1 Omnia.11 Version 1.2 Update This update is for units currently running version 1.1(119) as shown in the Setup menu ONLY. If your unit is running an earlier version (such as v1.03), you will need to update via CF card swap. Please contact Omnia Customer Support to obtain the update card. Please also see the manual addendum starting on Page 3 of this booklet which covers all of the new features included in this version 1.2 update. Please have the serial number of your unit handy if you need to contact us. The serial number can be found on a small barcode sticker on the rear panel that looks like this: 0279xyyyy. *IMPORTANT NOTE: This update requires the use of the built-in webpage remote control interface. Be sure that your Omnia.11 is properly configured for and connected to your network (or computer) per Appendix C in the user manual before updating. Your network parameters and Livewire settings will be carried over and activated automatically after the update. Any existing custom user processing and I/O configuration presets will also be carried over but will not be loaded automatically after the update. These must be manually selected from the front panel or the remote interface in order for the unit to begin passing audio. Still, please be sure to save your user presets to a computer before you update! Software Update Procedure 1. From the Setup menu, verify that the currently running version as shown in the System icon is 1.1(119). If it is, proceed to Step 2. If it is an earlier version, you ll need to contact Omnia Customer Support to obtain a compact flash card. 2. Download the version 1.2 update file (.oup) from the Omnia website here: 3. Connect to the Omnia.11 via Ethernet using a web browser and login. (Default password is omnia ) 4. Navigate to the Configuration menu and in the Software Bank Selection and Update section, click on the word Update inside the gray button. (it will become underlined when the mouse is properly positioned over it) 5. Read the confirmation text and click the Continue button to confirm that you want to continue the update process. Note that on-air audio will not be interrupted during this upload phase of the update. 6. Click the Browse button and find the v1.2 update file (.oup) that you downloaded from the Omnia website. Highlight it, click Open and it should appear in the Update file: box. Click the Update button to begin. *****IMPORTANT: Do not disturb or remove power from the Omnia until the update is complete. Any power interruption will result in a corrupted upload and the Omnia may have to be sent in for repair. 7. Click on the link: Click here to monitor the progress of the update. You will need to manually move the scroll bar on the right-hand edge of the update monitor box down periodically (you can also use the mouse wheel) to see all of the text. When you see the following message at the bottom, the upload of the file is complete: Update successful. [stderr test] Continued on next page>

2 If you do not see this, contact Omnia Support for assistance. 8. Click the Select New Software (Configuration Page). link at the bottom of the page. (Or the Configuration button at the top). In the Software Bank Selection and Update: section, you should now see Version 1.2 loaded into the currently inactive software bank. At this point, your Omnia.11 is still running the previous version as you can see next to Running Software: 9. To select and activate the new version, click the radio button for the bank where the new version is located and then click the Apply button. (Be sure not click the Update button again instead!) You will now see this message: Software bank 1 selected. The newly selected software will be active after reboot. To use the new meters and remote control applet, your web browser's Java(TM) cache must be flushed. Typically, this requires shutting down the browser and restarting it. At this point, close your browser. 10. Now remove power from the Omnia.11 and unplug the Ethernet network cable as well. Note that this will take you off the air for several minutes! So be sure you have a backup processor online or are prepared to be off for the next few minutes. 11. Ensure that the Ethernet network cable is unplugged, wait 15 seconds and then re-apply power. 12. After the Omnia logo screen appears, you will see text messages on the screen as the unit boots and is configured to run the new software for the first time. Please note that the time required to boot this time only will be longer than a normal boot up. After about 1:10, you should see the message Updating I/O Board This will take a few minutes. The screen will remain like this for about the next 2 minutes and 15 seconds. This is normal and the update is not stuck! At about the 3:30 mark, you should see the message Done with Update...Rebooting The unit will now reboot and the normal touch screen interface will appear. Note that there will not be audio present at this point. This is normal! 13. Touch the Input or Output icon button, and then the I/O Config tab. Touch the padlock icon at the upper-left of the list to unlock it and then load your saved I/O configuration from the list. If you had not saved an I/O configuration, load default 14. Touch any of the processing icon buttons, and then the Preset tab. Touch the padlock icon at the upperleft of the list to unlock it and then load a processing preset. Audio should now appear and slowly return to normal after a few seconds. The update procedure is completed. We strongly suggest also updating the other software bank at this time so that both software banks can be ready for future updates. The next section contains the version 1.2 manual addendum so be sure to read-on for information about the new features and bug fixes in this update!

