1 Find more information This product is the vehicle drive recorder that records the driving video of a car. Depending on the driving conditions, vehicle type, and navigation environments, some functions may not be supported. Functional support related to firmware updates for more reliable and advanced quality may vary by product. In addition, please use this apparatus as a reference to check the driving video since the video recording function may not work in some environments or conditions. This product does not guarantee that it records all videos of accidents and any accidents caused by an impact not big enough to trigger the impact sensor (G-SENSOR) may not be identified as an event video and, consequently, may not be recorded. 4 Safety Instructions The following instructions are given to ensure your safety. Read them thoroughly and ensure the product is correctly used. Product Adjust the angle of a camera and check the recorded video after mounting the product: change of the mounting may change the angle of the camera. If the product is mounted on any unsuitable place, recording may fail to run properly. Excessive tinted windshield gloss can distort the video quality. Some solar control films may cause the white-balance used in video recording to change. For the best video quality, Please clean the windshield regularly. This product records driving video using a camera. The quality of video may be degraded in extreme situations, such as when the brightness changes rapidly, when entering or exiting a tunnel, or when the light is too strong, for example at noon, or when there is no light source, for example at midnight. If the product is damaged, the power supply is cut, due to an accident. Video may not be recorded. Foreign materials (e.g., fingerprints) can affect the video quality, please clean the lens regularly. 4 I

5 Safety Instructions Chapter II Chapter Product The optimal Temperature is -20~65 C(-4~149 F). Please keep the temperature in sum mer or winter to prevent any problem. The performance can decline or malfunction, if the product is used outside the optimal temperature. Please keep the product out of direct sunlight. Do not use the product in a place where the temperature and/or humidity is high. Make sure that the product is installed correctly. Do not press the buttons with too much pressure. THINKWARE is not liable for any product damage or personal injuries that occur due to accidents or the incorrect use or operation of this product. It may cause failure of the product. The user is liable for any damage or failure caused by the unauthorized use of third-party devices or peripherals. If any problem is detected in the product s operation or such a possibility exists, contact the Customer Center. Otherwise, the problem may become serious and customer service will be unable to provide an effective solution. Be careful that no foreign materials enter the product or cables. Foreign materials in the product may result in the malfunction or failure of the product. Be sure that the camera angle is correct if the product has been mounted and used for a long time or used in a severe-vibrating driving environment such as on unpaved roads. When the positioning of the product or the camera angle is not proper, the recording may not be completed successfully. 8 I

12 How to Install the Product How to Insert/Remove Micro SD Memory Card Insert the micro SD memory card into the micro SD memory card slot according to the arrow direction showed on the SD memory card slot. Inserting direction micro SD Front MicroSD memory card Removing direction Since it is one-touch type, just press the end of the micro SD memory card and then the card will automatically be removed. If the micro SD memory card is inserted forcibly into the wrong direction, the card may be damaged and its repair will be charged for. 12 I Since the memory card is consumable with a limited life, regular inspection or replacement is required. For the memory card, it is recommended that you purchase and use our retail product. We shall hold no liability for problems caused by using a memory card other than genuine THINKWARE memory cards. To separate the memory card from terminal (product), ensure that the power of terminal is turned off. Otherwise, it may cause error and/or failure. It is recommended that you back up the data in a separate storage (PC, etc) besides the memory card to avoid loss of data.

13 How to Install the Product By adjusting the grooves on the mount-connector, connect it the device. Insert the mount into the of the mount connector of the device, and push it completely toward until 'tick' sound occurs. Remove the film of the double-sided tape and attach one side to the mount. Attach the mount to a location that does not hinder your driving or outside visibility. We recommend that you install the device behind the rearview mirror. Select a location that allows for easy button control. Wipe all foreign material and moisture from the surface to which the double-sided tape will be attached using a soft and dry cloth. To install the product stably, separate the device off the mount and fix the mount by pressing the area of the mount attached on the front window. After fixing the area, connect the mount-connector of the device to the mount properly again. Adjust the device to a proper angle and fix it by tightening the screw of the mount. Adjust the angle of the camera until the bonnet occupies 1/8 ~ 1/4 of the footage from the bottom (depending on the vehicle type and installation environment). If you do not tighten the screw of the mount, the video may not be recorded properly due to the rocking of the device or other causes. 14 How to Install the Product 5 Remove the camera lens protection file. If the film is not removed, the quality of recorded video will be degraded. Be careful not to stain the lens with fingerprints. 6 Connect the power cable and organize the cable with wire splice clips. More than 20cm If you use both the device and the navigation, ensure that they are located diagonally at proper space so that they are not installed vertically on the same line. (The product's reception may be degraded in some areas with low DMB and GPS sensitivity.) If you want to use the parking recording mode after you first install the product, press the power button. For the best video quality, keep the windows of your vehicle clean before starting recording. Foreign materials (e.g., fingerprints) that stain the car DVR lens may result in a negative impact on the recorded video. Ensure the lens remains clean. Make sure that you turn off the power before connecting the external GPS terminal for receiving GPS info. Connect the external GPS antenna and turn on the power. The GPS operates with Voice Guidance. In case of using external GPS antenna, not provided by THINKWARE, GPS terminal could be damaged. I 17

