7 1.4 Installing the Quick Release Handlebar Mounting Bracket 1. Using #3 Allen Key, remove the 2 set screws from the mounting bracket. 2. Center the mounting bracket on either side of the handlebar stem with the tommyca logo facing forward. 3. Hold the clamps around the handlebar. 4. Replace and tighten the set screws. Notes: Depending on your handlebar s diameter, you may need to add the supplied inserts to insure a snug fit. To use the inserts, slide them over the handlebar and position them under the mounting bracket clamps. Handle bar diameter Insert 30-32mm No insert Thin insert Thick insert. Rotate the mount up or down as desired using the holding screws, (add a graphic that shows the holding screws) Do not over tighten set screws.
8 Chapter 2: Getting the Basics Chapter 2: Getting the Basics 2.1 Turning the Player On/Off There are 2 steps to turn the player on 1. Slide the Power Switch to the on position (full solid dot) and and hold the Start/Stop Button until the LCD lights up To turn the player off either 1. Press and hold the Start/Stop button until the player turns off 2. or Slide the Power Switch to the off position Note: On/Off main switch is used for shipment or long period that device is not in use (more then week). For regular use use only start/stop only. Recharging can be done when switch is in off. 2.2 Menu Controls Tommyca has four main menu and setup controls. To use the controls, press firmly on the desired function control button. Note: Controls are intentionally tight to help ensure rain proofing and should be pressed firmly to activate the function. Menu / Return has 2 functions, they are: To open the main menu screen, and to return to previous screen. While in menu mode short press on menu return/back to upper in level menu. Long press on menu will exit menu and return to play back. The OK control approves the highlighted menu option. Scrolls the menu options up. Scrolls the menu options down. Note: The company recommends that you do not use the Main Menu controls while riding.
9 2.3 Riding Controls Tommyca has several multi-function toggle controls positioned for easy access while riding. Left Side Controls Play / Pause - to toggle between the Play / Pause functions, quickly press and release the control. In FM and Aux mode short press on play/pause function as Mute/unmute. Start / Stop - To toggle between the Start / Stop functions, press and hold the control. Note: To Wake the player the power switch must be in the on position. Track / Presets Selector - Depending on the current mode, the selector moves through the stored files or preset FM frequencies. Press the control to move forward or backward through the Music files and FM Presets. Note: You must be in normal listening mode to use the Track/Presets selector. Right Side Controls The Mode Selector allows you to change between FM Radio and Music functions. 1. To move between the 2 functions, press and release the Mode selector control. 2. The current mode will be displayed in the LCD. Volume Control Press the control to adjust the volume.
10 Chapter 3: Hooking it up Chapter 3: Hooking it up 3.1 Charging the Battery Tommyca can be charged by either: 1. Connecting it to your computer s USB port with the supplied cable. a. The computer must be switched on to charge the device. b. The battery will charge automatically whenever the device is connected and the computer is on. 2. Connecting it directly to an electric wall outlet using the tommyca Universal USB Power Adaptor a. Only use the power adaptor supplied with the device. (TCS 3200 only) 1 2 Note: The battery icon will flash during charging. When the icon stops flashing the unit is fully charged. Fully charge the battery before using it the first time. A full charge takes approximately 5 hours. Using the player while charging may lengthen the charging time. CAUTION: Do not disassemble, crush, short-circuit or incinerate your battery as it may cause fire, injury, burns, or other hazards. As with all batteries, proper disposal is essential. Check with your local waste or recycling company to determine the disposal method for your area. Putting any battery directly in the trash harms the environment.
11 3.2 Connecting to your PC 1. Slide the switch to the on position. 2. Turn on your computer. 3. Connect the device to your computer using the supplied USB cable. 4. When properly connected the LCD will display the connecting message. Note: The device will be recognized as a removable disk. Use a high speed, USB port for optimal operation Loading Music File/Folder from your PC to tommyca 1. Select the file or folder in your computer 2. Drag and drop it to the device which appears as a removable disk. 3. If the file is being transferred successfully the file transferring icon will flash Deleting File/Folder from tommyca 1. After selecting the file/folder to delete, push the delete key or right click on the mouse and select Delete. 2. Click Yes in the Confirm File Delete popup window. 3.3 Connecting to an Auxiliary Device To use tommyca with an auxiliary device, such as a 3 rd party music player, 1. Connect it to the device through the AUX jack using a suitable cable connector. 2. When Aux cable is connected the Mode select automatically change to cyclic three mode selector Music,FM.Aux. When User remove the Aux cable than the Mode select will automatically return to 2 mode selection 3. Use the control to increase or reduce the volume. Note: When connected to the auxiliary device the next/previous controls will be disabled.
