Chapter 1 Getting Started With IBM Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries Welcome to IBM Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries TM! IBM Lotus Sametime merges Web server technology, IBM Lotus Notes technology, T.120 data-conferencing technology, and online awareness technology to allow Lotus Notes and Web browser clients to participate in live, inter-active online meetings, instant messaging, and group chat sessions. Sametime enhances the workplace by placing powerful, real-time collaboration tools on the desktop of every user in a Sametime community. Now you can combine these technologies with the reliability and scalability of an iseries server. About Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries In addition to documenting the aspects of Sametime that are unique to iseries, this installation guide provides an administrator with the necessary steps for completing the following tasks: w w w w w Planning and preparing the Sametime environment Installing Sametime Adding Sametime to a Domino TM server Managing the Sametime server Making the Sametime Connect TM Client available to users Note Although you install Sametime on a Domino server, this book will refer to the Domino server with Sametime installed as the Sametime server. For a checklist of the tasks you must complete for a successful Sametime deployment, see Appendix A "Sametime Installation and Configuration Checklist." Providing documentation feedback Lotus Sametime User Assistance Feedback is a form posted on the Internet that allows you to provide feedback pertaining to your experiences with this installation guide. This form is available at the following Web site: Chapter 1: Getting started with Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries 1

What's new in Sametime 3.1 for iseries This section summarizes some of the major new features for Sametime 3.1. For complete information on new features applicable to all server platforms, see the Sametime 3.1 Release Notes, available at the following Web address: w The capability to encrypt SIP traffic with Transport Layer Security (TLS) is now available for the integrated iseries SIP Connector. This procedure provides the highest level of security for the SIP Gateway functionality. In Sametime 3.0a, TLS was available only for the Standalone SIP Connector. w A Sametime 3.1 server can be deployed behind a reverse proxy server. End users can connect to the Sametime server through the reverse proxy server to participate in any type of Sametime meeting activity with the exception of interactive audio/video. w An administrator can configure the default connectivity settings for the Sametime Connect for browsers client. This capability ensures that Sametime Connect for browsers loads to a user's web browser with the configuration settings that are appropriate for the network environment. End users are not required to manually configure these settings. w The administrator can enable a Sametime server feature that allows end users to specify the default size and location of the chat windows that pop up on the users' screens. w A new feature can be implemented with the Sametime toolkit which allows end users to select a default log-in status (such as "I am active" or "I am away") for their Sametime Connect clients. This log-in status appears in the client of other online members of the Sametime community at the time the user starts the Sametime Connect client. w There are several changes to the diagnostic trace files for Sametime 3.1. w A new /trace subdirectory of the Sametime server data directory is created when the server is configured or upgraded. All of the diagnostic files (*.diag) that previously resided in the server data directory are now located in the new /trace subdirectory. w The Java TM diagnostic trace files that previously resided in the server data directory have been replaced with several text files (*.txt) in the new /trace subdirectory. w When summary logging is activated with the DbDiagsSummaryLogEnabled setting in the meetingserver.ini file, the DB.log file is now created in the new /trace subdirectory of the Sametime server data directory. Note This DB.log file continues to grow until summary logging is deactivated. 2 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

Differences in Sametime for iseries Sametime for iseries differs from Sametime on other platforms in the following ways: w w w w w Sametime for iseries supports multiple Sametime servers on the same LPAR of an iseries server. This is done by creating multiple Domino partitioned servers and configuring them as Sametime servers. For this environment to be successful, it is important that TCP/IP is carefully configured. For more information, see technote "Sametime for iseries: Multiple Sametime Servers on Same System" at the following Web address: You can integrate Sametime and QuickPlace on the same iseries server. To set up this environment, you must follow specific setup instructions. For more information, see technotes "QuickPlace for iseries: Enabling Integration with Sametime" and "Sametime for iseries: Can Sametime 3.x and QuickPlace Be Installed on the Same System?" at the following Web addresses: In order to have meeting attachments displayed automatically on the whiteboard of a Sametime meeting, you must install and configure an optional component of Sametime for iseries, called Sametime Conversion Services. If you choose not to install Sametime Conversion Services, users must use the Sametime Print Capture Utility to process most meeting attachments for display on the whiteboard. For more information on installing and configuring Sametime Conversion Services, see the Lotus Sametime 3.1 Conversion Services Setup Guide. This document is available from the Lotus Developer Domain Documentation Library at the following Web address: In order to enable users to save changes and updates made to the contents of the whiteboard during a meeting, you must perform additional steps after your Sametime server is up and running. For more information, see Appendix E "Enabling the Capability to Save Whiteboard Contents." Option 1 of 5733LST is no longer shipped with the Sametime product. The Sametime Links toolkit is included and automatically installed with the base Sametime product. If you need any of the other toolkits, you can download the latest versions from the Lotus Developer Domain at the following Web address: Chapter 1: Getting started with Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries 3