18 Basic Operation Connecting the AV OUT (Optional) Connect the AV OUT cable to the AV OUT terminal to output the recorded video to an external device. Displaying recorded video With AV OUT connection, view recorded video on external device (Audit output is not supported.) Please use the standard cable. 19 Chapter II Chapter Basic Operation Recording while Driving C ontinuous Recording All videos are recorded in interval of one-minute and saved in continuous recording folder. C ontinuous Event Recording When the impact of which strength exceeds the user-specified strength, the device records scenes for 20 seconds; from 10 seconds before the event (impact) has occurred to 10 seconds after that and automatically saves the video in the Event Recording folder. If continuous impacts are detected, they can be recorded for maximum 1 minute. T he time before/after recording continuous event may differ depending on the video quality settings. 20 Basic Operation Auto Parking Mode Setting (Default) When the vehicle turns off, the device is automatically changed to parking mode with voice guidance. Operation status LED Voice Recording ON Voice Recording OFF Parking recording is starting. You need to set up the mode through the PC Viewer settings. (The default is auto parking mode.) You can use the auto parking mode function by connecting a genuine permanent power cable to the vehicle. (If the cable is not a genuine one, the function may not work properly.) The time taken for automatic change to parking mode is approximately 30 seconds. However, if the battery is old or has low voltage, the mode may not be changed to parking mode to prevent the discharge of the battery. 20 I

24 Basic Operation Recording files A file with date/time stamp is created in each folder located in the Micro SD card. A recording file is created based on the start time of recording. Year Day Min. Month Hour Sec. If the recording image exceeds MicroSD Card capacity, it deletes images from the oldest file and creates new date/time folders and recording files. When taking the SD card from the device to check the recorded video, ensure that you do not take it out right after turning off the device. When turning off the power, remove the SD card only after the voice guidance "The system is shutting down". If you remove the SD card right after the system off, the date stored on the SD card may be damaged. Do not store user data (video, music files, etc.) in the Micro SD card. It may delete the stored video or result in the malfunction of the device. 24 I

25 Basic Operation Chapter I Chapter I Voice Function Setting Voice Guidance ON/OFF By pressing the voice guidance button shortly, you can change the voice guidance setting with a beep sound. Enable the voice guidance function. (Volume 1-6) / Disable the voice guidance function. Press short Voice Recording ON/OFF Press the voice guidance button for more than 3 seconds to turn ON/OFF voice guidance with beep sound. For more than 3 seconds When A/V OUT cable is connected, press the REC button and the voice guidance ( ) button to convert into Playback mode. Connect the Car DVR with external devices by using A/V OUT cable. We recommend you to use a standard A/V OUT cable guaranteed by us. 26 I

35 Chapter II Chapter PC Viewer Installing a Program You can view the video file recorded by the Car DVR through the PC Viewer. To play the saved video file on the PC, you must download the program from the THINKWARE home page. 1 Go to > download > PC viewer download. 2 Double-click the downloaded file on the Windows Explorer. 3 First, the ffdshow codec is installed and then the integrated PC Viewer program is installed. - After completing installation, click the Complete button to exit the installation window. 4 Check whether the BLACK VIEWER shortcut has been installed on the Desktop or not. 38 PC Viewer The micro SD memory card reader in an optional accessory. Executing a PC Viewer MicroSD adapter 1 Insert Micro SD card into the Micro adaptor. Doubleclick 3 Execute the BLACK VIEWER icon on the Desktop to execute the PC Viewer program. The PC Viewer program screen appears. If a micro SD card has been inserted in the product but never used, the drive cannot be opened. In this case, insert the micro SD card in the product and record at least one file. 38 I

41 Chapter II Chapter PC Viewer View Full Screen Select the full screen ( ) icon on the top right-hand corner to see the video full screen on the monitor. On the full screen, click the Zoom out icon on the top of the PC Viewer to change the screen to the standard screen display ratio. When the resolution of the monitor is higher than that of the video (1280x720): The video is displayed in its resolution. When the resolution of the monitor is lower than that of the video (1280x720) The video is displayed in the resolution of the monitor. I 41

(However, make sure the recording ending voltage is not too low, otherwise the battery may be discharged depending on its state.) If the voltage decreases below the set recording ending voltage in the recording ending time setting, the recording ending voltage setting function will be executed first. Recording Ending Voltage Setting Min. 11.7V ~ Max. 12.4V Parking recording time increases (susceptible to vehicle battery discharge) Parking recording time increases (safer from vehicle battery discharge) Functions of auto parking mode and blocking voltage for ending recording end are available when our retail continuous power cable is used. If the product malfunctions even when you changed the setting values, please check the terminal and the vehicle battery and if required, charge the battery. Set the auto parking mode switch level and the ending recording level according to the battery status and usage time before using it. To adjust the setting values to appropriate values, change the values by one level for avoiding malfunctions. The product may be malfunctioned when you use other cables but our Optional constant power cable. I 47

The setting values are saved in the micro SD card. Therefore, insert the micro SD card to the product and turn on the power. The product boots and the settings are simultaneously applied to the product. I 51

The saved configuration file is created as setup.cfg file in the setting folder of the micro SD card. Insert the micro SD card to the product and turn on the power. The product boots up with the settings being simultaneously applied to the product. If you forcibly delete the setup.cfg file, you cannot use it on the PC Viewer. In this case, insert the micro SD card to the product and operate the product. Then the setup.cfg file is created as a default setting and it can be used on the PC Viewer again. 52 I
