3 PREPARATION FOR USE POWER SOURCE This system is designed to operate on 230V AC 50Hz house current only. Connecting this system to any other power source may cause damage to the system and such damage is not covered by your warranty. Main plug is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable. Ficha Tomada CA NOTE: The system has an AC plug and will only fit into matching AC outlets. This is a safety feature to reduce the possibility of electric shock. If the plug will not fit in your AC outlets, you should have the outlet changed by a qualified, licensed electrician. Do not use an adapter to make the plug fit into your outlet. This defeats the safety feature and could expose you to electric shock. CAUTION To reduce the risk of personal injury or product/property damage: This product is intended for indoor, non-industrial, non-commercial use;do not use the product outdoors. Do not wall or ceiling mount this product. Never let foreign matters or liquid fall into the unit. Do not place heavy objects on the unit. To ensure proper ventilation and proper operation, never cover or block the slots and opening with a cloth or other materials. Do not use the unit in temperatures higher than 40 degrees Celsius. Keep the unit away from an open flame such as fire, candle etc. Battery Handling and Usage: WARNING: Only adults should handle batteries. Do not allow a child to use this product unless the Battery Compartment Cover is securely attached to the Battery Compartment in accordance with all product usage instructions. Follow the battery manufacturer s safety and usage instructions. Keep batteries away from children and pets. Do not mix a new and a used battery or mix batteries of different chemistries or sizes. Insert the batteries observing the proper polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the battery compartment. Failure to properly align the battery polarity can cause personal injury and/or property damage. Remove spent or discharged batteries when not using the product for an extended period. Never throw batteries into a fire. Do not expose batteries to fire or other heat sources. Dispose or recycle spent/discharged batteries in compliance with all applicable laws. For detailed information, contact your local solid waste authority. PREPARATION FOR USE UNPACKING AND SET UP Carefully remove all the components from the display carton and verify that you have all the necessary components before you dispose of the display carton. Remove all packing materials from the individual components. Remove any descriptive labels that may be attached to the front panel of the main unit. Do not remove any labels or stickers on the back panels of the main unit or the speakers. Place all the components in the desired location. This system is designed to be used on level, stable, flat surface such as a table, desk, shelf, or stand, convenient to an AC outlet, out of direct sunlight, and away from sources of excess heat, dust, moisture, or vibration. 6 Make sure the AC power cord from this unit is properly connected to a 230V 50Hz household AC power outlet. REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY Make sure that the minimum distance around the whole unit for sufficient ventilation is 10cm. ) Setting the Clock and Date When the system is connected to the AC outlet for the first time, time 0: 00 & Date 1-01 will show on the display screen. The remote control requires one button-type "CR2025" 3-volt lithium battery, included. To extend the life of the original battery we have inserted a small clear plastic spacer tab between the lithium battery and the battery terminal. You must remove this battery spacer tab before you can use the remote control. To remove the tab, pull it in the direction of the arrow in the illustration as shown. 1) By STANDBY mode, press and hold MODE button on the top panel or the remote control. to enter Clock set mode. 24 H will show and flash on the display indicating that the clock is set for 24 hour format time. CR2025 3V + CR2025 3V + 2) Press TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control once to change the clock format to 12 hour format time. The display will change from 24H to 12H. When the operation of the remote control becomes intermittent or unsatisfactory, replace the battery with a new one. 1.) Slide out the battery holder from the remote control case. 2.) Place one 3V CR2025 battery in the battery holder, make sure the polarity (the + and - side of the battery) is correct. Wrong polarity may damage the unit and the remote control will not work. 3) Press the MODE button to confirm. The hour digit 0 will begin flashing. Press TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control to set the hour. Press MODE button to confirm. CAUTION: Danger of explosion if the battery is replaced incorrectly. Replace only with the same or equivalent type. 3.) Replace the battery holder back in the remote control. Notes: If the unit is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the battery to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage. Use only the specified size and type of the battery. 