Channel 1 and the Deck B through Channel 2 of irig Mix. It's also possible to use a Y-splitter to send each deck to your own DJ mixer. In this case, the Crossfader and Headphone Assign controls will be disabled because controls on the external mixer will be used to mix the decks instead. However, the Sampler will still allow you to set its headphone assignment selection between Decks A and B. The Output Mode is set to Full by Default. X-Sync

X-Sync lets DJ Rig learn the BPM coming from an external device using the proper optional audio connector (irig Mix, irig or any accessory with an ios device audio input adapter) attached to your ios device to let the device receive an audio input. With X-Sync is enabled, the incoming BPM is detected when you tap the SYNC button. X-Sync is disabled by default. Crossfader Curve Like a professional DJ mixer, this control sets your preferred taper for the crossfader when mixing between decks. Classic: This setting gives you gradually increasing curve. When the crossfader is moved away from the Deck A side, the sound from Deck B will gradually increase as the sound from Deck A gradually decreases. Cut: This setting gives you a sharply increasing curve. When the crossfader is moved away from the Deck A side, you immediately hear the audio output of Deck B. S: This setting gives you a shape that is between the two curves. The fade starts out gradually at the far left or right points and then gets more sharp as you approach the center of the crossfader. The Crossfader Curve is set to Classic by default. Crossfader Filter When introducing the next song by crossfading from one deck to the other, you may want to cut a certain frequency band to make the transition smoother. Bass: cuts low frequencies during crossfading on the outgoing deck High: cuts high frequencies during crossfading on the outgoing deck. When introducing the next song by crossfading from one deck to the other, you may want to cut a certain frequency band to make the transition smoother. Bass : cuts low frequencies during crossfading on the outgoing deck High : cuts high frequencies during crossfading on the outgoing deck Disabled by default. Track End This sets the behavior when the song reaches the end: Stop: stops the deck at the end of the song or end of the playlist

Loop: repeats the song or the entire playlist Next: plays the next song in the song browser list or the next playlist Set to Stop by default. BPM Range This control sets the range of the BPM Fader. Higher values let you apply wider tempo and pitch variations to the song. Lower values give you more smaller variations with more resolution. The pitch range is from +- 8 % to +-100%. The default Pitch Range is 10%. TAP correct BPM Set the TAP button to act as a BPM correction tool, when it's needed to set the tempo in a noncommon music styles tracks. The default Pitch Range is 10%. Waveform Rectified Enable this to show the waveform squared off and zoomed for easier identification of beat points. Disabled by default. CUE Snap Enable this to snap CUEs to the beat. Enabled by default. Auto Level Enable this option to avoid substantial volume differences between songs. Disabled by default. Auto BPM Enable Auto BPM to automatically set the tempo of songs when they are loaded based on the

BPM of the song played in the opposite deck. Disabled by default. Auto Play Enable this option to immediately play the loaded song. Disabled by default. Song Switch Warning Enable this display a confirmation message before switching songs on a deck while playing. Disabled by default. 13 WARNING: Permanent hearing loss may occur if earbuds or headphones are used at high volume. You can adapt over time to a higher volume of sound, which may sound normal but can be damaging to your hearing. Set your device volume to a safe level before that happens. If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or discontinue use of earbuds or headphones with your device. [fig 4.1] & [fig 4.2] The browser will open and immediately display the list of the available songs in the ipod library of the device. Each row will show the Song Title, Album Title, Artist Title and Duration. BPM value shows the tempo of the song after the Beat Map analysis has completed. [fig 4.3] To select a song, simply tap the song name, and the song will be loaded into the current deck. Playlists

[fig 4.5] Playlists are the best way to organize a DJ set, and it's available in the ipod Library. A Playlist can be created or modified directly from the Music app or with itunes on a desktop computer. Create a Playlist Open the Music app [fig 4.6] Select Playlist tab on the bottom [fig 4.7] Tap on the first line of the Playlists window that says "Add Playlist..."

[fig 4.15] The Rig The Rig

[fig 5.1] & [fig 5.2] Load a song or a playlist. DJ Rig has two decks, A and B, and each one has all the features a DJ expects: Deck Selection (only for portrait mode) [fig 5.3] The A and B button let you choose between decks. All the controls refer to the selected deck. (i.e. if you select A, the Load button will load the song or the playlist into Deck A, and the EQ, Effects, Loop and Volume controls will affect the song on Deck A) Waveform display

[fig 5.4] & [fig 5.5] This displays the waveform of the loaded track, the song position and loop portions. Dragging or tapping on the waveform lets you jump or scroll through the song. Once a track is loaded, the waveform will be displayed. In landscape orientation, you can also choose WAVE from the menu to show the waveform. Transport Controls Play [fig 5.6] Deck Play buttons A and B allow you to play or stop the decks.

