5 Chapter 1 Overview 1.1 Description MVA (Mobile Video Analysis) is the software installed on PC to analyze and handle the video files and information of Mobile DVR. MVA can obtain or load the video files in local mode or HDD mode and play back the video. MVA can also connect with mobile enforcement device to provide playback and other functions. With the functions of MVA, the status of the vehicles can be restored accurately to supply reliable proof for traffic accident. 1.2 System Requirements CPU: Pentium IV or above RAM: 1GB or above HDD: 10GB or above Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP+SP4 32-bit, Windows 7 32-bit / 64-bit Web Browser: IE6.0 or above 1.3 Installing and Uninstalling MVA Installing the MVA 1. Double-click the installation program MVA V Setup.exe to enter the Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Setup interface. Check the checkbox of I have read and accept the license terms, and click Install to start install the Microsoft.NET Framework 4. Follow the setup guide to install Microsoft.NET Framework 4 on your PC. Note: When installing the MVA software for the first time, you need to install the Microsoft.NET Framework 4. 4

6 Figure 1. 1 Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Installing 2. After installing Microsoft.NET Framework 4 properly, the MVA Setup Wizard will pop up. Click Next to start installing the MVA software. Figure 1. 2 Setup Wizard 3. Follow the setup guide to install the software on your PC. 4. When the installation progress is completed, click Finish to complete the installation. You can check checkbox to start running the software immediately. Figure 1. 3 Installation Completed 5

7 1.3.2 Uninstalling the MVA 1. Enter the Start Menu, and select All Programs MVA V Uninstall MVA to enter the following interface. Click Yes to start uninstalling the software. Figure 1. 4 Uninstall MVA 2. After uninstalling completely, the following interface will pop up. Click OK to finish the uninstallation. Figure 1. 5 Finish Uninstallation 1.4 Function Modules After running the MVA, the console of the software displays. Figure 1. 6 Console Interface The MVA software is composed of the following function modules: : The Playback module provides the function of loading and playback of video files. 6

8 The Enforcement Playback module provides the playback of video files and pictures of : the mobile enforcement device and making the evidence. The Log Search module provides the query, viewing and backup of the remote log files : or the log files stored in device HDD. The GPS Playback Module provides the playback of the GPS information and display of : the track of vehicles. The Local Configuration module provides the configuration of general parameters of the : software. You can check the network usage, CPU usage and time, in the upper-right corner of the interface. 7

9 Chapter 2 Basic Operation 2.1 Playback Purpose: On the Console interface, click to enter the Playback interface. The MVA software can play back the video files of the mobile device. Before you start: Before playing back the video files, you need to load the video files to the software. Two ways are available for loading the video files. Option 1: Loading from local disk. Load the video files stored in the PC on which the MVA is installed. Option 2: Loading via Backup Device. Load the video files stored in the HDD of the Mobile DVR via the Backup Device Loading Video Files Figure 2. 1 Playback Interface Option 1: Loading from local disk. Load the video files stored in the PC on which the MVA is installed. 1. Click to activate the following window. 8

10 Figure 2. 2 Loading Video Files from Local HDD 2. Click Select and select the folder that stores video file(s) from local disk. Note: The video file loaded should be named as: channel No._start time of the video file.mp4. Example: ch02_ mp4. 3. Click Load to load the video file(s) to the software. Figure 2. 3 Loaded Video Files Option 2: Loading via Backup Device. Load the video files stored in the HDD of the Mobile DVR via the Backup Device. 9

11 1. Refer to the following diagram to connect the Backup Device to your PC. Note: It is recommended to use USB 2.0 and above version. Figure 2. 4 Backup Device Connection 2. Click to load the video file(s) Playing Back Video Files Purpose: After loading the video files, you can play back, download and analyze the video files. Playback 1. Select a loaded video file and double-click it. The video file will be played back in the corresponding window in a few seconds. Note: If there are video file(s) of other camera(s) existing during this time, then synchronous playback starts. Figure 2. 5 Playback Window 2. Drag the timeline to play back the video file from the specified time point. 10

12 Notes: 1) You can click or to zoom out or zoom in the time line according to actual needs. 2) There may exist some deviation when positioning the time point. Figure 2. 6 Timeline 3. You can control the playback process by clicking the corresponding buttons on the playback Console interface. : Set the view scale as 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9. : Set the window division as 1*1, 2*2, 2*3, 3*3, 3*4, and 4*4. : Clip the video. Click it to start clipping the video, and click it again to stop clipping the video. And in the pop-up window, click Cut to confirm clipping the video. Refer to Chapter for setting the saving path for the clipped video. : Stop playback of all cameras. : Slow forward. : Fast forward. : Backward in single frame. : Forward in single frame. : Pause. : Start playback. : Capture pictures of the selected window. Refer to Chapter for setting the saving path for the captured pictures. : Audio control. Note: When multiple cameras are selecting for high-speed synchronous playback, it may occupy lots of resource of the PC and the not-in-sync video situations may occur. Figure 2. 7 Playback Control Panel Analyzing Driving Information Purpose: The driving information of the vehicle is collected in the HDD of the mobile device, including braking, turning left/right, reversing, etc. The software supports to analyze the driving information. 11

