Step 1 How to Connect your Magic Sing Connection Standard AV / RCA [TV] HDMI [HDTV] Plug the power cable into the back of the Magic Sing Base Unit, and the wall plug into an electricity wall socket. Step 2 The ET-23KH unit allows you to use HDMI (HD-TV) or standard RCA (red, white, yellow) connections depending on the television/sound system which you are using. Choose your method of connection, AV or HDMI, and before doing anything, make sure the unit is SWITCHED OFF. Carefully slide back the top piece of plastic on the base unit revealing chip slots and a small switch. If you are using RCA, make sure the little black switch is toward TV and if you are using HDMI connections, flick it over to HD-TV Step 3 Connect the AV single black end into the Magic Sing base unit Connect one end of the HDMI into the back of the base unit just under the text HDTV Step 4 Option 1 You can plug the AV cables in 4 ways. Directly to your TV, into a Home Theatre System, into a Dedicated Karaoke Amplifier with 2 Speakers or into a Powered Speaker. See below for details. All require the yellow cable to go directly to your TV in a yellow video input. You can plug all three AV cables into your TV s RCA Input (red, white, yellow) however your sound will only be as good as your TV speakers are quite small and not really designed for karaoke use. Should you use just your TV you Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into a HDMI input on your TV 2

may receive a voice delay through the microphones, this is a limitation of your TV. Option 2 Option 3 You can use a Home Theatre with red and white cables directly into your amplifier but should always change your amplifier settings to 2-Channel Stereo as all karaoke is in Stereo not 5.1 or 7.1 surround. However, be aware that even if you're using 2-Channel stereo, if your speakers are all very small satellite speakers you may still have a delay and or cause damage to them as they may be too small to handle karaoke. Please Note we never recommend the use of sound bars for karaoke. When using one of our dedicated amplifier and speaker packages, you plug the red and white into the amplifier directly. Option 4 Powered Speakers means the amplifier is built into the one unit with the speaker, your Magic Sing will connect using either the straight red/white into the back of the speaker, or depending on the speaker model using a AV Jack to Line plug [Sold Separately]. Step 5 Once you re connected the way you want to be, switch the base unit on. Step 6 Slide the back covers off the microphones and correctly insert 2x AA batteries in each of them and put the covers back on Step 7 Switch the TV to the appropriate AV setting via your Source or Input button [depends on where you plugged it in on the back] Switch the TV to the appropriate HDMI setting via your Source or Input button [depends on where you plugged it in on the back] 3

Step 8 Switch on both microphones till they show P-On which means they re switching on Step 9 Open up your Magic Sing songbook, once you have decided on a song to sing from your Magic Sing song book, type the song number (you will find it on the left hand side of the book, beside the Song Title ) and press the GREEN Play/Stop button in the centre of the microphone. Step 10 NOW SING!!! Insert & Remove Additional Song Chips Step 1 Turn off the microphones AND base unit, using the relevant off switches unit can remain plugged in but MUST be switched off. Please Note: Failure to follow these steps can result in damage to your Magic Sing unit and or song chips and will result your warranty being voided. Step 2 Remove the case on the top of the base unit, revealing chip slots. Step 3 Take note of the ARROWS on the plastic near the chip slots, and those which are on your Magic Sing chip. Step 4 Facing the arrows the same way as is on the base unit, carefully insert the chip. It may take a little push to get it in properly so that the unit can pick up the songs. Step 5 In order for the chips to work, they must be left in the top of the base unit as the unit does not have any additional memory within itself. Step 6 Use the DOWN arrow on your microphone to scroll through and select a song, or use track number selection, as per previous instructions. 4

MP3+G Karaoke Tracks and Magic Sing Yes, your Magic Sing ET-23KH is compatible with MP3+G Karaoke Files however there are a few limitations of the Magic Sing unit with regards to the download format to be aware of. Don't download songs on Windows 8 operating system as the files are not compatible thereafter when loaded onto USB stick, use Windows 7 or earlier. Songs listed as Multiplex Audio will playback on the ET-23K with full cover vocals so you can sing-along, you cannot switch off the lead vocals with the ET-23KH so choose the standard version of the song if you don't want full vocals. During MP3+G playback you cannot change the Key or Tempo of the song. Apple Mac Important Notice: The downloading process as tabled above is for Windows PC's only, if you are using an Apple Mac PC you need to use a free software program called "StuffIt Expander" instead of the built in Mac utility which alters the MP3+G files upon download as it doesn't recognize the format, causing them to no longer work. Converting CD+G Discs to MP3+G Song Files You can also convert CD+G discs into modern MP3+G song files for use on the ET-23KH for more information on this visit USB Tips Is your USB still not working with your unit and you have already followed all the correct download steps? Please make sure no other files are on the USB stick, like word documents etc. the USB must be 100% dedicated to MP3+G files Try this! Reformat Your USB (FOR PC) 1. Insert your USB in your PC 2. Find the icon for the USB in My Computer 3. Empty USB please make sure you have the files backed up on your computer. 4. Right click the USB drive icon 5. Select Format 6. Click Start once process is complete your USB is formatted. 7. This should bring your USB back to FAT32 and allow you to reload all your music files to it, insert into your machine for easy on-screen playback! Try this! Reformat Your USB (FOR MAC) 1. Insert USB into your MAC. 2. Make sure you have a backup of your files on your computer somewhere before deleting everything from the USB. 3. Go to Spotlight (Search) and type in and select DISC UTILITY. 4. Click into the USB on the side panel. 5. Move onto the Erase tab 6. Choose the Erase button, NOT THE Erase Free Space. 7. Confirm Erase 8. Move back to your USB, it is now reformatted and you are able to put your songs back onto it and try again. It may be a good idea to this regularly and think of it as servicing your car to keep it running right. 5