w w The OS/400 command, CHGLSTDOM, provides a simplified process for changing the IP address and host name of a Sametime server. Detailed information about this command is explained in the section "Changing the IP address and host name settings of a Sametime server" in Appendix D. Sametime 3.1 for iseries does not support the use of a Latitude MeetingPlace TM server. This option, currently available only on Windows platforms, allows users to schedule a Latitude MeetingPlace telephone conference and associate it with a scheduled Sametime meeting. About upgrading to Sametime 3.1 for iseries Sametime 3.1 for iseries supports upgrading from Sametime 2.5, 3.0 or 3.0a for iseries. Be aware of the following information when upgrading to Sametime 3.1 for iseries: w Be sure to review the section "Sametime for iseries requirements" later in this chapter, as the information has changed for this release. w Any existing Sametime servers must be stopped before you use the LODRUN or RSTLICPGM commands to upgrade to Sametime 3.1. If a Sametime server is running, the upgrade will fail. w It is important to carefully consider the release of Domino you will use. If you plan to upgrade to Domino 6 and are already running a release of Domino that is supported with Sametime 3.1, such as Domino , it is recommended that you upgrade to Sametime 3.1 first, before upgrading your Domino software. Make sure that Sametime 3.1 is functioning properly before you upgrade Domino. If you plan to run QuickPlace on the same iseries server, be sure to use a release of Domino that is compatible with QuickPlace. For the latest information, see technote "Sametime for iseries: Can Sametime 3.x and QuickPlace Be Installed on the Same System?" at the following Web address: w If you have changed any values in the meetintgserver.ini file, be aware that only the following settings are preserved when you upgrade to a newer release of Sametime for iseries: Attachment Conversion Services settings located in this section: [SOFTWARE\Lotus\Sametime\MeetingServer\ConversionServices] DISPLAY= setting to enable the capability to save whiteboard contents located in this section: [SOFTWARE\Lotus\Sametime\MeetingServer\Services\MaterialManager] 4 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

w w StartWaitTime= setting located in this section: [SOFTWARE\Lotus\Sametime\MeetingServer\Services] ConfigWaitTime= setting located in this section: [SOFTWARE\Lotus\Sametime\MeetingServer] If you need to examine the contents of the original meetingserver.ini file after upgrade, it is saved in the server data directory as meetingserver.bak. Additionally, the pre-upgrade versions of sametime.ini and stconfig.nsf are saved in a subdirectory of the server data directory. The name of the subdirectory is ST25BU, ST30BU or ST30ABU, depending on which release of Sametime was running prior to the upgrade to Sametime 3.1. Before installing Sametime 3.1, back up the following in case an error occurs during the upgrade process: names.nsf - This is optional if you can replicate from another Domino server. vpuserinfo.nsf - This contains user storage and privacy information, such as buddylist. streg.nsf - Back up this file only if self-registration is enabled. stconf.nsf - This file contains meeting documents and attachments. *.RAP - This will back up the recorded meeting files, typically found in a subdirectory. da.nsf - Back up this file if you are using directory assistance. Chapter 1: Getting started with Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries 5

