What s New? Release 1.35 Optin t enable r disable the secnd Shared-PERC (SPERC2) n dual SPERC cnfiguratin. When the SPERC2 is disabled the chassis will be cnfigured frm Fault Tlerant (Redundant) mde t Single PERC mde withut degrading the chassis health. In this case the secnd SPERC will be shwn as disabled in CMC user interfaces. The ptin can be accessed using CMC web interface Strage Cntrllers Trubleshting page r RACADM interface with the fllwing cmmands: racadm raid disableperc:raid.chassisintegrated.2-1 racadm raid enableperc:raid.chassisintegrated.2-1 Nte: The chassis shuld be n and all server mdules shuld be pwered ff befre running the enable r disable raid cntrller cmmands. The chassis is pwer cycled as part f this peratin. After changing the SPERC status, it is recmmended t reset the CMC using the CMC Web interface <Truble shting page) r the "racadm racreset" cmmand. 4 Fixes Release 1.35 Fixed an issue in RACADM related t alert event filter cnfiguratin. Fixed an issue in CMC web interface related t Chassis OverView-> Alerts->Chassis Events page. The Chassis Events page was nt lading n the web interface due t certain alert cnfiguratin settings that were nt wrking with the fllwing filters: System-SEC-Warning, Audit-LIC-Critical, Audit-LIC-Warning and Audit-LIC-Infrmatinal. This issue has been fixed in this Release. Nte: After updating t CMC 1.35 firmware versin, verify the CMC alert cnfiguratin settings n the Chassis Event's page. Imprtant Ntes It is recmmended nt t dwngrade CMC r Mainbard firmware belw the supprted versins mentined in this release ntes, since previus versins f CMC and Mainbard d nt supprt SPERC disable ptin. When the secnd SPERC is in the disabled mde, if a CMC with firmware versin 1.30 r 1.31 is inserted int the chassis, then update the CMC firmware t 1.35 and run the ptins t disable the PERC again. The shared hard disk drives (HDDs) and PCIe cards are managed by the CMC and are nt visible t the perating system in the server mdules, until the HDDs and PCIe cards are mapped by using the CMC web interface. Fr instructins abut mapping PCIe cards and managing the strage subsystem, see the Chassis Management Cntrller fr PwerEdge VRTX User's Guide available at the supprt site. All the server mdules must be turned ff befre updating the firmware fr chassis infrastructure and SPERC. CMC firmware can be updated while the servers are turned n. Sme advanced features require CMC enterprise license. Fr mre infrmatin abut the CMC licenses, see the Chassis Management Cntrller fr PwerEdge VRTX Versin User's Guide available at the supprt site. Befre updating the strage cmpnent using the web interface, make sure that the brwser s Ckies are enabled. PERC strage rebuild may take mre time when mre number f I/O requests are prcessed, and culd als make CMC and the TTY lg t be ut f sync fr a shrt perid f time. In fault-tlerant (Redundant) mde, the cntrller assciated with virtual disks r physical disk drives is the active cntrller. Befre updating a single PERC, yu must turn ff the servers befre starting the update prcess.

5 Knwn Issues When yu add a member Chassis t a Chassis grup using the Multi-Chassis Management feature, yu cannt specify the grup members with an IPv6 address. Limitatins Nne fr this release. Installatin Prerequisites Befre setting up yur CMC envirnment, dwnlad the latest versin f CMC firmware fr PwerEdge VRTX frm the Dell Supprt Website at dell.cm/supprt/. Als, make sure that yu have the Dell Systems Management Tls and Dcumentatin DVD that is included with yur system. Installatin Prcedure 1. In the CMC web interface, click Chassis Overview, and then click Update. 2. On the Firmware Update page, in the CMC Firmware sectin, select the required cmpnents under the Update Targets clumn fr the CMC r CMCs (if a standby CMC is present) yu want t update, and then click Apply CMC Update. 3. In the Firmware Image bx, type the path t the firmware image file n the management statin r shared netwrk, r click Brwse t brwse thrugh t the file lcatin. The default name f the CMC firmware image file is vrtx_cmc.bin. 4. Click Begin Firmware Update, and then click Yes. The Firmware Update Prgress sectin displays infrmatin abut the firmware update status.
