3 IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION Your Bluetooth speaker should be treated with care. The information below has been provided in the interest of safety and will help you to enjoy this product and the benefits it brings for many years. Keep the product and all its parts out of reach of small children. Keep it dry. Avoid exposure to precipitation, humidity and liquids which could all affect the product circuitry. Do NOT leave it in high temperatures as electronic devices and plastic parts may warp in heat. Do NOT leave it in low temperatures as moisture can form inside the product, which may damage the circuit board. Do NOT store in dusty or dirty areas. Only use the power supply that came with the product. Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidate your guarantee and may irrecoverably damage the product. Where the mains power plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable. Danger of overheating or fire if the batteries are incorrectly replaced. Replace the batteries with the same or equivalent type. Do NOT use your Bluetooth speaker near emergency/ intensive care medical equipment; if you have a pacemaker fitted or during an electrical storm. Do NOT use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents or detergents to clean the product. Wipe with a damp (not wet) soft cloth to clean. Do NOT attempt to open the product. Unauthorised handling of the device may damage it and will void your warranty. 3
4 PRODUCT SET UP What s in the box? 1 x Bluetooth speaker 1 x Mains power adaptor 1 x User manual Where to put your Bluetooth speaker It is important that you consider carefully in advance where your product will be situated and make sure that it is: * on a flat and stable surface * within 1.4 metres of a power socket * away from bright sunlight or heat sources, such as a radiator * not in a humid or very damp place such as a bathroom Setting Up 1. Connect the mains power lead into the socket on the back of the Bluetooth speaker and plug the power adaptor into the mains power wall socket and switch on. 2. Press the on/off switch on the back of the Bluetooth speaker to On The button on the top of the Bluetooth speaker will slowly flash red and blue alternately, confirming that the product is now in Standby mode. 3. Press and release the button to power on the product. The button will now flash blue quickly and will be in Bluetooth pairing mode. Note: Your Bluetooth speaker will remain in Bluetooth pairing mode for 3 minutes. If a successful Bluetooth connection is not made within this time, the speaker will exit pairing mode and the button will now flash blue slowly. Press and release the button to restart pairing mode. 4. On the device that you would like to connect to your Bluetooth speaker (e.g. iphone/ipad/android/other phone/ Computer), turn on Bluetooth connectivity and ensure that it is discoverable. Note: If necessary, refer to the instructions for your device to add or set up Bluetooth) 5. Select to Add new device, if necessary. Note: Some products will automatically search for a new device and so the Add new device option is not available. 6. When found, your Bluetooth speaker will be displayed as Audio device or MBX1. Select the device name to begin pairing. 4
5 7. When pairing is complete the flashing blue LED on your Bluetooth speaker will stop flashing and will remain on continuously. 8. Now that you have paired your device with the Bluetooth speaker, it will connect to it when it is within range, which is about 10 metres or less (33 feet or less), line of sight. Note: Please disconnect any Bluetooth connections to the Bluetooth speaker, before setting up a new connection or pairing. Disconnect a Bluetooth connection 1. Press and hold the and buttons at the same time to disconnect a bluetooth connection. The button will begin to flash blue quickly and will be in pairing mode. You can now pair it with another Bluetooth device. Clear the Bluetooth Pairing record 1. Press and hold the and buttons at the same time to clear the bluetooth pairing record. Using batteries (not supplied) You can also use your Bluetooth speaker with 4 x AA nonrechargeable alkaline batteries. When using battery power, please ensure that the mains power lead is unplugged from the mains power socket and from the back of the Bluetooth speaker Underneath the Bluetooth speaker, push in the tab to open the battery compartment. 2. Insert 4 x AA batteries, making sure to note the + and _ markings and position the batteries the correct way around. 3. Replace the battery cover, making sure it clicks shut. If used continuously on battery power, your speaker has an approximate battery life of 5 hours when using good quality batteries. Only use the recommended batteries or those of the same equivalent type. Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. Remove the batteries if they will not be used for an extended period of time. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Dispose of old batteries carefully. Never throw batteries in a fire or attempt to open the outer casing. Batteries are harmful if swallowed, so keep away from young children. Batteries must not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine or fire. Danger of overheating or fire if batteries are incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.