w w w notes.ini - Back up this file for possible reference. Back up any Teamrooms and Discussion databases. Back up any custom templates or applications. If you are upgrading from Sametime 2.5, be aware of the following: You should verify certain items in your current TCP/IP configuration, even if your current Sametime server is functioning correctly. Make sure that the fully qualified host name of your Sametime server is listed first in your iseries host table, before any short names associated with the same IP address. If your server is configured to search the Domain Name Server (DNS) before searching the iseries host table, you must also make sure that the fully qualified host name of your Sametime server is listed first in the DNS. For detailed information, see Chapter 2 "Preparing the TCP/IP Environment." For Sametime 3.x, the end user must enter the fully qualified DNS name of the Sametime server, such as sametimeserver.meetings.acme.com, in the Web browser URL locator when accessing the Sametime server to authenticate with a Sametime 3.x server. Sametime 3.x uses the Domino single signon which requires the fully qualified DNS name of the server for a successful authentication. More information about managing Sametime security is available in Chapter 13 of the Sametime Administrator's Guide (sthelpad.pdf). If you are using a Domino LDAP directory and have configured a home Sametime server for your users, you will need to make changes after upgrading your Sametime server to 3.1. Without these changes, your users will not be able to login to Sametime. If you have multiple Sametime servers or you have Sametime enabled Domino databases, such as the mail database, you likely have configured a home Sametime server. Before upgrading to Sametime 3.1, check to see if you are using the "ST_DB_LDAP_HOMESERVER_NOTES_FORMAT" parameter in the sametime.ini file. This parameter was used to tell Sametime to convert the home server attribute returned by LDAP from standard LDAP format to a form that is usable by Sametime, but the parameter is no longer used in Sametime 3.1. Sample Java code and instructions are available for implementing this function in Sametime 3.1 using the customized attributes feature. See the Readme.html file for information about obtaining the sample code and instructions. If you are currently using Sametime Attachment Conversion Services, you should upgrade your conversion server after upgrading your Sametime server. The updated version of the conversion services is included with Sametime 3.1. For more information, see the Readme file located on the Sametime 3.1 for iseries CD-ROM. 6 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

About the Sametime server Before installing Sametime, you should familiarize yourself with its services, which are summarized below. For more detailed information about these services, see the Sametime 3.1 Administrator s Guide (sthelpad.pdf) or the help database (sthelpad.nsf). Domino/Web Application Services Sametime uses the infrastructure and services of the Domino server on which it is installed. The following are the primary Domino services used by a Sametime server: w Web server w Directory w Security w Replication w Database storage You can deploy Sametime applications on the Sametime server or on a different Domino server located in the same domain as the Sametime server. Community Services The Sametime Community Services support all presence (or awareness), text chat, and file transfer activity in a Sametime community. Any Sametime client that contains a presence list must connect to the Community Services. The Community Services clients include the Sametime Connect client, Participant List and public chat components of the Sametime Meeting Room client, and presence lists in Sametime Discussion or TeamRoom databases or applications developed from the Sametime Software Development Kit. Chapter 1: Getting started with Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries 7

These are some of the basic functions provided by the Community Services: w Handling client login requests. w Listening for connections from clients that access the Sametime server through a direct TCP/IP connection, or through HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS proxy servers. w Accessing a directory for user name search and display purposes. w Accessing a directory to compile lists of all Sametime servers and users in the community. w Dissemination of presence and chat data to all users connected to Community Services. w Maintenance and storage of privacy information for online users. w Interacting with the Sametime Meeting Services to create meetings in which collaborative activities supported by the Community Services, Meeting Services, and Audio/Video Services (if Multimedia Services are installed) are simultaneously available. w Connecting and communicating with the Community Services on other Sametime servers when multiple Sametime servers are installed. Server-to-server connections for Community Services occur on default TCP/IP port w Logging of Community Services events to the Sametime log (STLOG.NSF). w Enabling a name entry prompt to appear when the ACL settings of the Sametime Meeting Center database (or any other database that includes Sametime technology) allow anonymous access. This name entry prompt ensures that the presence list in the Sametime database can display a name for the user. w Capturing chat conversations that occur on the Sametime server for later retrieval. Developers must implement a chat logging feature to capture and retrieve chat conversations. As a Sametime administrator, you must ensure that each user in the Sametime community downloads and installs the Sametime Connect clients on their computer. For more information, see "About the Sametime Connect clients" later in this chapter. 8 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

