Press the centre key, then select Camera. To send the picture, press Send Send To Tip: To store or discard the picture, press Options and select Store Only. Tip: You can activate your phone s camera by pressing the Camera Key on the side of the phone. Point the camera lens at the photo subject. The lens is on the back of the phone when the phone is open. To take the picture, press the centre key. Tip: To see the current settings for Zoom, Lighting Conditions, Exposure and Style, scroll up or down using the navigation key. Scroll right or left to change a setting. Scroll to a name in your phonebook and press the centre key to select the name. Repeat to add other recipients. Press Send. Tip: To send your picture to someone who is not in your phonebook, press Options and select Enter Number. Enter the recipient s number and press Ok, then press Send.
2 Record a Video Press the centre key, then select Video Camera. To send your video in a message, first change the video length. Press Options and select Video Camera Setup. Point the camera lens at the video subject. The lens is on the back of the phone when the phone is open. To start recording, press the centre key. To stop recording press Stop. Note: The number of minutes remaining is an estimate. 5 Press Options. 6 To store your video, select Store Only. Press Back when you have finished. Scroll to Video Length. Scroll right until the length is set to MMS and press Back.
3 Play a Video Press the centre key, then select Multimedia Media Finder Scroll to the video name and press the centre key. Use the navigation keys to control the video: Pause/play - centre key Play previous video - left Play next video - right To stop the video press Back. Scroll to Videos and press the centre key. Scroll to the desired list of videos and press the centre key.
4 Make a Video Call This feature is network/ subscription dependent and may not be available in all areas. Contact your service provider for more details. If you call someone who has a G video phone you can see each other while you talk. If your phone is roaming on a non-g network video calls will not work. To end the call, press O. If you accept an incoming voice call during a video call, your phone will change the video call to a voice call. If you accept another incoming video call while on a video call, your phone will end the first video call. To make a video call, enter the desired phone number in the home screen and press d.
5 Play Music Your phone can play and store MP and AAC song files. You can use a removable memory card with your phone to store more songs. You can transfer songs from your computer using a wireless Bluetooth connection or a wired USB cable, or download songs from the web. Note: Your phone may not play MP files that have a bit rate higher than 8 kbps. If you try to download or play one of these files, your phone might show you an error or ask you to delete the file. Press the centre key, then select Multimedia Media Finder Music is highlighted. Press the centre key. To view a list of songs, press the centre key. Scroll to the desired song and press the centre key. 5 Use the navigation keys to control your music: Pause/play - centre key Stop - centre key, then Back Skip back - left Skip forward - right To change the volume press the volume keys on the side of the phone. 6 Play Music With The Flip Closed The lights on the flip cover are touch sensitive: Skip backwards press x Play/Pause press y Skip forwards press z To activate the MP player or resume music play while the flip is closed, press and hold the smart key on the left side of the phone until the MP player controls on the flip cover are lit. Music plays immediately.
6 Create My Playlist Personalise your music by creating your own playlists. Press the centre key, then select Multimedia Media Finder Scroll to Playlists and press the centre key. Then scroll to Create New Playlist and press the centre key. 6 Enter the name of the playlist and press Ok. Tip: A playlist name must be no more than characters. Music is highlighted. Press the centre key. Open a song list. 5 Scroll to the desired song and press the centre key to select it. Repeat to add more songs. When you have finished adding songs, press Done.
7 Pair (Link) My Headset If you are using a different headset than the Motorola H700 shown in this demo, refer to your headset s Quick Start Guide for instructions on how to put the headset into pairing mode. Press the centre key, then select Settings Connection Bluetooth Link Setup Power is highlighted. Scroll right to turn the power to On. Tip: To extend battery life, use this procedure to turn your phone s Bluetooth feature off when you are not using a headset. Now that you have turned on the Bluetooth feature, you must pair (link) the headset with your phone. After you have successfully paired your headset and phone for the first time, you do not need to repeat this pairing procedure. Press and hold the Call button on the headset until the light turns on and remains steadily lit. If the light is flashing or does not remain steadily lit, make sure the headset is fully charged and repeat this step. Immediately open the folding microphone. The light should remain steadily lit. Note: If you are not using the Motorola H700 headset, this step may not apply. 5 On your phone, press Back and select Add Audio Device. 6 Select the headset. Once you see the Connected message, your phone and headset are successfully paired and ready to use. When pairing is successful, the headset light changes from steadily lit to flashing and the Bluetooth icon appears in the top status bar.
8 Change My Ringtone Press the centre key, then select Open a Calls list. Settings Ring Styles Scroll to the desired ring tone and press the centre key. Scroll to Style Detail and press Change. Then scroll to Calls and press Change.
9 Create My Shortcut Keys You can create your own shortcut keys in the home screen by changing the features for the soft keys, the navigation key and the smart key. Press the centre key and select To change any of the shortcut keys in the home screen, scroll to the key you want to personalise and press Change. Scroll to the menu feature and press Select. Settings Personalise Home Screen is highlighted, press Select. Then select Home Keys. To hide the shortcut icons in the home screen, scroll to Icons. Scroll right to change the option to Hide. Press Back when you are finished.
