3 Introducing Microsoft Lync 2013: What Is Lync? Lync integrates with your and calendar, and offers an easy-to-use platform for: Instant messaging (IM) Presence Audio chat and desktop videoconferencing Document and screen sharing Online meetings (webconferencing) Mobile access

4 Introducing Microsoft Lync 2013: Getting Started What you need to do to get started: Download and install the Lync client Log in using Northwestern , NetID, and NetID password Lync Mobile is available for ios, Android, and Windows Mobile devices

5 Lync User Interface: Presence and Location Your presence status lets your contacts know when and how best to reach you Specify your location

6 Lync User Interface: Managing Contacts View contacts by group, status, or relationship All new contacts will be added to Other Contacts group by default Distribution groups Personal groups