Meeting Services The Meeting Services include the T.120 multipoint communications software that supports screen sharing, shared whiteboard, and the starting, stopping, and deletion of meetings. The Meeting Services also support connections for the interactive audio/video components of the Sametime Meeting Room client. These are some of the basic functions provided by the Meeting Services: w Creating and destroying meeting objects. w w w w w w w w Listening for connections from clients that access the Sametime server through a direct TCP/IP connection, or through HTTP or SOCKS proxy servers. Clients connect to the Meeting Services on port 8081 by default. Dissemination of T.120 screen-sharing, whiteboard, sending Web pages, and polling data among multiple users in a meeting. Maintaining lists of active, scheduled, and completed meetings. Starting and stopping instant and scheduled meetings at the appropriate times. Interacting with the Community Services to create meetings in which collaborative activities supported by the Community Services, Meeting Services, and Audio/Video Services (if installed) are simultaneously available. Connecting and communicating with the Meeting Services of other Sametime servers when a community includes multiple Sametime servers. These connections enable a single meeting to be active on multiple Sametime servers. Server-to-server connections occur on TCP/IP port 1503 by default. Logging Meeting Services events to the Sametime log (STLOG.NSF). Provide the ability to record Sametime meetings in Sametime Record and Playback (RAP) files so that users can replay meetings after the meetings have ended. Broadcast Services The Broadcast Services support the conversion of screen-sharing/white-board, audio, and video data into individual RTP streams for transmission on the network. The Sametime Broadcast client is the only client of the Broadcast Services. The Broadcast Services enable a large audience of users to watch meeting activity but not interact in the meeting. Chapter 1: Getting started with Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries 9

These are some of the basic functions provided by the Broadcast Services: w Listens for Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) connections from the Sametime Broadcast clients that access the Sametime server through a direct TCP/IP connection, or through HTTP or SOCKS proxy servers. w Negotiates with the Broadcast clients to ensure the clients can receive the broadcast meeting streams. w Identifies and attaches to broadcast meetings on the Sametime server. w Transcodes screen-sharing/whiteboard data, audio data, and video data into an RTP stream. w Transmits the RTP streams using UDP, TCP, or HTTP to ensure clients operating in different network environments can receive the streams. w Multicasts data streams when transmitting on multicast-enabled networks. w Simultaneous broadcast of multiple meetings. w Handling the playback of recorded meetings. Audio/Video Services The Audio/Video Services of Sametime support all interactive IP audio/video capabilities of Sametime. The Audio/Video Services clients include the IP audio and video components of the Sametime Meeting Room client and H.323-compliant programs (such as Microsoft NetMeeting). Interactive audio/video meetings can be bandwidth intensive. Also, too many interactive audio/video users can tax the system resources of the server and degrade the audio/video quality. Sametime allows the administrator to set limits on audio/video usage to ensure a good quality of service. Connection Speed Settings are also available for the Audio/Video Services to ensure audio and video data can be transmitted at speeds that are acceptable for users with modem connections and users with LAN/WAN connections. 10 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

These are some of the basic functions provided by the Audio/Video Services: w Handles connections from the audio/video clients. w Negotiates audio/video capabilities with clients. w Detects the person currently speaking (or detects the source of an audio stream). w Performs audio and video switching operations as different people speak in meetings. w Sequences and transmits the audio and video data streams to multiple clients. w Transmits the audio and video data streams using the UDP transport. w Tunnels the UDP streams through TCP when UDP is unavailable on a network. w Interoperability with H.323 gateways and gatekeepers. w Full-duplex operation (includes two-way mixing of audio that allows two participants to speak simultaneously and be heard by all meeting participants). About the Sametime Connect clients Sametime for iseries includes two versions of the Sametime Connect client. Sametime Connect for the desktop is a standalone Windows application and Sametime Connect for browsers is a signed Java applet that runs in a user s Web browser. The administrator controls the availability of these clients through settings in the Sametime Administration Tool, from the Sametime Client Packager application, or from the Sametime Installer for Secure Desktops (SISD). To use Sametime Connect for the desktop, users must either download the client from the Welcome to Sametime page, install the client from the Sametime server CD, or install a customized version of the client that has been created with the Sametime Client Packager application. For more information on creating a customized version of Sametime Connect for the desktop, see Chapter 7 "Using the Sametime Client Packager Application." To use Sametime Connect for browsers, users must download the client from the Welcome to Sametime page or use the Sametime Installer for Secure Desktops wizard. Note Each user must have an Internet password entered in the Person document in the Domino Directory before using either Sametime Connect client. This password is required to log on to Sametime. Sametime Installer for Secure Desktops The Sametime Installer for Secure Desktops (SISD) uses an InstallShield wizard to install the following Java clients on a workstation: Chapter 1: Getting started with Lotus Sametime 3.1 for iseries 11

