6 Chapter 1 Intrductin This chapter intrduces the Cmtrade OMi Management Pack fr Citrix (Citrix MP) and explains hw it interacts with Operatins Manager i (OMi) and Citrix. Abut Citrix Citrix is the leader in applicatin and desktp virtualizatin, prviding a cmplete, flexible slutin that delivers Windws applicatins and desktps t any user n any device while keeping valuable infrmatin lcked dwn in the datacenter. Citrix applicatin and desktp virtualizatin technlgy helps yur rganizatin keep pace with changing business demands while increasing prductivity, simplifying management, imprving security, and reducing csts. Citrix MP supprts the fllwing Citrix prducts: Citrix XenApp/XenDesktp Citrix XenApp is the central sftware cmpnent f the Citrix Windws applicatin delivery infrastructure, it transfrms Windws applicatins int secure mbile services. XenApp is an n demand applicatin delivery slutin that enables any Windws applicatin t be virtualized, centralized, and managed in the data center and instantly delivered as a service t users anywhere n any device. Citrix XenDesktp delivers full Windws VDI as well as virtual applicatins as secure mbile services and enables access t applicatins, desktps, and data. Citrix StreFrnt Citrix StreFrnt is an enterprise applicatin stre that helps IT enable mbility while allwing users t wrk frm any device. It imprves enterprise security and simplifies deplyments t make it easier t manage multi-site XenApp and XenDesktp envirnments. Citrix License Server Citrix License Server allws licenses t be shared acrss the netwrk. It stres license files that yu need t license yur prduct. Citrix Prvisining Server Citrix Prvisining s (PVS) allws yu t have a single instance image management f yur virtual machines hsted in the XenApp/XenDesktp envirnment. 6

7 1 Intrductin The cmputers are prvisined and re-prvisined in real-time frm a single shareddisk image, which eliminates the need t manage and patch individual systems. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Citrix related dcumentatin. Abut OMi OMi is the event management fundatin fr a cmplete Business Management (BSM) mnitring slutin. It cnslidates all IT infrastructure mnitring t prvide a cmmn structured event management mdel that applies the same prcesses t bth business service management and IT infrastructure management. It enables yu t keep track f all the events that ccur in yur mnitred envirnment. OMi prvides autmated mnitring and integratin f multiple external applicatins. All event and perfrmance management riginating frm servers, netwrks, applicatins, strage, and ther IT sils in yur infrastructure are cnslidated int a single event stream in an advanced, central event cnsle. The cnsle displays mnitring alerts t the apprpriate team f peratrs. Yu can quickly identify, mnitr, trublesht, reprt n, and reslve prblems in yur distributed IT envirnment. These abilities make it pssible fr yu t imprve the perfrmance and availability f the infrastructure and services in yur mnitred envirnment, adding t the efficiency and prductivity f yur business. OMi helps yu lcate and slve event-related issues befre business service quality degrades. It ffers the tls that help peratrs slve prblems withut invlving a subject matter expert. With centralized, cnslidated infrmatin, yu can create cnsistent, reusable, and ptimized prcesses fr even respnse. Citrix MP enables users t mnitr, detect, trublesht, slve, and prevent prblems ccurring in netwrks, systems, and applicatins Citrix envirnment. It als prvides alerts generated accrding t availability, perfrmance, cnfiguratin r security situatins that are identified. Citrix MP prvides the fllwing majr features: Discvery and visualizatin Autmatic discvery and visualizatin f the Citrix envirnment ( XenApp/XenDesktp, StreFrnt, Prvisining s, and License Server) using tplgy view and event, health, and perfrmance perspectives. 7

A Citrix MP XAXD Machine agent eliminates a need t install the HPE Operatins agent sftware n thse machines. Architecture The Citrix MP envirnment is a set f systems and cmpnents that discver, analyze, and manage the specified data in the Citrix infrastructure. It fully integrates tplgy, health, and perfrmance data int the OMi Operatins Cnsle, prviding the peratins verview acrss Citrix. The Citrix MP envirnment cnsists f the fllwing parts: Citrix MP Citrix mnitred ndes Citrix MP is installed n the Operatins Manager i server. It cnsists f the Cntent Pack and RTSM. The Citrix cmpnents are installed n the OMi managed ndes (systems with the installed HPE Operatins Agent). Citrix MP subagent shuld be installed n the fllwing Citrix systems t prvide mnitring capabilities: Fr Citrix XenApp/XenDesktp: XAXD Delivery Cntrller Fr Citrix StreFrnt: StreFrnt Server The License Server and Prvisining s are mnitred withut the Citrix MP subagent. 9

