3 1 Before Start 1.1 Before getting started This Operation Guide explains rekordbox lyric and related features. For instructions on rekordbox in general, see the rekordbox Operating Instructions. rekordbox Operating Instructions: rekordbox.com/en/support/manual.php rekordbox lyric can be used on rekordbox and later. Please update rekordbox to the latest version if you haven t already. 1.2 Overview of rekordbox lyric Using rekordbox lyric, you can play DJ with visualized lyrics in sync with the track that s playing. Please see rekordbox.com for details of rekordbox lyric. rekordbox.com/en/products/rekordboxlyric/ Internet connection is required to acquire lyrics and font data. 1.3 System requirements NOTE Depending on some system environment, lyrics may not be displayed properly. Please see 2.2 Trial in this manual and start trial to make sure that lyrics are displayed on your system environment. Be sure to check the Lyric function thoroughly before starting rekordbox lyric subscription. Minimum system requirements: CPU: Intel processor Core i7, i5, i3 Memory: 4 GB RAM Hard Disk: 2GB of free space (not including space for storing music files, etc.) Display resolution: 1280 x 768 2

4 Recommended system requirements: to use rekordbox lyric more comfortably, or when using rekordbox lyric and rekordbox video at the same time CPU: 2.2 GHz quad-core Intel R Core TM i7 or above Memory: 16 GB or more of RAM Hard Disk: 2GB or more of free space (not including space for storing music files, etc.) Display resolution: 1280 x 768 or greater *For rekordbox video, please see rekordbox video Operating Instructions. rekordbox.com/en/support/manual.php Full functionality is not guaranteed with all computers that satisfy these system requirements. Even with the required memory capacity, the software may not fully work due to lack of memory especially when: 1) there are many tracks being managed in the rekordbox library and 2) resident programs and services are running. Please take necessary measures to ensure sufficient free memory in the above cases. We recommend adding extra memory to achieve stable performance. Depending on your computer s power saving settings and other factors, it may not be possible for your computer to achieve its optimum CPU and/or hard-disk processing capacity. Especially when using a laptop computer, make sure to utilize external AC power sources to ensure high performance settings of the computer while using rekordbox. rekordbox may not operate properly when combined with other software programs on your computer. Supported OS: OS (Windows) : Windows 10, 8.1, 7(The latest service pack) OS (Mac) : macos High Sierra 10.13, macos Sierra (Updated to the latest version) OS X 10.11(Updated to the latest version) Note For Windows users: please use 64-bit version to satisfy recommended system requirements mentioned above. 3

5 2 Activation You can use rekordbox lyric in either of the following ways: 1 Start subscription -> See 2.1 Subscription Plans 2 Use TRIAL mode -> See 2.2 Trial 2.1 Subscription Plans We have following three subscription plans (as of January 2018). Each plan covers following Plus Packs. Base Plan: rekordbox dj, rekordbox dvs, rekordbox video and RMX EFFECTS Premium Plan: rekordbox dj, rekordbox dvs, rekordbox video, RMX EFFECTS and rekordbox lyric Lyric Plan: rekordbox lyric Please note that rekordbox lyric is only available through a subscription plan. To use rekordbox lyric, please subscribe to Premium Plan or Lyric Plan. For details, please see the following URL. rekordbox.com/en/store/#subscribedj If you already own rekordbox dj Plus Pack license Please subscribe to Lyric Plan and move on to 2.3 Activate rekordbox lyric If you already started subscription of rekordbox dj version 5.1 or earlier Please follow the steps below. 1) Cancel your current subscription (Base Plan) 2) Subscribe to Premium Plan 3) Move on to 2.3 Activate rekordbox lyric 4

6 2.1.3 If you would like to start subscription for the first time To use rekordbox lyric, please subscribe to Premium Plan and move on to 2.3 Activate rekordbox lyric. 2.2 Trial The rekordbox lyric trial is a 30-day trial mode to use the Lyric function. Unlike rekordbox dvs or rekordbox video trial, rekordbox lyric trial is a demonstration mode where you can display lyrics of sample tracks downloaded from rekordbox lyric. You cannot display lyrics of tracks other than the sample tracks. Internet connection is required to acquire rekordbox lyric sample tracks. But you can acquire lyrics of sample tracks without internet connection. After starting subscription, you can display lyrics of tracks in your library. To start trial, 1) Activate rekordbox dj 2) Open [Preferences] [License] 3) Click [Try for 30 days] under rekordbox lyric subscription. 5

7 Click [Start Trial]. The following dialog appears. Click OK to start Lyric Trial. Open [Preferences] [Lyric] and click [Download Samples]. 6

8 Click [OK] to start download. Select destination to download sample tracks. When you select the destination, rekordbox automatically download sample tracks and import them to Collection. Load a sample track to a deck and play it. The lyrics will be displayed on the Lyric panel in sync with the track. You will find details in 5. Part names and functions. 7

9 2.3 Activate rekordbox lyric Open [Preferences] and select [License] tab. Click [Activate] under rekordbox lyric. Then, the below dialog appears. Enter your address and password and click [OK]. Enter your license key and click [OK]. 8