w Sametime Connect for browsers w Sametime Meeting Room client w Sametime Broadcast client w Sametime Directory applet Normally, users must download each of these clients separately. SISD saves time by allowing users to install all of the clients at once. SISD is particularly useful if your users do not have administrator privileges for their computers, because these users are unable to install the Sametime clients from the server. Without the clients, they cannot attend Sametime meetings, use Sametime Connect for browsers, or access the directory to locate other Sametime users. With SISD, the system administrator (or any user with administrator privileges) can quickly install all of the Sametime clients listed above onto a user's machine. The Sametime Installer for Secure Desktops is located in the \SecureDesktop directory of the Sametime for iseries Volume 2 CD. See the Securedesktop_readme.txt file which is located in the same directory for a detailed list of the client workstation requirements. Additional Notes w If your users require Sametime Connect for the desktop, SametimeClient.exe must be installed in addition to the Sametime Installer for Secure Desktops. w Before using SISD, you must update your Sametime server. Sametime 3.1 SISD clients cannot access meetings on servers running Sametime versions prior to 3.1. w If SISD detects that the 3.1 level of a client is already installed on a workstation, SISD skips to the next client installation. If previous versions of Sametime clients are already installed on a workstation, SISD installs the 3.1 versions but does not remove the previous versions. Since previous versions of the Java clients are not removed, the client workstation can still be used to access meetings on servers running previous releases of Sametime. Using iseries Navigator The preferred way to install and manage Sametime 3.1 for iseries is to use iseries Navigator. iseries Navigator is part of IBM iseries Client Access Express for Windows, which runs on a workstation that is communicating with your iseries server through TCP/IP. To use iseries Navigator, you must install Client Access Express on a workstation that is running a Microsoft Windows operating platform. All of the software 12 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

needed for Client Access Express is included with the OS/400 software that is pre-loaded on your iseries server. For detailed information on installing iseries Navigator and Client Access Express, see the iseries Navigator section of the iseries Information Center at the following Web address: OS/400 authorities required to install and set up Sametime OS/400 has extensive security restrictions to prevent unauthorized access to OS/400 functions and data. The administrator who installs and sets up Sametime must sign on to the iseries server with a user profile that has the required authorities. To install the Sametime software, your user profile must have the following special authorities: w All object access (*ALLOBJ) w Security administration (*SECADM) To set up a Sametime server, your user profile must have the following special authorities: w All object access (*ALLOBJ) w System configuration (*IOSYSCFG) w Job control (*JOBCTL) Checking your user profile using iseries Navigator The OS/400 security officer has the required authorities to install and set up Sametime. 28 Chapter 2 Preparing the TCP/IP Environment Your Sametime server must be configured to use one or more specific TCP/IP addresses so that it will not attempt to share TCP/IP ports with any other HTTP servers on your system. This chapter guides you through the process of verifying your TCP/IP configuration, making changes if necessary to resolve conflicts between servers, and gathering the TCP/IP information that you will need to configure your Sametime server. For detailed information about connectivity issues, see Chapter 5 Configuring Ports and Network Connectivity in the Sametime 3.1 Administrator s Guide (sthelpad.pdf) or the help database (sthelpad.nsf). Preparing your TCP/IP environment for Sametime involves the following tasks: w Verify iseries host table entries. w Verify configuration of existing Domino servers. w Select a TCP/IP address for your Sametime server. w Add an iseries TCP/IP address. w Update your iseries host table. w Update the Domain Name Server. w Update the configuration of existing Domino servers. w Update the IBM HTTP server configuration. For the same steps using only OS/400 commands, see Appendix B "Preparing the TCP/IP Environment Using Commands." Chapter 2: Preparing the TCP/IP Environment 23

Verifying iseries host table entries To verify your host table entries, follow these steps: 1. Locate your iseries server's Host Table. w Open iseries Navigator. w Open your iseries server where you plan to install Sametime. w Click Network. w Right-click TCP/IP Configuration and select Properties. w On the TCP/IP Configuration properties panel, click Host Table. 2. Record each host name and the corresponding TCP/IP address as you may need this information later. Verifying configuration of existing Domino servers Note If you do not have any Domino servers configured on your system, you can skip this section. To determine which TCP/IP addresses are currently being used by your Domino servers, follow these steps: 1. From an OS/400 command interface, sign on to your iseries server. Note The following steps assume that your Domino servers are already started. 2. Verify the current TCP/IP addresses for each Domino server by entering the following command: WRKDOMCSL servername where servername is the name of your Domino server. 3. From the Domino Console display, type the following and press Enter: sh port tcpip 4. Press F5 to refresh the screen. The 'show port TCP/IP' command displays the TCP/IP address that the Domino server is using. w If the server is using only one TCP/IP address, you will see a specific TCP/IP Local Address listed along with a port number, which is typically port For example, :1352. w If the server is using all active TCP/IP addresses, you will see *:1352 displayed as the Local Address rather than a particular TCP/IP address. 5. Record the results for each Domino server, as you will use this information later. 24 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