10 1 Intrductin XAXD Machine Agent XAXD Machine Agent is a Citrix MP cmpnent installed n a separate mnitred nde fr the perfrmance mnitring f the Server OS machines prvisined by Citrix XenApp and XenDesktp. The HPE Operatins Agent and Citrix MP subagent shuld be als installed n this system. 11 Chapter 2 Installing and cnfiguring This chapter summarizes prcedures t install and cnfigure the Citrix MP n the OMi and the Citrix sides: 1. Check system requirements. Fr mre infrmatin, see Installatin requirements n the next page. 2. Befre installing Citrix MP, perfrm necessary prcedures t prepare the OMi envirnment. This includes installing the HPE Operatins Agent n the Citrix XenApp/XenDesktp, StreFrnt, License Server systems that yu want t mnitr, adding them t OMi as managed ndes and granting certificate t these systems. If yu installed an HPE Operatins Agent t mnitr this system befre, yu can als use it fr the Citrix MP. Fr detailed prcedures, see Preparing OMi envirnment n the next page. 3. Install the Citrix MP in OMi management server. If yu have a distributed OMi envirnment, the prcedure is different. Installatin requirements Fr detailed infrmatin n Citrix MP and OMi including hardware and sftware requirements, perating systems supprt, installatin and cnfiguratin prcedures, See the prduct related dcumentatin at: Befre yu start with the Citrix MP installatin, make sure that the installatin requirements are met. The fllwing required sftware is installed and cnfigured. Fr the supprted versins f the required sftware, see the Citrix MP Supprt Matrix. OMi fr Linux r OMi fr Windws Citrix XenApp/XenDesktp Citrix StreFrnt Prvisining s License Server HPE Operatins Bridge Reprter (HPE OBR) On the Citrix XenApp/XenDesktp, StreFrnt, and Prvisining Server systems that yu want t mnitr, a user accunt with administratr's rights exists. The fllwing OMi Management Pack is installed: OMi Management Pack fr Infrastructure. Preparing OMi envirnment Befre installing Citrix MP, make sure that the OMi envirnment is cnfigured apprpriately and is prepared fr installatin.perfrm these prcedures fr every system that yu want t mnitr using Citrix MP. Fr detailed infrmatin n Citrix MP and OMi including hardware and sftware requirements, perating systems supprt, installatin and cnfiguratin prcedures, see the prduct related dcumentatin at: 1. Install the HPE Operatins Agent n every nde that yu want t mnitr using Citrix MP. 12

13 2 Installing and cnfiguring If yu used the HPE Operatins Agent t mnitr the managed ndes Citrix envirnment befre, yu can use this agent als fr the Citrix MP. If the OMi agent is already installed, skip this prcedure and cntinue with installing MP. 2. Add a new nde that yu want t mnitr using Citrix MP. In the OMi Administratin cnsle, select Administratin > Setup and Maintenance > Mnitred Ndes and then add a new nde with the supprted Citrix applicatin installed. 3. Grant a certificate request fr the nde In the OMi Administratin cnsle, select Administratin > Setup and Maintenance > Certificate Requests, then select the pending certificate request fr the nde and grant it. Installing Citrix MP n a standalne OMi management server Run the installatin f the Citrix MP n the OMi management server. 1. Lg in t the OMi management server as administratr. 2. Munt the Citrix MP installatin ISO image r extract the cntent f the ZIP file t the installatin dept (<InstallDept>). 3. In the cmmand-line cnsle, run the fllwing cmmand: On Windws: "<OvInstallDir>\nnOV\perl\a\bin\perl.exe" "<InstallDept>\CTXMPi_ Install.pl" On Linux: # <InstallDept>/CTXMPi_Install.pl 4. Fllw the prmpts and prvide the username and passwrd that yu use t lg in t the OMi management server. If yu have a cnfigured HTTPS server, grant the certificate when prmpted by clicking y. Installing Citrix MP n the OMi management server in a distributed envirnment Run the installatin f the Citrix MP n the OMi management server. 1. Lg in t the OMi management server as administratr. 2. Munt the Citrix MP installatin ISO image r extract the cntent f the ZIP file t the installatin dept (<InstallDept>). 13

