7 What s New This section describes some enhancements and fixings available in this software version since previous Avaya XT Series GA version, v Cloud Management and Auto Provisioning When a new Avaya XT Series Endpoint is installed, a quick setup wizard is displayed to manually configure some needed parameters (for instance GK address/e.164 or SIP Server address with credentials), in addition to other user preferences like XT name and UX language. With this release Avaya XT Series Endpoints can be auto-configured, up and running, with minimal user intervention. The input of a numeric code at the first startup allows configuring XT automatically with a pre-provisioned profile created by your XT Administrator using Avaya Equinox Management available as part of Equinox Solution When using an XT in a company where Avaya Equinox Management is available, the administrator can now enable the Auto-Provisioning feature in the Avaya Equinox Management Settings. Auto-Provisioning an endpoint means to define a set of parameters for it in Avaya Equinox Management, even before it is connected to the network (at home or in the company premises), and have the endpoint get these parameters automatically from Avaya Equinox Management at first startup. Once provisioned, the endpoint will be managed by the Avaya Equinox Management, which can change XT configurations and preferences at any time. Figure 2: Avaya Equinox Management with Auto-Provisioning Server Code In this way the administrator can easily configure a provisioning profile for any XT endpoint even before it is installed. No manual configuration is required on XT for common parameters. Important Feature will be supported for XTs installed in any location, provided that Avaya Equinox Management version is available for association with the XT, that XT is connected to the Internet and that your DHCP server is able to assign a valid DNS address to XT. Please refer to Avaya Equinox Management release for further details about the feature. Important XT Auto-Provisioning Service may be interrupted, including for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or equipment or network failures. We may discontinue certain features and Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 7

8 the support for certain XT devices at any time. Events beyond our control may affect our service, such as force majeure events. Pre-Provisioning an XT Endpoint To define a pre-provisioning parameter for an endpoint, click on the Add button in the Avaya Equinox Management Endpoints tab, and chose Pre-Provisioning an Endpoint. Figure 3: Add a Pre-Provisioned Endpoint A Service Code corresponding to the pre-provisioned endpoint profile is generated. You can then specify a set of basic/advanced settings for an endpoint. Figure 4: Pre-provisioned Endpoint's Service Code Once they are added, Pre-provisioned endpoints are marked with a blue "clock" icon in the Avaya Equinox Management list. This icon means that a profile is ready to be applied to an endpoint with a certain Service Code, but the endpoint did not yet connect to receive the provisioning profile. Figure 5: Pre-provisioned Endpoints Listed Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 8

9 When the pre-provisioned XT Endpoint starts for the first time, you will be invited by a guided procedure to choose the preferred language and then to enter your Service Code Figure 6: XT Quick Setup Wizard Start Figure 7: Insert the service code in the XT Quick Setup Wizard Figure 1: Pre-configuration Found XT7000 Marzia If the service code is correct, the pre-provisioned name for your XT is shown and you can continue the automatic configuration. If the service code is not correct or you do not accept the pre - configuration, you can go back to previous step and proceed with a manual configuration. Important Once your endpoint has been successfully provisioned, the Avaya Equinox Management mode will be marked as Cloud If your endpoint was already managed, the mode will be automatically upgraded to Cloud when upgrading Avaya Equinox Management to this solution version. When managed in Cloud mode, the XT is connected using a secure web socket to Avaya Equinox Management for services like configuration, LDAP entries, software upgrade, scheduling and meeting management (meeting roster and similar features). 10 Post-Provisioning an XT Endpoint If you don't have the code for a specific endpoint, because it has not yet been provisioned in Avaya Equinox Management, you can insert the Server Service Code of your Avaya Equinox Management, and leave the Endpoint Service Code digits empty or all zeroes (post-provisioning code). This feature is called Post-Provisioning. In this case the Avaya Equinox Management Admin will be notified that an endpoint, not yet provisioned, has been added to the list of the manageable endpoints and can be configured any time later. This way, an IT administrator can plug all the XTs in all the company conferencing rooms, just inserting the same post provisioning code; then set a mnemonic name for the endpoint and configure it later in Avaya Equinox Management, where it will be displayed with a red clock icon near the name. You can then specify a set of basic/advanced settings for an endpoint, or delete the endpoint if you don't want to provision it any longer. Figure 2: Post-provisioned Endpoint Listed Auto Provisioning FAQ [Q]What is the default for Auto-provisioning in XT endpoints? [A]The default depends on the installation of the XT and if it was already managed by an Avaya Equinox Management entity. If the XT is a newly installed endpoint or it was not managed, the default will be Cloud ; otherwise it will be Local. The Local Mode will be automatically changed to Cloud when the Avaya Equinox Management entity managing the endpoint is updated to this solution release. [Q]How to check if my XT is managed through the cloud or not? [A]Check Configure>Advanced>Utilities>Remote Access>Avaya Equinox Management Mode: Cloud (Connection using auto-provisioning)/ Local (Connection to Scopia Management 8.3 version or earlier) If the connection Mode is Cloud, your XT is connected to Avaya Equinox Management using a secure web socket. Status of the connection is visible in XT Web home page or in System Status> More. [Q]What happens if I load factory defaults on a provisioned XT? [A]Your XT will remember the Service Code inserted for Provisioning and will propose it again (only the first 5 digits are needed). Just press Next in the initial wizard to have your XT configured again with the same Avaya Equinox Management. [Q]How can I associate my XT to a different Management Server with auto provisioning? [A]Ask your administrator to remove your XT from the Management Server and to add it to a new Management Server. Once you received a new Service Code, load Factory defaults on your XT. You will be prompted to insert the Service Code for the Management Server. Insert the new one you received. [Q]How can I associate my XT to a different Management Server manually? [A]Ask your administrator to remove your XT from the first Management Server and to add it to a new Management Server manually. You will be disconnected from the first server and connected automatically to the second one. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 10