7 ) ALARM 1/ 2 SET You can only set your Alarm mode while in Standby mode. A. Set Alarm 1 1) While the unit is in STANDBY, press and hold ALARM 1 button on the top panel for 2 sec. and the hour digit 0 will begin flashing. Press TUNE/SKIP button to set the hour. Press ALARM 1 button to confirm. 2) Minute digit 00 will begin flashing, press TUNE/SKIP button to set the minute. Press ALARM 1 button to confirm. 4) While hour is confirmed, minute digit 00 will begin flashing. Press TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control to set the minute. Press MODE button to confirm. 5) While minute is set, the day of week MON will begin flashing. Press TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control to set the day. Press MODE button to confirm. 3) Date display bar will begin flashing, press TUNE/SKIP button to select the following alarm mode. 6) While the day is set, 1 in the Date box will begin flashing for month setting. Press TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control to set the month. Press MODE button to confirm. EVERYDAY MODE(ALL Days showing on display) the alarm will turn on all the seven days of the week; WEEKDAYS MODE (MON - FRI showing on display ) the alarm will only turn on Monday to Friday; 7) 01 in the Date box will begin flashing for day setting. Press TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control to set the day. Press MODE button to confirm. WEEKENDS MODE (SUN & SAT showing on display ) the alarm will only turn on Saturday and Sunday. Leap Year Adjustments At 12:00 Midnight on in leap year, the calendar display will change to Reset the day to as there is no in clock system. Press ALARM 1 button to confirm. UK-12 UK-11

Snooze Function 4) Wake up mode display will begin flashing, press TUNE/SKIP to select the below: After alarm is ON, you can press SNOOZE button on the top panel or remote control to temporarily deactivate the alarm which will activate again after 8 minutes lapse. SNOOZE function works endlessly by pressing SNOOZE button unless you press ALARM 1/ ALARM 2 buttons to stop this function. D. Sleep Function Press SLEEP button on the top panel or remote control, 120 (minutes) and sleep indication will ON. Press SLEEP button again to change and select from 120 to 90, 60, 30, 20, 10 or 5 (minutes). Select -- means no sleep function. ) Listen to Your ipod And Radio ipod Charging IMPORTANT! In order to prevent unwanted distortion during ipod playback, it is recommended that you set the EQ in your ipod to the Off position. Go to the Main Menu in your ipod and then select the Settings Menu, select the EQ Setting, and make sure that the EQ function is set to Off. ( Main Menu > Settings Menu > EQ Setting > Select Off ) Note : We have also included one flat adaptor with no opening at all. This serves as a dust cover that can be inserted in the docking station if no ipod will be connected to this unit for an extended period of time. Remove this dust cover before use. a: Wake up to AM Broadcasting - You have to pre - tune your desired radio channel in AM radio mode before setting the Wake up function. b: Wake up to FM Broadcasting - You have to pre - tune your desired radio channel in FM radio mode before setting the Wake up function. c: Wake up to ipod playback d: Wake up to Buzzer A. LISTEN TO ipod 1) Press STAND BY/ SOURCE button on the top panel or remote control to power on the unit. Press POWER/ SOURCE button again to select ipod function. B. Set Alarm 2 2) ipod wording will show on the right corner box of display, it indicates function is in ipod mode. Press and hold ALARM 2 button on the top panel for 2 sec and repeat the above 1), 2), 3) & 4) steps in Set Alarm 1 to set ALARM 2. Press ALARM 2 button to confirm. UK-14 UK-13
9 b) Manual Tuning Repeatedly press the TUNE/SKIP buttons on the top panel or remote control until the frequency of the desired station appears on the display. 3) Press PLAY/PAUSE button on top panel or remote control to control play and pause function. 4) Press TUNE/SKIP button on top panel or remote control to select previous or next song. 4) Preset FM stations in the tuner memory This unit includes a 20 stations preset memory. You can store up to 10FM stations and 10 AM stations in the tuner memory for immediate recall. The procedure for storing stations in memory is as follows: 5) Press the VOLUME + / VOLUME button on top panel or remote control to adjust the VOLUME level of this unit as desired. Control ipod menu by REMOTE CONTROL only a) Preset FM channel i) Follow 3)a)ii) under LISTENING TO FM RADIO to select the first station you wish to store and the FM frequency will show on the right corner box of the display. For example: FM MHz. ii) Press MODE button on the top panel or remote control, the preset channel number 01 begins flashing on the display iii) Press MEMORY UP / DOWN button on the top panel or remote control to select the preset channel (CH 01 to CH10) Press MODE button on the remote control, the ipod will go to the previous menu. Press IPOD UP/ IPOD DOWN button on the remote control to select up or down of the ipod menu; then press the ENTER button to enter selected menu. B. LISTEN TO FM RADIO NOTE: Unwind and extend FM antenna to its full length. It may be necessary to adjust the direction of this wire antenna until you find the best position of reception for your favorite FM stations. iv) Press MODE button on the top panel or remote control again to confirm. 