Vinyl / Digital Jog [fig 5.7] Accurate reproduction of real vinyl behavior, enable scratching and create cutting effects using fingers. To scratch, drag on the vinyl with fingers. To jump to another position, drag the turntable arm along the vinyl. To block the vinyl, tap and hold on the turntable. To slow down the song to a stop, tap the Engine switch on the left bottom side to switch off the deck engine. [fig 5.8] To start the vinyl spinning again, tap the play button. Digital Deck A Digital Jog controller is also available as In-App Purchase.

[fig 5.9] BPM fader and Sync Button BPM fader

[fig 5.10] & [fig 5.11] Like a real turntable, you can slow down or speed up the turntable rotation speed by different range percent in either direction. Dragging up will decrease the speed, while dragging down will increase the turntable speed. The ADJUST button changes the BPM value by half or double the tempo, and it also provides a tap tempo function. There are also Pitch Bend buttons + and - that slow down or speed up the deck in order to reduce the beat drift between songs. Sync Button [fig 5.12] Mixing means mashing up songs or fading from one song to another while matching the beat closely as possible. It can be done by approximately adjusting the beat of the next song by changing its pitch to match the beat of the current song that is fading out. This can be done manually, but you need experience, and it takes a lot of effort.

Instead, use the Sync button. When you load a song, the button will light with a red spinning glow. This means that DJ Rig is guessing the BPM of the song. The glow will stop when the BPM is analyzed and accurately detected. After that, you can start synchronizing decks by BPM only. Now Beat Map analysis begins, and a red progress bar appears over the waveform. In landscape mode, you can also see when the Beat Map data will be available. This will give you the best and most accurate sync between decks. It is also possible to analyze the whole library in one shot using the Library Analysis preference in the settings. With Beat Map data available, tapping the Sync button shows if decks are synchronized and aligns the BPM and beats. When the SYNC label blinks, this means a drift between decks is detected. When the SYNC label is steady, the decks are perfectly synchronized. The Beat Map data is stored with the song information until the DJ Rig app is removed from the device. There is an option in Settings that allows all the songs metadata to be backed up in one restorable file. This is useful in case a system restore is needed or if the DJ Rig app is accidentally deleted. X-Sync [fig 5.13] Many DJs will love to integrate their own external decks (CDJ or turntable) into their rig. The X- Sync feature lets you sync the internal DJ Rig decks with external sources such as a CD Player or turntable. To use this feature, an audio input adaptor is required such irig Mix or irig to get the audio into your ios device. Send the audio signal or connect the audio output of the external device (CD Player or turntable) to the audio input of the ios device audio adapter (irig Mix, irig). You can enable or disable this feature on the Settings page. When enabled, the detected BPM from the external device will be displayed and update over the SYNC button. Tap the SYNC button to set the current deck to the detected BPM.

Cue Cue Points [fig 6.1] [fig 6.2] Cue Points mark your favorite song positions so can quickly jump there later. Set a CUE Point Get as close possible to the desired song position with the transport controls or by spinning the vinyl until you reach the desired point. Tap a cue number to store the current song position. [fig 6.4] The cue number will be highlighted by the same color of the cue point now displayed on the vinyl.

[fig 6.5] & [fig 6.6] After the cue is set, the button will dim to show that a cue is stored. [fig 6.7] Recall a CUE Point To recall the cue points, tap the desired dimmed Cue button and the song will start again from the selected point. [fig 6.8] Empty a CUE Point To empty out a cue point, tap the EMPTY button and tap on the CUE point that must be emptied. [fig 6.9] DJ Rig has only one cue point by default. Up to 4 cue points are available as an optional In-App Purchase. Cue points are stored as song information in the metadata backup file.

Loop Loop [fig 7.1] [fig 7.2] Loop gives you the ability to repeat portions of the song, create groundbreaking stutter effects or enrich the mash-up process. Set a loop Tap the desired loop division button. The portion of the song will then loop, and the waveform will

show the loop range. [fig 7.3] [fig 7.4] Disable or modify a loop Tap the same division button again to disable the loop, or select another division. Thanks to our looping algorithm, the loop will always snap to the beat.