11 [Q]How can I force my XT to forget the assigned Management Server Service ID? [A]Configure your XT for Local mode with a manual IP empty address or with a different Management Server. [Q]I have a valid service code for my XT but the initial Wizard keeps saying that the Management Server is not available? What can I do? [A]Check that your XT is connected to the network. Check that it received a valid IP address and a valid DNS server address from the DHCP server on your network. Then connect to the XT Web Server using any browser (see Web Interface Management section ) and browse to [WEB] DIAGNOSTICS>NETWORK>PING. Ping support.avaya.com or a similar well known web URL. If it is not reachable, your XT is not connected to the internet or the configured DNS is not valid. If the above URL is reachable, check that the FQDN configured in Avaya Equinox Management is reachable. Presence Server This version allows an Avaya XT Series endpoint to register to an XMPP Presence Server to publish its own presence status and to view presence status of other contacts (XT endpoints or devices registered to the presence server). Note The Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) is defined in the XMPP Core (RFC 6120) and XMPP IM (RFC 6121) specifications contributed by the XMPP Standards Foundation to the Internet Standards Process, which is managed by the Internet Engineering Task Force in accordance with RFC XMPP Presence Overview A presence server stores information about the published presence status of devices associated to a "contact". Typical presence statuses are "Offline", "Online", "Away" and "Busy". A contact Alice publishes her own initial status when it registers to the presence server and notifies the server every time her status changes. Figure 3: Alice Registers to a Presence Server Alice is online A contact Bob which "subscribes" as watchers to the Alice contact can see her presence and is notified of her status changes. Figure 4: Bob subscribes to view Alice's presence Subscribe to Alice Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 11

12 When a contact Bob subscribes to Alice, some presence servers allow Alice to approve such request, and to grant/revoke the possibility for Bob to view Alice's status. Other servers grant Alice's presence view to Bob automatically. Figure 5: Alice Registers to a Presence Server Subscription from Bob Alice can grant or ignore Bob's request to view her presence status. If Alice grants to Bob access to her presence status, Bob can query current Alice's status when he connects to the server and will be notified every time Alice's status changes Figure 6: Alice Grants Presence Status View to Bob Grant view to Bob Alice's presence changed If the presence server supports such service, Alice can revoke Bob's access to her presence status. Bob can also unsubscribe from Alice's presence any time. XMPP Presence Configuration To configure the Presence Server, browse to [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>PROTOCOLS>PRESENCE [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS>PROTOCOLS>PRESENCE Use XMPP: Yes/No*. Enable the XMPP Presence Server User Name: Insert the user name of your presence account (i.e. Alice) Password: Insert the password of your presence account Server Type: Generic*/Avaya One-X Portal for IP Office/Avaya Aura (7.0, 7.1 or higher) Domain: Insert the DNS name or domain for your presence server (mandatory) Port: Insert the XMPP Server port (default 5222) IP Address: Insert the IP address for your presence server. While the domain name is mandatory, an additional IP address is optional, but is be needed if the domain name cannot be resolved by DNS Always Accept Subscriptions: Yes*/No. If enabled, the received subscription requests will be automatically accepted. This means that a contact that sent a subscription request to see XT presence will be able to see it without further action on XT side. If disabled, a list of active subscription requests is visible and each of them must be manually accepted or rejected (see Subscription Request List ). This option is not configurable for Aura Presence Server, which always accept subscriptions without waiting for authorizations. Automatic Mutual Subscription: Yes*/No. If enabled, every time XT receives a subscription request from a contact, it will automatically subscribe to see the presence of such contact. So, if Bob asks to see Alice's presence, Alice will be able to see automatically the presence of Bob. If Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 12

13 disabled, Alice must send a subscribe request to Bob to see his presence (see How to view other XT/contacts presence status ). This option is not available for Aura Presence Server. Automatic Favorites Subscription: Yes*/No. If enabled, XT will send a subscription request automatically when adding a new favorite or adding a new number on an existing favorite. Show Advanced Subscription Options: Yes/No*.If enabled, subscribe/unsubscribe and grant/revoke operations can be done for each presence contact, when supported by the server. Figure 7: Presence Configuration, Show Advanced Subscription Options Note To configure a Presence Server, please contact your IT administrator to gather information about the proper login credentials for your XT presence account, the server DNS name and IP address (optional). Different XMPP Presence Server types can limit the available services (subscribe/unsubscribe, grant/revoke, status presence). Known limitations are: Avaya One-X Portal for IP Office. It is not possible to subscribe to accounts used by One-X Portal clients. As a workaround you can temporarily assign the same account to another XT, subscribe to it from your XT, and then move it again to the client. Avaya Aura: contacts are not notified of subscription requests. It is not possible to grant/revoke subscription request. XT endpoint must manually subscribe to other contacts to view their presence. Presence icons used by different clients can differ. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 13

If the Recording License is active in your XT Series endpoint, you can record a session to your local USB key or storage, connected to the XT USB port. Once the recording is completed, this new feature copies the recorded file to an external FTP server, configured as backup storage. You can use as external FTP server the Avaya Equinox Streaming and Recording Server (AESR) when available in your Avaya Conferencing deployment, or a generic FTP Server. The transfer of the recorded files to a server can be encrypted to enhance security. To enable this feature, browse to [GUI] > CONFIGURE > ADVANCED > UTILITIES > RECORDING [WEB] > ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS > UTILITIES > RECORDING Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 21

