GETTING STARTED PREPARING FOR DOCKING STATION SETUP OVERVIEW The Multi-Dock is a network-enabled docking station for VIEVU cameras. The Multi-Dock is connected to an Ethernet cable and communicates with the network to automatically transfer video files to the VIEVU Solution or VERIPATROL. OBTAINING IP ADDRESS To set up the Multi-Dock, connect an Ethernet cable and power cable to the rear of the Multi- Dock. The Multi-Dock uses DHCP by default to acquire an IP address on a IPv4 network. You acquire an IP address with either an automatic or manual configuration. Version Page 5

OBTAIN IP ADDRESS WITH AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION Download the configuration file: MDN_settings.XML Edit the XML file to match your settings and move it to a FAT formatted USB flash drive. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the back of the Multi-Dock and wait up to 5 minutes. The XML file adds your configurations to the dock and provides a text file containing the IP Address assigned to the Multi-Dock. OBTAIN IP ADDRESS WITH MANUAL CONFIGURATION Connect a USB flash drive to the USB port at the rear of the Multi-Dock. A text file is created, containing the IP address assigned to the Multi-Dock. LOG IN Once you have the IP address, you can access the interface and log in to configure the dock. Open an internet browser and navigate to the IP address of the Multi-Dock. At the login screen, use the following default credentials: Login ID: admin Password: vievu123 The Multi-Dock Configuration page is displayed. Note: If your login fails, the credentials may have already been changed. In that case, please contact your administrator to help resolve the issue. Version Page 6

MAIN MENU CONFIGURATION OVERVIEW Adjust the various settings on the Configuration page to match the current VIEVU Solution or VERIPATROL configuration. The Configuration page also provides additional customermanageable settings. VIEVU SOFTWARE TO CONFIGURE THE MULTI-DOCK FOR VIEVU SOLUTION: From the Start menu and in the VIEVU Software drop-down box, select VIEVU Solution. In the Account Name field, enter your Account Name. This is the first part of your assigned VIEVU Solution website. For example, (where XYZDept is the Account Name) In the Access Token field, enter your access token. You can find this information under Settings while logged into your VIEVU Solution website. For more information, see the VIEVU Solution User Guide. Note: If the connection test fails, double check that the information has been entered correctly and that traffic to and from the Multi-Dock is not blocked by a firewall. TO CONFIGURE THE MULTI-DOCK FOR VIEVU VERIPATROL: From the Start menu and in the VIEVU Software drop-down box, select VERIPATROL. Enter your VERIPATROL Server information in the fields under VERIPATROL Server. The default port is After entering the appropriate information, press Save. By default, each Multi- Dock has a unique hostname identifier. Note: The Hostname field populates with MAC Addresses automatically. The default hostname will use the following format: VIEVU-MDN-MAC Address. Press Save to apply the changes. Note: The Multi-Dock requests a system restart whenever the hostname is changed. PROXY SERVER If a proxy server is required, select the Enable Proxy Server check box. With the check box selected, fields are displayed for Hostname, User Name, Password, and Port. Enter the necessary information to use the proxy server. Version Page 8

Press Save to apply the changes. IP ADDRESS To use a static IP address instead of a DHCP-assigned address, select Static IP Address. When Static IP Address is selected, additional fields are displayed for IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway. Enter the desired IP address or DNS name and network information. Press Save to apply the changes. The Multi-Dock will become available at the new address shortly. Note: When using a Static IP Address, DNS names are not compatible with the proxy, NTP or VERIPATROL address on the Multi-Dock. DNS SETTINGS To configure DNS to identify Multi-Docks on the network by DNS Name instead of by IP Address, select the check box in the DNS Settings field. Two more fields are added for Primary DNS and Secondary DNS. Version Page 9

Press Save to apply the changes. The Multi-Docks on the network will become available by DNS Name shortly. Note: When using a Static IP Address, DNS names are not compatible with the proxy, NTP or VERIPATROL address on the Multi-Dock. NTP SERVER SETTINGS To use an internet time server, ensure that the Multi-Dock is functionally accessing the internet. To use a local time server, select Use local time server and enter the local server address. Press Save to apply the changes. Note: The time information from the NTP server is applied to both the Multi-Dock and all cameras connected to this Multi-Dock. SSL CERTIFICATE SUPPORT Secure Sockets Layer and, more recently, Transport Layer Security are both frequently referred to as SSL. These are cryptographic protocols for providing communications security over a computer network. To ensure secure HTTPS connections, this release of software allows you to upload SSL certificates on the Multi-Dock Configuration page. Version Page 10

