1 Avaya Solution & Interoperability Test Lab Application Notes for Configuring GN Netcom Jabra Speak 410 Speakerphone with Avaya one-x Communicator Issue 1.0 Abstract These Application Notes describe the configuration steps for provisioning GN Netcom s Jabra Speak 410 speakerphone to successfully interoperate with Avaya Telephones. Jabra Speak 410 are Speakerphones using a USB connection to interoperate with Avaya one-x Communicator running on a Windows PC. Information in these Application Notes has been obtained through DevConnect Compliance Testing and additional technical discussions. 2 1 Introduction These Application Notes describe the compliance tested configuration using GN Netcom s Jabra Speak 410 Speakerphone to interoperate with Avaya one-x Communicator. IP Telephones and the 2400 Series Digital Telephones are used via Avaya Aura Communication Manager to make and receive the calls. Jabra Speak 410 is a desktop speakerphone that connects to a windows PC using USB. 2 General Test Approach and Test Results The test approach was to facilitate the use of Jabra Speak 410 with Avaya one-x Communicator in various telephony scenarios. The tests were to verify that the calls placed and received using the speakerphone functioned correctly with good audio received. Functionality testing included basic telephony operations such as answer, mute/unmute and transfer. The tests were all functional in nature and performance testing was not included. All test cases passed successfully. The serviceability tests were performed by disconnecting the Jabra Speak 410 from the Windows PC and ensuring successful placing of calls and good audio on re-connection. All the test cases passed successfully. 2.1 Interoperability Compliance Testing Avaya s formal testing and Declaration of Conformity is provided only on the speakerphones that carry the Avaya brand or logo. Avaya may conduct testing of non-avaya speakerphones to determine interoperability with Avaya phones. However, Avaya does not conduct the testing of non-avaya speakerphones for: Acoustic Pressure, Safety, Hearing Aid Compliance, EMC regulations, or any other tests to ensure conformity with safety, audio quality, long-term reliability or any regulation requirements. As a result, Avaya makes no representations whether a particular non-avaya speakerphone will work with Avaya s telephones or with a different generation of the same Avaya telephone. 2.2 Test Results During testing the Speak 410 Speakerphone completed all scenarios with results in all cases as expected. 2.3 Support Technical support can be obtained for Jabra products as follows: support@gn.com Website: SJW; Reviewed Solution & Interoperability Test Lab Application Notes Page 2 of 13

3 3 Reference Configuration Figure 1 illustrates the network topology used during compliance testing. An Avaya S8800 Server running Communication Manager with an Avaya G650 Media Gateway was used as the hosting PBX. Avaya 9600 Series IP Telephones and Avaya 2400 Series Digital Telephones are connected to the PBX and used in the testing. GN Netcom s Jabra Speak 410 Speakerphone is connected to a Windows PC using USB and configured using the Jabra PC Suite. 5 6 Configure the Jabra Speak Install and configure Jabra PC Suite Insert the Jabra PC Suite in the drive and run <program name>.exe. From the welcome screen click on the Next button. Accept the license agreement (not shown). From the custom Setup window choose the default settings and click on the Next button. 8 From the Windows start menu choose Programs Jabra Jabra Control Center. Check that Softphones supported by Jabra PC Suite is selected. Click OK to accept this setting. 6.2 Configure Avaya one-x Communicator to use Jabra Speak 410 The installation and configuration of Avaya one-x Communicator is outside the scope of this document. This section describes the steps taken to allow Jabra Speak 410 to be used by Avaya one-x Communicator. Select Programs Avaya One-X Communicator Avaya One-X Communicator from the Windows start menu. 9 From the General Setting Screen click on Audio and then click on Audio Tuning Wizard. Select (Jabra SPEAK 410 USB) for both playback and recording device. Click the Next button. SJW; Reviewed Solution & Interoperability Test Lab Application Notes Page 9 of 13

10 Test the Speaker Volume by clicking Test. Click the Next button. Adjust the Microphone volume by speaking clearly. The Audio Meter will ideally register with a green bar between the indicators. 11 Test the background noise by clicking on the Test button and remaining silent while the test runs. Click on the Next button. Click on the Finish button to complete the Audio Tuning Wizard. 12 7 Verification Steps This section provides the tests that can be performed to verify correct configuration of Jabra Speak 410 and Avaya one-x Communicator. Press the icon and dial tone is heard through the speaker Type the required number in one-x Communicator and the call is connected with good quality 2 way voice. Press the icon to place the call on mute and press again to bring the call back Press the icon to hang up the call 8 Conclusion These Application Notes describe the configuration steps required for Jabra Speak 410 to successfully interoperate with Avaya one-x Communicator.