10 Set My Wallpaper You can set a photo, picture or animation as your phone s wallpaper. The wallpaper appears as the background image on the home screen. To set a picture as your wallpaper, scroll to Picture and press Open. Press the centre key and select Settings Personalise Wallpaper Scroll to the picture list and press Open. 5 Scroll to the desired picture and press the centre key to set it. Tip: To preview the picture, press Options and select Preview. Press Back. Picture is highlighted, press the centre key.
11 Send a Text Message This feature is network/ subscription dependent and may not be available in all areas. Contact your service provider for more details. Press the centre key and select Messages. Create Message is highlighted, press the centre key. Then select New Message. Text Entry Tips To turn off predictive text, press Options and select Text Setup. Set Primary Text to TAP mode and Secondary Text to None. To change text entry mode, press # and see the symbols change in the top left hand corner of the screen: Ü or Ô - Primary Mode û or Õ - Secondary Mode à - Numeric Mode Ä - Symbolic Mode Text Entry Tips continued To change text case, press 0 and see the symbols change in the top left hand corner of the screen: á all capital letters Á no capital letters  next letter capital To delete text, move the cursor to the right of the character you want to delete and press D. 5 Enter your message and press Send To. Tip: To insert a text template, press Options and select Insert. Select Text Template followed by the message. 6 Scroll to a name in your phonebook and press the centre key to select the name. Repeat to add other recipients. Press Send. Tip: To send your message to someone who is not in your phonebook, press Options and select Enter Number. Enter the recipient s number and press Ok, then press Send.
12 Enter a Contact Press the centre key, then select Phonebook. First Name is highlighted. Press the centre key. Enter the name and press Ok. 6 To add more numbers, press Options and select Add Number. Note: You can have multiple numbers and addresses for the same person. Press Options and select Create New Phone Contact Note: If you select SIM Contact to add a contact to your SIM card, you can only store a name and number for that person. Continue to enter information in the other areas of the phonebook entry. 7 When you have finished adding your contact, press Done. 5 For the Number Type, scroll right to select the desired type. Repeat for Type and Address Type.
13 Edit a Contact Press the centre key, then select Phonebook. Scroll to the field you want to change and press the centre key. Make your changes, then press Ok. Highlight the contact and press Options, then select Edit Contact. Tip: To delete a phonebook entry, press Options and select Delete Contact. Tip: Use the D key on your phone s keypad to delete text. Place the cursor to the right of the text to be deleted and press D once. To delete an entire word or string of numbers, place the cursor to the right of the last letter or number, then press and hold D. When you have finished editing your contact, press Done.
14 Install and Remove Memory Card You can use a removable memory card with your phone to store and retrieve multimedia objects, such as photos and sounds. To remove the memory card, push down on the card and slide upward. To install the memory card, remove the battery door from the back of your phone. Slide the memory card under the metal clip and into the card slot as shown with the gold contacts facing down. Replace the battery door.
15 View Memory Card Information You can use a removable memory card with your phone to store and retrieve multimedia objects, such as photos and sounds. Memory Card is highlighted, press the centre key. Press Back when you are finished. To see your available memory, press the centre key and select Settings Phone Status Scroll to Storage Devices and press Select. To format the memory card, press Options and select Format. Note: Formatting your memory card will erase all your data.
16 Transfer Files Using a USB Cable Your phone has a mini-usb port so you can connect it to a computer to transfer data. When your phone is connected to a computer, you can only access the memory card through the computer. Press the centre key, then select Settings Connection USB Settings Scroll right to change Default Connection to Memory Card. Attach one end of the Motorola USB cable to your phone and the other end to a USB port on your computer. Find where your phone s memory card displays as a Removable Disk icon. On a PC, this is the My Computer window. On a Mac, it is on the desktop. Double click on the Removable Disk icon to access your phone s memory card. 5 Drag and drop files between your computer and your memory card. 6 When you finish, remove the phone with the memory card safely from your computer. On a PC, right click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon at the bottom of your computer screen, then select USB Mass Storage Device and press Stop. On a Mac, select and drag the Removable Disk icon to the Trash. 8 7 Select USB Mass Storage Device and press OK. Now it is safe to disconnect the cable. On your phone, scroll right to change Default Connection back to Data Connection. Press Back when you are finished.
17 Use My Phone in Restricted Areas You can switch your phone to aeroplane mode to prevent it from communicating with the network. This lets you play games, listen to music or use other applications when you are on an aeroplane without interfering with aeroplane communications. Note: Consult airline staff about the use of aeroplane mode in flight. Turn off your phone whenever instructed to do so by airline staff. Press the centre key, then select Aeroplane Mode. Scroll right to change Aeroplane Mode to On. Press Back when you are finished. Tip: To make the aeroplane mode option come on whenever you turn on your phone, scroll right to change Prompt At Startup to On.