13 1. Click to show the Sensor-In panel. You can check the braking, turning left/right, reversing and other information. Note: The information should be supported by Sensor-In module of the mobile device. Figure 2. 8 Sensor-In Panel 2. Click again to show the acceleration information of tri-axial directions during driving. If the value exceeds the pre-defined limited value, the curve will be marked with red. Note: The information should be supported by G-Sensor module of the mobile device. Figure 2. 9 G-Sensor Panel Downloading the Video Files Purpose: You can download the video files from the HDD of mobile device via MVA, since the video files is different from the normal video files. Before you start: Please add the mobile device to the software, or connected the HDD to the PC on which the MVA is installed via Backup Device. Click to download the video files and you can select to download by file or by time. Download by File 1. Set the start time and stop time, and select the camera(s) you want to download video files. 2. Click Find to search the matched video files. 3. Check the checkbox to select the video file(s), or you can check the checkbox of Select All to select all the matched files. The total size of selected files will be shown in Total Files Size. 4. Click Start to download the selected video file(s). Please refer to Chapter for setting the saving path for the downloaded files. 12

14 Figure Download by File Download by Time 1. Set the start time and stop time, and select the camera(s) you want to download video files. Note: The time range should be no more than one day. 2. Click Find to search the matched video files and you can check the total size of the searched files in Total Files Size. 3. Click Start to download the matched video file(s). You can check the download status in Download Status field. Please refer to Chapter for setting the saving path for the downloaded files. Figure Download by Time 13

15 2.2 Enforcement Playback Purpose: The following functions can be realized in the Enforcement playback interface: loading the video files of the mobile enforcement device to the software; collecting the overtaking, reverse, u-turn and other driving information; check the historical location of the vehicle. On the Console interface, click to enter the Enforcement Playback interface Playing Back Video Files Figure Enforcement Playback Interface 1. Load the video files of the mobile enforcement device to the software. Two loading ways are available. Please refer to Chapter for detailed configuration. 2. The loaded video files will be listed on the right panel. Select and double-click a video file for playback. You can click the corresponding icons on the playback control panel to control the playback. For detailed description about the icons, please refer to Chapter In the timeline panel, the timeline will be marked with different colors to represent the corresponding recording types. You can drag the timeline to play back the video file from the specified time point. Figure video Files List 14

16 2.2.2 Pictures of License Plate Click Enforce Picture to show the pictures of license plate. You can double-click the item to view the large image. You can also set the map view to standard view, satellite view or local loading view. Figure Location Information 2.3 GPS Playback Purpose: Click on the Console interface to enter the GPS playback interface. You can play back the historical location of the mobile device. 15

17 1. Load the video files to the software. You can load video files stored on the added mobile device, or load video files via the Backup Device. Please refer to Chapter for detailed configuration. 2. Set the start time and stop time for GPS playback. 3. Click Playback to play back the historical location. You can also click Pause to pause the playback. Figure GPS Playback Interface 2.4 Log Search Purpose: The operation, alarm, exception and information of the device can be stored in log files. You can enter the Log Search interface to search and view the log information. Click to enter the Log Search interface. 1. Set the log major type and minor type, and configure the start time and stop time of the log files. 2. Load the device to the software. You can load the added mobile device, or load HDD via the Backup Device. Please refer to Chapter for detailed configuration. 3. Click Search to search the matched log files. 4. (Optional) You can click Export to save the log files to the local directory in.csv format. 16

18 Figure Log Search Interface 2.5 Local Configuration Purpose: You can configure the local saving path for record, clipped video and captured picture and other parameters. Click on the Console interface to enter the Local Configuration interface Enforcement Parameters Figure Local Configuration Interface Click Select to set the local saving path for the loaded enforcement data and enforcement pictures. 17

19 2.5.2 Playback Parameters Figure Enforcement Parameters Click Select to set the local saving path for the clipped video, captured pictures and downloaded video files during playback. You can also set the limited value for overspeed, check checkbox to enable audible warning when the vehicle runs faster than the configured value. To optimize the playback, you can also select the frame decoding type as Normal Decoding, Key Frame Decoding at 8x Speed and Above, or Key Frame Decoding at 16x Speed and Above. The MVA software also supports playing back videos with AES encryption. When you input the correct secret key in Secret Key field, the video encrypted by AES algorithm can be played back. Figure Playback Parameters Click Customize Alarm Channel button to select the alarm channels. Check the checkbox by clicking to select the channel, and you can set the channel name. 20 Appendix Glossary DVR: Acronym for Digital Video Recorder. A DVR is device that is able to accept video signals from analog cameras, compress the signal and store it on its hard drives. SDK: Acronym for Software Development Kit. We provide SDK for third-party developer. BMP: The standard image file format used to store bitmap digital images in the Windows OS. JPEG: It is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images. OSD: Acronym for On-screen Display. The camera name, time and other information can be displayed on the video of the camera. AVI: Acronym for Audio Video Interleaved. AVI files can contain both audio and video data in a file container that allows synchronous audio-with-video playback. H.264: H.264 is a block-oriented motion-compensation-based video compression standard developed by the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) together with the ISO/IEC JTC1 Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). 19
