Introduction Documentation Resources Documentation Resources Installation and Configuration Guide The Installation and Configuration Guide contains information to help you plan your deployment, system, network requirements, supported devices, installation and client configuration. Server Setup Guide The Server Setup Guide provides the administrators with task-based information to help you configure services for the client. DNS Configuration Guide The DNS Configuration Guide contains information to help you plan your deployment, system, network requirements, supported devices, installation and client configuration. Licensing Information The Licensing Information document provides information on the open source libraries used by the application. Accessibility Guide Provides information on navigating the client, including shortcut keys, keyboard navigation, and other accessibility features. Advanced Features Guide The Advanced Features Guide provides an overview of task-based information about end user operation of the client. For additional information see the Cisco Jabber for Mac documentation page. New in this Release Expressway for Mobile and Remote Access Expressway for Mobile and Remote Access for Cisco Unified Communications Manager allows users to access their Cisco Jabber collaboration tools from outside the corporate firewall without a VPN client. Using Cisco collaboration gateways, the client can connect securely to your corporate network from remote locations such as Wi-Fi networks or mobile data networks. For more information about this feature, see the Installation and Configuration Guide. 3

New in this Release Introduction Service Discovery Service Discovery gives the client the ability to automatically detect and locate services. This feature is configured centrally by an administrator using DNS SRV records. Service Discovery removes the need for manual user interaction to configure services. Voice Services Domain The voice services domain parameter allows the user to specify the DNS domain to be a different value to the service domain. The DNS domain is where the _cisco-uds, _cuplogin and _collab-edge DNS SRV records are deployed. Service Discovery Excluded Services In certain deployment scenarios services can be excluded from the service discovery process. For information about setting up this feature, see the Installation and Configuration Guide and DNS Configuration Guide. Configuration URL This feature allows administrators to create a link that makes it easier for users to set up the client for the first time. This link allows user to cross-launch Jabber without having to manually enter service discovery information. Administrators create a link that includes the domain Cisco Jabber needs for service discovery. This link can also include information that Cisco Jabber needs to connect to Phone Services. Administrators then provide this link to users through or a web page. After users select the link, Cisco Jabber bypasses the Welcome screen, discovers available services, and opens the Sign in screen. Users cannot navigate back to the Welcome screen. For information about setting up this feature, see the Installation and Configuration Guide. URI Dialing URI dialing allows a user to be called using an assigned URI instead of a phone number. URIs follow a user@domain format that is similar to an address. URI dialing is enabled through configuration in the client and Cisco Unified Communications Manager. For information about setting up this feature, see the Installation and Configuration Guide and Server Setup Guide. 4

Introduction New in this Release Meetings Enhancements Supported in this release: Meetings tab to configure additional meetings sites. For information about setting up additional meetings sites, see the Advanced Features Guide. 10 New in this Release Introduction Self-Care Portal The self-care portal allows users to control the preferences for their phone devices associated with Cisco Jabber. The self-care portal is available for on-premises deployments using Cisco Unified Communications Manager version 10 and higher. IM Archiving Notifications IM archiving notifications are displayed to the user when the recipient of their IM had IM archiving activated. 6

CHAPTER 2 Limitations and Restrictions Limitation During Upgrade, page 7 Important Notes, page 7 Limitation During Upgrade The following features are not available in this release. Voic transcripts Call Transfer Call Park Send to Mobile Forced Authorization Code/Client Matter Code Observer Contact List Group Chat History Custom Contacts1 Compound search base Change Password2 Mac OSX support 1 On-demand (Cisco Collaboration Cloud IM/Availability) deployments only 2 On-premise (Cisco Unified Presence server IM/Availability) deployments only Important Notes Issues with interoperability with other clients, devices, and third party software, along with server-side issues or defects that impact client functionality. 7

Important Notes Limitations and Restrictions Expressway for Mobile and Remote Access Deployment For an Expressway for Mobile and Remote Access deployment, when using an online certificate status protocol (OCSP) or online certificate revocation lists (CRL) to obtain the revocation status of the certificates, the Cisco Jabber client expects a response time of less than 5 seconds. Connections will fail if the response time is greater than the expected 5 seconds. Network Disconnection when using Cisco Jabber on audio or video call There is a known issue in the Mac OS where network interfaces will drop intermittently when DSCP is enabled. If you encounter this issue, do the following: 1 Select Preferences > Calls > Advanced. 2 Uncheck Enable Differentiated Service for Calls. Cisco Medianet Cisco Medianet is not currently supported on Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks). 8

Computer Telephony Integration Servitude Requirements Computer Telephony Integration Servitude Cisco Jabber for Windows and Cisco Jabber for Mac support CTI servitude of Cisco Jabber from a third party application. Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) enables you to use computer-processing functions while making, receiving, and managing telephone calls. A CTI application can allow you to retrieve customer information from a database on the basis of information that caller ID provides and can enable you to use information that an interactive voice response (IVR) system captures. For more information on CTI servitude, see the CTI sections in the appropriate release of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager System Guide. Or you can see the following sites on the Cisco Developer Network for information about creating applications for CTI control through Cisco Unified Communications Manager APIs: Cisco TAPI: Cisco JTAPI: Ports and Protocols The client uses the ports and protocols listed in the following tables: Inbound Port to Protocol UDP Description Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) media streams for audio and video Outbound Port Protocol UDP HTTP TCP (HTTP) UDP / TCP LDAPS TCP LDAPS TCP UDP / TCP Description Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) service TFTP service to download client configuration Cisco Unified Communications Manager administrator and user web pages LDAP directory server LDAP directory server (secure) Global Catalog server Global Catalog server (secure) CTI gateway Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) call signaling 12

CHAPTER 4 Caveats Search for Bugs, page 15 Open in this Release, page 16 Resolved Caveats, page 16 Closed Caveats, page 17 Search for Bugs Bug Classification Known defects, or bugs, have a severity level that indicates the priority of the defect. Development managers define the bug severity. Severity helps the product team focus on bug fixes for future releases and prioritize fixes. The following table describes the bug severity levels: Severity level Description 1 Catastrophic Reasonably common circumstances cause the entire system to fail, or a major subsystem to stop working, or other devices on the network to be disrupted. No workarounds exist. 2 Severe Important functions are unusable and workarounds do not exist. Other functions and the rest of the network is operating normally. 3 Moderate Failures occur in unusual circumstances, or minor features do not work at all, or other failures occur but low-impact workarounds exist. This is the highest level for documentation bugs. 4 Minor Failures occur under very unusual circumstances, but operation essentially recovers without intervention. Users do not need to install any workarounds and performance impact is tolerable. 5 Cosmetic Defects do not cause any detrimental effect on system functionality. 6 Enhancement Requests for new functionality or feature improvements. 15
