Several connector suppliers including Hirose submitted new connector designs to the USB meeting upon request from mobile phone manufacturers in October Hirose s proposal was adopted by vote, and we have been taking the initiative to standardize the micro USB connector specifications, of which completion was announced by USB Implementers Forum Inc. in January 2007.

Improved Micro-USB Optimum size suitable for mobile terminals Mini-USB connector is easily disconnected in handsfree application due to its low retention force. Dimensions are controlled only by each connector supplier. LOW intermateablity among different suppliers. Increased performance in some mechanical and electrical characteristics Dimensions are measured by supplier and authorized lab to be certified. HIGH intermateablity among different suppliers. Equal 480 Mbps transmission characteristics to Mini-USB s.