3 Omnia.11 Version 1.2 Manual Addendum (Applicable to Software v1.2, July 2012) Software version 1.2 adds several new features and their associated new controls to the Omnia.11. It includes new features that actual Omnia.11 users felt were the most important to be included in this release. There are more free updates to come! Each to include additional features that you are suggesting. The sky s the limit! Please feel free to suggest any additional feature you would like to see in an upcoming release and we ll pass your suggestion on to the development team. Feel confident that your Omnia.11 s feature list will continue to grow in the upcoming months, ensuring that your unit will remain state of the art for many years to come. Here s what s new since v1.1: Improved: 6-Band Limiter algorithm and Auto Sense response for even lower IM distortion and smoother voice. Improved: Deep Bass enhancement. NEW: Bass Thunder control added in the Advanced tab of the ENH menu. Several new presets that take full advantage of the above improvements. These presets have a v2 suffix in their names. NEW: Software-based Reboot capability added to both the front panel Setup / System menu and in the Configuration page of the remote. NEW: Import filters for importing v1.03 and v1.1 presets have been added to the File Transfer screen of the remote. Improved: DJ Limiter output sounds much closer to the FM output now. NEW: Added confidence I/O meters to the front panel lock screen. Improved: HD lookahead limiter for smoother sound at higher drive levels. Improved: Stereo Enhancer metering. Bug Fixes: FIXED: Front panel would still sometimes not wake-up from screensaver mode on some units, requiring a reboot. FIXED: Many HD control settings were not being saved with the presets. FIXED: FP preset and I/O Config lists wouldn't update after uploading files via the web interface.

4 Bass Thunder There is one new control in the Advanced tab of the Wide Band / ENH menu. The new Bass Thunder control activates a new sub-harmonic bass enhancement effect. Unlike other attempts at this that use simple frequency dividers that provide phony sounding one note bass, the sub-harmonic enhancement here is locked to the original bass musically, in both frequency and level. The Bass Thunder control sets mix level of the created sub-harmonic bass. At a setting of -12.0, the minimum setting, the effect is hardly noticeable. We suggest starting at a setting of about -6.0 where the effect is mixed-in at about 6dB below the original bass. Note: When using the Bass Thunder effect, we suggest setting the high-pass Filter Freq setting in the Wide Band / Advanced tab to 30 Hz. With lower filter settings, sub-sonics in the program material can cause a kind of fluttering distortion on vocals and other program material in the presence range. Stereo Enhancer Metering Improvements The Stereo enhancer metering has been improved. With no audio or with mono audio present, the Stereo Enhance meter will indicate steadily at the approximate Stereo Enh control setting. In the example below, the control setting is set to 6.0 and the meter indicates 60%. In this mode there is no stereo enhancement taking place. Once stereo program material is detected, the meter will dynamically indicate the amount of enhancement between 0% and the level of the control setting. If only one channel has audio or if material with exaggerated separation is playing (such as the early Beatles stereo recordings) you should see the meter reading close to 0% since the enhancer is designed not to over-enhance this material and prevent too much L-R modulation which can cause increased multipath and loss of loudness.

5 Import Presets (Remote Only) New to the File Transfer screen in the remote are 2 Import Presets sections. Due to the new algorithm improvements, especially the improvements in bass enhancement, presets created in version 1.03 especially (less so for presets created in v1.1) can sound different in v1.2 when directly loaded. To remedy this and preserve your hard work, you can now import these presets through special filters that will automatically adjust the necessary control settings to make them sound the same as they did in the version they were created on. To be more specific, imported v1.03 presets will sound very close to the original. Imported v1.1 presets will also sound very close to the original but with improved bass definition. To import a preset, be sure you know which version the preset was created on, version 1.03 or version 1.1. If you are planning to import a v1.1 preset, try it as-is first because most v1.1 presets will play just fine in v1.2 and automatically include greater bass definition. Make sure the preset to be imported has been saved to your computer. Delete the preset from the Omnia.11 using the normal Preset tab from the front panel or the remote. Click the Browse button in the Import Presets section as appropriate for the version the preset was created on, select it from the file dialog that opens and click the Open button. Click the import button and the preset will be converted and the added to the preset list. That s all there is to it. Select the preset and enjoy!
