3 1.0 - Quick Setup Guide This topic guides the user through a typical setup process. Some of the information in this topic is explained in greater detail in other topics of the Users Help System. Required System Equipment: The required WiFi Router and PC are customer supplied and are not included with the SensorWATCH Basic RH Kit. Refer to topic SensorWATCH Hardware Components for detailed information. WiFi Router PC or Lap Top WiFi Instrument(s) WiFi Instrument USB Cable & Charger (Customer Supplied) (Customer Supplied) (Included in Kit) (Included in Kit) For best WiFi communication, it is recommended that the SensorWATCH components are placed no farther 30 Meters [100 feet] from the WiFi Router and in a clear line of sight. 4 Step 1 - Getting Started: 1) Connect the USB cable to the bottom of the WiFi Instrument and insert into the stand. 2) Charge the WiFi Instrument battery. The instrument should be powered at all times through the USB cable and charger. The instruments can use the battery for power but it is best to only rely on the battery for backup, should the power be lost. If constant power cannot be supplied to the instrument, it is important that it is charged and operating properly prior to use. 5 Step 2 - Installing the Wireless Setup Software: 1) Insert the CD in the drive and the Windows AutoPlay dialog box appears. Select Run AUTORUN.EXE from the list and the Wireless Setup software autorun menu appears 2) Select the Install Software command button to start the installation. If the autorun menu does not appear: 1) Insert the CD in the drive. 2) Select Run from the Start menu. 3) Select the Browse command button and navigate to the software CD. Double-click the Setup.exe file. 4) Select the OK command button to start the installation. 4) Follow the installation wizard instructions. 6 Step 3 - Starting the Wireless Setup Software: 1) After the software is installed, start the software program by double-clicking the SensorWATCH Wireless Setup icon from the desktop. Step 4 - Setup Instrument 1) Once the software window is open, select the Set-Up Instrument button. 2) Using the USB cable, connect the WiFi instrument to the PC USB port. 7 If WiFi instrument communication is successfully established, the screen below appears. If communication fails, check the USB connectors are fully inserted to the WiFi Instrument and PC. 8 3) Complete the Set-Up Instrument wizard. Refer to topic Set-up instrument for detailed information. 9 Step 5 - Power & Locate WiFi Instruments 1) Place the WiFi Instrument in the desired environment. 2) Connect the power supply to the WiFi Instrument USB cable. The WiFi Instrument stand is designed to be placed on a flat surface, hung or wall mounted. 3) Check the WiFi Instrument signal strength with the WiFi Router. Using the button on the WiFi Instrument, cycle through to the fourth screen by pressing 3 times. The first time the WiFi Instrument attempts to communicate to the WiFi Router the screen displays a --. 10 Step 6 - Viewing Instruments 1) Open the software window and select View Instruments. 2) Check the WiFi Instrument communication. SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0 Page 8
11 When the Wireless Setup has just been started, the screen displays an image indicating that the WiFi Instrument is not connected. Wait a minimum of 15 minutes for all of the WiFi Instruments to report. Once data is logged, the software displays the WiFi instrument description, signal strength, last logged value, time and when the WiFi instrument is expected to report data. To view the data, select the View Graph Button. Setup is now complete. Continuously recorded WiFi Instrument data is now sent to the SensorWATCH Wireless Setup. 12 2.0 - SensorWATCH Hardware Components This topic covers detailed information about the hardware components required to properly operate the SensorWATCH System. The required WiFi Router and PC are customer supplied and are not included with the SensorWATCH Basic RH Kit. Refer to topic SensorWATCH Hardware Components for detailed information. WiFi Router PC or Lap Top WiFi Instrument(s) WiFi Instrument USB Cable & Charger (Customer Supplied) (Customer Supplied) (Included in Kit) (Included in Kit) WiFi Router The WiFi Router is the hub of communication between the SensorWATCH WiFi Instruments and PC. All WiFi Instruments send data via the WiFi Router PC PC (Personal Computer)/Lap Top Computer The PC is the central component that records and stores WiFi Instrument data. 13 2.3 - SensorWATCH WiFi Instruments (WI1-L & M) These WiFi instruments have two channels that measure relative humidity and temperature of the environment in which they are located. They transmit their data to the PC via the WiFi Router. Wi1-L (Low: 0%-20% RH) Wi1-M (Medium: 20%-80% RH) Page 11 SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0