22 Save to External Server: Yes/No*. Select Yes to enable saving of your files to an external FTP server. External Server Type: o o AESR*: Select AESR if your company deployed Avaya Equinox Management with AESR configured to accept file transfers. See also Configuring AESR as External FTP Server ; Generic: Select Generic if you want to transfer your file to a standard FTP server. In case of a generic server, assure that passive transfer mode is enabled on the server. FTP Server URL: URL containing the name or the IP address of the FTP server and optionally the port number (if different from the standard one, 21) and an existing subdirectory path on the server where your files will be saved. For instance: o [ftp://]servername_or_serveraddress[:port][/remotedir/.../] FTP Server User: User to login into the FTP Server. FTP Server Password: Password to login into the FTP Server. FTP Secure Connection: Yes/No*. Use secure FTP to transfer the files. If yes, explicit FTPS will be used. AESR File Owner: name of the file owner in AESR. It usually corresponds to a user defined in Avaya Equinox Management. AESR Server Tenant ID: tenant or organization ID for the file owner s organization, as defined in Avaya Equinox Management/AESR. If your deployment is not configured in multitenant mode, use 999. See also Configuring AESR as External FTP Server. Figure 28: Use External Server Configuration Once you activate the Save to External Server, the next recorded files will be copied automatically to the external server once the recording ends. Saving a recorded file to an external server could require some time to complete, depending on the duration of your recorded session and the speed of your network connection. Typical transfer time for 4GB file (size of a recorded session of 5 hours at 2048K, 1080p) is around 30 minutes. During the file transfer you can monitor the progress of a file transfer, represented by a blue bar over the file preview in the playback page. A special icon is also shown in the XT GUI title bar to indicate that the transfer is still in progress. Please note that if you shut down the XT or unplug the USB key Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 22

23 while a file transfer is in progress, the transfer will be interrupted and you will need to restart it manually from the XT Web interface. A special icon over the file will show that the transfer failed. If the file transfer succeeds, the recorded file is marked as successfully transferred. Table 1: Recorded File Transfer Indicators File Preview Icon Transfer Status Note In progress Same icon is visible on GUI Title bar Transfer Failed You can repeat the transfer from the WEB interface Transfer Done You can repeat the transfer from the WEB interface. Not transferred, Transfer info no longer available Transfer info is kept only for the last 100 transferred files Figure 29: Save Recording Status in Recording Preview Page The XT GUI and the XT Web interface show the file transfer status (successfully saved or interrupted/failed) for the last one hundred transferred files. You can manually clear the saved files information from the Web interface, for instance when you want to copy again all your files to a different FTP server. Click the Clear Transfer Status button in the XT Web interface. A confirm message will appear. Figure 30: Clear Transfer Status of Recorded Files in the WEB Interface Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 23

24 Important Existing recorded files on your USB key will not be saved automatically when activating the option to save to an external server. In any case you can manually select any recorded file to be saved for the first time or again, from the Web Interface, using the Transfer button. You can save to an external server only the recordings hosted on your local USB storage. Configuring AESR as External FTP Server When using Avaya Equinox Streaming and Recording Server as Server Type, your company IT administrator should assure that the option Media AutoPublish has been enabled on AESR. This option allows AESR to accept files transferred with FTP/FTPS by an XT and can be activated as shown in below picture via AESR Web Interface, menu Global Policies>Policies>Media AutoPublish. Figure 31: Enable AESR as External FTP Server If Avaya Equinox Management is available in your company, the relevant information about users and organization IDs (tenants) will be configured in AESR automatically. In this case it is also possible for each file owner to retrieve their saved recordings through the Avaya Conferencing Portal. If AESR is used without Avaya Conferencing Management, it is also mandatory that all the users and the organizations required to identify the file recording owners are defined in AESR in advance. If your deployment is not configured in multitenant mode, use 999 as tenant/organization ID. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 24

25 Figure 32: Organizations in AESR Figure 33: Users in AESR Important Recorded Files saved on the AESR can be retrieved and played back by their owner only through the Avaya Conferencing Portal. If the Avaya Conferencing Portal is not available in your deployment, you need a direct access to the AESR server to retrieve the saved file. Important If the Owner name and the Organization/Tenant ID are not correct, the FTP transfer can succeed but then the file is not imported correctly info AESR. Upload Videos to USB Storage for Playback In this release it is possible to configure XT to enable video uploads from the Web interface to the local USB storage plugged to XT for recording. In this way you can upload your own files and play them on XT. To enable this feature, browse to [GUI] > CONFIGURE > ADVANCED > UTILITIES > RECORDING Upload Video: Yes/No*. Select Yes to enable the uploading of your video to the local USB storage plugged into the XT using the Web interface. For security reasons, this option is not available from the Web interface itself. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 25

27 Figure 36: Stereo Audio Configuration Figure 37: Stereo Audio Statistics Note Stereo audio is available only when using the Avaya pod (see Figure below). When an older pod is detected, stereo audio configuration option is grayed out. Stereo audio will be available only if supported also by remote party, when in a point to point SIP or H.323 audio-video call, using AAC-LD or G.719 audio codecs. When stereo is active, the additional POD microphone will not capture audio in the room, but it is available to mute/unmute the system. Stereo is not used for video calls at rates lower than 448K, or for audio-only calls. Recorded stereo session will be saved with mono audio. Figure 38: Avaya POD Microphone for Stereo Audio Cascading of Different PTZ Camera Models This release supports the possibility to manually configure the driver for each camera. In this way different PTZ HD camera models can be cascaded and controlled. Please note that when the driver mode is set to Automatic, the driver of the first camera is automatically detected at system start up, but it is assumed that all the cascaded cameras have the same driver, so it is not possible to cascade different camera models in Automatic mode. To cascade two HD PTZ cameras (same model or different model): In I/O Connections>Cameras>General, select Driver mode as Automatic if all the cascaded cameras are of the same model. Otherwise, select Manual and select manually the proper Driver for each camera input. Power off the system. Insert the three connectors of the special cable for the first camera to the sockets on the back of the first camera; pay attention to insert the 8-pin connector to the IN RS232C socket of the main camera. Support of 4K UHD Monitors on XT7000 Series This release supports the possibility to use a 4K UHD or 2160p ( ) monitor display resolution when connected to Scopia XT7100. The feature is not supported on other XT models. This resolution is supported only on the main monitor (HD1 connector on the back panel, the rightmost one). If the HD1 monitor supports 4 K UHD resolutions, this is automatically detected and used. You can also force such resolutions (2160p25 or 2160p30) on the HD1 monitor. The Ultra HD support, allows leveraging the full HD of live video, remote video, and presentation, all remixed in a single 4K mosaic. Figure 48: UHD monitor with mosaic of 1080p video streams Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 32