To set up secure HTTPS connections: In the SSL field at the lower-right side of the Multi-Dock Configuration page, click the HTTPS button. Click the Browse button and select the SSL certificate file to upload. MANAGING DOCKING STATIONS BY LOCATION A Location field has been added to help you manage docking stations. To simplify docking station management and updating, docking stations can be now assigned to certain Locations. When a new docking station is initially added to the network, the Location field in the Configuration page of the docking station website is empty. Version Page 11

In VIEVU Solution, you can update the Location for each docking station. After you set a location for a docking station, the selected location is displayed on the Configuration page of the docking station website. In VIEVU Solution, users can create new locations for docking stations or update existing ones. For details, refer to the VIEVU Solution User Guide. Version Page 12

NETWORK TOOLS OVERVIEW Send network commands to the Network Tools page to diagnose and troubleshoot networking issues and to configure SNMP monitoring. To open the Network Tools page: Select the Network Tools tab at the top of the screen. The Multi-Dock Tools page is displayed. The fields in the Multi-Dock Tools page are discussed in the following sections. TRACEROUTE In the Method field drop-down box, select Traceroute. Version Page 13

In the target field, supply a valid IP Address or DNS. Click Start to display the results in the output box below. Note: If Multi-Dock cannot get a response from the IP Address or DNS, a *** is displayed. PING In the Method field drop-down box, select Ping. In the target field supply a valid IP Address or DNS. Click Start to display the results in the output box below. Version Page 14

Note: By default, your VIEVU Solution website does not respond to ping requests, which can result in packet loss. SNMP MONITORING Click the SNMP toggle to enabled. In the Manager Host box, specify the IP/Hostname where traps are to be sent. In the Manager Community String field, input a string to send to the SNMP Manager with each trap. By default, this is set to public. Note: VIEVU Multi-Dock sends traps on UDP Port 162. In the next field, enter an Agent Community String to receive Multi-Dock SNMP variables. By default, this is set to public. Version Page 15

When finished, click Save to exit this window. Note: To ensure secure HTTPS connections, the latest release of software allows you to upload SSL certificates on the Configuration tab. FIRMWARE OVERVIEW The Firmware page shows the current firmware version of the Multi-Dock. You can update firmware through the browser interface when updates are available.. 21 OPERATION CONNECTING CAMERAS OVERVIEW The Multi-Dock supports up to 10 cameras at one time. Once the Multi-Dock has been configured and the cameras assigned to VIEVU Solution or VERIPATROL, the Multi-Dock will transfer videos from the connected cameras and update the cameras to the latest firmware version. For more information on assigning cameras, refer to the User Guide for the VIEVU software being used (VERIPATROL or VIEVU Solution). Additional support material is available at LE4/LE4MINI PORT INSERT Each port on the LE4 Multi-Dock accommodates either an LE4 or an LE4mini camera. To use the port for an LE4 camera, remove the insert by pressing the tab on the rear and pulling up. To use the port for an LE4mini, no change is needed. The LE3 Multi-Dock supports only LE3 cameras. CONNECTING CAMERAS TO MULTI-DOCK With some minor differences, all VIEVU cameras connect to the docking station in generally the same manner. The VIEVU LE4 camera has a rubber USB port cover that swivels out of the way in order to expose the connector and plug in the camera. The LE5 and LE5 LITE cameras have a sliding plastic door on the bottom to cover the USB port. Also, the LE5 camera uses one standard Version Page 21

USB connector to connect to the computer, while all the other VIEVU cameras have two standard USB connectors which must both be plugged into the computer. To connect an LE4 camera to the Multi-Dock: Loosen the rubber USB port cover on the camera and rotate it 90 to the rear of the camera. Align the camera with a port on the top of the Multi-Dock. Gently press down to insert the camera into the port. If you feel resistance, ensure the rubber USB cover is rotated to expose the connector, aligned with the slot at the rear of the port, and that the camera is oriented correctly. Version Page 22

WARNING: TO AVOID PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE CAMERA OR PORT, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE THE CAMERA INTO THE PORT. The lights on top of the camera communicate the camera s status.
