1 Digital Vision Network DVN 5000 Rackmount Series Product Bulletin Introduction The Digital Vision Network (DVN) is a suite of digital recording hardware and software products designed to provide high performance detection and tracking capabilities for simple to complex video surveillance needs. The DVN 5000 Rackmount Series comprises three different models: DVN 5000 Real-Time, DVN 5000X Real-Time (for network cameras), and DVN 5000 Multiplexed. These models offer various levels of video and audio recording and transmission for both large and small installations. All DVN 5000 Series machines can simultaneously record, play, view, transmit, and archive video and audio. They also contain full Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) control, pre-alarm and pre-motion recording, and camera darkening detection. Figure 1: DVN 5000 Rackmount Series These systems, based on true client/server architecture, offer exceptional levels of video and audio recording, transmission performance for up to 32 cameras, and are capable of processing up to 960/800 (National Television System Committee [NTSC]/Phase Alternating Line [PAL]) Frames per Second (FPS). Manage up to 32 IP/network cameras or up to 16 IP/network cameras and 16 analog cameras. Compatibility with AXIS network cameras, Panasonic network cameras, and Sony network cameras, including various compression codecs (MPEG4, H.264, and MJPEG) and megapixel cameras; for current information on supported network cameras, refer to the DVN 5000 Version 2.10 Software Release Notes (Part No ). Text input from third-party devices, such as Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and fuel pumps, can be captured together with recorded video for a complete record. The DVN 5000 provides real-time recording, playing, viewing, archiving, and transmitting, regardless of image content or system activity. The system offers fully integrated multi-vendor PTZ control with minimum latency. The DVN 5000 includes dynamic leading-edge motion detection, configurable for each input. Full remote control can be utilized via Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP). The DVN supports up to 32 simultaneous users. Control access to cameras, functions, and bandwidth per user. The DVN 5000 provides an integrated Web video/audio server for connections via Microsoft Internet Explorer Web browser. The added Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol helps prevent eavesdropping of login names and passwords between the LDAP server and the DVN SNMP clients can request status data from the DVN server, which can generate notifications when the value of an important status variable changes. The DVN 5000 can highlight items that are missing or left behind, such as a person s baggage. The Microsoft Windows XP embedded operating system includes Microsoft security updates to help protect against system threats such as viruses, worms, and spyware. The DVN 5000 supports various RAID Inc. and Promise external storage devices. See Supported External Storage Devices on page 10 for supported models. Expand sites easily by mixing newer DVNs with ones running earlier software versions (2.9 or 2.7), without the need to upgrade or downgrade existing servers. 4 DVN 5000 Real-Time This model provides the highest level of performance within the DVN 5000 Series and is ideal for large-scale installations such as casinos, airports, and military and government applications. The system can process up to 30/25 (NTSC/PAL) real-time FPS per camera input at 4CIF (for a total of 480/400 FPS from analog sources or 960/800 from network sources) with lip-synchronized stereo-audio. The DVN 5000 Real-Time Series also supports AXIS, Panasonic, and Sony network cameras. Note: 960/800 FPS is supported only on DVN 5000 Rackmount models that support 32 channels. Up to 480/400 FPS is supported on 16-channel models. 6 DVN 5000X Real-Time (for Network Cameras only) This model provides a high level of performance within the DVN 5000 Series and is ideal for large-scale installations such as casinos, airports, and military and government applications. The DVN 5000X Real-Time Series is designed for use with AXIS, Panasonic, and Sony network cameras and DVN 100-NET network encoders, as there is no onboard video compression. The system can process up to 480/400 (16 channel) and 960/800 (32 channel) real-time FPS (NTSC/PAL) per camera input. The system supports up to 32 cameras. The DVN 5000X models have no BNC connectors on the back. The DVN 5000 Multiplexed Series is capable of processing 480/400 FPS at CIF, 240/200 at 2CIF, 120/100 at 4CIF (NTSC/PAL) from up to 16 camera inputs (960/800 FPS at CIF, 480/400 FPS at 2CIF, and 240/200 FPS at 4CIF from 32 network sources). DVN 5000 Series and P2000 Software Integration Compatibility Chart Johnson Controls provides integration between the P2000 Security Management System (SMS) and DVN 5000 Series systems via the P2000 Digital Video Recording (DVR) Integration (Audio/Video [AV]) Option. If integrating a DVN 5000 with a P2000 SMS, see Table 9 to identify which software versions are compatible between the two products. Note: DVN 5000 Series servers and clients running software version 2.10 are backwards compatible with DVN products running software version 2.9 or 2.7.