33 Please note: when a 4K UHD monitor is connected, automatic MultiImage mode preference is set to Picture and Picture (PaP). You can change this preference in [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>I/O CONNECTIONS>MONITORS>PIP-PAP-POP [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> I/O CONNECTIONS> MONITORS>PIP-PAP-POP MultiImage Mode: Auto* (it is pip for Full HD or lower resolutions, PAP for UHD resolutions. It is PoP for XTE240 if not used as Standard Room Endpoint)/PIP/PaP/PoP Note When a 4K UHD monitor is connected, Graphical adjustment for Menu is not applied. Support for 4:3 input and output (live and presentation) Visual contact and the sharing of medical images are key in medical processes (radiology pictures, MRT, etc.). Videoconferencing will contribute to the digital transformation of medical processes in the long term, but currently most hospitals do not have large or Full HD display possibilities in the meeting rooms. This release can leverage an existing meeting room or upgrade an existing SD-videoconferencing solution to HD. In addition to the HDMI display outputs with 16:9 aspect ratios (1080p, 720p, 480p) this version supports two display output resolutions with a different aspect ratio, in [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>I/O CONNECTIONS>MONITOR >RESOLUTION HD1/HD2 [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> I/O CONNECTIONS>MONITOR RESOLUTION HD1/HD2 fps (4:3) 1280 fps (5:4) Important The XT graphical menu will be squeezed to fit in a monitor which aspect ratio is not 16:9. Presentation aspect ratio seen on a 4:3 (or 5:4) monitor will be preserved if Keep Aspect Ratio (KAR) preference is Yes. (This preference can be changed in Configure>Presentation>Keep Presentation Aspect Ratio). Please note that this preference also applies to live video or received presentation/live video. See Rendering of a Video Flow in a Monitor table at the end of this section. The aspect ratio of a transmitted video or presentation is not affected by the local aspect ratio preference, but only by the capabilities of the remote party. When a remote party is an XT, aspect ratio is preserved during the transmission and the visualization is dependent by the monitor resolution and the Keep Aspect Ratio preference of the remote party. 39 Remember Favorite Layouts: o o o Never*: The system will propose the default layout (video flows only) for each combination of video flows. The current multi-image mode will not be changed (so last PIP/PAP/POP mode will be kept when starting or stopping a presentation if changed manually by the user). In a call: The system will use the last layout (video flows and MultiImage) used in the same call for that combination of video flows. So if you receive a presentation and change the layout, the next time you will receive a presentation in the same call you will automatically see again the same layout. Once the call is disconnected, the default layout will be used for the presentation in the next call. Always: The system will use the last layout (video flows and MultiImage) used for that combination of video flows. So if you receive a presentation and change the layout, the next time you will receive a presentation in the same call or in a different call you will automatically see again the same layout. Please note that you should set this preference only for your personal codec units. Avoid setting this preference for endpoints shared with other users. 40 Monitor Test Image Generation In this version, it is possible to generate a test image for checking the display aspect ratio and color rendering on both XT monitors. This image can be used to fine tuning monitor colors and aspect ratio using the remote control of the monitor provided by the vendor, according to the monitor available options. To generate test image, browse to [GUI] > CONFIGURE > SYSTEM STATUS> DIAGNOSTICS>I/O CONNECTIONS>MONITOR>TESTS: Generate Test Image: Play/Pause You can press "Play/Pause" to view/hide a synthetic pattern image displayed on both XT monitors. Overlay GUI XT menu can be removed by pressing "C" on the XT remote control. Please note that the image is visible only when the selected camera input is [HD1..n]. Figure 2: Monitor Test Image Generation Figure 3: Generated Test Image on XT Monitors To obtain the best experience in video conferencing using a setup with two monitors, it is strongly suggested to follow below recommendations. Check that the XT HD1 and HD2 output are connected to the video source plug on the Monitor (if the monitor model has more than a selectable HD video source, use the same one on both). Use HD cables of the same model and length. Verify that the connectors are not damaged. Check XT Menu, visible on the XT GUI (similar menus are available via the XT Web interface) o In XT Configure >Advanced > I/O Connections>Monitors>General, Please check that the default values are set: Numbers of monitors is auto Resolution HD1 is auto Resolution HD 2 is auto o In the same menu, Please check that detected resolutions of both monitors are identical and corresponding to the expected ones (they are displayed on the right side of the above settings), for instance 1920x1080p@60 o In XT Configure >Advanced > I/O Connections>Monitors>Graphic Adjustments, adjustment mode values must be Menu, Presentation and all the other values should be 0 (Top, Left, Bottom, Right) on either monitors, or they should be identical. Check Third Party Monitor Settings Menu, using the monitor own remote control device. These settings depend on the Monitor Vendor and Model, and may vary accordingly. These are the most relevant to check. o Monitor vendor and model should be identical Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 40

41 o o o o o o FW on monitors should be identical Graphic settings exactly the same on both monitors (Backlighting, contrast, sharpness, color), preferably monitor defaults. You can fine tune monitor settings by generating a test image on both monitors as explained above (Monitor Test Image generation). Expert Control should be Off Movie or Cinema mode should be used, never gaming mode Any dynamic gain or smart management of the image should be avoided Cropping or resizing of the content on the monitors should be disabled Multipoint H.265 Meetings in XT7000 Series This version allows an XT7000 Series endpoint to host H.265 meetings (multiple calls with up to 8 remote participants, using H.265 for live video, TX and Rx, when supported by the remote party). Mixed H.265 SIP/H.323 calls in the same meeting are supported. This is a unique feature of Avaya XT7000 Series embedded MCU. This greatly reduces the network bandwidth required to host the meeting, maintaining an exceptional video quality experience for all the participants supporting H.265 video coding. Note Please verify if your XT7000 Series endpoint requires a license to support multipoint calls, up to 8 remote participants. Enhanced Lecturer Mode when Hosting a Meeting In this release, the XT hosting a MCU Meeting is able to work in lecturer mode, sending to the remote parties the local participant video as the lecturer, while the lecturer can see the Continuous Presence of other participants (the lecturer is excluded from the CP composition). This behavior is active by default and corresponds to the Default Lecturer Layout = "1 terminal". To change Default Lecturer Layout option, browse to [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>CALLS>PREFERENCES>MCU [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> CALLS>PREFERENCES>MCU Important Only the local participant of the XT hosting the meeting can see the CP composition, when he/she is the lecturer. Other lecturers will see their own image. Figure 4: Default Lecturer Layout - 1 terminal The XT can also be configured to send to everyone, including the lecturer, the lecturer video (big) and the video of the previous/active speaker (small), by selecting the layout "2 terminals - A" In this case also the local participant hosting the meeting will see this layout, and not the CP composition, when he/she is the lecturer. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 41

