2 Product Overview GoToMyPC is a complete, turnkey solution that enables corporations to quickly, easily and securely establish a remote-access solution without the need for IT infrastructure changes. GoToMyPC is a Web-based remote-access solution that enables users to remotely access their computers from any other Internet-connected computer in the world with almost any operating system through a secure, private connection. The GoToMyPC Corporate solution is composed of three parts, the GoToMyPC Web site, GoToMyPC software and Administration Center. GoToMyPC Website The Website is where the user will log in to access their list of host computers. GoToMyPC Software The software is the component that is installed on the host computer to enable it to be accessed from any client computer. GoToMyPC Administration Center GoToMyPC Corporate Administration Center is a Web-based interface that enables an IT Manager to have full control of GoToMyPC deployment, use and reporting. How It Works GoToMyPC is a hosted service, composed of four components. 1. Host PC The host PC is the PC that a user will access from a remote location. During setup, the user downloads and installs a small application on the host PC. This application registers and authenticates itself with Expertcity's GoToMyPC broker. For network address and firewall independence, the host PC software initiates all communication with the broker, issuing HTTP "pings" to check for new connection requests. 2. Client PC The client PC is the PC used to access the host PC. On the client side, the remote teleworker or traveler launches a browser, visits Expertcity's secure Web site, enters a login and password, and clicks a "connect" button for the desired PC, which sends an SSL-authenticated, encrypted request to the broker. 3. GoToMyPC broker The GoToMyPC broker is the matchmaker that listens for connection requests, mapping them to registered computers. When a match occurs, the broker assigns the session to a communication server. The client and server are supplied with the communication server address and a unique session ID. At this point, the client PC viewer - a tiny session-specific executable - is automatically loaded by the browser's Java Virtual Machine. 4. GoToMyPC communication server This component relays an opaque, highly compressed, encrypted stream from client to server. The client and server mutually authenticate each other, using a shared secret (a computer access code) known only to them. 8 Security Overview GoToMyPC offers multiple security protections for our customers. 128-bit AES Encryption GoToMyPC has 128-bit AES encryption built in. All data including screen images, file transfers, keyboard and mouse input and chat text is fully encrypted from end-to-end. The encryption key is unique for each connection and is based on the access code and a random bit sequence. The access code itself resides on the host computer and is never transmitted or stored on Expertcity servers. For this reason, it is impossible, even with the most sophisticated devices, to intercept the data necessary to decode the encryption. Transmissions cannot be hacked or compromised in any way. SSL Web Site The SSL security protocol provides data encryption, server authentication, message integrity and client authentication for a TCP/IP connection. This provides the customer with validation that GoToMyPC is secure. End-to-End Authentication Authentication occurs with a challenge/response mechanism using a secure MD5 methodology. Nested Passwords To access a computer running GoToMyPC, users must log in to the secure Web site using their addresses and personal passwords. They can then select the computer they want to access, but they must enter the computer's unique access code to complete the connection. An access code is required for all connections. To provide machine-level security, the computer's unique access code resides on the computer and is never transmitted or stored on Expertcity servers. Strong Password Policy GoToMyPC requires that passwords be at least 8 characters long and contain both letters and numbers. These strict requirements protect users from choosing easily compromised or common passwords. Limited Number of Login Attempts To protect against hacker attacks, GoToMyPC limits the number of times users can attempt to log in. Screen Blanking and Mouse and Keyboard Locking The Screen Blanking feature to prevent someone from viewing the user s host computer activity. The Mouse and Keyboard Locking feature to prevent others from controlling the user s host computer mouse and keyboard when the user is remotely connected.
