2 Version Firmware V Release Date 28-May-2014 Update Type Optional Recommended Required (Field Safety Notice 1/2014 and 2/2014) This firmware update is mandatory. All customer are asked to update their devices of CODAN ARGUS 717 / 718 V. The firmware is available as download from our web server. Introduction Welcome to CODAN ARGUS 717 / 718 V Firmware V and CODAN ARGUSservice V In this release we have updated the CODAN ARGUS 717 / 718 V firmware with improved functionality and important bug fixes. New reference documents issued for 5.06: User Manual Service Manual Order Form / Configuration Sheet Installation information System Prerequisites: CODAN ARGUSservice V or higher (available as download from Microsoft Windows XP with the latest service pack (SP2 or higher) or Windows 7 with the latest service pack (SP1 or higher) Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0 or higher (if required, update will be initiated by CODAN ARGUSservice installer. Internet connection is required) A free serial RS232 COM Port for connecting the ARGUS cable. 3 Product Improvement Improved Technical Error handling The user is able to acknowledge any technical error on the pump. After a technical error has occurred, the defective pump shall be passed to the technical service department. In emergencies, when the interruption of a therapy poses a risk to the patient health, it is possible to restart the pump in normal mode and to finish the running therapy. During this time the defective pump shall be under continuous supervision. The double key combination to reset the pump published in field safety notice 1/2014 is not active anymore. Please read the user manual (chapter 15.4 Technical error messages) for more detailed information. Barcode based therapy The barcode based therapy is an efficient method for setting up and applying a therapy. The barcode contains information on therapy as well as patient ID or nursing staff. Please note that in order to use the barcode feature of your pump, not only do you require this firmware update, your pump must be equipped with a bluetooth interface board and a barcode scanner. The barcode scanner (part number: ) and the bluetooth interface board (part number: ) are now available. Please read the user manual (chapter 11.2 Medication selection via barcode reader) for more detailed information. 4 Pump s Functionality 1. Easier to release a bolus The order of settings in the bolus menu has changed. Now the user is able to start a bolus just by pressing first the menu button and then the start button. 2. Extension of CODAN ARGUSprotocol The CODAN ARGUSprotocol has been updated and expanded to support external systems (e.g. PDMS Patient Data Management Systems). See CODAN ARGUSprotocol documentation for more detailed information. 3. Accumulated volume This feature acculumates the volume across multiple therapies. The accumulated volume is cleared automatically upon switch off of pump or user command. The functionality of the accumulated volume is enabled or disabled in the configuration. 4. Department name at start up The user may define a department name which is displayed at the bottom of the start-up screen. If there is no name defined, the firmware version is shown. 5. Compatibility with all docking generations This firmware version is compatible with both docking generations A300 / A500 / A600 M and A100 / A60 M, respectively. 6. 6 Corrections of Limitations Elevated hardness of IV-sets CODAN ARGUS AG has corrected the design deficiency in the existing pump control software version lower than CODAN ARGUS 717 / 718 V s internal self-test is modified for higher immunity against elevated hardness of intravenous infusion sets.