12 3.4 Connecting Earphones Tommyca is compatible with most plug-in earphones. To connect earphones: 1. Remove the protective rubber cap. 2. Connect earphones to the device. Note: To ensure continued rain resistance, ALWAYS replace the cap whenever you are not using the earphone or AUX jack The company recommends that you do not use headphones while riding. When Earphone is plugged in the speaker will be automatically shut off. When Earphone will be removed speaker will automatically start to play
13 Chapter 4: Setup Chapter 4: Setup 4.1 System Setup To access the system menus, press the Menu/Back control. Press the up arrow to select a parameter to modify, 1. Press the arrow to highlight the desired option Language 1. Press the or arrow to highlight the desired option. Note: The display will change to the chosen language as soon as you press Display 1. Press the or arrow to highlight the desired option. a. Brightness 1. Press the or arrow to make the display brighter or darker as indicated by the Brightness slider. b. Backlight lights is a power saving feature that automatically dims the LCD after the selected time. 1. Press the or arrow to select the desired time Sys Tool 1. Press the or arrow to highlight the desired option. a. Format Options: Quick Complete 1. Press the or arrow to select no or yes. b. Reset 1. Press the or arrow to select no or yes. C. System info 1. System Info displays Firmware version, free space and Total disk capacity. or to return to the previous screen.
14 Chapter 5: Listening Chapter 5: Listening 5.1 MP3 Listening To access the MP3 settings, 1. Press to go into the main menu screen 2. Use the or arrows and select MP3 3. Press Repeat Options: No Repeat Repeat One Repeat All Random All 1. Press the or arrow to highlight the desired option Equalizer Options: Default Normal Pop Rock Jazz Classic Bass 1. Press the or arrow to highlight the desired option. Note: Equalizer mode is not applicable when using the FM or Aux mode or when playing WMA files Normal Listening To return to normal listening from setup, 1. Press the control until you return to the Music display the Riding Mode Control to choose MP3 or FM 5.2 FM Radio Listening Tommyca has 2 FM listening options: manual preset To change between manual to preset: 1. Press to go into the menu screen 2. Use the or arrows to select FM 3. Press 4. Select manual or preset press 5. Press 3 times to return to normal listening, or one long press 6. Visually confirm mode choice
15 5.2.2 Setup Manual - Allows you to scroll through frequencies one at a time and preset your stations. To access manual setup: 1. Press to go into the main menu screen 2. Select FM, press 3. Select manual, press 4. Use or arrows to find the desired frequency To save the current station as a preset or switch to auto scan, 5. Press To save preset, 6. Select Save Preset, press. Save Preset automatically switches to the preset menus. Auto Scan automatically searches the FM band and sets up to 30 stations. To compile a preset FM playlist using Auto Scan: 1. Wait for the scan to complete and return to the first available frequency. 2. Use the or arrows and scroll through the presets. To delete a frequency from your FM playlist or return to Auto Scan, 3. Press 4. Press to return to normal listening mode (3 times) Preset scrolls through your preset frequencies and allows you to modify the preset list. 1. Use the or arrows and scroll through the presets. 3. Select delete or auto scan 4. Press Notes: While in setup the Riding Controls will be disabled. To enable the Riding Controls, return to normal listening mode The player starts in the last mode used. Changing the language means changing the language of the menu but not the display itself
16 Chapter 6: Taking it on the Road Chapter 6: Taking it on the Road 6.1 Attaching tommyca to the Quick Release mounting bracket To attach the unit to your bike, 1. Slide the Power Switch to the On position 2. Align the mounting holds over the mounting slots 3. Roll the unit up and away from you until the red locking clip snaps out 4. Verify the unit is locked in place before releasing it To remove the unit, 1. Hold the unit with one hand and press the red locking clip with the other 2. Remove the unit 6.2 Headlights Headlights can be used in either Blinking or Steady mode. To toggle between them, push the Headlight button. The selected mode will be displayed on the LCD. Note that in France user should not use the blinking mode.
17 Chapter 7: Safety Regulations Chapter 7: Safety Regulations Designed specially for cyclists, tommyca Riding Controls allow you to easily adjust listening options with minimal hand movement Important things to remember: 1. Never dismantle, repair or rebuild the player. 2. Do not drop or subject the unit to impact. 3. Do not immerse the unit in water. 4. Avoid using the menu buttons during heavy rain. All other buttons can work even under rain conditions. 5. If the device is not used for long periods of time, turn the Power Off. 6. Always backup files to a PC or other digital storage device to prevent data loss. 7. Do not use earphones while cycling. 8. Do not use earphones at high volume.

Check that the battery is charged No sound from speakers Check whether volume is set to «0» Make sure the player is not in pause mode Corrupted MP3 files may make a static noise and the sound may be cut off. Make sure that the music files are not corrupted. Characters in LCD are Check whether the right language has been corrupted selected Music file download fails Check whether USB cable is damaged and make sure it is connected properly.
