CHAPTER 1. GETTING STARTED

CHAPTER 1. GETTING STARTED 1. COMPOSITION OF THIS BOOK The N-SD2000 software decoder is designed to allow a wide variety of settings to be made according to the many different ways in which TOA camera systems are used. In this manual we will cover the following content pertaining to the N-SD2000. General Description Preparation Basic Use Settings Operation 2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The N-SD2000 Software Decoder is designed for use in a Windows PC. It permits simultaneous monitoring of up to four from live images of TOA network color cameras, network combination dome cameras and network video transmitters or from recorded images of network digital recorders, which are all connected to LAN Audio signals can also be transmitted and received. 1-2

CHAPTER 1. GETTING STARTED 3. DEVICE NAMES This book describes the names and model numbers of video network devices as follows: Network Color Camera Network Combination Dome Camera Network Video Recorder Software Decoder Network Video Transmitter, Transmitter Network Video Receiver, Receiver : N-CC2360 : N-CC2564 : N-DR2000 : N-SD2000 (contained in the CD-ROM) : N-VT2010 : N-VR FEATURES The N-SD2000 software runs under the Microsoft Windows operating system, allowing camera images to be monitored on a PC without using a receiver. It also allows system administration and control actions to be performed on TOA Network camera system connected over the network. Live images from the N-VT2010 transmitter, N-CC2360 color camera and N-CC2564 combination dome camera can be monitored in single-segment or 4-segment split-screen displays using streamed MPEG-4 data. Images recorded on the network video recorder can be searched or played back. Recorded and live images can be viewed simultaneously. 5. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS MPEG-4 visual patent portfolio license THIS PRODUCT IS LICENSED UNDER THE MPEG-4 VISUAL PATENT PORTFOLIO LICENSE FOR THE PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE OF A CONSUMER FOR (1) ENCODING VIDEO IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MPEG-4 VISUAL STANDARD ( MPEG-4 VIDEO )AND/OR (2) DECODING MPEG-4 VIDEO THAT WAS ENCODED BY A CONSUMER ENGAGED IN A PERSONAL AND NON- COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY AND/OR WAS OBTAINED FROM A VIDEO PROVIDER LICENSE BY MPEG LA TO PROVIDE MPEG-4 VIDEO. NO LICENSE IS GRANTED OR SHALL BE IMPLIED FOR ANY OTHER USE. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDING THAT RELATING TO PROMOTIONAL, INTERNAL AND COMMERCIAL USES AND LICENSING MAY BE OBTAINED FROM MPEG LA,LLC. SEE The multicast function The network must support multicasting in order to use this function. 1-3

CHAPTER 2. PREPARATIONS

CHAPTER 2. PREPARATIONS 1. PC OPERATING ENVIRONMENT For the software to function correctly, the following PC operating environment is needed: OS: Windows XP Professional CPU: Pentium 4 processor, 3 GHz or better Memory: At least 512 MB Display adapter: Compatible with DirectX 9.0a, Intel Chipset (Recommended) Sound controller: Needed only for using audio functions. (Must be compatible with Sound Blaster.) Network adapter: 100BASE-TX or better Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or later* 1 Monitor: 1,024 x 768 pixel resolution or better DirectX 9.0a or later (on included CD-ROM) Adobe Reader 7.0 or later (on included CD-ROM), used to display the instruction manual * 1 The Internet Explorer browser may be downloaded from the Microsoft website. Notes The N-SD2000 software decoder may not work correctly if other application software is running together. It is impossible to use multiple software decoders on a single PC. The software may not work correctly if a firewall is installed and operating. If installed from the network drive, firewall settings may prevent the software from being correctly installed. Before installing, be sure to disable any firewall protection, or perform installation from the local disk drive. Installing the software decoder, DirectX and Adobe Reader will require a minimum of 110 megabytes of free hard disk drive space. When a floating window in the software decoder is displayed (while only the software decoder is running on a PC), pressing the Alt and Tab keys simultaneously will cause the floating window to move behind the main window and be hidden. Pressing both the "Alt" and "Tab" keys again can bring the hidden window to the front, but the main window may get into the floating window. Using screen savers or power saving functions may cause images to display incorrectly. When using the N-SD2000 under multi-display environment, take care the following; Specify only a single display for running this application. Traveling between displays during operation may cause equipment malfunction. Use the digital zoom function while the image is frozen temporary. Failure to do so could cause equipment malfunction. 2-2

CHAPTER 2. PREPARATIONS 2. BEFORE INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE Configure the system and use the appropriate display adapter, network adapter, and sound controller Display Adapter To improve image quality, adjust the environment settings for the display adapter. Intel chipset is recommended. Use a display adapter with at least 1,024 x 768 pixel resolution and operating with 16-bit color gradation (65,536 colors). Other color resolutions are not supported. The software s performance will be strongly influenced by the type of display adapter Network Adapter The N-SD2000 software is an application to monitor video and camera information over a network. A network adapter (LAN adapter) is required to connect the monitoring PC to the network. The environment settings for the network adapter and TCP/IP protocol can be adjusted by selecting Control Panels Network Connections in the Windows operating system. The software automatically recognizes the network adapter. Note For more details about these settings, consult the instruction manual for the network adapter to be used Sound Controller The use of a sound controller allows the N-SD2000 software decoder to receive audio signals from a network video transmitter for playback or transmit audio signals to the video transmitter. It is recommended to use the Sound Blaster-compatible sound controller manufactured by Creative Labs, Inc. A dedicated driver may need to be installed depending on the type of sound controller. The software automatically recognizes the network adapter. Note: For more information on sound controller installation, consult the manufacturer s instruction manual. 2-3

CHAPTER 2. PREPARATIONS 3. INSTALLATION Install the N-SD2000 software on a PC. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the PC s optical drive.