If yu have a cnfigured HTTPS server, grant the certificate when prmpted by clicking y. i Imprtant If yur distributed envirnment cntains mre than ne Gateway server, run this cmmand n every Gateway server system. 4. Lg in t the OMi Administratin Cnsle as administratr. 5. Imprt the RTSM package: a. Switch t the Package Manager (Administratin > RTSM Administratin > Package Manager). b. Click Deply packages t server (frm lcal disk). c. In the Deply Packages t Server windw, click Add. d. Navigate t the Citrix MP installatin dept, select the HPOprCtx.zip package, and then click Open. e. In the Deply Packages t Server windw, click select the HPOprCtx.zip package and then click Deply. f. In the Status Reprt windw, click OK. 6. Imprt the Cntent Pack: a. Switch t the Cntent Packs View (Administratin > Setup and Maintenance > Cntent Packs). b. Click Imprt Cntent Pack Definitins and Cntent... c. In the Imprt Cntent Pack windw, click Chse File, navigate t the Citrix MP installatin dept, then select the OMi_Management_Pack_fr_Citrix.zip, and then click Imprt. d. In the Result windw, click Clse. 7. Imprt the Wrkspaces: a. Cnnect t the OMi Gateway server. n Nte If yu use mre than ne Gateway servers and lad balancing, yu need t perfrm this prcedure just n ne f them. b. Cpy all files frm the fllwing lcatin: 14

G t OMi jmx cnsle ( and lg in by using the jmxcnsle credentials. n Nte By default, remte access t jmx-cnsle is blcked. If it needs t be enabled d s via Infrastructure Settings > cntext "Security". d. In the Fundatins sectin, click the Fundatins:service=UIMDataLader link. e. Search fr the blean ladalldata sectin, then specify value 1 fr custmer ID, and then click Invke. Verifying installatin Citrix MP n OMi management server After the installatin cmpletes, Citrix MP related files and flders are lcated at: Windws: %PrgramData%\HP\HP BTO Sftware\shared\SPI-Share\ctxspi Linux: /var/pt/ov/shared/spi-share/ctxspi The fllwing new entities display in the OMi Administratin Cnsle: Cntent Packs View (Administratin > Setup and Maintenance > Cntent Packs): OMi Management Pack fr Citrix Cnfiguratin Flders (Administratin > Mnitring > Management Templates and Aspects): Citrix Management Package Manager (Administratin > RTSM Administratin > Package Manager): HpOprCtx Preparing managed ndes fr Citrix MP installatin Perfrm this prcedure n all managed ndes that will be mnitred with the Citrix MP. 1. Lg in t the OMi Administratin Cnsle as administratr. 2. Switch t the Nde Views by selecting Administratin > Setup and Maintenance > Mnitred Ndes. 3. Expand Predefined Nde Filters and then click Mnitred Ndes. A list f the managed ndes added t this management server displays in the All Ndes pane. 4. Right-click a managed nde and then select List Assignments fr Selected Item In the Assignments windw, click the New Assignments... icn and then select Assign 15

