2 Introduction The DA-8 is part of the E-cast Interactive Entertainment Network. This network delivers music, games, e- commerce, Internet access, and other entertainment content to venues all across America. The DA-8 Jukebox is the heart of the Network in the location. It controls the broadband access. The Broadband Internet connectivity allows the DA-8 to offer the patrons a more powerful entertainment experience with such features as Single Song Download. Over 130,000 songs updated weekly are available for play. Other Features not found in CD or other downloading Jukeboxes* include: 300 Album Capacity Bill acceptance of $1, $5, $10, $20 Credit Card acceptance Web based route management Single Song Download E-commerce capability Attract Mode with local and national advertising Fig. 1B - Digital Bubbler Model DA-8 * excludes other E-cast powered jukeboxes This Jukebox operates completely different from any CD machine and most other Downloading Jukeboxes. Please read the manual and make sure each step is understood before proceeding.! Do not apply AC power until the following instructions indicate you should. B - 2

3 Major Component Location Fig. 2B Major Components (Front View) 1. Computer Core This is the heart of the Downloading Jukebox. 2. Dual Digital Amplifier. This module contains the audio control center (pre-amp), cabinet power supply, and twin digital stereo power amplifiers. 3. Touchmonitor 4. Transformer. Powers the Amplifier 5. Wired Volume Control. This may be removed and located elsewhere in the location. 6. Crossover Board. Divides the audio power into different frequencies for the internal speakers. 7. Service Switch. This operates when the dome is opened to place the machine in service mode. 8. Calibrate button. This starts the touchscreen calibration program. 9. Uninterruptible Power Supply (U.P.S.). This is the main power distribution center for the jukebox. 10. Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Power Box. This provides power to the Router and Modem 11. 4 Installing The Hard Disc Drive (HDD) Hard Disc Drives are extremely sensitive to static and physical shock. Keep the drive protected from accidental falls and unnecessary handling. Fig. 4B - Core power switch & UPS power switch Be sure the power is off when installing the HDD. Before the jukebox may be used, the Hard Drive must be installed. This is supplied by E-cast after signing an operating agreement and providing a choice of music. In the manual package is a small envelope containing 4 Brass 6-32 x ¼ Thumbscrews. Use of adapters or removal of the grounding pin of the plug may create a potential shock hazard and will defeat the surge protection devices causing erratic operation or destruction of the electronic assemblies and void all warranties. The TouchMonitor is always powered up when the jukebox is plugged in. Be! careful when servicing. Unplug the Touchmonitor from the amplifier module before servicing. Fig. 3B - HDD on core Start four thumbscrews in the holes located in each edge of the drive. Connect the cables as shown in illustration 3B. The ribbon cable is connected such that the red stripe is on the side nearest the power connector. After connecting, dress the wiring and insert the drive into the slots on the core. Tighten the thumbscrews. Power Up and Touch Screen Calibration Power Up The system may be powered up after the drive is installed. NOTE: If the machine is being set up other than at the location it was programmed for, do NOT connect the Router at this time. B Connect the power cord to receptacle the back of the cabinet. 2. Plug the unit into a source of clean 117VAC capable of supplying at least 10 Amps. Power must remain on at all times. 3. The amplifier/cabinet power supply should power up. 4. Turn the U.P.S. power switch to the ON (1) position. 5. If there is a power switch on the computer core, turn it to the ON (1) position. The computer core will power up. After loading the Operating System, the core will initialize the amplifier and turn on the cabinet lights. Once all of the application software is loaded, the main screen will appear. This entire process takes a few minutes. During first time installation, the system may reboot several times as drivers are loaded. This is normal. Touchscreen Calibration The touchscreen must be calibrated to the monitor. The calibration data is stored in the HDD so, any time the drive is replaced, calibration must be performed. 1. Open the Dome or press and release the service switch. 2. Press the red Calibrate button under the service switch. Follow the instructions on the screen.

5 Preliminary Testing Be sure the display is in Normal operation as shown: Shut Down Do NOT remove power by simply unplugging the unit. Follow the Shut Down Procedure. To shut down the system for moving or service, follow these steps. Fig. 5B Normal Mode Insert a bill and see that the proper number of credits are given. Browse through the album covers by pressing the arrow keys below the four album covers. To view the songs on the album, touch the album and the song list will appear. Scroll up and down with the double arrows to view all of the songs on the album. 1. Enter the service mode by opening the dome or press and release the service switch. 2. Select System Settings and Diagnostics 3. Touch Invoke System Shutdown 4. When the screen says it is safe to shut down the computer, turn the main switch on the side of the U.P.S. to the OFF (0) position. 5. The jukebox may now be unplugged. Make a selection by touching the song number or title. The song will be selected as long as there are sufficient credits. Pressing the Search All Music button will bring up a virtual keyboard and search parameter buttons. You can narrow the search by music category as well as search by title or artist. Touching the bar containing the album will bring up the song list. In all screens there is a Help button that will bring up helpful hints to search for music. Do NOT connect the Router and Broadband (DSL, Cable Modem, etc.) until you are on location. The HDD and Router has been programmed for the ISP at the location. Connecting to another ISP will have unexpected results and may require programming changes. NOTE: The Single Song Download feature will not function until the machine is connected to the E-cast network. During the initial testing, check the albums loaded against the packing list with the HDD to make sure the music ordered is present. B - 5