Download MP3+G Tracks for your Magic Sing Step 1 Go to and choose either Single Song or Digital Albums for MP3+G (for compatible MP3+G devices like the karaoke boom box, MP600, MP2000, Miic Star MS62, Magic Sing ET23KH and PCDJ Karaoki Hosting Software) Step 2 Click Sign-In or Register to add songs Step 3 Enter your KHE.com.au Account login details, and click Sign-In or if you do not have an account with KHE.com.au then click New Customer, Click here Step 4 Once you ve logged in you will go back to the large list of songs which you can search through, you should see your Username in the top right hand corner on the side bar, and Click here to buy song credit. Click this button. 6

Step 5 You ll come to this screen below where you can see all the pricing tabled out for you, for how many songs, how much per song, and how much for the total voucher. You pay the Price at the very end, for the entire selection of songs now. You can choose and download your songs over 12 months from the day you download your first song. Select how many songs you want. Read the terms and conditions & tick the box. Select purchase song credit. Step 6 Follow the prompts, login to PayPal and process the payment. Or enter your card details into PayPal and process your payment. Step 7 Once the payment has processed, you will go back to the screen with the songs listed and you can search by song title, or artist. Select ADD, beside each song you wish to download. Step 8 Your songs will appear and create a list on the right hand side of the page, and the website will tell you when you ve selected all your songs. If you re songs selected are correct, select the Checkout button Step 9 Follow the prompts on screen to checkout the songs, checking you have the correct songs all the way through. Please note: Once you ve completed your order / downloaded your songs they cannot be exchanged / refunded due to strict licensing restrictions. 7

Step 10 Once you ve completed the order, you will see under Order History, all your songs and a DOWNLOAD button beside them. Click this button and you will see a bar / pop up, select Save As and choose your file location on your computer where you want the songs to download to. And click Save. The song will now download. Follow this step for the rest of your songs. Step 11 Once completed you will need to unzip your files. Right click on the file, select Extract All. 8

Step 12 Choose the destination to be your root folder, in this case Downloads is where I ve put the song, I want the two files to extract into the main folder. Click Extract. Step 13 You will now see the below, two files for the 1 song, and the zipped file, you can delete the zipped file. Keep the two files. One is.mp3 and the other is.cdg the files must be named exactly the same except for this extension. In a karaoke machine, these two files get played at the same time to give you the lyrics on screen and the music at the same time. Now you just copy to your USB / HDD / SD Card / Device and load into your machine accordingly. ZIPPED COPY BOTH FILES TO USB UNZIPPED 9

FAQ Page Q: Why do all the songs not have someone singing the whole way through? A: Magic Sing does provide you with 22 Multiplex (full vocal, someone singing the song the entire way through), however the majority are traditional Karaoke and will not have any guide vocals throughout the song. Q: Where do the Magic Sing chips go? A: The Magic Sing chips get inserted into the base unit, underneath the little plastic cover. Make sure the arrows on the unit and the chips are facing the same way before inserting (there are instructions above) Q: Why is the picture not appearing on my television? A: Have you switched the TV/HDTV switch over to the appropriate option (do so when unit is switched OFF), this will prevent your unit from appearing on your TV if it is not flicked to the right side. Q: Does the base unit charge the microphones when they are stationed in it? A: No, the microphones are operated by 2x AA Batteries, and therefore the unit itself doesn t recharge when the microphones are on the holder, they are simply decorative and a means of storing your microphones without causing damage to them. Q: Where is the chip for the included songs? Can I take them out if I don t like them? A: The Magic Sing unit comes with over 2000 songs included, however these songs are hard wired, and built-into the base unit itself and are not a detachable chip, therefore they cannot be removed, and individual songs cannot be taken off. Q: Can I make my own chip up with my own chosen songs? A: There is currently no facility for making your own chip in Magic Sing, however you are lucky! The ET-23KH you just purchased, does allow you to do MP3+G downloads and play them through a USB port on the front of your base unit, see instructions above of how to download and get your downloaded music onto your unit. Q: Why is my voice delayed over the music when I sing? I have the unit plugged straight into my TV, what am I doing wrong? A: Reasons you may be experiencing some voice delay is if you are plugged in solely to your television, your TV speakers will be working overtime trying to push out the sound of the music and your voice at the same time. As they are generally small speakers and you have to turn the volume up considerably. Your television may not be able to cope, resulting in this delay. Use your home theatre system/amplifier (see page 2) as you will bypass your television speakers. 10