8 USING YOUR BLUETOOTH SPEAKER Switch on/off To turn the speaker on: Press the on/off switch on the back of the Bluetooth speaker to On and press and release the button on the top of the speaker. The product will switch on. Note: If you power on your product in Bluetooth mode the button will be blue and if you power on your product in Aux in mode, the button will be red. To turn the speaker off: Press and hold the button for approximately 5 seconds to go to Standby mode. To switch off your product, press the on/off switch on the back of the speaker to Off. The product will switch off. Note: To completely disconnect your Bluetooth speaker product, please switch off the mains power at the plug socket. Changing modes Briefly press the button to switch between Bluetooth and Aux in modes. Bluetooth mode: The Aux in mode: The button on the top of the product will be blue. button on the top of the product will be red. Adjusting the volume To increase the volume: Press and release the button on the top of the speaker. Press and hold the button on the top of the speaker to progressively increase the volume. To decrease the volume: Press and release the button on the top of the speaker. Press and hold the button on the top of the speaker to progressively decrease the volume. 8
9 Listening to Music/Audio using Bluetooth, via your Bluetooth speaker In Bluetooth mode: 1. Select and start the music or audio that you wish to listen to on your paired Bluetooth device. Note: If your previously paired device is within range (less than 10 metres/33 feet, line of sight), but does not automatically connect with the Bluetooth speaker, go to the Bluetooth connectivity settings on your device and select MBX1 to reconnect. 2. You can use the controls on your Bluetooth device as normal when it is paired with the Bluetooth speaker but you can also press and release the button on your Bluetooth speaker each time you wish to Play or Pause the music. To gain optimal volume levels, adjust the output volume level on both the external secondary device and on your speaker. USB port When connected to mains power, you can use a USB cable (not supplied), plugged into the USB port on the back of your Bluetooth speaker to charge your mobile phone. Note: The USB port will charge your phone when the Bluetooth speaker is connected to mains power, including in Standby mode. Aux in mode Using the Aux in socket on the back of the speaker you can connect an external sound source with a Line or Headphone analogue output to play through your speaker. Connecting to the Audio Input socket In Aux in mode, connect a 3.5mm Audio Input cable (not included), between the headphone or LINE/AUX output of the external secondary device and the Aux in socket on the back of the speaker. 9
10 SIMPLE SOLUTIONS If you are experiencing problems with your Bluetooth speaker there are some quick and easy checks that you can do, which may help to solve the problem. Unable to connect or pair with a Bluetooth device - Check that you are in Bluetooth mode. - Ensure that you are within range of the Bluetooth speaker for Bluetooth functionality (less than 10 metres/33 feet, line of sight) - Ensure that any previously paired devices have been disconnected. - Move the Bluetooth speaker and Bluetooth device away from other Bluetooth devices/electrical equipment. - If possible, turn off other nearby Bluetooth devices or disable their Bluetooth functionality. - In Aux in mode, check that the volume control is turned up on the external source. - If you are using batteries, they may be exhausted and need to be replaced. No sound/low volume: - Adjust the volume using the button. - Check that the mains power lead is connected at the back of the product, the mains power wall socket is switched on, the Bluetooth speaker is switched on at the back, you have pressed the button and are in the correct mode (Bluetooth or Aux in). 10

12 Consumer Product Warranty Australia & New Zealand Standard Warranty For Magicbox Products Consumer Product Warranty (Warranty against Defects) The purchase of a Magicbox product (hereinafter referred to in this Standard Warranty as good(s) ) includes coverage by the Magicbox Standard Warranty. The Magicbox Standard Warranty is provided by: Standard Radio Distributors trading as Canohm (ABN ), 3/200 Turner Street, Port Melbourne, Victoria 3207 Australia. Ph: , service@canohm.com.au Warranty terms and conditions 1.1 Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The benefits provided in this Standard Warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you may have under law. 1.2 Subject to the above, as part of your Standard Warranty Canohm agrees to repair or replace at Canohm s cost the goods (which includes a supplied Magicbox accessory) purchased by you in Australia or New Zealand from a Magicbox Authorised Dealer when the good does not perform in accordance with the manufacturer s specifications during the Warranty Term specified below, commencing from the date of purchase. 1.3 Goods returned for repair may be modified or repaired with refurbished parts of the same type. Replacement of the good or a part does not extend or restart the Warranty Term. 1.4 In the case of a good presented for repair which is capable of retaining user-generated data (e.g. internal memory), you are advised that the repair process of the good may result in loss of that data. 1.5 The good will be at the owner s risk whilst in transit to and from the Canohm Authorised Service Centre, unless transported by Canohm or its Authorised representatives. 1.6 Transportation of the good to Canohm or its Service Centre is at your cost. Canohm will not be liable for any damage caused to the good whilst in transit. 12
13 1.7 The cost of repair or replacement of the good shall be at Canohm s cost but Canohm and its Authorised Service Centres may seek reimbursement of any costs incurred by them when the good is found to be in proper working order. General exclusions and limitations 2.0 To the full extent permitted by law, but subject always to clause 1.1, the Standard Warranty will not apply: (a). If the good has not been installed, operated, maintained or used in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions or specifications provided with the good. (b). If the serial number has been altered or removed from the good. (c). To damage as a result of malfunction or failure resulting from alterations, accident, misuse, abuse, fire, liquid spillage, faulty or mis-adjustment of customer controls, use on an incorrect voltage, voltage supply problems, power surges and dips, thunderstorm activity, acts of God, tampering or unauthorised repairs by any persons, use of defective or incompatible accessories, the operation of a computer virus of any kind, exposure to conditions that are known to cause damage or entry by any foreign object in the good. (d). To damage arising out of or during transportation, installation or while moving the good, or to any transportation costs of the good or any parts thereof to and from the owner, unless otherwise specified in these warranty terms. (e). To any third-party software or hardware not contained in the good as originally configured by the manufacturer. (f). To any failure, to the extent that the failure is not a failure of the good to perform in accordance with its specifications. (g). To replacement or repair of any: (I). (II). consumables (including batteries and cables), or lost parts or accessories. (h). To service of any good whilst it is outside Australia and New Zealand. (i). To any wear and tear if the good is used in commercial, industrial, educational or rental applications. 13
14 3.0 To the full extent permitted by law but subject always to clause 1.1: (a). Canohm will not be liable for any loss, damage or alterations to: (I). (II). Making a Claim third party hardware or software; or programs, data or information stored on any media or any part of the good, no matter how occurring; or for any loss or damage arising from loss of use, loss of profits or revenue, or for any resulting indirect or consequential loss or damage. 4.0 To make a claim under the Standard Warranty you will need to: (a). Contact Canohm (contact details below) to notify your claim and provide sufficient details to enable Canohm to assess the claim. In order to assist with this process you may visit the Support section located on the Magicbox website. (b). Provide or make the good available to Canohm or a Canohm Authorised Service Centre. If you are required to return the good to a Canohm Authorised Service Centre, Canohm will provide details of the centre to you. (c). Provide proof of purchase of the good(s) (e.g. invoice or purchase receipt) at the time of making your claim (unless not required by law). 14 All Magicbox Products have a 1 year warranty.