42 Figure 5: Default Lecturer Layout - 2 terminals - A Gatekeeper with Dynamic Address In this release a DNS name can be used to configure the Gatekeeper address. This allows dynamic resolution of the gatekeeper IP Address and in case of multiple returned IP addresses the XT Endpoint will register to the first available one. Figure 6: Gatekeeper Configuration with DNS Name Figure 7: System Status - Gatekeeper Registration Information Important XT can resolve the DNS name using both SRV and A queries. For instance, just specifying the company domain name, XT can query for the gatekeeper configured in the domain. Link Quality Indicator In this release Avaya XT Series endpoints display a graphical indicator representing the overall quality of each call link. The link quality indicator level is evaluated separately for audio, video and presentation streams, based on the average packet loss percentage of the last 5 seconds, according to the following table. The worse of the three calculated levels is then displayed. Table 3: Link Quality Indicator Levels Quality Indicator Level Avg. Packet loss % Audio Video Presentation Excellent <=3 <=1 <=1 Good > 3 > 1 > 1 Normal > 7 > 3 > 3 Bad >10 > 5 > 5 Problematic >15 >10 >10 For instance, if the overall link quality indicator level is "Excellent" it means that the average packet loss is now less than 3% for audio, 1% for video and 1% for presentation. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 42

43 In a point to point call, the link quality indicator level is displayed in the XT user interface complete top header. If the level is "Normal" or below, it is also displayed as an alert over the video, when the top header is not visible. Figure 8: Link Quality Indicator on XT Top Header Bar In a multipoint call hosted by the XT built-in MCU, the level is displayed as overlay image on remote participants' video. The level is also visualized in the statistics of each active call. Figure 9: Link Quality Indicator in Participants' Video Figure 10: Link Quality Indicator in Participants' Stats International Call Prefix The International Call Prefix (also called International Direct Dial code, IDD) can be configured in this version. If configured, the specified numeric code will replace the leading '+' symbol when placing outgoing calls. Usually + is expanded with a default code in most country (for instance 00 in Europe). For other countries, a default expansion is not available and should be configured. For any country, IDD expansion can be changed or disabled. To disable IDD expansion, clear the field (or leave it empty). To change default IDD expansion, browse to [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>SYSTEM>LOCATION> [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS>SYSTEM>LOCATION> International Call Prefix: Configure the numeric code to replace a leading '+' in a numeric dialed number, according to the country. 47 Figure 19: Do not Disturb for Everyone Except Trusted - Configuration Figure 20: Do not Disturb for Everyone Except Trusted - Activated Preference for Directory Contacts Search By default XT endpoint searches contacts in a Global Directory only when a few digits of the name are inserted (manual search). In this release it is possible to customize the XT endpoint to show a number of Directory contacts (from a remote LDAP server), without starting a specific manual search. This corresponds to an automatic search for "any" contact (up to 300 contact entries will be returned). The returned contacts will be merged with Favorites contacts (when the remote LDAP server is Avaya Equinox Management/Scopia Management or another XT Series Endpoint). Browse to [GUI] > CONFIGURE > ADVANCED> SYSTEM>CUSTOMIZATION: [WEB] > ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> SYSTEM>CUSTOMIZATION>GENERAL: Search Contacts in Directory: Manual*/Automatic Figure 21: Search Contacts in Directory Important Please note that when the remote LDAP server hosting the Directory is on a slow connection, "Manual" search mode can greatly improve the search speed. The search will begin only when a few letters are inserted in the search field. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 47