Mixer Controls Mixer Controls Volume knob [fig 8.1] The Volume control adjusts the volume of the selected deck. If the Auto-Level setting is enabled, the volume control is set automatically each time a song is loaded based on the level of the opposite deck. Crossfader [fig 8.2] The crossfader lets you transition between Deck A and B by dragging from one side to the other. By selecting different fade curve from the Settings Panel, it s possible to deliver smooth fades to quick cuts. Headphone Monitor button [fig 8.3] As in a physical DJ Rig, the Headphone Monitor button lets you assign decks or the sampler to the Headphone channel so you can listen, prepare, and mix the decks and sampler in a smooth way. To assign the desired deck or sampler to the Headphone channel (right channel) when using the DJ output configuration, tap the Headphone button, and the signal from the current deck or sampler is sent to the Headphone channel. Using the Split output configuration, the control is disabled for decks since the decks are automatically assigned to the left and right output. But the Headphone control remains available for the Sampler, sending to the right output when activated. The Headphone channel output level is set by the HP fader on the Settings page.

EQ EQ [fig 9.1] [fig 9.2] Each deck has a 3-band EQ allowing you to increase or decrease Low, Mid and High frequencies. To adjust, drag the knob up and down. Double-tap the knob to revert the setting back to the default position.

You will then be asked to connect to itunes. fig [12.10] Connect your device to your computer using the 30-pin to USB Apple cable, and open itunes. Wait until your device is detected, then click its icon. Now go to the top of the itunes window and

click on Apps. You will see two main tables: Sync Apps and File Sharing. Choose the DJ Rig App under File Sharing. The exported recording will appear in the right window called "DJ Rig Documents" as pictured below. fig [12.11] From here, you can select your recording and click Save to... to save it anywhere on your computer, or you can just drag it wherever you prefer. b) You can also send your recording via . Just tap in the export method selection popup menu, and a new message will be created like the one below.

fig [12.12] Enter the recipient in the To: field, then tap the Send button to complete the recording transfer. c) Wi-Fi import 1. Tap Wi-Fi, and DJ Rig will display a web address to enter into your desktop web browser (Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox etc.). Here you can see the list of the recordings available. In order to download them to your hard drive, tap the Download button, and wait until the "Done" button appears. fig [12.13]

fig [12.14] 2. To close the instructions on your device, tap Done. Important! Tap "Done" only after the recordings transfer process has completed. Creating a direct wireless connection between your iphone and your computer If you experience problems creating the network between your iphone/ipod/ipad and your computer, this may be due to a firewall that is blocking the connection request from the computer to your iphone/ipod/ipad. If your computer has a net adapter, you can overcome this problem by establishing a direct connection. To connect your iphone/ipod/ipad directly to your computer follow these steps: MAC: 1) Turn your AirPort On 2) Choose Create Network from the Network Preferences drop-down menu, and name the network you've just created 3) Tap the Settings button on your iphone/ipod/ipad, tap 'Wi-Fi,' then choose your new Network PC: 1) Check that you have a Wi-Fi adapter and that it is enabled 2) Create a new "ad-hoc" Network and give it a name (the "ad-hoc" connection can also be called "computer-to-computer") 3) Tap the Settings button on your iphone/ipod/ipad, tap 'Wi-Fi,' then choose your new Network

Shop Shop Tap the Cart button to open the DJ Rig Shop. [fig 13.1] Scroll through the list to view the names, descriptions and prices of the available additional features. [fig 13.2] When you find a feature that interests you, just tap on it, and a window will appear to confirm the purchase. Enter your itunes Store password here, confirm, and the selected features will be immediately available in DJ Rig! After your purchase it, the option will disappear from the Shop section and will be available in your DJ Rig app.

Account Account Tap the ACCOUNT button to register DJ Rig and unlock free features. [fig 14.1] A User Registration page will appear. Choose Existing account if you have already an IK Multimedia account. Choose Create new account if you have never registered an IK Multimedia product. Note: This does not refer to your itunes account. This is your IK Multimedia user account. [fig 14.2] Existing account

[fig 14.3] Enter the User Name and Password of your IK Multimedia user account on the IK Multimedia web site, and tap Register. This will unlock the free FX included in your DJ Rig app. If you have lost your password, tap "Forgot password?", submit your address, and a new password will be sent to your registered account. [fig 14.4] Create new account

[fig 14.5] If you don't have a IK Multimedia user account, tap New account to create a new one. You can access the New user account page from the initial User Registration pop-up message or from the Existing account page. When the New user account page opens, enter your details (first name, last name, E- mail, country and phone) and tap on "Register" to create your IK Multimedia account.