16 2 Installing and cnfiguring Management Template... An Assign and Deply Management Template wizard starts. 6. Select Citrix Base and then click Next. 7. In the Parameter Summary windw, review the specified parameters, make sure that the Enable Assignment(s) ptin is selected, and then click Finish. 8. After the deplyment runs successfully, click OK in the Summary windw. Repeat this prcedure fr each managed nde that will be mnitred with the Citrix MP. Assigning Citrix cnfiguratin plicies t the management server Assign Citrix cnfiguratin plicies t the management server and cnfigure a Citrix MP user accunt with permissins t access Citrix functinality. Yu shuld assign the available cnfiguratin plicy templates depending n yur envirnment: 1. Lg in t the OMi Administratin Cnsle as administratr. 2. Switch t the Nde Views by selecting Administratin > Setup and Maintenance > Mnitred Ndes. 3. Expand Predefined Nde Filters and then click Mnitred Ndes. A list f the managed ndes added t this management server displays in the All Ndes pane. 4. Right-click the management server nde and then select List Assignments fr Selected Item In the Assignments windw, click New Assignments... and then select ne f the fllwing: If yur envirnment includes all Citrix cmpnents supprted with Citrix MP (XAXD, StreFrnt, Machine Agent, PVS), select Assign Management Template... If yur envirnment des nt include all Citrix cmpnents supprted with Citrix MP (XAXD, StreFrnt, Machine Agent, PVS), select Assign Aspect... License Server des nt require specific cnfiguratin. Depending n yur selectin, an Assign and Deply wizard starts. 6. If yu want t assign the cnfiguratin management template, select Citrix Cnfiguratin. If yu want t assign plicy templates fr specific Citrix cmpnent, select the fllwing plicy templates: Fr StreFrnt mnitring: CTX-SFCnfig Fr XenApp/XenDesktp mnitring: CTX-XAXDCnfig Fr XAXD Machine Agent: CTX-XAXDMACnfig, CTX-CmputerCnfig, and CTX- 16

17 2 Installing and cnfiguring XAXDCnfig Fr Prvisining s mnitring: CTX-PVSCnfig Yu will assign each plicy template separately. Click Next. 7. In the Assign and Deply wizard fr management template r plicy template, prvide the fllwing cnfiguratin settings fr accessing and mnitring Citrix envirnment: StreFrnt: Stre name and user accunt that can lg in t the stre web (yu can use wildcards). It is recmmended that user accunt has at least ne applicatin r desktp assigned. XAXD: XenApp/XenDesktp site name, the site administratr accunt with the Lg n as a service right, and the Citrix Directr URL Cmputer: Delivery Cntrller r Prvisining Server hstnames and lcal administratr accunts n these systems (use a cmma as a delimiter, fr example, DC1,DC2,DC3); virtual machines hstnames (yu can use wildcards t specify virtual machines hstnames, fr example, XADC1-*.dmain.lcal), virtual machines administratr accunts XAXD Machine Agent: hstname f the system where the Citrix MP XAXD Machine Agent will be installed and the list f Delivery Cntrllers (use a cmma as a delimiter, fr example, DC1,DC2,DC3) that yu want t mnitr with the XAXD Machine Agent (that the XAXD Machine Agent will cnnect t) PVS: PVS Farm dmain name and the farm administratr accunt. T specify the hstname, use the fully-qualified dmain name (FQDN). Click Next. 8. In the Parameter Summary windw, review the specified parameters, make sure that the Enable Assignment(s) ptin is selected, and then click Finish. 9. After the deplyment runs successfully, click OK in the Summary windw. The CTX_Cnfig.jsn cnfiguratin file is created in the fllwing directry: On Linux: /var/pt/ov/shared/spi-share/ctxspi/cnf On Windws: <PrgramData>\HP\HP BTO Sftware\shared\SPI- Share\ctxspi\cnf Yu can later change cnfiguratin, see the OMi dcumentatin fr detailed instructins. Licensing Citrix MP Befre yu can start using Citrix MP, yu must btain a valid license key fr each Citrix XenDesktp Delivery Cntrller (DDC) r StreFrnt server, Prvisining server that yu want t mnitr Citrix MP licenses are nde lcked. The number f Citrix MP licenses depends n the number f users n the Citrix license and the type f Citrix license yu 17

18 2 Installing and cnfiguring wn. If yu upgrade yur licenses r yu increase the number f Citrix user licenses yu will have t upgrade r purchase additinal Citrix MP licenses. Yu can use as many servers as needed t supprt the number f purchased user licenses. The Machine Agent des nt require a license file because it first cmmunicates t the DDC befre it can perate. Deplying the Citrix MP Discvery management template Befre yu can discver Citrix envirnment, deply the Citrix Discvery management template t the ndes with the Citrix envirnment yu want t mnitr (XenApp/XenDesktp, StreFrnt, License Server, XAXD Machine Agent). 1. The template is assigned t the selected managed ndes. Perfrm this prcedure fr each template that yu want t assign. Yu can assign different sets f templates t different ndes.