Selecting a TCP/IP address for your Sametime server In this section you will determine which TCP/IP addresses are already defined on your system and decide which address you will use for your Sametime server. You will also determine whether you will need to define additional TCP/IP addresses in order to avoid conflicts between servers. 1. Open the list of TCP/IP interfaces. w If necessary, open iseries Navigator. w Open your iseries server where you will add Sametime. w Click Network. w Click TCP/IP Configuration. w Click Interfaces. The right pane shows information about each TCP/IP address on your server. 2. Verify that each of the TCP/IP addresses that you recorded earlier (when you looked at the Host Table or ran the 'sh port tcpip' command) is currently defined. 3. Verify that the system has enough TCP/IP addresses defined so that you can assign at least one for the exclusive use of each of the following: w Your Sametime server. w Each existing Domino server. w Each instance of the IBM HTTP server running on your system. Note Do not attempt to use Domino port mapping. 4. Contact your network administrator to assign additional TCP/IP addresses and host names if needed. 5. Ensure that the new host names are also added to your Domain Name Server (DNS). 6. Select the TCP/IP address you will assign to your Sametime server. 7. Decide which TCP/IP addresses should be assigned to each existing Domino server and each instance of the IBM HTTP server. 8. Record this information, as you will use it later to ensure that existing servers are properly bound to specific IP addresses. This ensures that their port usage will not conflict with your Sametime server. If you did not need to have additional TCP/IP addresses defined, skip to "Updating the iseries host table." Chapter 2: Preparing the TCP/IP Environment 25

Adding an iseries TCP/IP address Note If you did not need to assign additional TCP/IP addresses, you can skip this section. To add a TCP/IP address to your server, follow these steps: 1. If necessary, open iseries Navigator. 2. Open your iseries server where you will add Sametime. 3. Click Network. 4. Click TCP/IP Configuration. 5. Right-click Interfaces and select New Interface. 6. Select Local Area Network. 7. Follow the wizard's instructions to configure the TCP/IP interface. If you need assistance in any window of the wizard, click Help. Updating the iseries host table In this section, you will add an entry in the host table for your Sametime server. If necessary, you will also update the entries for your existing Domino servers. To add a host table entry for your Sametime server, follow these steps: 1. Open the iseries Host Table. w Open iseries Navigator. w Open your iseries server where you plan to install Sametime. w Click Network. w Right-click TCP/IP Configuration and select Properties. w On the TCP/IP Configuration properties display, click the Host Table tab. 2. Click Add. 3. In the IP Address field enter the TCP/IP address you have chosen to use for your Sametime server. For example, enter In the Host name field, enter the fully qualified name for the Domino server where you will add Sametime. For example, enter stdom1.acme.com. Note Although you can add multiple host names for the same IP address, make sure you list the fully qualified name first, before any alternative short names. If the fully qualified name is not first on the list of names associated with the Sametime server's IP address, you must delete the entries and recreate them in the correct order. 5. If you choose to, enter a description in the Description field. 26 Installing and Managing Sametime 3.1 for iseries

6. Click OK to add the entry to your server's host table. 7. Click OK to exit the TCP/IP Configuration Properties Window. Ensure that the host table entries for any existing Domino servers are correctly defined and they are associated with the TCP/IP addresses you decided they should use in "Selecting a TCP/IP address for your Sametime server." Updating the Domain Name Server If you defined any additional host names, work with your TCP/IP administrator to ensure that the new host names are added to your Domain Name Server (DNS). If you have configured TCP/IP to search the DNS before searching the iseries host table, you may need to make additional changes in your configuration. Follow these steps to check your TCP/IP Configuration Properties: 1. Open iseries Navigator. 2. Open the iseries server where you will install Sametime. 3. Click Network. 4. Right-click TCP/IP Configuration and select Properties. 5. Note the current value of the "Search order". w If "Search host table first" is selected, you do not need to take any further action. You already ensured that the fully qualified host name was listed first in your local host table in an earlier step. Chapter 2: Preparing the TCP/IP Environment 27
