3 Important notes What you need to know Before using your new CDC-FM 08 remote control, please read through the following information carefully. Traffic safety As the driver of a motor vehicle, it is your responsibility to pay attention to the traffic situation at all times. Never use your car audio system in a way that could distract you. Please keep in mind that you travel a distance of 14 m per second at a speed of only 50 km/h. Should the traffic situation become particularly demanding, we advise you not to use the CDC-FM 08 remote control and the car radio. Installation If you would like to install the remote control yourself or add other audio components to existing ones, then please read the enclosed instructions on installation and connection carefully. CD changer operation The CDC-FM 08 remote control allows you to operate a Blaupunkt CD changer even if your car radio is not equipped for changer control. The output signal of the CD changer is converted into an antenna signal, which will then be played back by the car radio. The CDC-FM 08 remote control can be used for the following Blaupunkt CD changers: CDC-A 05 (with adapter cable ), CDC-A06, CDC-A 071 and CDC-A 072, CDC-A 08. Inserting CDs Insert one or several CDs into the magazine (printed surface facing up). Slide the magazine into the CD changer in the direction of the arrow. Please observe the operating instructions of the CD changer equipment. Close the door of the changer. Ejecting CDs Open the door of the CD changer and press the eject button. The CD magazine will eject. Switching on/off Switch on the CDC-FM 08 by briefly pressing the button. To switch it off, briefly press the OFF button. Switching on/off with the ignition: If the CDC-FM 08 has been connected as described in the instructions, it can also be turned on and off with the vehicle ignition. Starting CD playback Switch on the CDC-FM 08 by pressing or via the ignition of your vehicle. The CD programme will continue on from where it left off. Use your car stereo to select the station or frequency on which the modulator (tuner interface) signal is received. When using the equipment for the first time, proceed with chapter First operation. 12

4 Stopping CD playback Press during CD playback to interrupt the CD programme. The display will show STOP. Press again to continue playback on from where it left off. Selecting a CD When CD playback starts, the current CD and track numbers will light up in the display. <</>> CD selection >> CD up << CD down Press the rocker switch repeatedly to skip over several tracks. If you have reached the last CD, the number displayed will start again with the first disc detected in the magazine. Selecting a track / Track selection Track up, fast forward (audible). Track down, fast reverse (audible). To re-start the current track. Press the button repeatedly to skip several tracks. The number of the selected track will be displayed under TRACK. When you reach the end of the disc, the system will automatically change to the next or previous CD in the magazine. CD-Scan Use this function to scan the tracks of all discs inserted in the changer for 10 seconds each. To start the Scan function: Press SCAN briefly. SCN will appear in the upper right section of the display. All tracks on the current CD will be scanned one after the other in ascending order. When reaching the end of a disc the system will automatically switch to the first track of the following CD. To stop the Scan function and continue listening to the scanned track: Press SCAN briefly. Random play You can have the CDs or CD tracks played in random order. The following options are available: all tracks of a disc (RDM) or all discs (RDM CDC). To start RDM: Press RDM briefly. All tracks of the current CD will be played randomly. RDM will appear in the lower right section of the display. 5 To start RDM CDC: Press RDM twice briefly. A disc will be randomly selected from the magazine. After all CD tracks have been played back, the next CD will be chosen in random order. RDM will appear in the lower right section of the display, together with a CD changer symbol in the lower left corner. To stop RDM CDC: Press RDM briefly. Repeated play CDs and CD tracks can be played repeatedly. The following options are available: repetition of a track (RPT) or of the entire disc (RPT CDC). To start RPT: Press RPT. The current track will be repeated. RPT is displayed on the right. To stop RPT: Press RPT twice. To start RPT CDC: Press RPT twice. The current CD will be repeated. RPT is displayed on the right, together with a CD changer symbol in the lower left section of the display. To stop RPT CDC: Press RPT. 14

6 Troubleshooting guide Malfunction CD changer does not function properly. Cause Fuse blown. Bad ground connection of the changer. No magazine inserted, no CDs in the magazine, CDs inserted upside down. Remedy Replace fuse. Provide good ground connection. Insert discs and magazine correctly. CD is played back but no music audible. Bad modulator connection. Bad ground connection of the modulator. Modulator fuse blown. Car radio not tuned into the right frequency (88.7 MHz or 89.1 MHz). Moisture on the changer s pick-up unit. Take care that all components are properly connected. Provide good ground connection. Replace fuse. Adjust the correct frequency. Remove the magazine, leave changer door open for approx. 1 hour. No display on the remote control. Modulator fuse blown. Replace fuse. Playback permanently jumping while the vehicle is moving. Transport protection screws of the CD changer not removed. Adjustable screws for vertical/horizontal installation in wrong position. CD changer mounted at a wrong angle. Remove screws. Adjust correct position. Install changer at correct angle. Should the malfunction remain despite these troubleshooting recommendations, then please get in touch with an authorised Blaupunkt service centre. 18