14 Features 1) Humidity Display: The current humidity value. 2) Temperature Display: The current temperature value. 3) WiFi Signal Icon: Solid when connected and signal strength above 0 otherwise flashing when connection is not established and OFF if it is not connected to a PC. 4) Stand Mounting Clip: Secures the WiFi Instruments to the Instrument Stand. 5) Instrument Stand: Designed to be placed on a flat surface, hung or wall mounted. 6) Max/Min Icon: Displayed when viewing the Minimum & Maximum recorded values since last reset screen. If both flashing this indicates if it is above the operating temperature of 40 C (104 F) and being charged. 7) Battery Icon: Appears to indicate the battery status. 8) Temperature Scale: Indicates what temperature scale the WiFi Instrument is configured. 9) WiFi Instrument Description: Designed to be a location to label which WiFi Instrument it is as displayed in the View Sensors List. 10) Screen Cycle Button: Cycles through the four different LCD screens (Normal, Max, Min & RSSI). 11) USB Port: For battery charging and configuration. 15 Instrument LCD Screens The Instrument has four different screens that can be cycled through using the button on the sensor. 1) Normal Display o Current Humidity o Current Temperature & Temperature Scale o WiFi Signal Icon o Battery Icon No Icon = Fully charged or not connected to power source Battery Icon = If battery is low and charging Battery Icon (Low) = If battery is less than 20% 2) Maximum Recorded Values Since Last Reset. 17 To reset the Maximum and Minimum Values on the instrument simply cycle the button to the one you wish to reset and hold down the button for 3 seconds. The new value will be the temperature at the time of reset. 4) Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). This screen is only visible when the sensor is connected to the WiFi network and PC. o Solid if signal strength >0 otherwise flashing. 18 Restart and Reset Instrument The WiFi Instrument can be restarted by holding the button for 10 seconds. Release the button when LOW is flashing in the top right hand corner of the display. The WiFi Instrument will retain all settings but will lose any data that has not been transferred to the PC. A factory reset can be performed by holding the button for 20 seconds until the symbol below appears on screen. Doing this will return the WiFi instrument to the factory state deleting all settings and clearing all previously recorded data. SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0 Page 16
19 2.4 - WiFi Instrument USB Cable & Battery Charger The USB Cable and Charger are used to connect the WiFi Instruments to a power source to provide a continuous supply or to connect a WiFi Instrument to the PC to change the setup. Features USB Cable Battery Charger USB Cable: 1) Micro B USB Plug: Connection to WiFi Instruments. 2) Series A USB Plug: Connection to the Battery Charger or PC during WiFi Instrument setup. 20 Powering the Instrument The instrument should be powered at all times through the USB cable and charger. The instruments can use the battery for power but it is best to only rely on the battery for backup, should the power be lost. If constant power cannot be supplied to the instrument, it is important that it is charged and operating properly prior to use. A completely discharged battery takes at least 24 hours to be fully charged. Good news If the PC is turned off or loses power: No data will be lost, the WiFi Instruments have an on-board memory. When you restart the PC the WiFi Instrument will wake up and reconnect usually within 15 minutes. Once the WiFi Instruments have reconnected, all stored data in their back-up memory will be transferred. Battery Limitations If the WiFi Instrument battery is exposed to environments above the temperature of 40 C (104 F), it cannot be charged until it is under this temperature limit. This limit is imposed to prevent damage. If this occurs both the Min/Max indicators flash on the LCD screen. Once the WiFi Instrument is under the temperature limit, the power source must be disconnected and reconnected to reset for charging. 21 3.0 - SensorWATCH-Wireless Setup Software SensorWATCH Wireless Setup Interface The SensorWATCH Wireless Setup software manages all the WiFi Instruments via the WiFi Network, gathering the data as each WiFi Instrument sends it. 22 3.1 - Software Installation Autorun: 1) Insert the CD in the drive and the Windows AutoPlay dialog box appears. 23 3.2 - Wireless Setup Features 1) Set-Up Instrument: Introduces WiFi Instruments to the SensorWATCH RH System. 2) View Instruments: A list or table view of the WiFi Instruments introduced to the SensorWATCH RH System. 3) View Previously Saved Data: Recalls manually saved data files. 24 3.3 - Set-up instrument Adding an instrument to the SensorWATCH System: 1) Open the SensorWATCH Wireless Setup Software. 2) Once the software window is open, select the Set-Up Instrument button. 3) Using the USB cable, connect the new WiFi instrument to the computer USB port. 25 If WiFi instrument communication is successfully established, the screen below appears. If communication fails, check the USB connectors are fully inserted to the WiFi Instrument and PC. The software automatically tries to connect again. Scanning: 4) When the message scanning appears the instrument is listening for routers that are currently in range. Once scanning has completed, a list of available routers are displayed. If the list is blank make sure the WiFi Router is powered and press the Refresh Connections button on the top right. 5) Select the WiFi Router from the list, enter the Password and press the Connect button. 26 6) Once the WiFi Router and WiFi instrument have successfully connected press the Next button. If the WiFi instrument fails to connect to the WiFi Router, the screen below appears. Follow the on screen instructions and check the four points displayed below. o Check the password o Click on the software refresh button o Re-orientate the position of your WiFi instrument o Ensure the router is turned on and within range of the WiFi instrument SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0 Page 24