48 Groups in XT Contacts In this release, you can specify a group for each favorite contact in your local XT directory. The group info associated with each contact will show in your contacts list. You can also search for a specific group string (search is not case sensitive, and will show all the results containing the search string in the group field of the contacts). Figure 22: Add a group for a Favorite Contact Figure 23: Search by Group Groups are supported only by local (Favorites) or XT- based remote contact servers (running this release), or by any LDAP server supporting the standard "organization" field ("o="). Wrap around Navigation in XT Graphical User Interface This version allows to cycle among available menu items in some user interface panels using the arrows. The selection will restart from the farthest item in the same direction, if no other items are available. For instance, pressing the right arrow when the selection is in the Configure item will move the focus to the Call item. 49 Unicode Names in a Call In this version you can send the Unicode Name of the XT system to a remote party in a SIP or H323 call. [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> SYSTEM>LOCATION System Name Unicode: define a name for your XT with not ASCII characters. System Name Display Mode: change to System Name Unicode Figure 25: Send System Name as Unicode Preference The XT will automatically display Unicode names for remote parties when they are received, without any configuration. This version also checks that only ASCII characters are used for H.323 name or SIP name in XT configuration when editing such names. This is required for interoperability with third party vendors. Important If your XT is registered to a Gatekeeper, the Unicode name of the system might not be propagated to the remote party XT PC Control Application for XTE240 The XTE240 GUI is fully integrated with both PCs and Macs thanks to an intuitive application that provides complete control of the GUI directly from your computer. Using XTE menus to place a call, share your computer content, or participate in a videoconference while working at your computer has never been so easy and intuitive, just as using your computer s keyboard and mouse. You can use the XT PC Control application for Apple Mac and MS Windows to interact with your XTE240 using the computer s mouse and keyboard. In this release, several improvements have been added for the XT PC Control application. If the application is used to control more than a single XT, the list of the controlled devices is now displayed. You can see the connection status of each XT and you can delete the XTs that are no longer needed. Revised implementation of the application (no longer dialog based) to improve transition effects in the minimized/maximized state. To install the updated application, browse to the home page of the Telepresence master codec and click on Create Package button. Your computer s OS is automatically detected. Figure 29: XT Series Telepresence Calibration Application Important To calibrate an XT running this release you need to upgrade the application to version 8.5 or higher. To check the application version when it is running, press F1 for Windows and Cmd+1 for Mac Web Collaboration This version can send presentation content and receive collaboration content (screen sharing and annotations) when Avaya Web Collaboration Server is available in your deployment (as standalone server as in 8.3.x deployments or as part of Conferencing Media Server) and the conditions to use Web Collaboration on XT are met in the call (see table). Avaya Web Collaboration (WCS) is based on JPEG/PNG images sent through a HTTP/HTTPS connection and greatly enhances quality of sent and received collaboration content respect to H.239/BFCP dual video. Avaya Web Collaboration transfers presentations between Conferencing Desktop Clients or 9.0 XT Series as JPEG/PNG images instead of H.239/BFCP dual video stream. As a result, user experience is improved and presentations consume less bandwidth. Participants using devices or endpoints not supporting Web Collaboration can still view and send shared content. When using Web Collaboration, XT can receive and send content to other meeting participants in audio-video calls. XT can also receive annotations done by other participants. XT cannot annotate shared content in this release. Please check following table to check when XT can use Web Collaboration in audio-video calls. If the desktop sharing resolution is higher in 1920x1080 (as width or height) the sharing is not scaled, but it can be panned by using the arrows as when controlling the near camera. The collaboration content will be panned or titled in place of the camera when it is displayed in the major window on any monitor. To pan the camera, change layout by holding layouts (simplified remote control) or pressing layouts (advanced remote control). Statistics for Web collaboration content are limited to coding (WCS), resolution and frame rate. Frame rate is measured in terms of logical frames received or sent in a second. A logical frame can be a full frame or a set of blocks which encodes the differences respect to the previous received or sent frame. When nothing changes in the frame no traffic is generated, thus reducing bandwidth requirements. Figure 30: Web Collaboration Stats Important Web Collaboration provides superb definition of shared content in terms of sharpness and readability, so it should be preferred for static document sharing (static presentations, rich text documents, spreadsheets, data charts, web pages ), while standard H.239/BFCP is better suited when sharing or receiving live/dynamic content (videos, animated presentations). When Web Collaboration is enabled, gallery layout preference is ignored. You cannot annotate a shared content with XT in this build. You cannot share just a portion of the screen from XT. Web Collaboration is not supported in audio only calls. You cannot send or receive presentations (H.239/BFCP/WCS) in audio only calls. When receiving a Web Collaboration sharing, only a maximum frame of 1920x1080 (1080p) is scaled by XT. Exceeding content is available by panning. If you are receiving a presentation with content higher than 1080p you can pan the presentation using the arrows as when controlling your near camera (until the presentation is shown on a major window). Web Collaboration is not supported on XT devices with CPU lower than 2.0 Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series What s New 52