10 When activation successfully completed, you can use rekordbox lyric. 9

11 3 Preparation 3.1 Download necessary fonts To use rekordbox lyric, you ll need to download fonts. During the process of activation or trial, you will see the dialog below. Please follow the instructions to download fonts. 4 Using with DJ equipment Connect your computer to the DJ equipment (DJ controller or DJ player(cdj/xdj)) with a USB cable to control rekordbox on the DJ equipment. Please refer to the Operating Instructions of DJ equipment compatible with rekordbox (rekordbox.com/en/support/link.php). Be sure to read the Operating Instructions of DJ equipment before using it. You may be unable to properly operate the device depending on the USB connection status. This could be due to the bandwidth of the USB port and the USB hub on your computer. Changing the USB hub or port may solve the problem. 4.1 Using rekordbox with a DJ controller Please see the Operating instructions of your controller on how to use it. 13 [1] Lyric setting button Click this button to change lyric settings. [2] VIDEO DECK 1 / VIDEO DECK 2 Visualized lyrics are displayed. [3] Preview (MASTER) MASTER preview is displayed. [4] Full size button Full-size output window opens. [5] TRANSITION FX drop-down menu Select TRANSITION FX. You can select from FADE, SWITCH and GRID. [6] NEXT button Switch TRANSITION FX to the next Transition FX in the drop-down menu. [7] RANDOM button Select TRANSITION FX randomly. [8] AUTO TRANSITION button Move the crossfader automatically. [9] VIDEO CROSS FADER Crossfade video DECK1 and DECK2. 12

14 [10] AV SYNC button (crossfader) Enable/disable sync of the video crossfader (VIDEO panel) and the audio crossfader (MIXER panel). (toggle feature) 5.3 Browse section The following icons are shown on tracks with lyrics. There are 3 types of lyric data as follows: Lyric (word sync): Each word of lyrics has display time information. Lyric (line sync): Each line of lyrics has display time information. Lyric (no sync): Lyrics that have no display time information. 6 Basic Operation 6.1 Acquire lyrics You can acquire lyrics per track. To acquire lyrics, select a track in the browser area (multiple selection available), rightclick it and select [Acquire Lyrics] in the drop-down menu. 13

15 Lyrics can be automatically acquired when track analyzing. To do so, open [Preferences] [Lyric] [Acquire lyrics when analyzing tracks]. If you can t acquire lyrics, select one track on the browser, right-click it and select [Acquire Lyrics] to open the below window. Lyric information is retrieved based on the below meta data. - Artist name (mandatory) - Title (mandatory) - Album title (optional) 14

16 - Duration (optional) Artist name and title are mandatory and needed to match the information registered in the lyrics service. Please make sure that the artist name and title are correctly entered in rekordbox. [Tips] Album title and duration are optional. If you can t acquire lyrics, please blank these two optional items and click [Acquire]. Lyrics may be acquired. 6.2 Display lyrics Load a track with lyrics to DECK1 or DECK2. Visualized lyrics are shown on the Lyric panel. 6.3 Change lyric settings Motion settings 15

17 You can change Lyric Motion to match the lyrics. Selectable motions differ depending of the lyric type: 1 Word Sync Focal/ Touch/ Block/ Reverse/ Natural/ Planetary/ Tectonic/ Reflecting/ Glide 2 Line Sync Bend/ Reverse/ Glide 3 No Sync Torrent/ Thread/ Scroll Delay Compensation [msec] Adjustment can be made at the start of a track. (offset) For example, you can sync the music and its lyrics as follows. Example 1:to display lyrics 1.5 seconds earlier, enter Example 2:to display lyrics 22.8 seconds later, enter Each setting will be saved per track. Color settings You can set color for lyrics. 16

18 Click to select colors of background and letters as a set. Click to show the dialog below. You can select colors of background and letters separately. Transparency of the colors can also be changed independently. Click to reset back to preset color (default). The color settings are saved per track. 17

19 Display When [OFF] is selected, the display of lyrics to the selected video deck is turned off. 6.4 Delete lyrics You can acquire up to 3000 tracks using rekordbox lyric. When the number of lyrics reaches 3000, delete unnecessary lyrics data and then acquire new lyrics data. (To delete lyrics: select acquired lyrics on the browser, right-click it and select [Delete Lyrics].) 7 Preferences Enable Lyric Function Show/hide Lyric panel. Video Quality 18

20 Select quality of rekordbox lyric [Video Quality] from High/Mid/Low. This is the same as rekordbox video [Video Quality]. For rekordbox video, please see rekordbox video Operating instructions. rekordbox.com/en/support/manual.php Others Acquire lyrics when analyzing tracks When ticked, lyrics are acquired during track analysis. Allow display of inappropriate words When ticked, lyrics are displayed including inappropriate words. When unticked, lyrics are displayed without inappropriate words. NOTE: When you change this setting, you ll need to delete lyrics manually and acquire them again through the internet to reflect the new setting to the lyrics.