27 7) Enter a name for the WiFi instrument and select the temperature scale. When entering the WiFi Instrument name, use alpha numeric characters ONLY including NO SPACES. Page 25 SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0
28 8) You can set an alarm to be triggered once a sensor exceeds a high or low temperature and/or humidity. SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0 Page 26
29 Low / High Alarms: You can set an alarm to be triggered once a sensor exceeds a high or low temperature/humidity. If you try to set the low alarm higher than the high alarm (and vice versa) you will get an error message Alarm Hold: This will hold the sensor in it's alarm state even once the temperature has returned to an acceptable range. For example: if the High Alarm is set to 42 C and the sensor rises to 46 C it will trigger an alarm. If the sensor drops down to 41 C and Alarm Hold is switched on, the sensor will remain in an alarmed state. If Alarm Hold is switched off the sensor will revert back to its normal state and the only way to check missed alarms will be by reviewing the graph or table Page 27 SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0

33 Viewing the backup data Graphs 1) To view a graph stored in the SensorWATCH Wireless Setup software, select the WiFi instrument that you wish to see in greater detail. 2) Select the View Graph icon located at the bottom of the screen. 34 3) List of recorded sessions. Select a row to view the graph for this time period. The arrows to the left and right of the time range allow the user to scroll through the years. Arrows above and below allow the user to select a specific time period within the current year to view desired sessions. 4) If necessary, drag the date sliders to view sessions within a date range. 35 Saving Data for backup Data Storage System (Automatic): The SensorWATCH Wireless Setup software gathers data into sessions. This data resides on the computer. Data will only be lost if an instrument is deleted or if the user selects Delete Readings. Only use these options if you do not want data to remain on the system. 36 Backup Saving Method (Manual): If the user wishes to capture a particular event and save this information as a separate file backup, it can be done by opening the graph and selecting Save. The software asks for a file name; give the file a unique name. Saving and Zoom: Using zoom within a graph, the user can zoom in on an event and save this as a separate file. 38 Deleting an Instrument This process deletes the instrument from the SensorWATCH Wireless Setup software including all data sessions. (sessions are detailed more in SensorWATCH-Wireless Setup Software>Viewing Instruments>Saving Data for backup). This process will NOT delete any files that have been manually saved. 1) Select an instrument from a view and right click. 2) From the options select Delete Instrument(s). 41 4.0 - Service and Troubleshooting This section covers general service and troubleshooting information for the SensorWATCH RH System hardware and software. When troubleshooting the system, it is recommended to begin with the WiFi Router then PC and lastly the WiFi Instruments WiFi Router The router is not performing as it should If your WiFi Router is not performing properly, this could be happening for a number of reasons: Confirm the WiFi Router is connected to a power source. Check the network cable connection. Contact your company IT Support to determine the LAN (Local Area Network) or internet connection is active. Position the antennas on WiFi Router for optimal performance per the manufacturer recommendations. Page 39 SensorWATCH Basic RH - Wireless Setup Users Help Guide1.1.0
42 4.2 - PC (Personal Computer)/Lap Top Instrument Status remains RED after initial 15 minutes for it to report The first time the PC attempts record WiFi Instrument data, the screen displays an image indicating that the WiFi Instrument is not reporting. Wait a minimum of 15 minutes for all of the WiFi Instruments to report. If it remains RED attempt the following: Confirm the WiFi Instrument is connected to the power charger and the power charger is connected to the AC outlet. Confirm that is connected to the PC of the same Subnet. Re-run WiFi Instrument setup with the Wireless Setup as described in topic Set-up instrument. 43 4.3 - WiFi Instruments (Wi1-L & Wi1-M) The instrument battery symbol displays "Low" The instrument should be powered through the USB cable and charger. A completely discharged battery takes a minimum of 24 hours to be fully charged. Check the USB connection at the instrument and power supply. The WiFi instrument is not reporting If the software displays an image indicating that the WiFi Instrument is not reporting: Make sure the WiFi Instruments are placed no farther 30 Meters [100 feet] from the WiFi Router and in a clear line of sight. Confirm the WiFi Instruments are configured to communicate with the WiFi Router.