1) Press STANDBY/SOURCE button on the top panel or remote control to power on the unit. Press STANDBY/ SOURCE button again to select FM function. v) Repeat step i) to iv) until you have memorized up to 10 stations Press MEMORY+/- button on the top panel or remote control to listen to preset FM channel CH01-CH10 at FM mode. Note: The saved preset stations will be lost if the AC Power is interrupted and the backup battery is not inserted. 2) FM frequency will show on the right corner box of the display, it indicates function is in FM Radio mode. 3) Tune to the desired frequency as follows: C. LISTEN TO AM RADIO 1) Press STANDBY/SOURCE button on the top panel or remote control to power on the unit. Press POWER/ SOURCE button again to select AM function. a) Automatic Tuning i) Press and hold TUNE/SKIP button on the top panel or remote control for 2 sec., auto tuning will start. ii) The tuner will search the frequency for the next strong station and stop on that station. Repeat this procedure until the tuner stops on your desired station. UK-16 UK-15
10 V )VIDEO OUT When ipod Video is plugged into this unit, the video can be viewed on an external display by connecting the VIDEO OUT jack to the desired video display ( video connection cable is not included). Remarks: Please make sure the TV Out is set to ON in the ipod Video Setting menu. Otherwise the video signal will not be able to show on the display. (For more details instruction, please check the ipod Video Instruction Manuel.) 2) AM frequency will show on the right corner box of the display, it indicates function is in AM Radio mode. 3) For presetting and listening to AM channel, please refer to LISTEN TO FM RAIDO step 3) & 4). D. ipod CHARGING If ipod is connected to the unit, ipod will charge automatically at either STANDBY Mode, ipod Mode, FM Mode or AUX Mode. VI) SUBWOOFER OUT Connect the Audio Output jacks of your active subwoofer to the SUBWOOFER OUT jack on the back panel of the unit. Then the unit will become a 2.1 system and the bass would be able to sound from the external active subwoofer. Note: The connection cables and active subwoofer are not included. VII) Display Brightness Control During STANDBY Mode or POWER ON Mode, Press SNOOZE button on top panel or remote control to select Dimmer or Brightness display. Note: For better AM reception, ipod will not charge during AM mode. IV) AUXILIARY IN Connect the Audio Output jacks of your auxiliary sound source (TV, VCR, DVD Player, Cassette Deck, Mini Disc player, etc., ) to the AUX IN jack on the rear panel of the unit. The auxiliary function will only activate when the aux in jack is fitted with connection cable Note: The connection cable is not included. 1) Press POWER/SOURCE button on the top panel or remote control to select Aux function. AUX will show on the right corner box of the display and indicates function enter AUX mode. 2) Turn your auxiliary source On and operate it as usual. The sound from the auxiliary source will be heard through the speakers of this system. 3) Adjust the VOLUME level controls of this system as your desired. UK-18 UK-17
11 CARE AND MAINTENANCE CARE OF THE CABINET If the cabinet becomes dusty only wipe it with a soft dry dust cloth. Do not use any wax, aerosol polish sprays, or abrasive cleaners on the cabinet. CAUTION Never allow any water or other liquids to get inside the unit while cleaning. When cleaning, make sure the unit is unplugged from the power source. RESETTING If the system does not respond, you may have experienced an electrostatic discharge (ESD) or a power surge that triggered the internal computer to shut down automatically. If this occurs,simply disconnect the main power need take out the backup batteries and connect the main power again after one minute. AC Power: TECHNICAL INFORMATION AC 230V ~ 50Hz Note: Disconnecting the power will unlock the internal computer after a power surge, it will also erase all of the settings. After turning On, you will need to reset the settings again. AM: khz FM: MHz DC Backup: Power Output : Power Consumption: 3V(2 x AA SIZE BATTERIES) 2X2.5 Watts RMS 13W Instructions on environment protection Do not dispose of this product in the usual household garbage at the end of its lifecycle; hand it over at a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic appliances. The symbol on the product, the instructions for use or the packing will inform about the methods for disposal. The materials are recyclable as mentioned in this marking. By recycling, material recycling or other forms of re-utilization of old appliances, you are making an important contribution to protect our environment. Please inquire at the community administration for the authorized disposal location. Back Up Function If the AC supply is interrupted, the clock display and Radio preset stations will go off and all settings will be cancelled. To back up the clock and preset stations, insert two AA size batteries ( not supplied ) in the battery compartment in the base of the unit. The back up battery is not for ipod operation. Make sure + and - polarity is correct. Wrong installation may damage the unit. Note : Always use alkaline type battery and always remove the battery if the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time.