53 Remote Participant Name In point to point calls is now possible to visualize in the bottom left portion of the XT menu screen the name of the remote peer and some status icons (remote mute, encryption ) To permanently enable the feature, browse to [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>SYSTEM>CUSTOMIZATION [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> SYSTEM>CUSTOMIZATION Show Remote Name: Yes/No* It is possible to remove the name visualization just for the current call using the C/del key on the remote control without changing the settings. Please note that the participant name is always displayed in the same position respect to the graphical menu and does not follow the position of the video of the participant. It could also overlap the participant name displayed in the received video when you connect to an Equinox or embedded XT MCU in a SIP call. Multi-Stream Switching Video (Beta only) Avaya Multi-Stream Switching (MSS) video solution utilizes the advance switched video capabilities in Avaya Aura Media Server 9.0.x (AMS) to distribute multiple video streams to each MSS aware participant. The MSS v1 is implemented by XT as beta feature in this release and it involves these products in Avaya Equinox Solution 9.0: XT Series endpoints, Avaya Software Clients, Avaya AURA, Equinox Management and AMS (Avaya Media Server). Equinox 9.0 is the first release where MSSv1 can be evaluated (with beta quality) as part of a complete conferencing solution side by side with the legacy transcoding conferencing. 54 Important MSSv1 is supported only in SIP calls. MSSv1 cannot be enabled on XT devices with CPU lower than 2.0. Please note that endpoints not supporting MSSv1 will connect to a Multi-stream Video Switching Service enabled meeting in audio only. Only web collaboration is supported in this meeting type, so please assure that it is enabled in the XT. MSSv1 support in Equinox 9.0 with TE (Aura deployment) is in scope with Beta quality at GA time-frame (Jan 2017). A SP is needed for Aura CM. Limit of this release: when using the USB camera (which is the default for XTE240), the quality of the live video is very poor, there are artifacts and the video can freeze at 1024Kb or lower. 69 Software Upgrade & Downgrade This section explains how to upgrade or downgrade XT Series software. This release introduces also relevant improves in software upgrade security, using signed software packages. Signed Software Packages Since this release, XT Series software packages are signed by an Avaya Certificate Root Authority recognized by the XT Series. Only verified signed software packages will be accepted by XT Series once upgraded to this release. A software package will be installed only if XT verifies that: 1) The software package is signed by Avaya IT Root Authority and produced by an authorized build server. 2) The software package content is not tampered or changed in any way. For this reason, the XT Series upgraded to this release will no longer accept by default software packages which have not been signed. This means that to downgrade XT Series to a previous version you have to manually disable the verification of the downloaded package signature. Browse to: [GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>UTILITIES>REMOTE ACCESS>DOWNLOAD [WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS>UTILITIES>REMOTE ACCESS>DOWNLOAD o Verify Signature: Yes*/No. Important The Verify Signature option does not apply to recovery mode. It is not possible to force an XT version 9.0 or higher to accept an unsigned package when in recovery mode. See Known Issues, Software Upgrade & Downgrade section and the table below. Table 7: XT Software Update Verification Table XT Mode Recovery Mode Normal Mode Sw update done by PC USB PC/Management USB/AT/WEB XT <= 8.3.x: XT <= 8.3.x: XT <= 8.3.x: XT <= 8.3.x: Unsigned package accepted accepted** accepted accepted (8.3.x or with _U XT >= 9.0: XT >= 9.0: XT >= 9.0: XT >= 9.0: suffix) not accepted not accepted not accepted* not accepted* XT < 9.0: XT < 9.0: not accepted not accepted Signed package (9.0 or higher) accepted XT >= 9.0: accepted accepted XT >= 9.0: accepted *By default an unsigned software package is not accepted. 70 How to Upgrade XT Series to this Release This release improves security when upgrading. Since this version, XT Series software packages are signed by an Avaya Certificate Root Authority recognized by the XT Series. Only signed packages will be accepted by XT Series once upgraded to this version (see XT Software Update Verification Table). Software upgrade packages named XT5000_Vx_y_z.exe can be used only to upgrade Avaya XT5000/XT4x00/XTE240 Series Codec Units. Software upgrade packages named XT7000_Vx_y_z.exe can be used only to upgrade Avaya XT7000 Series Codec Units. To upgrade the software of an Avaya XT Series Codec Unit: Save the XTn000_vx.y.z.exe file containing the XT Series Software in your Windows PC Verify that the PC is connected to the network in wired mode (otherwise the upgrade process can be very slow when using a wireless connection) and that it can ping XT. Double click the version.exe file. Below application will be launched. Insert IP address of the XT to upgrade in the Codec Unit IP address field. Press Start button in the app. Do not turnoff or unplug XT, until it completes the upgrade. The application will signal that the software package transfer is completed. Wait until the XT applies the updates contained in the package and restarts. If the XT does not restart but it shows an indication to repeat the upgrade, press the Start button again. Figure 47: Software Upgrade Application Caution Do not turn off the system until the upgrade procedure is completed. The system LED may blink repeatedly while upgrading. If you are upgrading from a 3.0/3.1 version of XT5000/XT4000, the upgrade procedure may reboot more than once while upgrading. A 30 to 40-second interval may occur between the reboots. If the upgrade procedure is INTERRUPTED for any reason, do NOT restart the Codec Unit but repeat the procedure as suggested by the Codec User Interface. If the GLAN interface is not reachable any more, put the.exe upgrade package into a formatted USB key and insert it into the upper USB socket. This procedure is completed when you see the initial graphical menu displayed continuously for at least one minute after a restart. Important Since version 9.0 is a Major Release for Avaya XT Series, a new license might be required for this upgrade if the endpoint is not under Maintenance Contract. The codec can in any case work in preview mode without a license for 30 days (Power ON time countdown is suspended when the system is OFF). Before upgrading it s always suggested to back-up the previous system configuration from Diagnostics > Utilities > Configuration > Export. To upgrade the XT to a version or higher using the USB key, a version must be already installed on the XT. You cannot upgrade directly from x to x using the USB Key. To upgrade from an USB key, the version file must be named XT5000 Vx_y_z.exe or XT7000_Vx_y_z.exe. Do not change version name. A _U suffix can also be present if the package is unsigned. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series Software Upgrade & Downgrade 70

71 For any issue appearing when using this software package please contact Avaya Customer Support opening a Service Request at and providing Important the system CS Package (Web > Diagnostics> Utilities >Customer Support Package: press Create and download the newly created package to your computer) the NetLog capture (if the problem can be easily reproduced vs. any external third party IP device) the detailed description of the issue occurred (see also If your Codec Unit was configured to use 97, 98 or 99 as remote control code, you will no longer be able to set these codes after upgrading to this version. Please configure your Codec Unit and Remote Control to use a different code in the range [1..96]. (See Remote Control Shortcuts). Downgrading from this Release Downgrading to earlier releases could be unsupported by some Avaya XT Series products or in particular conditions. In particular: XTE240 cannot be downgraded to versions earlier than Avaya Branded XT Endpoint s cannot be downgraded to versions earlier than XT4300 cannot be downgraded to versions or earlier. XT7000 cannot be downgraded to versions earlier than xx In 9.0 recovery mode or higher, you cannot downgrade to 8.3.x or use an unsigned _U package. In 9.0 standard mode, you need to disable Verify signature to downgrade from this release using an unsigned package. Important If you reset a codec unit to factory defaults using a newer version and then downgrade to an earlier version, some new defaults could not be properly recognized by the earlier version. It is strongly suggested to execute again the reset to factory defaults after downgrading. See Known Issues, Software Upgrade & Downgrade section. In recovery mode it is not possible to downgrade from this release using an unsigned package (8.3.x or _u suffix). See Known Issues, Software Upgrade & Downgrade section. In normal mode, you need to disable Verify signature to downgrade to 8.3.x (menu Utilities>Remote Access>Download) Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series Software Upgrade & Downgrade 71

75 Known Issues Avaya performs effective testing of each software version. Patch software may be available to fix known issues of this software version. Please contact Avaya s Customer Support Service for further information. This section details the list of known issues for this version. Issues are common to Avaya XT Series. Table 10: List of known issues in this version Category Case Number/ Ticket ID Description of issue Solution/Workaround Echo cancellation issue when audio out of HD2 is enabled (HD2 is connected to a track of the XT audio mixer) and HD2 audio output is heard in the room through loudspeakers or a monitor. In Configure > Advanced > I/O Connections > Audio Outputs > Tracks > Outputs from tracks: Set HD2 to Off. Echo cancellation issue when using HD2 as single monitor Connect the single monitor to HD1. HD2 should be used only as additional monitor. System Setup Some HD monitors crop the output. If the borders of the graphical menus are not fully visible, select Configure > Quick Setup from the Main menu. Select Next in the Quick Setup to adjust how the menu is displayed in the monitor. You can also resize the local and received presentation on the additional monitor from the web interface. Select Administrator Settings > I/O Connections > Monitor > Graphical Adjustments. Additional monitor/cloned monitor may become black during the call It is strongly suggested to use two monitors of the same Vendor/Brand/Model, with the same settings. In particular, do not mix 1080p/720p monitors-. During a call, do not change monitor resolutions and do not connect/disconnect monitors QC#12897 Placing the camera on top of the system may cause the system to overheat and reset. Place the camera near the system. QC#20476 SI #161693: [Executive] During the XT Control app installation (using Internet Explorer) appears a security warning about an 'unknown' publisher. The warning appears because the XT Control application is not signed: continue with the installation since the content is not harmful for the PC. XT4300 The camera does not turn on the standby led when the codec unit is in power off Changing camera driver mode from automatic to manual and the reverse, or changing the camera cascade setup requires following a specific procedure: see below. In I/O Connections>Cameras>General, select Driver mode as Automatic if all the cascaded cameras are of the same model. Otherwise, select Manual and select manually the proper Driver for each camera input, in the order in which they will be cascaded. Disable all the intermediate inputs that will not be cascaded. Cascade cameras Cannot change camera cascade driver mode or connect/disconnect/change cascaded camera order on the fly. Power off the system. Insert the three connectors of the special cable for the first camera to the sockets on the back of the first camera; pay attention to insert the 8-pin connector to the IN RS232C socket of the main camera. I/O Connections Connect a crossed VISCA cable from the OUT RS232C connector of the first camera to the IN RS232C connector of the second camera. Repeat with additional crossed VISCA cables if you have a third camera for XT7000 or more cameras when using an XT camera switch. Connect each additional camera to its power source and to XT HD or DVI input, or to the proper HD slot of the XT Camera Switch. Power on the system. Flex camera can be cascaded only as last camera in the chain. Flex Camera for cascading Some older Flex camera models do not support cascading. Please check that the Flex camera (Model VC- B20DRV) serial number (available in a label on the bottom of the camera as aside) is higher than V13C04411 or is in the format V13xxyyzzzz (without any letter). When restoring the system to factory default settings, the screen may appear black for a long time. Cancelling the screen saver while it is activating can cause the camera to move. SI #161991: [Executive] Sometimes the XT Control application could not realize the changes applied into the Windows OS Screen Resolution menu. Analog/Digital DVI PC resolution 1280x960 could be treated as 720p or 1080p (encoding/detected format). SI #161841: [Executive] XTE240 local PC video could flash when the PC user moves between different PC active applications and the XTE is configured to be the 'Extended'/Second Monitor of the PC. Audio transmission/reception could be choppy when using USB headset connected to upper USB port. Sometimes the system is turned on but the camera image is not present. This is more frequent using the XT camera switch, for the first camera. Issue with an input of XT camera switch due to noise on this input in no video signal conditions. The information about the HD1/HD2 cameras or audio inputs are available only for the last selected HD1/HD2 input [XT4300] When upgrading to this version, Flex camera presets assigned using are lost and must be configured again. When connecting different model camera in daisy chain there could be some configuration trouble about Close the XT Control application before any changes are going to be applied into the Windows OS menu Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution. This issue belongs to the Windows ('Aero') preview feature when selecting/moving between different/open PC application windows and could appear with any third party 'Extended'/Second PC Monitor. Connect USB headset to lower USB port. Unplug and then pug again the Camera power connector or use a Flex/Deluxe camera. Disable unused video inputs on the XT Select the HD1 or HD2 input to see its diagnostic info. In order to speed up PTZ to camera presets with XT Flex Camera a brand new approach has been implemented since 8.3 FP2. This new implementation significantly improves customer experience. Please note that when updating to such new firmware version all previously set presets will be lost and must be re-configured. In order to avoid any trouble, configure right driver for any camera, then turn off the system, connect cables according to the configuration and then turn on the system. Release Notes for Avaya Scopia XT Series Known Issues 79

80 Downgrading to unsigned versions QC#18364 QC#26658 SI# RVXT Web interface or AT interface. You need to use a special unsigned package in this case (with _U suffix, for instance XT5000_V9_0_0_23_U.exe). XT Series refuses the downgrade to a not signed version (<8.5) in regular mode or in recovery mode. If you are updating a system with PIC firmware rev 33 (implemented in versions up to v ), the system might keep rebooting, and the Codec Unit s LED or logo blinks 3 or 5 times as an error code. If you change parameters with a newer version, or load factory defaults with a newer version, some parameters could be not properly managed by earlier versions when downgrading. For instance, new gatekeeper configuration supporting DNS name is not available in previous version, so when downgrading you have to configure gatekeeper again. The same for the TLS configuration and similar settings. Uploading a SW package into the XT codec through USB key is not possible - whenever the SW Package is not newer than the one already running - when trying to upgrade from v8.3.0.x (or older) to a v8.3.2 or higher; in this case it s firstly needed to upgrade to any v8.3.2.x using a Windows PC - when a password is set for the software upgrade - when the *.exe package copied into the USB Key has been renamed to a different name than XT5000_Vx_y_z.exe or XT7000_Vx_y_z.exe - when the *.exe package is not contained in the root directory of the USB key. To downgrade XT to a version previous to 8.5, you have to manually disable the Verify Signature option in the Download menu for normal mode. For recovery mode it is not possible to downgrade to an unsigned version. You need to use a signed version for recovery mode and then disable the above option and downgrade the XT to previous version. Disconnect and reconnect the power jack connector. Reconfigure the parameter to the default value or restore the previous version backup configuration after downgrading, especially if you changed parameters with the new version or loaded default values/factory defaults with the new version and then downgraded the system.
